I think the best I've ever managed was getting to wave 8 or 9 against Cerberus on Silver, solo. I've finished Gold enough times and could probably do it outside of White if I had a decent team alongside me. Mostly thanks to the Slayer, though. Being able to destroy anything through the walls before they can try and even take aim is very helpful. >_>

Nothing worse than trying to grind Gold with a group of people that have no idea what they're doing.

One guy was playing a Human Female Engineer! Against Geth! On Gold! If you're using a Human on Gold that isn't one of the new N7 lot, you're doing it wrong. They've got the health of a Geth with none of the buffs to make up for it.

I'm not saying there's not a place on most teams for most classes, but you've got to weigh up who you're playing with. My team was all N7 like, 100. Which means unless they're like me and don't see the point of promoting, they're all not very experienced with the game. Like, if I'm playing with a team full of Destroyers (which is surprisingly not that great! a human tank is still a bad idea, because lol, human health and shields) and I was set up for a Destroyer, I'll change to an Infiltrator. Because you pretty much need at least one for most Objectives.

Speaking of Objectives, fuck the new Escort mission! You can't use Tactical Cloak to do it, so if you're an Infiltrator and you cloak, you're actually slowing down the progress! Ridiculous!

I got an N7 Slayer in the reward pack. Wasn't massively enthralled from playing with it for a few minutes, prefer the Shadow.

In other news:

Leviathan expands upon the events of Mass Effect 3 with gripping and emotional storytelling, compelling new characters, powerful weapons and unique upgrades. Players will be able to discover more about the origins of the reapers as they race across the galaxy to unravel the mystery that surrounds the fabled Leviathan.

N7 Slayer is good for if you don't have N7 Shadow. Obviously the Slayer is better for Cerberus and Reapers whilst the Shadow is better for Geth (which are the easier class to play against). Slayer is a lot more useful against Bosses though, I'd wager. Especially having the Biotic Pulse attack that can do a fair bit of damage against Armour.

Playing against Geth as a Slayer is hard, due to Biotic Slash's attack animation taking so long. However, a Slayer can fuck up Pyros pretty quick using Biotic Slash. And Biotic Slash goes right through walls and other forms of cover, so you can actually use cover to hide AND attack at the same time without exposing yourself to attacks. But Biotic Slash is a pain to use during extraction, though. You have to make sure to move backward while using it so you don't end up outside the circle.

One thing I've found funny is I've seen a few Slayers who rely on Phase Disruptor a lot. Since Phase Disruptor drains your shields, that's crazy in most cases. I wouldn't dream of using it without Efficient Blast, and I tend to only use it as a kill shot or a desperation move.

I generally only carry a Carnifex when I play my Slayer, and it always has the piercing mod equipped....unless I'm packing armor piercing ammo.

That's exactly what I do use Phase Disruptor for, but I mean I've seen some Slayers who use Phase Disruptor left and right and barely, if ever, touch Biotic Slash.

Using the Piranha on a Slayer? I may have to try that. I usually just carry a Carnifex, like I said before. I prefer precision when playing a Vanguard, so I use either a Carnifex or a Paladin most of the time when I play a Vanguard. I only carry 2 weapons on a Vanguard if I'm playing an Asari (SMG.) or Krogan (Shotgun with the shredder equipped. Usually the Eviscerator or Geth Plasma)

The Hurricane has waaaaay too much recoil for me. I know that Turians can handle it due to getting stability modifiers in their powers (and a Turian Soldier can really go to town with it when he's using Marksman), but I prefer to slot assault rifles, sniper rifles or shotguns on my Turians. I have the Hurricane at rank II, and I've only used it once or twice, and that was when I first got it.

I believe as well as extending the endings, which is what they really did, they also added or extended a couple of cutscenes during the game. So downloading it will enhance more than just the actual endings.

So I'm off from work on bank holiday week, and figure it might be as good a time as any to do an ME series playthrough. I was pure soldier last time through, what class and squads would people suggest me using if I'm stepping up the difficulty?

Definitely check the weapons for each class. I wasn't happy playing as an Adept in two, only to find out you can only really use the SMG. Which is awful.

Engineers are pretty fun once you hit ME2.

Infiltrator. Most definitely Infiltrator. You use powers a lot more, you have to be more careful with how you fight, but it really amps up the challenge.
