"Beautiful" Songs

Between the Buried and Me - The ending of "Shevanel Cut a Flip"

Poison the Well - "Horns and Tails"

hopesfall - "Open Hands to the Wind"

silverchair - "Miss You Love"

And the one I'll give lyrics for, Misery Signals - "The Year Summer Ended in June". The band's vocalist used to be in a band called Compromise. A few years ago, the band got into a major automobile crash, and two of the members died - one of them being Jordan. The lead singer obviously made it out alive, and went on to join Misery Signals. This was one of the first songs that the group wrote together.

This time, it was our summer.

It was something no one could take from us.

Sometimes that night seems so close, like I could hold it.

You said, "Alright, we'll be fine."

How could we have known?

Do you remember? Roll down the window, let in the air.

I always thought we'd be together.

You said that we'd never gone this way before.

I must not let you die.

Your memory survives.

Hope that tonight things are fine.

As I lay awake, the light cuts the southern sky, and that glass stings my lungs.

These scars, they will always remind me of you, and how you're always with me.

Won't you stay, and be with me tonight?

Don't you know I tried to find those pictures with no light?

I lost them, as I lost you.

Waiting to see, and be with you again.

Wishing the best for you my lost friend.

To hear you laugh one last time..

I hope you know I tried to find those pictures of us, that night in Detroit with the Pressure Point.

And I, I now feel the need to fly, and hide inside your loving arms

And I swear, I'd give the whole thing up for you.

Broken Social Scene; "Anthems for A Teenage Girl"

I don't know what it is about this song. Just so lovely, so beautiful. I can listen to it for hours on end.

Joe Strummer and Johnny Cash; "Redemption Song"

Given the circumstances of both men, this song deserves a listen.

Moneen; "Lifes Too Short Little Ndugu"

I hate emo. But I love Moneen. And this is one of my favorite songs.

Refused; "Return to the Closet"

Everytime Dennis screams, I feel something.

There are a few other songs by Sloan, K-OS, the Streets, but I thought I'd just mention some of the ones I didn't see listed.

Amazed by Lonestar

This Years Love by David Gray

Have A Little Faith In Me by John Hiatt

My Sweet Lord by George Harrison

Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney

No More Lonely Nights by Paul McCarney

And just the lyrics from Here Today by Paul McCartney, written about John Lennon

And if I say I really knew you well

What would your answer be.

If you were here today.

Ooh- ooh- ooh- here to - day.

Well knowing you,

You’d probably laugh and say that we were worlds apart.

If you were here today.

Ooh- ooh- ooh- here to - day.

But as for me,

I still remember how it was before.

And I am holding back the tears no more.

Ooh- ooh- ooh- I love you, ooh-

What about the time we met,

Well I suppose that you could say that we were playing hard to get.

Didn’t understand a thing.

But we could always sing.

What about the night we cried,

Because there wasn’t any reason left to keep it all inside.

Never understood a word.

But you were always there with a smile.

And if I say I really loved you

And was glad you came along.

If you were here today.

Ooh- ooh- ooh- for you were in my song.

Ooh- ooh- ooh- here to - day

Most of the songs by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are well written.

Into My Arms:

I don't believe in an interventionist God

But I know, darling, that you do

But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him

Not to intervene when it came to you

Not to touch a hair on your head

To leave you as you are

And if He felt He had to direct you

Then direct you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms

And I don't believe in the existence of angels

But looking at you I wonder if that's true

But if I did I would summon them together

And ask them to watch over you

To each burn a candle for you

To make bright and clear your path

And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love

And guide you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms

And I believe in Love

And I know that you do too

And I believe in some kind of path

That we can walk down, me and you

So keep your candlew burning

And make her journey bright and pure

That she will keep returning

Always and evermore

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms, O Lord

Into my arms

(To) Make You Feel My Love - Bob Dylan (any version of that song is beautful)

There's a silence full of stars

For as far as I can see

In the silence where you are

Do you ever dream of me?

The moon is dark; the night is silver

Wild perfume is on the breeze

I feel the stars cold as forever

Half as true as you and me

I'll be your friend; I'll be your lover

I'll be whatever you ever need

Right to the end, until it's over

I swear to you, you can count on me

But my heart is breaking here tonight

My soul is weary from the fight

My God, I've tried and I've been true

My love, I'm coming home to you

The name she gave was Caroline

The daughter of a miner

And her ways were free and it seemed to me

The sunshine walked beside her

She come from Spencer 'coss the hill

She said her Pa had sent her

'Cause the coal was low and soon the snow

Would tuwn the skies to winter

Well she said she'd come to look for work

She was not seeking favors

For a dime a day and a place to stay

She'd turn those hands to labor

The times were hard Lord the jobs were few

All through Tecumseh Valley

But she asked around and a job she found

Tending bar for Gypsy Sally

She saved enough to get back home

When spring replaced the winter

But her dreams were denied her Pa had died

The word came down from Spencer

She turned to whorin' out on the streets

With all the lust inside her

It was many a man returned again

To lay himself beside her

Well they found her down beneath the stairs

That led to Gypsy Sally's

In her hand when she died

Was a note that cried

Fare thee well Tecumseh Valley

Would you lay with me

in a field of stone

If my needs were strong,

would you lay with me

Should my lips grow dry,

would you wet them dear

In the midnight hour

if my lips grow dry

chorus:

Would you go away

to another land

walk a thousand miles

through the burning sand

Wipe the blood away

from my dying hand

if I give myself to you

Would you bathe with me

in the stream of life

when the moon is full

will you bathe with me

Will you still love me

when I'm down and out

in my time of trials

will you stand by me

repeat chorus

would you lay with me

in a field of stone

will you bathe with me

in the stream of life

will you still love me

when I'm down and out.

Pack up all your dishes.

Make note of all good wishes.

Say goodbye to the landlord for me.

That son of a bitch has always bored me.

Throw out them LA papers

And that moldy box of vanilla wafers.

Adios to all this concrete.

Gonna get me some dirt road back street

Chorus

If I can just get off of this LA freeway

Without getting killed or caught

I'd be down that road in a cloud of smoke

For some land that I ain't bought bought bought

Here's to you old skinny Dennis

Only one I think I will miss

I can hear that old bass singing

Sweet and low like a gift you're bringin'

Play it for me just one more time now

Got to give it all we can now

I beleive everything your saying

Just keep on, keep on playing

Chorus

And you put the pink card in the mailbox

Leave the key in the old front door lock

They will find it likely as not

I'm sure there's somethin' we have forgot

Oh Susanna, don't you cry, babe

Love's a gift that's surely handmade

We've got something to believe in

Dontcha' think it's time we're leavin'

Chorus

Repeat 1/2 of verse 1
