Finally up-to-date with Taskmaster (UK)

Recommended Posts

I don't think Lou can actually lose at this point. Seems like she's way ahead of everyone else points-wise.

I've read a lot of stuff complaining about Lou, and maybe sometimes she's given more points than she really deserves in some cases, but I've enjoyed her. This series has been really good in my eyes, there really is no one on the cast that I dislike.

i binge watched all of taskmaster last week

I really love this show. I've been singing 'He thinks he's tall, but he's not tall... little... Alex..... HORNE' all afternoon. This season has had some great moments. During episode 1 I thought

Got the Taskmaster boardgame for Christmas. Played one game at my sisters place. it was carnage. highly recommend.

I predicted Lou would win after episode 1. She immediately seemed like Greg's favourite, and that pretty much guarantees victory (unless you're Rhod Gilbert and you make it work against you). For example, see Josh Widdicombe, Noel Fielding, Bob Mortimer, Liza Tarbuck and Kerry Godliman.

I went and added it up, standings are:

Spoiler

Lou - 152
Ian - 138
Joe - 138
Sian - 130
Paul - 125

So there's 14 points in it. If Sian hadn't gotten Joe disqualified in the ball task in episode 8 I reckon he'd have been in with a shot. Assuming they do 5 tasks in the finale Ian and Joe basically need Lou to come last in all of them and to get the top two spots between them on every task.

Baddiel and Brand should be amazing and I've always liked Katy Wix in her sitcoms and sketches so it'll be fun to see her in a new context.

I feel like I know the other two from somewhere, but I'm sure they'll be good. Really looking forward to this one.

Rose Matefeo is a stand up comedian. She's very good. She's alsoJames Acasters ex.  She's been on hypothetical and a few other things.

Ed Gamble was on one of the very early Brit comedy podcasts in the massive wake of the Ricky Gervais podcast. It was called the Peacock and Gamble podcast. He seemed to disappear for a few years while he lost an incredible amount of weight, then came back super hench. He's been on Roast Battle, Hypothetical, a bunch of other stuff and currently hosts the Off Menu podcast with James Acaster.

UKTV  and Avalon are understood to have reached an impasse over the future of  Taskmaster  – with other broadcasters thought to be eying Dave’s hit format.
There is industry speculation that  Channel 4  is “actively engaged” in early-stage talks with the production company about picking up the five-year old show if an agreement with UKTV cannot be reached.
ITV  has also made no secret of its admiration for the innovative format, which has spawned a number of international remakes and won best entertainment programme at the Broadcast Awards 2018.
Both terrestrial channels are known to covet the format, which has generated audiences of up to 1.5m this year and accounts for the channel’s 15 top-performing shows.
The show, fronted by Greg Davies and co-creator Alex Horne, has run for nine series on Dave but no agreement has been reached ahead of this Wednesday’s conclusion of the current run, the last of a two-year, four-series deal.
“It’s a huge hit on the channel but UKTV can’t accept that it needs to re-negotiate properly,” said an industry source. “Independent production companies have to make money out of shows when they’re hits, otherwise they can’t keep going.”

That's a bugger, it's on a real roll at the moment. On the flip side a delay might help Alex/Tim and the rest come up with new ideas for tasks, and a bigger budget would be interesting for both contestants and tasks.

Yeah, if I were them I'd throw money at it, it's the best original they've had in a good while.

I'm gonna guess with the next season up in the air that we won't find out the next set of contestants post-final like last time.

This might just be more on that same report, but it looks like this is going to be the last series on UKTV:

I'm watching the past series on UKTV Play at the moment so I'd better get them finished quickly.

No post-credit scene/announcement as expected so I guess we just wait and see.

I also wonder if we'll see a second Champions series after a tenth series if it moves channel, it would almost seem like a new timeline for the show.
