  1. The only solice is that it is made by Lion Gate films, who makes the SAW movies, and The Punisher, but also had the nerve to put Hostel anywhere near a movie screen.

which is WHY i said it will be great... their production team is above average... kane has the potential to be horrific... and story sounds like a classic.

saw was basically based inside a building the entire time... other than the killer drugging people and dragging them into the place... but basically based inside a warehouse type building... the trailer looks good.

as for the raising kane part... they were obviously attempting to grab the attention of true wrestling fans AND stating that "someone is raising KANE"... someone is raising hell... in other words...

anyway, i guess it boils down to the individuals opinion/taste... i for one am seeing this.

oh yeah... hostel DID suck balls

  2. Alright, new Nitro up...lets see how this is...

I liked the Booker promo except for two things, I think that he should have just accepted the challenge, and not challenged awesome, and also, his catch phrase was "dont hate the playa; hate the game".

I think him challenging awesome was kind of cowardly, and didnt make any sense, Im sure Awesome is going to win this match through interference now, because if he doesnt, then an angle is wasted....It just seems weird that booker doesnt want to seem to face storm, because he is obviously going after the weaker awesome....anyway, i digress.

Helms-Moore was a nice filler match to start the show, I really liked the Karagias interference done on Helms, it was a nice way to slidify Helms' athleticism with the neckbreaker spot.

Once again, why is the champion putting MORE pressure on himself...I understand Helms wants to be a fighting champ, but maybe he should have taken a math class, as 2 people are harder to beat than 1, and his chance of winning have decreased from 50% to 33%. Your promos are good but the content has me scratching my head.

Your m7 promo delivers again....that was excellent, I think Laroux/Smiley get squashed, but the backstage segment itself was spot on....and I love the Flair/Steiner confrontations, very good foreshadowing there.

And, the squash did happen, but good in-match psychology with steiner/flair...I have good feelings about this feud.

The Animals/Thrillaz feud doesnt have me too excited...also, where was Konnan during this, he could have had his boys' back....but I did like the fake punch by O'Haire...good touch. Has that match been signed yet for Spring Stampede?

Nice Kanyon/Douglas match, and you seem to be on a roll with the good segments, I wonder what Kanyon/Douglas have up their sleeve.....could they be becoming a threat?...hmmmm

Awesome vs. Booker T is for the US title, I dont think that was in your opening segment.

As I said before, I like the Jeff Jarrett push, but a couple things about his match....you have Jarrett working on the right leg, then Funk gets up favoring his left leg, and Jarrett wins with a move, that has nothing to do with the leg....I was hpoping he use the Figure Four leglock to put him over as a punishing monster, but it was to be for not. meh, well I did like the match, except for those minor details.

Minor Gripe: I wouldnt say bullshit on tv, unless it is a really extreme angle....carry on :P

I called the main event....yes!! This is part of the reasoning I didnt like Booker challenging Awesome, because instead of Booker just accepting the challenge and going into Spring Stampede a double champion, he instead lost one of his belts; and may lose the second at the PPV..I know you wanted to find a way to get the title off Booker, but man this one makes booker look kinda stupid.

Stevie Ray!!!!!....WOW, swerve, that was awesome. very god surprise, and it is something different, which i appreciate.

Anyway, an above average show in my book, the ending was great, because of the creativity involved, I just wish it was the challengers who made the stips in the matches as opposed to the champs...cant wait for thunder!

  3. I have been meaning to respond to this for awhile, I will be reading while i type, so if I miss something i apologize in advance.

I thought the Night of the Champions promo was strong. One thing I would have done though, is talk less about how my company was in the shitter. I understand what you were trying to accomplish, but I would have done it a little differently. I think the monolouge wouldve been done a lot better on the online website, or in an interview, but not on national tv...very strong promo though, that gets its point across...so i did like it.

ARGHHHH!....you got rid of wayne debruce, the brian knobbs, and duggan releases dont bother me, but sarge?!?!grrrr...I have my reasons lol.

NWA:Wildside....looks good...dont have any complaints, except Bischoff was high on Christian York and Joey Matthews, so I hope they get signed too.

Nice news snippets: onto the shows...this will be long sorry.

    (Y) We need a montage!!! Very awesome opening, with Booker as the centerpiece, very well done.

The Animals/Dragons match was well written as well....fast paced, and a good way to push the cruiserweight tag titles up in prestige, this idea was one of WCW's best, and hopefully, you find some more cruisers to bring in.

Bischoff's announcement, made me kinda upset, I would have held off on the Steiner/Booker rematch until the PPV, but I think you have something in store for later.

Nice Flair promo, I love the rick Steiner interaction....very well done.

Helms/Guerrero, this match took place the week before too...hmmm, well....I dont know if it was wise saying this is a new WcW, then giving two of the same matches the very next week....but i digress...a double count-out?..Im going to assume Helms is hurt though, which makes sense, because anything else I am scratching my head.

I honestly didnt like the O'Haire/Palumbo interview...only because those guys were faces...I dont know, just confused.

Rhodes/Awesome was written well for a squash...I think you showed the unity of team canada very well...that part was good...but I think rhodes could be very good as long as you write him well.

The Jarrett/DDP match was very good....and a good match choice...and very well written. I would have rather seen this as the main event. The Jarrett promo was puzzling, because he is a part of the M7, I dont know...Im sure you will do something with that.

Booker/Steiner would have looked soooo much better on PPV...lol, j/k. Anyway, good write up though, and Lance Storm?...hmmm interesting. Im stuck in the middle when it comes to storm, on one hand, I think he needs more build-up t it, kinda like winning a #1 contenders match, then attacking booker, but on the other hand....Lance Storm is main event material.

I should be able to look at the other two shows later...but so far this is a very good diary.

  4. I'm trying to answer your questions.  The only things you're probably right about are Beulah being injured, Rhino not debuting, the Acid Drop and RVD being the tv champion.  Hardcore TV is at midnight on America One, which is pretty much a local network.  I'm trying to answer all of your questions, it's not my fault if what I got on obsessed with wrestling is wrong.  I looked up the tv title history, and it said Bam Bam Bigelow, then Taz or something, and it said that Super Crazy and Tajiri debuted in 98, it just didn't give me a date so I thought it was before august.  I'm really trying to answer your questions, I don't know how much better I can do.

  5. The reason I said I wouldnt comment on the diary, is because i didnt read it...I told you I just skimmed through it...ECW is the hardest thing to write, because there are so many intangibles involved with it....man, I didnt think you would be so sensitive.

Anyway,I read that you put it as the TV title match, when bigelow wasnt even the champ...I still dont understand why you are arguing that RVD wasn't the champ...he won the title on 4/4/98

Anyway, when I see so many inaccuricies, in the first three shows, I am prone to ask these questions...in fact this should help your writing, now you have a bigger better backstory, come in and tell how BAM Bam won the title from RVD, Al Snow turned heel because Taz stole his thunder at wrestlepalooza 98.

Super Crazy debuted in ECW in 1998 and engaged in a sensational feud with Yoshihiro Tajiri..
  6. Wow...where do I begin...ummm Im going to avoid commenting on the diary, well, yeah.

Anyway, a couple of questions, just reading over what you have, i skimmed it, so I apologize if I missed anything...

In your first post, you have the results to ECW Heatwave , and then a conversation that happened a day earlier.

What I dont understand is how Bigelow lost the title at heatwave but won the title back before you got on tv?

Why is heatwave on August 2...when that wasnt the date in real life?

Douglas won the title from Terry Funk in a 3-way dance between him and Sabu at Hardcore Heaven

Wasnt RVD the TV champ at this time, and Taz was the FTW champ?

Why is Raven one of your main eventers when he was in ECW?

Why did Heyman call Vince just to sttart shit, isnt that kinda high school of him?

Why is Stevie Richards in ECW...when he had neck surgery a year before, and was out?

Why is cyrus in ECW in 1998 when he was in WWF as the jackyl at the time?

Why did sandman beat bigelow but bigelow is still the ECW champ...does he defend the title at all?

Why is spike dudley teaming up with RVD and Sabu?

Why is Big Dick Dudley wrestling on tv, when he hardly ever wrestled, and never on tv?

What happened to the midnight local ECW show?

Why is it called a dudley dog, and not an acid drop?

Why is franicne talking?...why didnt shane douglas say cut the fucking music?

Why is beulah mcgillicutty back, when she had a broken neck three months ago?

Why is steve corino in this when he was in the indies looking like a skinny sean waltman?

Why is lynn/corino the main event instead of sandman/bigelow?

Why is taz facing al snow, when they are the two most over faces at the time, and snow just left to go to the wwe

why are the pitbulls around..since they've been gone since 1998 began?

Rhino is a man beast....who magically appeared one year before he debuted...why are the blue world order still around when they disbanded a year ago?

Why are super crazy and tajiri in this when they didnt debut until guilty as charged 1999?

Did you do any research at all?

I dont know what to tell you man...hopefully you can answer all these questions from me, because i dont know if you are writing from 1998, or 2000

  7. This diary gives a bad name to ROH.

Gabe Sapolsky, one of the best bookers in the business, decides to BEG a high school student to help him with his booking? Why, because he needs angles about algebra homework and getting a date to the prom?

Hopefully your shows are a lot better than your backstory, or else this diary will become completely unreadable.

  8. I am absolutely loving this diary. The promos are spot-on, but what seperates you from other writers is the interaction of the publisher and the interview he is conducting.

Anyway, hopefully I can get a good score on some of these predictions....

    WWF Championship Match:

Stone Cold Steve Austin © v. The Undertaker

--If Austin is disqualified, he loses the title.

There is no way Austin loses the title this early, I think you are going to have a couple of very good feuds to set him up with even after you complete this one....HHH, Jericho, Angle, Benoit, and even Kane are going to be great challenges for him. Also it doesnt make much sense, since McMahon has so much riding on this.

    Intercontinental Championship Street Fight:

    Triple H © v. Kane

I think you are going to have HHH lose his title, while Austin keeps his, for a future rift between the two.

Ladder Match for Kurt Angle's gold medals:

    Kurt Angle v. Chris Benoit

Four Corners Elimination Tag Team #1 Contender's Match:

The Hardy Boyz v. The Dudley Boyz v. Rikishi and Haku v. Chris Jericho and Faarooq

--For bonuses, call the order of elimination. 1 point each.

    1st-Dudleyz

    2nd-Rikishi and Haku

    3rd Faarooq and Jericho

    European Championship Match:

Matt Hardy © v. Val Venis OR The Goodfather

--BONUS: Who is the correct challenger?

I just sense a Val Venis push, and more mic time for Richards

    Hardcore Championship Fatal Four-Way Match:

    Rhyno © v. Test v. Edge v. Christian

    --BONUS: Who gets pinned?

    Test

    Women's Championship Triple Threat Match:

    Chyna © v. Lita v. Ivory

--BONUS: Who loses the fall here?

Chyna, I think she gets buried because of her backstage attitude

    Light Heavyweight Championship Match:

Jerry Lynn © v. Spike Dudley

    BONUS QUESTIONS:

    1) One of these matches will have some VERY mysterious interference. Which one?

    HHH/Kane

    2) Which match will get the WORST EWR crowd reaction score?

    Jerry Lynn/Spike Dudley

    3) Which match will get the BEST EWR overall score?

    Angle/Benoit

  9. Did the feeling that this was a recap show come through in the writing? I mean I try to capture the essence of an old recap show but am not really sure if it worked or not, I mean having Scott say 'Roll VT' reminds people that its supposed to be a studio show but having him say that is supposed to blend in with the atmosphere and not be a reminder.

I am old enough to remember WCW Main Event(I think it was called) on saturday mornings, watching it in 1990, it would also come on sunday mornings at like 1 am in its waining days(1992, and 1994). Your show reminds me a lot of that, so I think it comes off perfectly, you have captured 1989 perfectly in that sense, and I am thoroughly impressed.

Feelings on the Scott Turner character? Its an idea I've blantently lifted from Javert's old diary and I don't mind saying that because its an idea that I believe I can take in a completely different direction. The character is supposed to be one that mimics the Johnny Polo whiney character Levy had in the WWF, but with a few more ties to the corporate world. (As, if you haven't guessed, Scott is the on-screen Turnerite, the supposed son of Ted Turner, who acquired the NWA in 1989 from Jim Crockett Jnr) Oh, and before anyone asks 'Singing castrato' the line Scott uses to shut Tenay up at the start of the programme is a opera term that is used to indicate a male singer that has had their testicles removed to ensure their high voice, its a line I'll probably make into his catchphrase as it works as a threat (Once you understand it) and ties Scott into that higher class of people that he is a representive of.

I like the Turner character for a number of reasons.

    1. I always like heel announcers that make me laugh, Heenan and Lawler in their primes are the best heel announcers, I guess I liek the old school heel announcers as oppose to the "tweeners" of today like Taz, and Lawler.

    2. You took "Raven" and didnt make him Raven(at least not yet) and also, you can do a lot with Turner, I think Erik Watts, and Dustin Rhodes may be in the scenario, and him brining himself up as the bosses son(even though people don't know it is really true, can be played very well there.

    3. I like the rich spoiled snob character that Raven just plays so well naturally.

Feelings on the show as a whole? Reading it the first few times I thought it was a little short, word count says its around four thousand, so its not too bad I guess. I was thinking of being a little more descriptive when describing the talking between Turner and Tenay, but there is a fine line between moving things on at a pace and bogging people down with description that is not often needed.

While reading the show, I was thinking it was short, however, I then realised that this show shouldnt be long at all. I thought all the matches were a good length, as back then on a studio show, more time was dedicated to the guys in said studio, rather than in the ring.

Feelings on the little line of bios before the matches? I think it helps people visual the wrestlers that are fighting, particularly as this era suffers from wide knowledge the further you head down the roster. I mean Flair is Flair and while everyone knows him and his main event peers, who remembers exactly how Tommy Rich looked in 1989? Or for that matter the jobbers he faced? Exactly.

The little bios are fine, I would just say that for PPV'S you should use entrances, not long ones, but something such as JYD comes down slapping hands with the fans, he is wearing white trunks with three blue stars on each side would be perfect.

Good start NBT, it looks very promising. I personally love the Bam Bam/Paul E. relationship. Now not to stroke the ego too much, I kinda wish that it was a tag team that Heyman debuted, that way going directly at the Midnight Express, but I guess they are busy with a program against the Freebirds.

I didnt know Dan Spivey was in the Varsity Club...thanks for the history lesson.

Looking forward to WCW this week, the only other thing is I hope you find a way to elevate Muta and Sting without making the TV title look unimportant. ONly thing is I think the easiest way to elevate them and the title is to make their "feud" over the tv title very prestigious.

I talked too much, like the diary NBT, keep it up.

  10. INteresting so far, you are making a pretty decent diary here.

I am not sure if I like how you did the Michaels/Jannetty start to the feud the same exact way that it was done in real life. What I would like to see is you develop the feud into more classic matches between the two.

I dont know why but I always thought Michales/Jannetty matches were awesome, even for 1993.

  11. I am loving this already NBT, I wish that you made Saturday Night the main show, I remember back in the day, I would kill to see it.

Either way, I think you definitely will be ok with this. I think the hardest part is having such great tag teams and having a hard time pushing them all, I would also like to see Ace and Douglas get some love as well.

    Good Luck.

  12. Joey Matthews is set to make his debut with Project: HONOR on September 18 in Clearwater. Joey is set for action on that night, but has also requested time with the microphone to “settle some personal business”.

This BETTER have to do with Christian York!

    Thanks for the explanation though.

  13. I am begininning to like this, your storylines seem exactly like in 1992, which i do like that you at least start your first ppv mimicking the real thing.

I dont have any complaints per say, but I think you should at least update and give a card for the Royal Rumble, I almost have to read word for word to see who is fighting whom.

Anyway. keep this up, i am definitely enjoying it. And wasn't jannetty still "in surgery" in january od 1992?

edit: also I agree with the sentiments of the too many jobber squashes, what I would do is maybe 3 or so jobber squashes, 2 good main event matches, and soem hype for your PPV/big event

  14. I actually like your work Gabriel, but this one thing has me scratching my head....

why does spanky want to face michael shane so badly, and if shane is avoiding him, why are they in a tag match together, even if spanky loses the match, he gets his hands on shane in like two weeks, so it wont matter.

I love the name of the promotion, and I too would have rather seen you start a RoH from the beginning reather than a mirror card.

Anyway, I like where this could be going, as I think you will definitely turn it around.

Also one more thing...why did u tell fitzy that DHS wont be teaming for long, and then said in the DVD extras that their goal was to win the tag titles...I dont know, maybe you are going somewhere with this, I just think it is a little predictable.

Good job though on the concept, its good.

  15. Interesting concept, as MLW was always a semi ripoff of RoH, so I am thinking that Bauer would jump at the idea of a "RoH fed with an MLW feel to it"

The roster is interesting, and I throw in my hat to see Jay Briscoe as the first world champ.

Actually anyone but Samoa Joe, because honestly, if I saw a fed start up, completely relied on workrate, and had Samoa Joe as champ, I would start thinking Gabe Sapolsky is doing the booking.

All that aside, I enjoyed your AHW diary very much, and am sad to see it go, but this looks even better so far.

    PUSH JAY!!!!
