  1. Hey Bill, thanks as always for what you do, yadda yadda. :P

I've been looking at WWE's active roster and had some ideas for potential gimmick changes. Throw 'em around and do with them what you will. Hope everybody's well..

-Jack Swagger from Legitimate Athlete to Cocky- LA to me seems more suited for someone like Goldberg when he first debuted, or Taz as the human suplex machine. Or someone like Shelton Benjamin as a face early in his career..basically, they should let their wrestling do the talking. I think cocky suits Swagger a little better as his whole promo is him talking about his own accomplishments; thats what he's all about.

-The Miz from Cocky to Obnoxious- The reason we're meant to dislike Miz is simple: he's annoying!

-MVP from Legitimate Athlete to Cool- again, not sure he fits the legit athlete mold

-Chris Masters to Fun Babyface- the dancing pecs seems to be the basis for his act right now

-William Regal from Royalty to Arrogant- He's not meant to be an actual king, and he doesn't do the king get-up like Booker did. Its not the main part of his character.

-Batista from Man Beast to Egomaniac- the guy is obsessed with his own image, thats what the heel turn and the beef with Cena is all about, Batista deciding he hasn't been getting his props as the #1 man. Its all he talks about. Its an ego trip. And he doesn't mind walking away from matches and attacking people to eventually get his way, because he's obsessed with it now. MB worked for him as a face but this sticks out as one that needs updating to me.

-Linda McMahon from Authority Figure to Unique- When I loaded my new game, the writers said AF wasn't working. Besides, should we EVER have to worry about Linda McMahon's gimmick "going stale?" Thats crazy.

-Heath Slater from Rock Star to Cool- The writers also had a problem with this one. He doesn't fit the gimmick description anyway, where Chris Jericho during the King of the World days is the example.

Also, I'm not sure if you know that Primo currently has higher overness than Carlito? Maybe bring Carlito up from 67 to around 73? Primo is at 70.

  2. Really? There are Burton trademarks in there, similar to what you see in Nightmare, Corpse Bride, Ed Scissorhands, etc. The white faces and the dark eyes, the white contrasting with black everywhere in the film, and whatnot. All things considered it looks incredibly similar to Batman Returns, its like they take place around the corner from each other.

  3. As LGM alluded to, Sweeney Todd is excellent on Blu-Ray. Seeing Burton's cinematography, lighting, and makeup in BR is just awesome. He's really a master at using color and lighting to make his films intriguing visually and the format obviously brings that out. Can't recommend it enough.

  4. I'm glad the show is continuing...I'll assume it won't be as good as the Scrubs we remember, but what does that really matter? It'll still probably be one of the best shows on TV.

I wonder if they'll have an actual main character (the young black intern?), or if they'll make it a true ensemble cast. Too much attention on Turk, Carla and Cox might get old after awhile without JD, and I don't wanna see this become the That 70s Show episodes after Topher left. Should be interesting.

  5. EWR Name Generator, v1.5

    Size: <1MB.

Today I've been making a simple Name Generator, which can be used for a variety of purposes, including EWR.

Here is the first version of it (v1.5), and there may be a chance of an update in the coming days or weeks that will add more functionality (with remove duplicate names from the database feature for example) if I can figure out how to do them.

Just simply extract the file and run the .exe file and if all goes to plan, you should be going good!

Anyway, at present, there are only 6 names each in both the male and female first and last name databases, but you can add your own (instructions are given in the program). This is the test data, hence the low name count, but I will be adding more at some point, but it's quite late right now. The name file updates will be released on their own as a program update will not be needed.

It works via the command line, so no fancy graphics. Whilst it may not be fancy looking, it does the job and is extremely lightweight. Also you can save your 'favourite' generated names in an output file for later viewing.

The maximum number of names you can generator in one cycle is 100, but the program will run until you quit it.

If you spot any errors or encounter any, give me a shout. Also, spread the word!

Awesome! I'll be hella interested in this when you put out the update with more names. The name generators I find through Google always give me the shittiest names, they're no help at all. Good work.

  6. I don't know fellas, I don't think I want Scrubs without JD and Turk. The show is their journey, and without them, the spirit of it is lost. Makes me think of the That 70s Show episodes after Topher left. Scrubs wouldn't be that bad because the interns are interesting...but there's no way they could make it feel quite right, in my opinion.

  7. Do you have an updated roster so far?

Because this sounds extremely interesting and I'm looking to help out in any way to make it even the slightest bit more interesting. Also then maybe I could help you out with some other characters, but I'm not sure.

Anyway I'm looking forward to when it's completed, keep it up.

Well I'd rather not upload any more data...I trust enough has been shown that nobody thinks this is some kinda hoax. Potter, LOTR and Pirates can be found elsewhere in this thread (sans some minor changes/additions/subtractions). The Star Wars characters have already been created in the editor, and the list has been deleted, so you'll just have to wait to see that one. ;)

DC Comics (which is finished) and Marvel Comics (which I'm just starting) are in spoiler tags below. Characters from Incredible Hulk and Iron Man will be added when those films are released on DVD, as with my job at a video store, I didn't bother to see 'em in the theatre. The workers are seperated by their specific film series.

  8. Are you gonna include the Robocop series? You already have the Terminator series.

Also the Predator, Xenomorph, Jigsaw, Hannibal lector have to be friee agents or something :pervert:

I am indeed interested. And I think SykoD is onto something. I know you have the 15 or so promotions with their characters, but for movies that haven't been included as a promotion, are you going to add some of their characters as free agents? As SykoD said, Predator, Jigsaw etc.

The thing is, I kind of have my mind set on finishing these 15 promotions that have been chosen, and getting this thing released. I may end up continuing to work on the scenario after its finished, eventually releasing some sort of second edition with more promotions and a free agent pool. But for now I want to get this thing done and get it out there, cause by the looks of it there are some people who really want to play it as soon as possible.

Along those lines, regarding ideas for promotions in general: unless there's something out there nobody's thought of that this game just needs, new ideas will have a tough time getting into the game (or at least the initial release). The only way they'll get in is if we run into some problem while creating one of the 15 promotions already chosen (such as not having enough workers or not having a face/heel ratio even close to even, either of which could happen with promotions like Terminator and Matrix).

    I'm interested...keep going man!

Definitely interested in this, keep it up!

I wanna play EWR, but I'm bored of wrestling.. so I would love to play this, finish 'er up man.

    I'm still very interessted :)

Glad to see the enthusiasm. I'm doing what I can to get this scenario out there for you. (Y)

    May I make one suggestion?

How about changing Jack Sparrows gimmick from Unique to Fun Drunk?

With his charisma, he should propell into Unique very quickly anyways :)

You certainly may make a suggestion, and thats a good one. That change may well be made if there are no objections.

I really wanted to give him the Guru gimmick. The description seems to fit him perfectly: "This worker portrays a guru, whose fast-talking and persuasive

tongue get him what he wants." Thats exactly how Jack gets what he wants. And on top of that, one of the requirements of the gimmick is 80+ charisma, so you know his high charisma would be utilized. Alas, the gimmick requires a Heel or Tweener disposition, and it would have been a bit of a stretch to make Jack a Tweener as he's pretty clearly a Face in the 2nd and 3rd movies. Unable to think of anything else, I went with Unique, but Fun Drunk could work well also.

DC Comics is just about finished, meaning 5 down and 10 to go. Marvel is likely next. Hopefully promotions will be banged out quicker as as we get to the franchises with smaller rosters. DC went pretty quickly. I'll keep ya guys posted. :)

  9. Well...huh. Its sure been a long time. I see the board this was posted on doesn't even exist anymore...

Anybody out there still interested in this?

I apologize for my abrupt disappearance, to those of you who were excited about it. I actually ended up traveling through Israel (and unexpectedly India) for the last 2 months or so. Great trip, lot of fun, some amazing experiences...unfortunately, EWR wasn't the first thing on my mind.

I really wish I could've gotten a post up before I left explaining the situation, but plans for the trip only became concrete a couple of weeks before I left, and that unfortunately didn't happen.

I've been back for about two weeks or so, and have picked up work on this again. I finished up Star Wars (something like 74 workers), and I'm about halfway through DC Comics. I'd like to reiterate that I'm certain this will be finished sooner or later. I hope there's still some interest out there.

Just thought I'd let you guys know this is still going ahead. Anybody still listening? :)

Some smaller feds are needed...can't think of any specific ones off the top of my head

The amount of money a film/series has made needs to be reflected in the amount of money each fed has

Great job, a very interesting idea!

Regarding smaller feds, I do remember I planned out what level each of the 15 promotions currently planned would be, and a few of them were as low as Cult. Not sure anything smaller than that is needed?

Regarding money, you're right. We'll have to figure out a way to implement that.

Again, sorry for the abrupt disappearance...hope people are still interested.

  10. As a Canadian, saying something bad about Degrassi gives me the liberty to stab you.

And as a New Jerseyan, saying something bad about Kevin Smith gives me the liberty to stab him... ^_^

  11. I just came across this topic and was wondering how the updates and such are going if its still going ahead, I hope that it is...

If you are still interested in suggestion I think a staff pool of people who worked on the films would be great but then again would be hard work for you, so I suppose it comes down to whatever you want to do for that one...

I also reckon that your idea with the movie being the show and the film production company being the network was an excellent idea so you should stick with that! :)

And finally earlier I saw someone post something about Transformers, I think you could put together a promotion for that and just have it a smaller roster and smaller production, if thats what you want to do

    Keep up the good work

Great to see someone interested, as by the time this is done with, I'll have put an immense amount of effort into it. Thanks for reading all my nonsense... ^_^

Regarding promotions, I'm going to have a strict rule that all promotions must include at least 2 films. The idea is to have the biggest movie franchises up against each other, so stand-alone films don't really have a place. Bit of an update with promotions, the Tarantino/Rodriguez promotion has been split into a Tarantino compilation (which will include Pulp Fiction, Rez Dogs, Kill Bill, and probably From Dusk Till Dawn), and an El Mariachi promotion to represent Rodriguez. The Ocean's Series and The Terminator have tentatively been added to the promotions list, bringing us to a total of 15 at the moment:

    Blade

    DC Comics

    El Mariachi

    Harry Potter

    Lord of the Rings

    Marvel Comics

    The Matrix

    Mortal Kombat

    The Mummy

    Ocean's Trilogy

    Pirates of the Caribbean

    Quentin Tarantino Compilation

    Star Wars

    The Terminator

    Underworld

Progress had slowed down for awhile due to my taking about a month off from this as I began my college career this semester, but its been picked up again. Star Wars (with its annoyingly big roster) is almost complete, haven't yet decided which one I'll take on next.

By the way, I've just about knocked out most of the biggest franchises, and my main sources have been Wikipedia pages devoted to listing the characters that appear in the films...if there are any big fans of some of these other ones (Pirates, LOTR, Star Wars and Potter are okay) who know where I might find a list of characters, it'd be great if you could share a link...I haven't yet checked how well Wikipedia covers all of these.

Regarding staff, still undecided on how it will be handled. I could just pull off random names of people who worked on the movies, but I'd have no idea what their stats should look like.

I'm also thinking more and more that the promotions should be made to look like actual wrestling companies, with the Titles and Events being named as such. Someone had an idea that Titles could be achievements characters can get in their movies, which would work great for something like Lord of the Rings (titles could be Ringbearer, Ruler of Gondor, Ruler of Rohan, etc.) but it would be hard to decide what to use for some of the other promotions, like the Comics, Matrix, Mummy, Tarantino, Underworld, Blade, etc.

Don't hesitate to post your thoughts. :)

  12. My father and I made the drive up to Buffalo for a weekend in early September (I remember because it was for the Bills opener), and I went to the Falls for the first time. It was a bit strange, because there was all this mist surrounding the area to the point where you couldn't see the bottom of the waterfall, where the water fell to, that is...it took away from the sight a bit. My father remarked he didn't remember it being that way, and that picture is a much clearer view.

Any idea why it was different when I went?
