Lingard is very average 90% of the time, tbh. When he's got space to work in, his movement is good, but against a team that sits in, he looks lost most of the time. I knew he'd struggle against West Brom, and he offered nothing against Everton when we needed a player to step up. He's not even a youngster either, so it's not as if it's an unrealistic pressure to put on him.

If you're gonna do sarcasm, everyone knows you need to do it in comic sans

You'd think the £90 million signing would step up then. Or the striker earning more than anyone else in the league...

Oh, absolutely. Couldn't agree more. But with the amount of chances Lingard gets, he should step up too. I think 100k a week for a player who shouldn't be making the starting line up this season, let alone next when changes are made in the summer, is too much though.

He refuses to beat a man, he's easily bullied off the ball, and can't operate in tight areas when we're attacking. He either plays safe (like most of them this season tbf) or loses the ball. Yeah, he's capable of the odd worldie but so was Nani. At least he was skillful to go with it.

I think we're at a point where being surprised or shocked at players going for tens of millions of pounds more than they would've a decade ago or demanding 80k+ a week in whats the richest league in the world is just going to get tiring. When guys like Negredo, Wilshere and Llorente are on upwards of 80-100k a week and with the TV deal, players are going to demand more and clubs are going to give it to them.

To put it in some sort of perspective, Jesse Lingard now earns more per week than Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane.

Levy's played a blinder.

Lingard deal is stupid and basically makes him unsellable now as who else would be stupid enough to pay such wages?

But then again we do have a habit of overpaying players and at least Lingard gets used more than Rooney who is costing us 300 odd thousand a week.

Hopefully one day football will regain its sense and the fees and wages will tumble.

Generally, aside from the 'Young and English' 300% mark up, they are sensible. Football is the world's most popular sport and as such, is a multi billion pound, global industry. It's only fair that the players get a significant portion of that revenue in the form of wages and bonuses, otherwise it just ends up in the pockets of businessmen and faceless corporations.

A more pressing problem with wealth in football is inequality of distribution and how inadequately money finds it's way down into the grassroots levels of the game, without them, there's no industry.

This has started well. Spurs looking like they can score from every attack, and Watford have good pace on the counter.

Just like you after a few pints it could go either way

Pick that one out

But take away the goal for that awful display of handshaking
