JACK FUCKING BAUER

I lost interest in 24 after the second series.

I did tune in for parts of whatever the series was BEFORE he got dragged off and tortured, whatever that was, but he just ran around breakign rules and being annoying with his little bag flapping around behind him.

Season 7 was 33% good (Tony, Hodges, the middle eastern dude who was a big damn hero at the end), 66% extremely fucking dull. And the first two episodes of this season were the least I've ever enjoyed the start of a season of 24, and that's a really bad thing because those are usually reliably good and then the show falls apart.

24 fully went to shit when they killed Curtis...it was heading there before though. I have the first 4 series on DVD and don't particularly care about getting any of the others. I tend to start watching a series and just tune out after 2/3 episodes.

God, yes. That was the most bafflingly stupid scene in the entire series. Worse than Kim vs. A Cougar, because at least that wasn't massively, massively out of character and didn't kill off the second-most popular supporting character in the series.

I watch 24 just for something to watch. I dont watch it for the storyline or storytelling, because it is the same thing every season. Last year they at least had Tony being the bad guy, which was interesting. Kind of. I can only imagine this year someone will go after Kim (again) and also Teri, as a way to get under Jacks skin.

I don't expect anything epic from the show. Though, with that agent from last season returning, whoever the woman was, I WOULD like to see her turn into a female Jack Bauer by torturing people for info, except doing in a way that makes even Jack go, "Holy shit, that's a little too far." That would be one thing to keep me interested for this season.

I do hate that they tend to throw off anyone mildly interesting before giving them much chance to stick around. Im glad Chloe has been around as long as she has, but I just wait for her to be killed off as well.

Chloe is the one person on this show that cannot die (besides Jack of cause)... at this point the might even kill Kim, but after that did not happen in the first two episodes i am pritty shure that she will just be written of the show for most parts of the Season. (wich is a good thing becaus i always hated her).

Oh well, and Tony has been around since Season one aswell, i always seem to forget him.

You guys could start up a deathpool in here, 24 is a lot of fun if you guess whos byteing the dust next. Being the head of CTU ois pritty deadly (Jack is the only Head of CTU that is still alive) but this one will make it for a while.

I was right last night wen i said that Benito Martinez would not make it to the first two episodes. (H) :-( Big props for mentioning the salazar investigation in this seasons start... i still hope Ramon is alive, best 24 villan ever.

Aaaand i don´t remember how curtis died, but i don´t miss him... he was lame.

This thing with Starbuck is so pointless

On that, i do agree. But 24 almost always had some wacky side story that... wasent realy that good.

I love how the "of cause we got an actual bigger plan" comedy already starts after four episodes. (it used to be Six...i seriusly love it, i find myself howling in laughter wen the 24 story sterotypes hit... i guss everybody has his guilty pleshure. ;-)

Seriously. Just agonizingly dull.

Thankfully, suicidal, off-the-deep-end Renee is wonderful and has really given this season a shot in the arm.

Ahh Jack. It's the same every year and every year I love it for about half a season, get caught up in LOST, House or whatever else is on and I catch up later on in the year. Season 5 was the only one to really grab my attention and it's gone downhill since. Not to say I don't really enjoy it, it's just that after a while I get a little bored with Jack doing the same thing every time. It's awesome, but it's the same old story. It's like watching all four Die Hard's in a row and by the fourth it's not as awesome as it could be because it's big event after big event. Hell, season six had a fucking nuke detonated in Downtown L.A in the first quarter of the season and a President running on adrenaline and trying to nuke a foreign country.

I want to watch this thing the whole way through, but I'm hoping that things like the rocket launcher attack on the helicopter and the attempted bombing of the foreign president are kept to a minimum and we can just have Jack owning random terrorists instead of him tracking down the lead conspirator only to find that it isnt Tony Almeida, or the people he is working with, it is President Juma of a African country. I'm almost surprised that Jack didn't break free and kill them all on his own, although it was pretty close to it if I remember correctly. The Russians in the first season were pretty good and entertaining, and it made more of Jack's earlier life. The Salazars were a fun little group and Ramon was fantastic. Hell, Nina Myers was alright sometimes. Season 5 had a fantastic President and Chris Henderson was a brilliant character. But then it gets kinda old as we have more Presedential worries and Season 6 is around more Russians with Season 7 flicking back to the darker skinned enemy.

Why can't Jack just find a dodgy looking guy and interrogate him for a bit because he was speeding? Hell, Kim became a feature storyline when some guys were kidnapping her to get at Jack. Side missions which ultimately build towards the big plot. Instead of having millions of different pieces that eventually all fit together in the end in a very contrived manner, it's much more enjoyable to see the stories divert along the way before finally weaving back to create an ending that makes sense. I'm still wondering why Jack is fine and 5 episodes in we haven't heard anything about it. They're more worried with Rene's past and whilst that's all well and good, I'm wondering why Jack is fine with not dying after all that effort he put into dying last season.

Anyway, I'm clearly ranting and it's pointless because things will be ignored and plot lines will be loose, but it will be a spectacular season all in all with people losing limbs, eyes, heads and teeth in the search for the weapons grade uranium that has been smuggled into the country. As always, it's a race against the clock for Jack and "We're running out of time" will become engraved in your brain.

I don't know whereabouts the americanos are with this, or where we are for that matter. Whatever, I'm up to episode 13 and I'm pissed off.

Dana Walsh's heel turn. Yeah, okay, 24 has been a parody of itself for a long time, and it's been a huge joke since at least season 6 but it was still enjoyable to watch, like Matzat said earlier it was fun seeing how silly it got but jesus christ. That was absolutely retarded. Okay, we're watching 24, there are people in CTU, QED, someone is a mole. But why the fuck would it be Walsh?

Every single thing that happened earlier with her has just been entirely undermined. And understand that I don't hold it to be some amazing show on the level of the Wire anymore, I get that it is really, really dumb, but this is just bizarre. If she loves Freddy Prinze Jr, why is she helping the bad guys try to kill him? And if she doesn't, why does she give a fuck about the stuff that happened with that other guy? Some dickhead from the past is threatening you? Oh no, what to do?! Will I stumble around like a retard for a few hours panicking like mad, or I dunno, call up my TERRORIST BUDDIES and get them to beat the shit out of him? Gah. Basically undermined everything thats happened up to this point for a silly swerve, and it's really sucked the enjoyment from the show.

I just needed to point out that I've finally hit the point where 24 has officially become Too Silly :(

I liked the Dana turn, just because the character was God awful until she turned. It has been explained a bit better as to what/why she was in CTU, but that's still a few episodes from where you're at. But yeah, I didn't get why she was running around all day scared of the ex and bounty hunter guy when she could have had the terrorists kill them.

BTW, Season 8 starts getting really good pretty soon from where you're at, so I'd recommend you keep watching it.

As for the US episodes.......

- The two part episode with the death of Hassan was awesome. That had to be one of the biggest swerves they ever did, and I couldn't believe Hassan actually ended up dead.

- Also, Charles Logan is back, continuing the awesomeness of that character. I'm really enjoying his return, and President Taylor finally showed some balls this week by keeping a lid on the Russian involvement, which is the only thing I'm not too crazy about. I knew there had to be something more to Hassan's death, but it felt like a cop out to have the Russians be behind it. And Jack going rogue has been done way too much.

- Rene getting killed off bugged me since I thought the show should end with Jack finally being happy for once.

- No idea on how the show is going to end, but my guess is that Freddy Prinze ends up killing Dana, Jack gets arrested, and something happens between Hassan's wife and President Taylor over the Russian involvement in Hassan's death.

All in all, Season 8 started pretty slowly, but it's gotten better. I don't think it's as good as Season 7, but definitely better than Season 6. Maybe it's just my taste, but I still enjoy watching 24 and am kinda bummed about it being canceled.
