  1. Wait, Dan is from London? And he likes the Jags!?

Seriously dude? You can pick any team with no regional ties, and you choose Jacksonville.

I'm not from London. Quite far away actually.

And picking a good team is boring. Picking a shitty team is much more fun and let's you enjoy the good times more!

Dan this season can't end soon enough lol. I have never watched so much bad football in all my life. <_<

Though others here disagree, I tend to think Teddy Bridgewater will heal a lot of things ailing this team.

  2. One game closer to Bridgewater :D

Haven't they ruined enough QBs already?

Not sure who you mean? The Jags have drafted 3 QBs in the last 11 years.

Garrard was a 4th rounder and did alright for 8 years, Leftwich Was 10 years ago and had 9 years in the league.

Gabbert is the only one we've drafted aside from them two :/ Granted he sucks but I'm happy to move on at the end of the season.

That's cool though, you'll be stuck with Romo for the next 6 years.

    I'm with ya, Dan. Teddy...Teddy...Teddy!!! :w00t:

  3. This isn't news at this point, but the Jaguars lost again and Gabbert still looks pretty terrible. As an unbiased fan, it is important to mention that Blackmon, Shorts, and MJD were not playing. However, positives included a much better looking defense and they even got a few of these things called sacks. Apparently you CAN tackle the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage BEFORE he can throw. Who knew?! <_<

  4. As a long time Jaguars fan and living here in Jacksonville, I feel the need to make something extremely clear. The Jaguars have had zero black outs since 2009. We are not struggling to sell the tickets the way we used to. This is a military town and a college town and during war time with a bad economy, we struggled because we were a bad team and the residents couldn't afford tickets. Partly because we had a mayor who sucked the city dry and partly because we had so many soldiers overseas. I get sick of hearing the media regurgitate the same old facts from 09 without doing their homework and realizing things are vastly different now. But it's easier to just report old news and make everyone go "lol Jacksonville". We get it, we're small and we don't deserve a team. We were by far the most successful expansion franchise in history. They hate that and now they pounce because we're small and we're not Los Angeles. They've also lost two teams, so I guess they aren't much better.

As for Tebow being here, it doesn't make as much sense as everyone seems to think. He's revered by the Gator fans and the non-football fan Christian community. He's not revered by the vast Seminoles fans, Hurricanes fans, Crimson Tide fans, Clemson fans, Bulldog fans, and likewise other teams that have a big fan base here. We are like a melting pot of college football fans of different areas and not ALL of them love Tebow. As for the comment about the GM, our GM is Gene Smith and he tied his wagon to Blaine Gabbert and spent an entire off season gearing the coaching staff to help Gabbert become the franchise quarterback. I can't see him scrapping all that and making it worthless to trade for a quarterback he could've had and chose not to.

As for the owner, Khan is a business man and while it may make some sense to trade for Tebow, it also deems his entire off season of spending as a waste because the pieces in place don't fit Tebow. I don't see it happen and I admit I don't want it to. Let Gene sink or swim with Gabbert. The Jaguars have pieces in place to contend, we lacked coaching and have made some lousy draft selections. I personally blame the GM, but he has found a few hidden gems. Now he needs to hit some home runs with consistency and stop drafting from small school heaven. This is make or break year and the circus that is Tebow doesn't need to be here. He's a great young man, high character, and a unique talent but he's a better fit for the media frenzy in Miami than he his here in Jacksonville. Ross likes the bright lights and media frenzy. They're a match made in heaven and last I checked, they're struggling to sell tickets worse than we are.

Just my two cents from a Jacksonville native all my life

  5. Wait a minute, how the heck are Boston College good? They squeaked by freaking UMASS, Ryan was a complete disaster. Ohio State has played exactly NOBODY and looked less than impressive in the process at the start. The resume of South Florida got even stronger after Auburn took down Florida. South Florida, as strange as it is to fathom, really is the best team in the country and should be #1. Oregon also has a strong case to be ahead of Ohio State and/or BC since they lost to Cal by a yard.

Basically, I think all this craziness screams for a playoff. Can you imagine the competition, ratings, and money it'd bring in now?

  6. Okay, the official count now is:

    passed on Brady Quinn- twice

    passed on Trent Edwards- twice

    passed on Troy Smith- twice

So, Matt Moore, Zabranksy, Leak...anyone? I'm not sure how well Leak projects in the NFL, but I kinda would be tickled to get Mr. Zabransky. Maybe he can teach Matt Jones that cool little "statue of liberty" play (Y)

  7. I like us taking Podlesh because Hanson was pretty meh last year. However, why the fuck are we taking ANOTHER linebacker? I swear to God, Del Rio has got to look at a position other than LB and WR. We've got Daryl Smith, Mike Peterson, Clint Ingram, Brandon Iwoh (he came on like wildfire), and we drafted Durant. There's no need to add another. Just stupid. If we don't get a QB eventually, I think we're gonna storm the stadium. I'd say with torches, but we'd probably start another fire :pinch:

  8. So, I'm late as usual, but I gotta get my Jags in here. Outstanding pick and value to get Reggie Nelson at 21. He's an in-state freak at safety and offers an instant fix to FS after losing Deon Grant. The rest of the draft kinda befuddles me. They had Brady Quinn staring them in the face multiple times and they have to get a QB this year, imo. This city has given up on Lefty and when nobody comes to the stadium as it is, that spells franchise disaster. I offer a local news report that said nearly 1/2 the season ticket holders cancelled the day after Byron was re-instated as the starter earlier this year. Ouch! He's regressing and can't stay healthy. They (coaches) don't seem sold on Garrard although personally I love him and the city loves him. He has mobility and looked pretty good when the WRs were actually playing for him. The "lightning in a bottle" Quinn Gray is just the #3 and not getting a chance to even compete for the job. Edwards is a guy who had fallen pretty far and in the 3rd round when we didn't have glaring needs, you had to make the move. So now you pass on Quinn and Edwards in the same draft. We'll have to see if that comes back to bite us in the ass.

That said, I liked the pick of Durant. He's a Del Rio guy at LB and given our drafts lately, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I did NOT like the pick of another big WR. We needed a speedy, deep threat WR. I don't see that in the guy from UCF, Mike Walker. The pros are we have stockpiled a ton of picks this draft and should add some nice players this year. I just wish they would acknowledge the QB issues and let them all compete. I love the team outside of that position. The defense is scary good and the RB core is outstanding. As for day 2, I'm licking my lips with Troy Smith sitting there. I think he's going to be an outstanding QB in this league and I can't understand the hate. He's not that freaking short. He has a good arm and he's mobile which is the name of the game in the NFL at QB. I like the fit and think it certainly will cover our ass when Lefty falls on HIS yet again! I also don't see many other glaring needs, so take a chance and get the Heisman Trophy winner in the 4th freaking round. Pretty safe gamble, imo. He's NOT gonna be Eric Crouch. I think he'll be a very succesful starting QB in this league in a few years.

  9. Disgusted that Florida State was left out over an Arkansas. Al Thornton is by far one of the best players in college basketball and will be an outstanding prospect in the NBA. Leonard Hamilton deserved this bid in the tournament so bad to finally put a stamp on his improvement of this program. Just so wrong...now I hope they roll in the NIT :crying:

  10. Well, it started out looking very forgettable. The Busch brothers show was nothing short of making me sick. I can't stand those two, they're extremely wreckless. The race got good and it was on! I was pulling for Truex most of the way, car was fantastic and he got caught in someone else's mess. The ending was fantastic. Thrilled for Harvick because he is a very good guy and racer. This also gets him out of Dale Earnhardt's shadow now and allows him to become his own driver. Proud to be a Harvick fan since the beginning. Nothing will ever top race 3 at Atlanta in 2001, but this was a very close second :D

  11. Simply awesome diary. It is really well written and well organized. I love the CM Punk character and it was sad to see it ended so early due to the injury. The Kanyon character is quite interesting. I can only imagine where you will be taking some of these characters. It's definitely ECW and I'm loving it. Still laughing at that commentary :lmao:

Keep up the great work (Y)

  12. I loved Daytona this year, and I love the fact that Stewart was nowhere near the top. Stewart is one of the biggest hypocrits I've seen as he went after Kenseth. Then after the race "He started it and I finished it" to top off his week of bump drafting is dangerous and may kill somebody......dumb ass.

    Three things. . .

    1) You do realize Stewart finished 5th right?

    2) Kenseth is a pussy. A whiny pussy at that.

    3) Stewart didn't bump draft, so I don't see how he was a hypocrite.
