  1. Henry might be okay at Arsenal as backup. Has its pros and cons, sentimentally it's quite nice, similar to why you find the odd United fan who'd take Beckham back on a loan, but it'd be sad if he was rubbish. With that said he's probably better than Chamakh (aren't we all).

If I'm a Chelsea fan... dunno about Gary Cahill. Not sure I'd be happy about that. He's another body which helps when you have a few injuries and 7 million or however much is a fair enough price but they'll need a few others in that area of the pitch. Terry/Luiz/Cahill, could be some LOLarity in those pairings. Nice to hear Sam Hutchinson will probably be registered in January though, never really saw him (at any level) but it's always sad when any team loses a youngster to injury and for him to come back from retirement and return to the first team is a nice story.

  2. Fiver says that Liverpool finally concede that this year is not going to be 'their year'.

There's a graph that's (apparently) been going around the internet for years showing the cycle of Liverpool's season. It predicts that on December 25th the title bid is dead and January onwards it's "building for next year". It's startlingly accurate.

  3. Not really, it's fucking Wigan, they're toss and have been every single season they've been in the Premier League.

They have a go every now and then though! Arsenal in 09/10 (and what a peculiar game that was, 3-2 after being 2-0 down), Chelsea game a few weeks ago, Liverpool. They don't even have a go at raising their game when they play United. Not that I have an issue with that, they should never be relegated for that exact reason.

  4. It could be that, I just remember it being ridiculously good.

They've never taken a point off us and have barely scored. They've scored like 3 or 4 goals in total and never more than 1 in a match. It's quite strange that they're so poor. Strange until you notice Gary Caldwell in the team, I mean. Highlight of the game at the DW Stadium last year was them playing a defensive line on the halfway line. Gibson hoofed it into their half, Berbatov strolled clean through, squared for Rooney, easy. They should really work on that defending thing.

Danny Graham's a bit of a beast. Love Swansea, hope they stay up and Norwich stay up too. Fun teams to watch, especially compared to shite like Villa (apologies to any Villa fans, but c'mon).

  5. TODAY IS A GOOD DAY.

Disappointed MOTD cut my favourite bit from watching the game live, where Nani seemed to dribble across the entire Wigan defence - admittedly a rather disorganised bunch, then smash the ball across the face of goal. Caldwell enjoyed it so much he nearly scored an own goal. Game went rather well considering this was one of those coked off his tits Fergie selections.

Evra's run for the Park goal was tremendous, he had a great game. Was a bit confused that he played centre back instead of Fryers (who's played both left back and centre back for the Reserves and Academy) but it seemed to work. Moses had quite a good game for Wigan and was really fast so putting Evra there provided a bit of pace to cancel him out, good little makeshift duo with Carrick.

  6. Gary Neville is a legend.

That was so fun. I've been rabbiting on about how good Tom Cleverley is for ages and he showed how good he is, great performance. Welbeck too. In fact, that entire second half team was amazing. Even the more derided members of the team (harshly so) like Evans and Anderson.

De Gea got caught out by the second goal (first I'm not holding massively against him, probably on a par with Hart for Smalling's goal) but he recovered well. Glad we won because that takes a bit of the attention away from him, even though it doesn't matter (as a few people have pointed out, Jaap Stam had a terrible debut in the Shield vs. Arsenal).

  7. Carrick was great towards the end of the season, particularly in Europe. More specifically in the games against Chelsea, wasn't so bad against Schalke either but yeah, it's Schalke. Very underrated player often used as a scapegoat by more reactionary United fans.

The only time I recall anyone in the media praising him was when Graeme Souness commentated on the first Schalke game because Souness understands what he does, breaking up play and shielding the back 4 and all that. He has a few bad games every now and then, the City one at Wembley and the Valencia game at home but generally he's good, he just doesn't stand out because he's not exactly a box-to-box midfielder and doesn't participate in the flowing attacking moves.

  8. Was at the Scholes game earlier. Honestly one of the highlights of the season and the season's not even started properly for United yet. Scholesy thunderbolt + Tom Cleverley + Danny Welbeck + Paul Pogba = drooooooool. Tell you what, listening to Adrian Durham troll to high heaven on TalkSport doesn't half get you motivated for watching the great man's last game.

Now, let's get Arron Scholes signed up, there's a need for a new Ginger Prince. Joe van der Sar to smash the ball up to him.

EDIT: Actually this should probably in General Football, shouldn't it? I dunno. Never mind.

  9. Watching this now. Fucking hell.

United should probably get shot with Robbo as this "official ambassador" or whatever. Dunno if they've ever rescinded that position but Jesus. I'm not sure I want someone representing my club who believes that football is no longer a sport and this sort of behaviour's acceptable, no matter how fantastic he was on the pitch.

Sim comes across as a right hanger-on.

  10. West Brom's sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth tells the club's website that they hope to set up a meeting with former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves in the coming days in a bid to sign him.

Good news for old curly hair. :)

Oh god. Roy. What are you doing. You nutter.

The one thing that Football Manager has never managed to replicate is the medical marvel that is Owen Hargreaves. He's always fit. I sold him because his presence in my squad was just unrealistic.

  11. Haha N'Gog will have a boss preseason then do fuck all for the rest of the season :P

I remember when Voronin would look immense during preseason every year and then be utter garbage.

So what you're saying is that David N'Gog is Liverpool's Gabriel Obertan.

I really don't think I could have insulted the man more, I apologise.

  12. Luther is AWESOME. It's really over the top but I love it, and some of the villains are properly evil. They're quite video gamey, actually. Like in the most recent episodes which seemed to be based on Postal. It's not The Wire or The Shield or these other awesome police series, but it's not trying to be.
