  1. So yet another player is rumored to jump ship. Carmelo Anthony, though there is nothing official (nor would there be) but after his contract is up this season, many believe that he will leave the Nuggets for an East Coast team like the Knicks. Now I don't know about you but this is getting ridiculous, this is becoming a nightmare for smaller market clubs like the Raptors, Cavs, New Orleans and Denver.

  2. On the heels of this supermassiveultra-tastic trade, The Raptors jumped on the trade mill by trading Marco Belinelli to the Hornets for Julian Wright

The Hornets have agreed to trade forward Julian Wright to the Raptors in exchange for guard Marco Belinelli, according to sources.

What Wright may be able to bring is some defensive toughness at the SF/G spot. He also brings his youthfulness to a Raptors club that is now in the Young Gunz era. Unfortunately though, the Raps try to get rid of a loaded logjam at guard and now create one at SF. So we will see if this may lead to other trades down the line.

  3. Theo Ratliff and Matt Barnes look to be joining the Lakers.

Ratliff was reported already and the Matt Barnes thing has been reported on NBA.com

Barnes roulette wheel ends on Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers won the battle for one of the last fussed-over free agents on Thursday, agreeing to terms with Orlando Magic free agent forward Matt Barnes on a two-year, $3.6 million deal. Barnes turned down more money from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who had offered a multi-year deal worth more than $3 million annually. The Celtics and Heat also had pursued Barnes, who finally found a team after a proposed sign-and-trade deal with the Toronto Raptors fell apart earlier in the week.

Barnes averaged 8.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in his one season in Orlando. (The Lakers will be Barnes's eighth NBA team.) But both Miami and Boston could only offer the veteran's minimum of $1.146 mllion for Barnes; the Heat used its remaining cap room to sign forward Mike Miller, and the Celtics used their mid-level exception on Jermaine O'Neal.

Meanwhile, the Lakers had about $1.8 million remaining after signing guard Steve Blake to a four-year, $16 million free agent deal. Blake replaced Jordan Farmar, who took a three-year deal in New Jersey. Barnes will likely back up Ron Artest next season, though league sources say Lakers Coach Phil Jackson wants less drama next season and could be looking to quiet things down in the locker room after Los Angeles' ride to a second straight championship.

Barnes drew attention with his confrontation with Kobe Bryant in a game last March and his subsequent accusation that Bryant threw numerous elbows without punishment and that he would not back down from challenging Bryant in the future. That assertion may have impressed Bryant -- who, a source says, pressed hard for the Lakers to get Barnes just as he had pushed them to sign former nemesis Raja Bell. Bell opted to return to the Utah Jazz with a three-year, $10 million deal earlier this month.

Barnes announced on his Twitter page Monday that he was going to the Raptors, and league sources said it was a two-year, $9 million deal. But either the league shot down the proposed mechanism for making the sign-and-trade work, the Magic or Raptors didn't interpret a cap rule correctly or Barnes simply jumped the gun. Whatever the reason, the deal fell apart Tuesday and Barnes was left with no place to make the money he supposedly was getting in Toronto, with his agent unable to find a suitable landing place.

All Orlando could offer Barnes, even to facilitate a sign-and-trade, was $1.92 million next year, due to his "non-Bird" status; he had only played one season with the Magic.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the deal between Barnes and the Lakers.

  4. Sounds like Turkoglu is going to Phoenix, and Calderon and Evans are going to Charlotte. The Raptors are picking up Barbossa, Chandler, and Diaw if the reports are true.

Word is Michael Jordan doesn't want to part with Tyson Chandler so the Bobcats are out of the deal but Turk for Barbosa is still going to happen as one transaction while the other players are "on ice" as they put it at RealGM.

Jordan put it on ice because he got a better deal:

Tyson Chandler and Alex Ajinca have been dealt by the Bobcats to Dallas for the non-guaranteed contract of Erick Dampier, Matt Carroll and Eduardo Najera, according to a source.

Chandler believed he would be traded to the Raptors on Monday, but owner Michael Jordan backed out of the trade.

    Read more: http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap/#ixzz0taxpuS8D

With this they get more flexibility as Dampier is not guaranteed (and it's like 10 Million i think) also they get decentness in Najera and an okay guy in Carroll.

As a Raps fan that kinda sucks as Chandler would have worked amazingly in TO with Bargs at the PF if he stayed healthy and with Diaw they would have gotten a multi-faceted scorer.

Also in answer to naiwf, the Heat have signed Ziggy, Zydrunas Ilgauskas (though his defence is not the greatest he is a big boy)

  5. Beasley dumped to the Wolves for air

The Heat and Timberwolves have agreed on a trade that will send Michael Beasley to Minnesota.

Minnesota will absorb Beasley's salary using their cap space and will send a second round pick in 2011. Sources say the two teams will also agree to swap a first round pick in the future.

  6. unfortunately it is Miami :( oh well, there goes the world! Still Go LAKERS!!!

    Here's some other news -

David Lee accepts S&T to Golden State

David Lee has agreed to a six-year, $80 million deal with the Warriors via a sign-and-trade.

The Knicks are likely to receive Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelenna Azubuike back in return.

Golden State and New York had worked on the framework of a deal during the day on Thursday that was contingent on the decision of LeBron James.

  7. of course we won't know until the Bron Bron show but apparently he is leaning toward Miami but this is pure speculation

LeBron James has decided to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, according to multiple sources that spoke with Newsday.

"Multiple sources are telling Newsday that LeBron James has decided to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami," wrote Hahn. "The new Big Three is here."

RealGM Note: The headline on Newsday's sport page reads 'Sources: LeBron leaning towards choosing Heat.'

The news of the 10-11 NBA salary cap being at $58.044M creates additional cap room for James, Wade and Bosh to get closer to a maximum contract.

James is scheduled to announce his final decision live on ESPN at 9:00 PM EST on Thursday.

James met with the Knicks, Nets, Heat, Clippers, Cavaliers and Bulls in that order last week.

The Heat only have Michael Beasley ($4.962M) and Mario Chalmers ($854k) under contract for the 10-11 season.

Wade and Bosh stated their intention to sign with the Heat on Wednesday morning.

  8. Free Agent Signing. From everything I've seen and read over the last day. I have not heard them mention a sign and trade.

ESPN scroll says Toronto's trying to work out a sign and trade with Bosh. I don't see what Miami could possibly trade them, other than Beasley, some t-shirts and a couple of mid level cap exceptions?

it is possible that Toronto could grab Beasley or Joel Anthony and then a trade exception for the rest of the money so possibly giving them room to trade away Turk if they want to OR grab extra salary to get a salary dump IF their record goes south next year.

Also if that rumor of the three team trade is true it immediately helps all parties (assuming Przybilla is traded and not Bayless)

  9. Also a guy who really benefited from the best point guard in the last 10 years.

If the rumors are true of Tony Parker possibly making his way to San Antonio then maybe this might work out but without a good point guard, I do not see Amare getting all those great numbers.

...Tony Parker is with San Antonio right now.

yeah just wanted to make sure people were reading :shifty:

    I mean from obv.

  10. you have to disable streaming media servers.

I used to get this all the time and bang my head against the wall till I had a new red coloured wall. This SHOULD solve the problem, though no guarantees.

Disable them on the ps3 or on my pc?

    ps3

  11. Also a guy who really benefited from the best point guard in the last 10 years.

If the rumors are true of Tony Parker possibly making his way to San Antonio then maybe this might work out but without a good point guard, I do not see Amare getting all those great numbers.

  12. Rumor has it that the Knicks are offering a 5 year, 100 million contract to Amar'e. I love Amare, but that is just ridiculous

    :crying:

I am now convinced that James Dolan's mission in life is to destroy the Knicks franchise.

    It took you this long?

I used to just think that he was just incompetent. Now I think his sabotaging the franchise is deliberate. You spend a decade sucking ass and after years of spinning your wheels you finally start getting rid of shitty contracts, clear the decks for the first time in the millennium and then decide the best thing to do is give away the mother of all shitty contracts?

    It hurts :(

The Joe Johnson one in Atlanta might be worse.

    Much worse.

  13. Amir Johnson resigns with Toronto - 5 yrs @$35 Mill. I think the Raps may have over spent on Amir but he was a good off the bench guy for Toronto last year and if he can get out of foul troubles his game will improve a lot.

And on who would be signed by Miami if they get all three, I can think of Finley for sure and T-Mac. I think T-Mac would come off the bench if it means playing for a ring.

Just a thought too, imagine (because in all likelihood it would not happen), Shaq and Iverson taking minimum contracts loaded with bonuses (in Miami they are lenient on the taxes anyway) then they could possibly have a 5 like: Iverson, D-Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Shaq. With T-Mac and Finley off the bench.

However, Iverson and Bron are ball hogs and all those egos prob would never be able to figure itself out but its just a pipedream.

When it comes to Brown opting out, it is more for job security. There is talk of 2011 having a lockout and if he had opted in, the next season if there was a lockout, he would get zero money, this at least guarantee him money for maybe 3-4 yrs, maybe at a lower rate but still longer. Also if he is loyal to LA, it means more cap space for a team that is always at the luxury tax line

  14. Paul Pierce is opting out and Danny Ainge has unsurprisingly said the Celtics won't be chasing him down if another team gives him a good offer.

because in all honesty, Pierce is not the same guy who took them to the promised land 2 years back and I highly doubt the Celts wanna strap themselves for cash in a 4 year deal (which is what he is rumored to look for). Also Garnett is a shadow of the player he once was. Ray Allen can still be in this league for many years with his pure abilities but he cannot carry a team. Basically, IMO it is all but over for the Big 3 whether it falls apart now or by next season, it will be Rondo's team with whoever they can get.

  15. Wizards absorb more cap room

On Tuesday, the Nets traded Yi Jianlian to the Wizards for Quinton Ross, creating additional room under the salary cap.

The Nets sent the Wizards cash in the deal.

This opens up $3 million more salary cap room, leaving the team about $30 million under the cap.

"This trade is a good opportunity to add a skilled 7-footer with significant NBA experience who was the sixth overall pick in the draft just three years ago," Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement. "Yi fits in very well with our ongoing plan of building towards the future with a core of young, talented players."

    Read more: http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/67569/20100629/yi_traded_to_wizards_freeing_up_more_cap_room_for_nets/#ixzz0sIaO2MmI

So the Nets dump another player (as they booted Dooling) and basically get more cap space gearing up to be a player in the 2010 free agency market.

Imagine if Lebron goes to the Nets. Bron, Harris, Lopez, and possibly a power forward like Boozer or Lee (getting just under the max money for both PFs would make this possible). That could be possible.

I think the Bulls may have the best chance of all the guys with the free money right now as Miami has only 3 players available: Joel Anthony (they qualified his offer today), Mario Chalmers, and Beasley and therefore not much to really make up a sign and trade, also if they can get 3 one of the three must lower their price or all must lower their prices to build a team beyond the 3. However, the Bulls, do have some players like Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, James Johnson, Taj Gibson and Luol Deng. They are good pieces that can be built around especially Rose, and a combonation of either Deng or Noah. One of the two could be moved in a SnT that would give the Bulls more room to sign a Bosh or whoever.

Probably another good place would be NYC. They have good swingmen and guards in Wilson Chandler, Danilo and to a lesser extent in Toney Douglas and Bill Walker. Then there is also the wildcard of what happens with David Lee, either a SnT, signing the dude (worst case) or letting him go. Also there are the intangibles that NYC have for the likes of Lebron like the free-willing crazy lifestyle of New York and with possibly a lot more endorsement money. But then there is also the mega spotlight that some will not be able to take. Can Lebron take the heat in a championship starved city that WANTS WANTS WANTS an NBA title.

The Clippers are also a dark horse I think in this whole hooplah. The other LA team has parts like Baron Davis, Blake Griffin, Kaman, DeAndre Jordan, Eric Gordon, and the new draftees like Aminu (who has the best eyewear ever) and lil Eric Bledsoe. They also have enough assets AND enough money to sign at least one big name and possibly trade for another. Imagine the likes of Lebron in LA-LA-LAND. The 5 would most likely be...Davis, Gordon, Bron, Griffin, and Kaman. Now that has potential. Imagine if they could pull something off with Kaman being traded? or even Davis (if anyone would be willing to take him)

I am getting real real excited about Thursday

  16. The great thing is, even with LeBron and Bosh, New York does not have a team that could win the conference, let alone the title. If they sign Bron and Bosh, they are renouncing David Lee's bird rights so, he's out of the picture, leaving them with Gallinari (who I think would be great as a 3rd banana in a contender) and who else, Sergio Rodriguez? Wilson Chandler?

I'm not entirely sure, but if they signed LeBron and Bosh I think they could go over the cap to sign and trade Lee. They also need to negotiate a buyout of Eddy Curry's deal too. It doesn't really matter though because it seems like they're going to repeat the mistakes of the past and give huge deals to players who clearly aren't worth it.

they could presumably trade off Lee to Toronto for Bosh with some extra pieces to make up the deal and they would have enough room. Also as you said, getting rid of Curry is a must as the Knicks are synonymous with busts.

  17. Here is what is supposed to be a post-draft day trade as they do not have the players or cap available yet however:

Bulls trade Hinrich to the Wizards aka the story of 3 guards...

The Bulls have a trade in place that would send guard Kirk Hinrich and the No. 17 pick to the Wizards, sources told ESPN.com's Ric Bucher.

The move would free up enough cap space for Chicago to sign two max-level free agents this summer.

The deal can't be consummated until July 8, when Washington will have enough room under the cap to absorb Hinrich's contract without having to send anything back in return.

Pure salary dump. The Bulls are trying to go all in on this free agent class.

They are also trying to trigger a deal for Deng which would see him sent to Orlando for Gortat and possibly Pietrus.

Miami wants to buyout James Jones to add to their free money space as well.

The Miami Heat are negotiating a buyout of James Jones' contract to further increase their financial flexibility for free agency this summer.

Jones has $15.5 remaining on his contract through 2012-13, but those final three seasons are only partially guaranteed if James is waived by June 30.

Waiving Jones would knock another $2.8 million off the Heat's salary cap for the 2010-11 season, giving them roughly $27 million to spend in free agency after July 1.

Another trade rumor circulating is the Nets and Pacers.

The Pacers and Nets are discussing a trade to send Danny Granger and the 10th pick for Devin Harris, Yi Jianlian and the No. 3 pick.

Indiana would draft Derrick Favors if they owned the pick.

A source indicates that the Nets are 'lukewarm' about the deal and nothing is imminent.

Highly doubt this trade would go through but who knows.

  18. Miami Heat clearing even more cap space...

The Miami Heat have agreed in principle to trade Daequan Cook and the 18th overall pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the No. 32 selection in the draft, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

“We are pleased to add Daequan Cook to the Thunder roster,” said Sam Presti, Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager in a press release. “He will add depth and shooting to our backcourt.”

They have traded down as well, meaning the Heat are not looking at this draft with anticipation and are looking to July to get their talent with now only Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers on their roster for next year. However there is also the major rumors that Beasley has fallen out of favour and could be used in a trade to get an All-Star.
