  1. Woo. Amazing Reading this year. Band wise it was better than last year; Rage Against The Machine were simply awesome and made my festival alone, but some strong acts from The Music, Pendulum, Tenacious D and Metallica solidified it for me.

I was a little let down by QOTSA, as i consider them to be one of my top 5 bands and the sound was pretty terrible and i was right slap band in the middle front. It's funny because then Rage came on and played a CD quality performance, it was incredible. Biffy Clyro too was another band i was let down by, playing a set full of fillers from their new album and barely even touching their older, much more popular stuff.

I was pumped for MGMT and was quite near the front after Jack Penate left the stage. Suddenly the crowd turned into a crushing and swaying frenzy and not long after i lost one of my shoes and my foot proceeded to be used as a footmat for every fucker in my crowd to the point where i thought i broke my foot. My friends helped me out and i went back to campsite to find a replacement pair of shoes and to get a whole lotta beer to dull the pain. I still got to see Electric Feel though!

Buttscratcher failing to replace the Bollocks chant was one of funniest things at the start of the festival but by the end i had grown tired of it. 3 mornings i was woken up to a Buttscratcher chant, the worst being at 8 am, just one hour after getting to sleep to someone right outside my tent:

    "Knock Knock

    Whose There?

    ...

    BUTTSCRATCHER"

(Followed by about another 50 people repeating it).

Also, anyone here who were in either the Orange, Yellow or Indigo camps, how did you get on on Sunday Night with the 'Angry Mob' which consisited of a huge gatherment of GCSE kids causing a riot, ripping the toilets to pieces and setting them on fire before moving onto peoples tents. As much as im partial to a bit of choas every now and then this year was just too far and im shocked at the lack of Security prescence whilst peoples tents were literally being set on fire with people in them. Somewhere in yellow a 5ft girl was dragged out of her tent and pushed towards the fire and left to watch these cunts blow her tent up with a gas canister. I think the saddest thing i saw was a Father of 2 kids having to sit up all night guarding his tent because some clowns decided to stab through his tent with a sharp metal rod, almost severing his 10 year old kid.

Still despite this, it did little to tarnish my festival experience. Bring on '09.

  2. Beckham is a good player who can be great when he wants to be. I.E His last comeback to England before getting injured, Beckham performed well and proved that he was still worthy of being played. The same can be said for Wednesday; sure Beckham didn't light the world on fire (although he countless times ran back and covered for the slacking defence), but he was able to pitch that cross perfectally to Crouch, which, if our defence was any better, could of got England Qualified.

The only problem is, Beckham's fame hurts him. A few stand out moments based on his Free Kicking and Crossing Ability and his marriage to Victoria put him under the spotlight from not just the football fans, but all the media aswell. He suddenly became extremely marketable to the point where he had been previously named the 'face of football', and for a good to great player its your own double edged sword. People expected a lot more from Beckham because he is seen as this 'great player' and he was such a Big player that Sven refused to drop him from games, whether or not he was on form or not.

A football player's legacy shouldn't be judged on how fast he can run or how many tricks the guy could do, and it shouldn't always have to matter about the amount of goals a player has scored. It should be judged by the contribution he made to his club and country. Whether you admit it or not, Beckham provided England and Man U with the best balls from the right wing on a regular basis, it was finishing them off where they, especially England, always failed at. He had a great Free Kick, which admittedly could be underwhelming at times, but he would always score them when they were most needed. He's saved us from failure on a number of occasions, and while his goal count isn't overly impressive, the amount of goals that have come from his creativity and preciseness is outstanding.

  3. YESSSSSSSSSS.

Sorry for post whoring. That wasnt a penaulty, its a shame that it had to happen this way, but the momentum is with England, perhaps for the first time.

OH shit. That was almost 3-1.

FUCKING SAVE carson. Earn your stripes son.

  4. Lampard should be subbed, he has done nothing the entire first half.

    What!?

Did i just hear SWP and Barry are being subbed!? Please tell me otherwise.

Hmm Beckham, well if there's one person to Save_Us \/\/3 suck - its him.

  5. Fuck Carson.

EDIT: Why the hell someone whose first competitive internation game is one where Loosing is NOT an option is picked over someone who has one of the best Goals Against Record in the Tournament is beyond me. Sure Robinson has his blunders, but seriously? We have the most inexperienced Defence we've had in years and we stick in a guy whose as green as the pitch in the most pressureised position in his first competitive game.

    Oh and unlucky SWP.

  6. Might as well keep this in the actual F1 2007 thread...

McLaren have been stripped of their points in the 2007 Formula One constructors' championship after the outcome of the 'spygate' row.

The team was also hit with a record $100m (£49.2m) fine but drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso will be allowed to keep their points.

The team's 2008 cars will have to be examined before they are allowed to race next season.

McLaren team chief Ron Dennis is due to speak at a 1915 BST news conference.

  7. I agree. These last two England performances have been great. But i dont think Heskey is going to keep his spot on the pitch once Rooney is back. I am with the majority here and think Heskey has had a cracking 2 games, but Rooney adds a lot more offensive to the attack whereas Heskey seems to be a very modest and unselfish player, and would rather set up other players for the goals unless he is standing 10 Yards away from the goal.

Beckham would be another tough choice for McLaren; whether or not to choose Beckham over SWP. Wright-Phillips played decently these last two games, not up to his full potential but well enough to warrant a place in the next starting 11. Usually. Beckham, also had a great last 2 games prior to getting injuried and so, like Rooney he never 'lost' his spot, and i can see McLaren using this logic to put Beckham in over SWP and have SWP come on as a Subsitute sometime in the 2nd half.

    Hargreaves is another tough call. The only player from the World Cup who looked like to give a damn actually became a hero for England. Once he's back, where does he go? Hargreaves has always seemed to be put in that 'Holding' role, that the last 2 games have proved isn't really needed. And who would he replace? Barry has perhaps made one of the biggest impacts starting in Midfield in years and he and Gerrard connect so well in the middle that last night was perhaps the tightest and most solid our Midfield has been in god knows when. That also brings up my next point;

Lampard shouldn't be chosen over Barry. Lampard has been very uninspiring in pretty every International game he has played in the last 3 years. Sure he gets a goal every now and then and he can have a good shot, but that is no reason to constantly play him like Beckham was through much of his tenure. Plus, as good as it sounds on paper; Gerrard and Lampard just doesn't work.

And Neville; well, i am a huge fan of his and all, but to be honest, i think Richards has done a much better job in these last two games than what Gary would of done, and i would a lot more comfortable with Richards starting over Neville in the next game.

  8. Well the song alone isn't so bad; Untitled 2 by John Frusciante from Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt on the mini film 'Stuff' filmed by Johnny Depp is coupled with Frusciante reading some form of poetry over the top while the camera just goes round his house, revealing that John was living in probably the best set for a horror film ever.

EDIT: For anyone who watches it, its the song the starts around the 3 minute mark as soon as you some of his blood on the wall, but both songs before that are quite creepy already.

  9. Well, this weekend is for the Carling Weekend/Reading/Leeds, whatever you wanna call it. Whose going? And what you looking forward to see?

Im going Reading, am a little worried about the ground, as the majority of the campsites are now unusable due to the floods a few weeks back, but still, the weathers looking promising now for the event, so ho hum.
