  1. Hunt will in all likelihood not get the shot, but it would probably be the best fight out of all the possibilities. Would make for a great stand up war, and I think Hunt presents a better challenge to JDS than Mir, and Cain was beaten too comprehensively for a rematch to be warranted at this stage IMO. Plus Cain got his shot after beating Rothwell and Kongo, the same two guys that Hunt just beat. Werdum is an outside shot, but the last time he was seen in the UFC hr was getting KTFO by JDS, plus no-one wants to see him flop around on the floor again.

Dana just confirmed as well that Mir v Cain will be going ahead as well.

    WAR HUNT!

  2. Bisping is talented, but he has always been matched up very favourably against mid tier opponents. He has good technical striking, good TD defense and is pretty decent off of his back. Leben/Akiyama were perfect match ups - brawlers who Bisping could stay on the outside with and pick apart. Dan Miller is a tough fighter who is just that - good BJJ but Bisping's takedown defence was always going to force the fight standing. Mayhem turned up looking and fighting like shit, and Bisping looked a bit under par IMO in that fight as well. His losses have always come against fighters he hasn't been matched up well with - Hamill (worst decision ever), Evans and Chael were all able to grapplefuck him, and Hendo had that fight wherever it went - I called a 1st/2nd round KO or a 3 round GnP fest as soon as that fight was announced. Whilst the Silva fight was close, it showed Bisping's complete lack of power - any technically skilled stand up fighter with aggresison will just be able to take the fight to Bisping.

I do think Bisping is a good (not great) fighter who probably floats around top 7-10 of a relatively weak division. I fully expect him to be given Maia next who he will beat on the feet in a decision, face someone like Aaron Simpson who will not be able to pin him down for a great length of time and will win another decision, then lose to someone like Belfort by KO or Munoz by grapplefuck.

  3. Let's see, that's four wins on the trot including today's, I think, to keep us firmly ensconced in the automatic promotion spots. Today's one, I only saw the Zhi goal but that was a beauty - Thomas messes up his first touch but somehow that confuses his marker, so Thomas keeps the ball, puts it into the box, Zhi picks up on it, left foot, pow. Preston's goalie had no fucking chance.

It is a good time to be a Charlton fan.

  4. A MULTI-MILLION pound takeover of Ipswich Town was announced today.

The club announced it has been successful in attracting a significant investor whose investment will secure the financial future of the Club.

The proposed private investment from Marcus Evans, a successful businessman, involves the purchase of approximately £32million of external debt as well as an additional investment of £12million through the issue of new shares by the Club.

This will stabilise the Club financially, supporting it in its ambition of returning to the Premiership.

The investment is subject to contract, which is conditional upon the completion of due diligence.

The transaction will result in Mr Evans becoming the majority owner and shareholder (87.5%) of the Club; importantly, existing shareholders will retain their shares, albeit as a minority group.

The board unanimously believes the offer is in the best interests of all stakeholders and intends, subject to contract and due diligence, to recommend it to shareholders.

Full details will be circulated to shareholders in due course, after which they will be asked to vote on the transaction at a general meeting.

David Sheepshanks, chairman of Ipswich Town FC, said: “Marcus Evans' investment is potentially great news for Ipswich Town Football Club.

“The Board have been in discussion with Marcus Evans for some time. We are pleased now to be able to make this announcement about the deal, that when completed, will enable further investment in Jim Magilton's team building and our quest to bring Premiership football back to Portman Road.”

Marcus Evans, added: “I am delighted to be able to support the club of which I have long been an admirer. I believe that Ipswich Town has great potential to build upon its rich footballing heritage.

“The club has an excellent reputation, both on the pitch and off it, as part of the local community, and this has played a big part in attracting me here.

“The board has done a good job in difficult conditions under the stewardship of David Sheepshanks who will continue in his role as chairman, with the support of a strong executive management team.

“Jim Magilton and the squad have made a terrific start to the season and will have my full support.”

GET IN THERE! Absolutely ecstatic! The debts gone, and he's put 12m straight back in!
