  1. The thing I like about your diary is the fact that I can actually picture that as an episode of Wrestling Challenge. The Warrior rambling and Bushwhackers match would want me to make me change the channel myself, so you've got the realism down there. Hewey pretty much said it in a nutshell, just push Rick Martel AND Terry Taylor (well, at least get rid of the Red Rooster gimmick lol).

My only question is who is Fat Tony? Is that Schiavone or some random Italian goomba Vince got off of the streets of Manhattan?

  2. Ah, it's refreshing to see another old-school diary. Overall I liked your first show. It was full of the jobber squashes that was par for the course in 1990 and your writing style is quite good. Tunney's big announcement wasn't really all that shocking, but considering Rumbles (the actual Rumble match) 90-91 did nothing to really advance storylines, it's a welcome change.

I only have a couple of nitpicks about the show. First off, I don't really like the Harts taking the belts from the CC. Now don't get me wrong, the Harts were a great team and over at the time, but Demolition was the major face team of the time as shown by them main eventing the last PPV (Survivor Series 89) and they had the belts stolen by the CC at the last SNME of 89 (at least I think it was the last SNME). I'm not saying the Harts are a bad choice, but they weren't the best choice at the time.

Dusty and the Hammer get a DUD rating? I know they were both on the decline then, but ouch. And FYI, the Powers of Pain were still together in January 90, they didn't split until shortly before Wrestlemania VI.

  3. Yeah, Wanda was really annoying. The reason they don't do Survivor in the cold places like Russia is because the women can't wear bikinis (seriously, would you want to see Stephanie in a parka and boots or a bikini?). Pulling for Tom to win (gotta represent NYC).

What order will they be eliminated in the 4 v 4 match? Barbarian, Jannetty, Beefcake, Haku, Michaels, Bigelow, Bossman

  5. Really liking the Martel push, too bad he won't win the belt.

    Predictions:

    Hulk Hogan

    - Unless this is one of the big PPV's Hogan wouldn't even think of dropping the belt (not that he would at one of those either)

    Savage/Hart

    - Tough one to call, but I think Savage will win it for Elizabeth in this one.

    Muta/Orient Express

    - Fuji interferes to give the Orients the duke.

    Jake Roberts

    - beats Tito, then we find out who's playing head games with him

    Warlord/Simmons

    - Simmons just debuted, and this team looks like they might be the next challengers to the LOD's Tag Belts

    Legion of Doom

    - LOD are not going to give the belts back a month after winning them from Saggs and Knobbs

    Mr. Perfect

    Money Inc.

    Jerry Lawler

    Undertaker

    Razor Ramon

    1) Was last week the first time that 'Chilling' Charles Wright attacked the Undertaker?

    Yes

    2) Will we learn any more about Legendfest?

    Yes

    3) What will be the first match of the show?

    Ramon v. Tatanka

    4) Will Yokozuna make an appearance?

    No

    5) What match will get the best overall rating?

    Money Inc. v. Steiners

  9. Actually Ray, they did say that 1 FF per team on the leg Colin and Christie got it. What I don't remember hearing was that there were only 2 FF's the entire race. Mirna & Charla absolutely annoy me more than a Richard Simmons infomercial. I'm pulling for Chip & Kim to win, but I'm thinking that Colin & Christie will. As for BB5, I think that Marvin will have a pretty good shot to win b/c he wasn't really ever a part of the Horsemen or Will's alliance, he might just sneak in there.

  10. Before I make my predictions, I think you've gotta great diary going here ryan and I salute you for pushing Rick Martel.

The Nasty Boys vs. Natural Disasters

    Winner: Natural Disasters

    Tatanka vs. Jake Roberts

    Winner: Tatanka

    Bob Backlund vs. Shawn Michaels

Winner: I'm gonna be the first to say Bob Backlund wins here, b/c of the Rumble later in the night

The Steiner Brothers vs. Money Inc.

Winner: Money Inc. wins with a well placed steel briefcase shot from IRS, leading to a match @ WM.

    Randy Savage vs. Yokozuna

    Winner: Yokozuna, next.

    Hulk Hogan vs. Lex Luger

    Winner: Hogan, next.

    Bret Hart vs. Ric Flair

Winner: Hart, in the best match of the night

    Royal Rumble Match

Winner: Shawn Michaels, leading to a classic at WM (even though personally I want to see Martel win, but it looks like he'll be feuding w/ UT soon.)

    1) Who will enter the Royal Rumble at #1: Martel, b/c he lasted 50+ minutes in 91

    2) Who will enter the Royal Rumble at #30: Kamala, b/c untalented heels were always put at #30 during this time (Warlord in 91 & 93, Adam Bomb in 95)

    3) Who is the Mystery Superstar: By my count there are 16 faces and 13 heels already in (probably not right, but I'm to lazy to double-check), so I'm thinking it's the return of a heel Roddy Piper.

    4) Who will finish second in the Royal Rumble: Since I have Michaels is winning it's got to be someone he can believably eliminate, how about Razor Ramon.

    5) Who will eliminate the most superstars in the Royal Rumble: Virgil <_< , j/k I'll say Yoko b/c of the big fat guy element.
