  1. It's insane. Tank Abbott beat Bas Rutten twice! Frank Shamrock dominated my Middleweight division until Royce came back to fuck shit up. I also did a "what if?" thing and put Kurt Angle in to debut in '97. I think I may have made him too beastly, so I'll probably have to tone him down some. He beat Bas Rutten to get a chance at Don Frye's Heavyweight title. I'm glad someone finally beat Tank. Fun fucking mod.

  2. Pariah was amazing. It showcases Dredg's ability to evolve. Of course it's not El Cielo. Nothing will ever be El Cielo. Ever. Just think of it this way..

Leitmotif - nu-metal Dredg with progressive leanings

El Cielo - Amazing concept album that makes me jizz my pants.

Catch Without Arms - Straight-forward and to-the-point with a theme. Just a good alternative rock album.

And finally, The Pariah, The Parrot, and the Delusion - This is Dredg's venture into more poppy themes. It's really fucking catchy and very well put. I saw like half of this album performed live, even Long Nights and Vague Clues. Amazing to see live.

  3. I cannot wait for:

Third Eye Blind's new album. Seriously. Hurry the fuck up.

    Alice In Chains.

Devin Townsend's second album of the four he's working on. I really liked Ki.

And.. is there anyone else really, really, REALLY anticipating:

OH! And I REALLY hope to see Heaven & Hell in San Jose next month.

And as for things that have pleased me this year:

Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, and the Delusion -- I saw them in March. I came. Twice.

    Blue October - Approaching Normal

Heaven & Hell - The Devil You Know

  4. This is pretty cool metal news. >.>

Seattle metallers NEVERMORE will enter the studio in August with producer (and SOILWORK guitarist) Peter Wichers (who previously worked with NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane on Dane's solo debut, "Praises to the War Machine") to begin recording their long-awaited follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor", tentatively due in early 2010 via Century Media Records. Longtime friend and collaborator Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ARCH ENEMY, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD) will once again be handling mixing duties.

Commented Dane: "These songs are full of newfound rage, lyrically and musically. Jeff Loomis has come up with some amazing new riffs that will no doubt please old and new fans alike. Also, I think the combination of Peter and Andy will result in something very, very special."

Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Emptiness Unobstructed" and "Without Morals".

  5. I could definitely assist with the trash metal portion, it's the one piece of metal I can say I've listened to extensively, past and present.

Please do. More good metal, the better. I can assist with anything else, too. Tehe. Add me on AIM if you want to throw some suggestions my way. AIM: CaptainDuckroll.

  6. I am not going to scour the thread to see if these have been mentioned, so here we go. Some of these are probbably obvious, but oh well.

Death Metal: Arsis, Augury, Council of the Fallen, Death (obligatory), Divine Empire, Black Dahlia Murder, Vader, Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquillity, Strapping Young Lad, and Symbiosis.

Trash Metal (NWOBHM will be lumped into this considering the similarities.): Satan, early Anthrax, Overkill, Forbidden, Vio-Lence, Death Angel, Kreator, Legion of the Damned, Exodus, Testament, early Diamond Head, Suicidal Tendencies, and Artillery.

Power/Progressive Metal: Nevermore, Communic, Crimson Glory, Ayreon, Symphony X, Avantasia, Edguy (early), Beyond Fear, Beyond Twilight, Orphaned Land, Wintersun, Winter's Bane, Scariot, Kiuss, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Masterplan, Outworld, and Primal Fear.

Extreme Metal (too much SHIT to really categorize): Sigh, Scholomance, Spastik Ink, Blotted Science, Ron Jarzombek, Watchtower, Psychotic Waltz, Ulver, Unexpect, Estradasphere (I don't fucking know, man. Just don't fucking know.), Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and Fredrik Thordenal's Special Defects

Black Metal: Old Man's Child, Melechesh, Naglfar, Profundi, Dragonlord (Testament side project), Emperor, Borknagar, Woods of Ypres, and Agalloch

Some of these are just lumped into genres because it's what I can really compare it to at best.. so yeah. ENJOY!

  7. Another Lonely Day - Ben Harper

Explosions in the Sky - Birth and the Death of the Day

    Dredg - Information

Clint Mansell - Death is the Road to Awe.

  8. I don't post much here, but I was reading and saw some really good stuff. So.. I think I'll post one of mine! It's called Deconstruction.

I wear the mark of a broken soul,

I wear the mask of a souless face.

Watch me as I drift farther and farther away.

Reality is deconstructing and I have no time to waste.

Twist the knife into my back, that's how it ends.

Time is standing still as I watch how it begins.

    My mind is breaking down,

    there's nothing left here.

I watch the world around me move

but all I can do is drown in my fears.

All I can do is watch things fall

All I can do is listen to the sound

    of impending deconstruction.

I fear the sign of the oncoming storm.

I fear the things that will surely occur.

The story unfolds and we're forlorn

The Hell that washes upon us just might hurt.

Destroy the world around me, that's all the rage.

Watch from our thrones because all the world's a stage.

    My mind is breaking down,

    there's nothing left here.

I watch the world around me move

but all I can do is drown in my fears.

All I can do is watch things fall

All I can do is listen to the sound

    of impending deconstruction.

What's this sound I hear in the distance?

A flash of lightning and it's all gone in an instant.

The ground is tearing apart and our sins are free.

Darkness surrounds my being and it takes me.

I feel nothing, I feel nothing.

    I am oblivion.

    My mind is breaking down,

    there's nothing left here.

I watch the world around me move

but all I can do is drown in my fears.

All I can do is watch things fall

All I can do is listen to the sound

    of impending deconstruction.
