  1. That comment is not obligatory. In fact, that comment is just dumb.

    Don't do it again.

Welcome to the internet, endure it or go offline.

Speaking of the topic at hand, now that I've had roughly two weeks with it, I'm thinking this is my favourite COD yet. It doesn't have that zany, anything-goes feeling that MW2 had, which made it my favourite 'til now, but that's alright because this game seems to be pretty damn balanced. I'm loving the gun-on-gun battles and the fact that there's less of an emphasis on killstreaks due to the support and specialist packages. Killstreaks don't feel important anymore, but I think that's a fair trade for the aforementioned gun-on-gun battles that I've been wanting since COD4. I've seen some mixed feelings on the maps and, yes, I don't like them all, but I'm pretty content with what they gave us and considering I'm only 'eh' on a few of them out of a whopping 16 maps, that's pretty neat. I found some spots during the campaign that I think will be good for DLC maps, too.

I'm a bit mixed on the campaign. For me, it started off REALLY slow and generic, but it picked up when you got control of the 'main' characters and it only built from there. I wasn't satisfied with the ending, but the start of the last level more than made up for it. Spec Ops missions are what you'd expect, but I'm enjoying them, and I've already reached level 43 from going through the Survival maps. While it's fun, it got very repetitive after the first half dozen levels, because you know from the start how the waves are going to present themselves and the order that you'll try to combat them. All in all, very satisfied and I don't regret buying the Hardened edition. Elite sucks, though.

  2. Those drums in the beginning were horrid. That's what turned me off to this shit. People actually listen to Metallica?

I don't think the drums in the beginning of one song, is indicative of the entire career of a band that has sold albums amassing a number second only to The Beatles. <_< But yeah, the drums are shithouse in this. After listening to this song at least a half dozen times, I can only wonder if a tremendous amount of miscommunication was had and nobody could be bothered to change things around after the parts were combined. It sounds like Lou is trying to follow the drum beat, sometimes rushing the words and even singing for half a second to fit a line in, in time. The whole thing is just such a pigfuck. I actually wouldn't be surprised if either of them didn't want to insult the other, by telling them that it just doesn't work.

But as bad as it is, I've had "I am the root; I am the progress" circling my head ever since I heard it. I don't have high hopes for the album, but I do think that there's a good chance this is one of the worst parts of it and so they can only go up from here. This is 100% an EWB Music Club future nomination.

  3. Thoughts?

I love the Metallica parts; I hate the Lou Reed parts. That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the project as a whole. Hopefully when the CD 'drops', it won't have been such a waste of time and I have a feeling that I'll like it overall. I'd like to hear a song where Lou isn't talking, because it's just awkward in The View.

  4. I just completed Resistance 3 100% :D

    Only my second ever Platinum!

I'm trying to do that at the moment, but I just couldn't be bothered. >_< I've got the platinum on COD: World at War (one of the toughest plats, apparently), but I'm having a tough time getting through Superhuman on Resistance 3. I grew up on health packs, but the modern FPS' have spoiled me with regenerating health.

  5. Anthrax - "Worship Music"

Really great album. I saw it get great reviews, but did not expect it to be this good, not a single bad song on it.

Agree completely. I'm not an Anthrax fan (for the most part), but the new album is really great. Only song I'm not fussed on is Revolution Scream(?); the rest are fantastic. I don't think the album will get as much acknowlegment as it deserves, though, because it's released so late in their career. I'd put it on par with Among The Living.

  6. Question regarding Battlefield: BC 2

If I buy the game pre-owned, will I need to buy an online code, or was this released before the one use codes became an issue?

You'd need to buy an online pass. The game is cheap brand new and worth every penny ten times over, so make sure you get that online pass.

  7. Ended up getting BC2. I really enjoy Homefronts Battle Point system, and I had fun with the demo. But I figure that I can play the demo anytime I want (at least until/if it cuts me off from playing it once I reach a certain level). Ended up getting BC2 new so that I got the map pack and other stuff. Now to completely suck at another FPS :w00t:

You made a wise decision. Bad Company 2 is incredible in every way, just make sure to go through the single player on the hardest difficulty if you're into that, because it's very short otherwise. :/

  8. COD games are always good, both offline and online, it's just the players that ruin it. Black Ops was an awesome game for a few months, but then everyone settled into their routines and now you see 90% of the population with Ghost, ak74u/Famas and grenade launcher. MW2 is fantastic. The gameplay is so much fun, but again, the players chose to be extreme asshats and ruin it with the noobtubes. I can't stand playing normally, so I use an outside program with dedicated servers, meaning that you'll get kicked if you use 'em in most games. Since I found it, nothing but fun. WaW is very much a 'you love it' or 'you hate it' game, but nobody has a choice now since the players have decided that hacking it to shit is the way to go... and likewise for COD4. which has a lot of hackers.

I'm picking up MW3 asap because the COD franchise always delivers. Just gotta' get in early before the playerbase figures out what the 'best' everything is - even if it still doesn't get them to the top of the leaderboards - and ruin it.

  9. Speaking of Portal. I want to play the original before getting highly-rated sequel is The Orange Box any good as a whole on PS3?

It's only €12.49, but still I don't want to buying duds.

Portal is amazing. HL2 might be one of my favourite games, plus the expansions are brilliant. As for TF2, I've never played it. Keep in mind though, that I have Portal and HL2 on the PC, so I can't compare it with the PS3. But yeah, get it.

  10. That is so unfair! I can barely get two games and you cheated and got them all?

Why can you barely get two games, SRN?

I downloaded one game and then it wouldn't let me download a second one. :(

    Did you try:

  11. People got upset when Metal Gear Solid 4 didn't come with trophies. Not me, I was excited about playing the game.

This is the only thing that bothers me about trophies; the fact that some people are willing to pass up games because they're not going to be rewarded for playing.

  12. I thought you only needed offline trophies for the plat? Looks like I'm signing up on ps3trophies...

Only trophies you'll ever need for the plat is what came with the game, never the DLC (although a couple of games require the DLC, but I believe they're PSN titles). I still can't plat Burnout Paradise because my camera isn't compatible. :crying: I need to find one of those PS2 Eyes just for a trophy.

  13. What? It's about being able to build something larger than a shoebox without a creeper spawning in the next room. I don't want to turn enemies off.

Then put a torch down. Christ. That's like Minecraft 101!

I CAN put torches down and I DO put torches down, but if people are trying to make a nice-looking anything in this game, a hundred torches sticking out of the ground looks like crap. I'd like them to add an invisible object that generates light so people can create more visually-pleasing projects. Christ.

  14. This is both sides of the mainroom of my castle, as you can see its lit brighter than hell, but despite that shit spawns in there, mostly skeletons or creepers, thank god they only show up one at a time. Any reason I keep finding them in here?

This is why I can't get as involved as I'd like to in the game. Unless I want to stick torches all over the ground, enemies will spawn. I wish they added a - perhaps invisible - 'zone marker' of sorts, that gives off light and that way you can 'claim' land. It'd be great to slowly expand your territory.

  15. The fact that Australia royally gets ripped off for gaming prices, and when Steam fixed all of that by giving us American prices, they got sued by EB Games over here, because they are the most expensive and pathetic company on Earth. 110 bucks for a new game. You can suck a dick EB Games.

You have to pay €82 for a new game? :o

That's insane! It's almost double the price we have to pay!

I think the last time I checked, MW2 new was $80... might even have been higher, at EB Games. Australia gets the royal assfuck when it comes to video games.

  16. Game's that are released only to have DLC announced shortly after. I used to be excited when an expansion was released for my favourite games, but now every single game gets additional content, usually overpriced, often within the first months.

  17. ^ Yeah, in a way this is a blessing in disguise. Playing online with people kinda overtook my desire to go through my backlog, but without online working, I've been able to finish Black Ops on veteran (something I thought I'd never do), as well as finishing the offline portion of NFS: Undercover. I'm about to finish up RDR and then who knows? Maybe I'll find myself playing FF13 again, but that's a big maybe... -_-

  18. I've claimed a hotel room(I'm Murder101, look for me with the beetlejuice skin)

    "Who me?"

Finally found a texture pack that I think I'll keep for a while: Quandary. I've gotten so caught up with changing textures that I barely even play the game, but stay on the hunt for a better one instead. But Quandary really looks good, so I'm happy with that. Started a new world with the idea of it being my only world. I eventually want to make a lil' village, but I doubt that'll happen... hell, I spent about a week making stone walls and then lost interest as I placed the last block. So far I've only begun digging down my 20x20 'mine'. After I hit bedrock, I figure I can just cover the top and pretend it doesn't exist and have chests full of resources. Then I'll begin the building process. :pervert:
