That isn't a very fun start to the season but Guidolin has some good results against top teams. Burnley makes a nice change for the opening day fixture as it's usually a Manchester team.

Emerson Hyndman is a revelation at Bournemouth and they survive relegation

Hull, Watford, and Sunderland go down

Chelsea finish 3rd and Spurs finish 4th without ever really challenging for the title.  Arsenal wins the league by beating Spurs at WHL at the end of the season, City finishes 2nd after flaming out through April and Liverpool beats out WH for 5th by 5 or more points and WH is 6th over ManU by at least a full match.

WH win the FA Cup

Stoke continues steady progression up the table and pushes for 7th ... Leiceister does no higher than 8th

Southampton are closing in on the appointment of Claude Puel as their manager. A deal to hire the 54-year-old as the replacement for Ronald Koeman following the Dutchman’s move to Everton is expected to be concluded by the end of the week.

Puel has never worked outside of France, having spent his playing career at Monaco, where he was coached by Arsène Wenger, before making his management debut in the principality. He won Ligue 1 in 2000 and then went on to enjoy a six-year spell at Lille, before taking over at Lyon and leading them to the Champions League semi-finals. He has spent the last four years as the coach of Nice, who last season finished fourth in Ligue 1.

Puel will be taking over a club that qualified for the Europa League following a sixth-place finish in the Premier League but yet again face a summer of transition. Alongside Koeman, Victor Wanyama has also left Southampton, joining Tottenham for £11m, while the striker Saido Mané is close to joining Liverpool for £30m.

Southampton signed Nathan Redmond from Norwich for £10m over the weekend.

Looks a good appointment to me. People criticised Pochettino's hiring, they were apprehensive about Koeman. It keeps working out because they find a manager who fits the philosophy and maybe this will do the same. Puel may never have managed outside of France, but his record in that country is outstanding really.
