Confessor

Of the tragedies in man

Lurking in the core of us all

The last dying call for the everlost

Brief encounters, bleeding pain

Lepers coiled neath the trees

Dying men in bewildered soliloquys

Perversions bloom round the bend

Seekers, lost in their quest

Ghosts of friends frolic

under the waning moon

It is the year of death

Wielding his instruments

Stealth sovereign reaper

Touching us with ease

Infecting the roots in an instant

Burning crop of disease

I am just a spectator

An advocate documenting the loss

Fluttering with conceit

This doesn't concern me yet

Still far from the knell

Taunting their bereavement

Mob round the dead

Point fingers at the details

Probing vomits for more

Caught in unbridled suspense

We have all lost it now

Catching the flakes of dismay

Born the travesty of man

Regular pulse midst pandemonium

You're plucked to the mass

Parched with thirst for the wicked

Sick liaisons raised this monumental mark

The sun sets forever over Blackwater park

Opeth - "Blackwater Park"

Nas feat. AZ - Life's A Bitch

[Verse One: AZ the Visualiza]

Visualizin the realism of life and actuality

Fuck who's the baddest a person's status depends on salary

And my mentality is, money orientated

I'm destined to live the dream for all my peeps who never made it

cause yeah, we were beginners in the hood as five percenters

But somethin must of got in us cause all of us turned to sinners

Now some, restin in peace and some are sittin in San Quentin

Others such as myself are tryin to carry on tradition

Keepin the schwepervesence street ghetto essence inside us

Cause it provides us with the proper insight to guide us

Even though, we know somehow we all gotta go

but as long as we leavin thievin we'll be leavin with some kind of dough

so, and to that day we expire and turn to vapors

me and my capers-ll be somewhere stackin plenty papers

Keepin it real, packin steel, gettin high

Cause life's a bitch and then you die

[Chorus: AZ the Visualiza]

Life's a bitch and then you die; that's why we get high

Cause you never know when you're gonna go

Life's a bitch and then you die; that's why we puff lye

Cause you never know when you're gonna go

Life's a bitch and then you die; that's why we get high

Cause you never know when you're gonna go

Life's a bitch and then you die; that's why we puff lye

--> chorus #1 echoes at the end

Cause you never know when you're gonna go

Life's a bitch and then you die

--> chorus #2 includes these lines, echoes at the end

[Verse Two: Nas]

I woke up early on my born day, I'm twenty years of blessing

The essence of adolescent leaves my body now I'm fresh in

My physical frame is celebrated cause I made it

One quarter through life some God-ly like thing created

Got rhymes 365 days annual plus some

Load up the mic and bust one, cuss while I puffs from

my skull cause it's pain in my brain vein money maintain

Don't go against the grain simple and plain

When I was young at this I used to do my thing hard

Robbin foreigners take they wallets they jewels and rip they green cards

Dipped to the projects flashin my quick cash

and got my first piece of ass smokin blunts with hash

Now it's all about cash in abundance, niggaz I used to run with

is rich or doin years in the hundreds

I switched my motto -- instead of sayin fuck tomorrow

That buck that bought a bottle could've struck the lotto

Once I stood on the block, loose cracks produce stacks

I cooked up and cut small pieces to get my loot back

Time is Illmatic keep static like wool fabric

Pack a four-matic that crack your whole cabbage

Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arrive, you were only waiting for this moment to be free.

Zero 7 - Destiny

Its first line is about porn for some unknown reason but its....just....beautiful!

Outkast - Prototype

Maybe one of the best pop/hip hop/rock (or just experimental) I've heard from this generation (2000-present).

Incubus - Warning

Another brilliant song from one of the better musical bands out there.

And....that's about it until I can think of something else.

Are you Sad by Our Lady Peace

Your life has been so hard. It's

Dried up angels that can't keep guard

And I'm trying to reach your hand, but

I'm on fire - I never meant to

Fade...away.  Wait...for me.

Oh, just stop pretending

When they say you're nothing.

Some of my all-time favorites and some new songs I've taken a liking to:

"Screaming Infidelities" - Dashboard Confessionals

"So Cold" - Breaking Benjamin

"Time of Your Life" - Green Day

"Honestly" - Zwan

"Hanging By A Moment" - Life House

"Warning" - Incubus

"How You Remind Me" - Nickleback

"This Is My Life" - Staind

"Wonderful" - Everclear

And that's just to name a few. I never listen to any song I hear just once, I have to hear it quite a few times just to decide if I like it and try to figure out the meaning.

"White Trash Beautiful" by Everlast is great as well.

Basically anything by Vertical Horizon, Live, and Johnny Cash (anything he wrote about Rose).

What do you guys think about this; you may want to read it a few times before replying to get the tone, scheme, and thought/meaning behind it:

Teenage Drama

You say you're gonna run away one day

You say you've had enough of this bullshit and hear-say

He says he's gonna be the one to make her stay

He says he's gonna be the one to make her change her ways

You all turn your backs and walk away

You all pretend you don't hear the warning she has to say

And the teenage drama starts again

And just like that we lose another kid

If only he was tehre to help with the thoughts that went through her head

Society cries by her grave and claims to be her best friend

Where were they while she cried herself to sleep before she went to bed?

He cries as he was the only one to ever care in her life

He can't even cut his food without thinking about the blood on the end of the knife

Everyone blames him for everything he did that wasn't right

A tear drops every time he hears another couple fight

You all turn your backs and walk away on a lonely kid who made a few mistakes

"Jesus To A Child" by George Michael.

Here's an excerpt from the song:

Kindness in your eyes,

I guess you heard me cry;

You smiled at me,

Like Jesus to a child.

I'm blessed I know.

Heaven sent and heaven stole;

You smiled at me,

Like Jesus to a child.

And what have I learned,

From all this pain;

I thought I'd never feel the same,

About anyone or anything again.

But now i know...

When you find love,

When you know that it exists;

Then the lover that you miss,

Will come to you on those cold, cold nights.

When you've been loved,

When you know it holds such bliss;

Then the lover that you kissed,

Will comfort you when there's no hope in sight.

Sadness in my eyes,

No one guessed, well no one tried;

You smiled at me,

Like Jesus to a child.

Loveless and cold,

With your last breath you saved my soul;

You smiled at me,

Like Jesus to a child.

And what have i learned,

From all these tears;

I've waited for you all those years;

Then just when it began,

He took your love away.

"What a Wonderful World" - Louis Armstrong

I see trees of green, red roses too

I see them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white

The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky

Are also on the faces of people going by

I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do

They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow

They'll learn much more than I'll never know

And I think to myself what a wonderful world

Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Tom Waits- "Alice"

It's dreamy weather we're on

You waved your crooked wand

Along an icy pond with a frozen moon

A murder of silhouette crows I saw

And the tears on my face

And the skates on the pond

They spell Alice

I disappear in your name

But you must wait for me

Somewhere across the sea

There's a wreck of a ship

Your hair is like meadow grass on the tide

And the raindrops on my window

And the ice in my drink

Baby all I can think of is Alice

Arithmetic arithmetock

Turn the hands back on the clock

How does the ocean rock the boat?

How did the razor find my throat?

The only strings that hold me here

Are tangled up around the pier

And so a secret kiss

Brings madness with the bliss

And I will think of this

When I'm dead in my grave

Set me adrift and I'm lost over there

And I must be insane

To go skating on your name

And by tracing it twice

I fell through the ice

Of Alice

And so a secret kiss

Brings madness with the bliss

And I will think of this

When I'm dead in my grave

Set me adrift and I'm lost over there

And I must be insane

To go skating on your name

And by tracing it twice

I fell through the ice

Of Alice

There's only Alice
