Krazy Horse d. KJ Noons by KO in the First Round

WOW! What a punch.

Gina Carano d. Julie Kedzie by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27)

Dominated the first two rounds, third round went to Kedzie in my book with a few nice shots and a takedown, also had a RNC attempt. Carano needs a lot more ground work.

Joey Villasenor d. David Loiseau by Unanimous Decision (30-27)

Crow looked about the same in the Swick fight, no heart. Villasenor should be getting some looks from the bigger companies soon.

Antonio Silva d. Wesley 'Cabbage' Correira by TKO/Ref Stoppage in the First Round

Big knee, followed by punches on the ground.

Pre-Lims: (They won't have time to air)

Tim Persey d. Bo Cantrell by KO (Punches) in the First

Mike Pyle d. Ross Ebanez by Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in Round One

Javier Vazquez d. Adriano Pereira by Decision (Split)

James Edson Berto d. John Shackelford by TKO (Punches) in the Second Round

Riki Fukuda d. Chris Gates by Submission (Punches) in Round One

Main Event: Renzo Gracie d. Frank Shamrock via DQ (Illegal Knee) in the First Round

Here's my take on the Gracie/Shamrock situation... Shamrock was obviously trying to get Gracie off him in the mount, and was bringing down the knees. Obviously they were illegal, but I don't think he was intentionally trying to like, end the fight, or whatever. Shamrock didn't come off very classy though, and didn't help his case, making some pretty cocky remarks, but Gracie looked pretty messed up after those knees. I don't know if I would have DQ'd Shamrock, maybe a no contest, but it was a fair result and can agree with the decision.

Righto, these are the shows that are happening next week

Upcoming Events Next Week

» 2/16/2007 - DEEP: 28th Impact

» 2/16/2007 - ROF 28: Evolution

» 2/17/2007 - GCM: Cage Force 2

» 2/17/2007 - Shooto: Professional Shooto 2007

» 2/17/2007 - NAAFS: The Midwest Combat Challenge 2

» 2/17/2007 - CFC III: Combat Fighting Championships III

As you can see nothing spectacular there, Biggz pointed out a few things on some of the cards but we don't feel they warrant a prediction contest. That is unless anyone out there wants to do a predicition contest for one of these shows, I don't overly mind either way. But I imagine the next show we'll predict will be the PRIDE show on the 24th, which I'll get a card up for closer to the date.

For those that are interested, this is what a league table for the UFC and the EXC shows would look like.

Enter Blue Guy: 95 + 110 = 205

LBTN Killed Monkey?: 90 + 95 = 185

crazedfan: 85 + 85 = 170

Takayamanofear: 85 + 80 =165

desiredtoe: 90 + 75 = 165

Mr. Potato Head: 95 + 65 = 160

Natural Born Thrilla: 85 + 55 = 140

ACCBiggz: 65 + 65 = 130

Typical Phenom: N/A + 50 = 50

Since all those shows are happening within two days of each other maybe we could pick one fight off each card (probably the one with the best known fighters in it). Saying that though, I don't think I've heard of any cards being announced for any of these shows. The only things I've heard is that Duane Ludwig should be taking on Shinya Kamazuwa on the ROF card and Ryo Chonan should be on the DEEP card, although he hasn't done much recently. I think he's lost 3 of his last 4 in PRIDE.

So yeah, waiting for the next PRIDE show is probably best (Silva vs. Henderson & Gomi vs. Diaz should be interesting fights) as UFC 68 is just one week later on the 3rd IIRC.

An additional card was announced for the February 24th event, PRIDE.33 "THE SECOND COMING," to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. His first PRIDE match since his defeat to Aleksander Emelianenko on September 10, 2006, Kharitonov will be fighting against Mike Russow.

Sergei Kharitonov (Russia/Russian Top Team) VS. Mike Russow

In addition, Kazuhiro Nakamura will not be able to fight at the upcoming event due to an injury to his left knee. Travis Wiuff's card is currently under consideration.
