  1. So can we admit that Nog's far past his prime now?

No... but we can admit that he cannot continue to fight the way he has throughout his career. He's taken too many good shots, and just can't take too many more. He needs to start being the aggressor in his fights, and he needs to develop a better striking game.

The days are gone, where Nog could take a pounding and then submit you. He needs to be assertive and control his fights from here-on out.

Frank Mir looked absolutely fantastic though. I don't think there's a Heavyweight in the UFC who could have beaten the Frank Mir that showed up tonight.

Was it a case of Frank Mir looking great or was it a case of Nog looking shitty? I'm still not sure, to be honest.
  2. Well, this fight went pretty much exactly how I predicted it. Brock won. Now he must defeat Nog and Fedor to completely dismantle Sherdog's message board from within.

Speaking of Sherdog, I present you now with the SHERDOG QUOTE EXTRAVAGANZA~!

wow, so WWE stars are now also good at MMA. fuckin ridiculous.

i don't care what anybody says brock put in little MMA work. And is gonna be crowned the best in the world by every UFC employee. i'm gonna puke too.

God what a fucking joke... Dana bashed EliteXC for Kimbo but how is Lesnar all that much different...

This is really disappointing. I hate when a huge dude wins with no technique and just superior size and strength. It's Kerr all over again but bigger.

The other annoying thing is the guy is two weight classes above Randy. It's like GSP versus Rampage or Kenflo against Dan Henderson.

could the undertaker train basketball for a few years and beat kobe bryant? could steven segal train boxing for a few years and beat roy jones jr? thats what just happened to the ufc. how fucking embarassing. every mmaist now has their skill thrown into question. we're going to get laughed at for a long ass time...

It sounds shitty, you won because you're fucking huge, not because you're talented. Go get subbed by Mir again you fucking asshole, you're not a champion.

Can't wait to see Nog wreck his dumb ass on the ground.

meh fuck the ufc man fuck this shit im outta here, not an mma fan anymore, i know that you guys dont give a shit but im pissed as hell....see ya guys

Huge leap back for the legitimacy of the UFC, wich was pretty well cemented.

Looked bad for UFC. Big muscle man out of breath, ugly looking style beat veteran a lot younger.

    Professional wrestling beats UFC arghh

    bad night for UFC

definitely agree...those guys looked like amateurs in there...they barely even threw punches. Fedor can throw more punches in one second than either one threw the entire fight.

no, theres tons of talented wrestlers who didnt and cant amount to shit in the sport. he had wrestling experience 10 years ago, got kicked off an nfl team and wanders over to mma and takes the belt in a couple years. a big guy with wrestling experience can train for a few years and take the belt off the best the ufc has to offer. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD the ufc and everyone in it looks like a fucking joke now to the rest of the world.

this proves that guys like the Undertaker would rule the UFC (LOL had to throw that in there )

Today is a great day to be a wrestling fan. Brock must never lose, just to piss these people off.

  3. I'm saying Brock by a quick TKO. He's caught both Frank Mir and Heath Herring in the first round and nearly knocked them out so I have a feeling he'll do the same to Randy who will most likely be knocked out due to his age. I'm not saying he can't take a punch, I'm saying he may have a hard time taking a Brock Lesnar-sized punch.

  4. But you're forgetting that a lot of those guys went to EXC in the first place because UFC didn't want them. Maybe a couple will get picked up, but the vast majority will continue to flounder unless a viable #2 promotion opens up.

This is true, but I'm sure some of them have improved, and even if they haven't, you have a bunch of fighters coming off of CBS exposure.

  5. Wow, I guess I was right when I said RIP EliteXC a few weeks back. However, it ended up being less about the Petruzelli win, and more about his comments on that radio show. He sure did fuck over that poor company.

Oh well, I guess this means there's some good free agents out there now who can head to UFC (or Affliction, but my interest in that company died when they announced the MMA/boxing hybrid idea). Here's hoping for a women's division somewhere.

  6. Please, the hype and everything gone ? It was a punch, one fucking punch. That happens in fights ... if you're caught just right it doesn't matter. That's all that happened. Nothing more.

Wow, talk about overreacting. Hell, the rematch would sell out quicker than all fuck. Elite now has a ready made script with Kimbo and the pink haired fucker.

    Seriously, what the fuck people.

Some relative no-name came in and knocked out their biggest draw in 11 seconds. This biggest draw's entire reputation is based on his ability to knock people out. Kimbo Slice was built as the ultimate bad-ass. Tonight, he looked like he didn't even belong in the cage.

I mean, who would want to see a rematch of a fight that was as conclusive as this one? I certainly don't. Kimbo's aura has been destroyed, along with his star power being seriously damaged. It's a critical hit to EliteXC because he's their Hulk Hogan. Imagine if Hulk Hogan had been booked to lose to Jim Powers in the main event of WrestleMania. So, now you can just build the entire WWF around Jim Powers? Sadly, it doesn't work that way.

  7. MMA needs to stop allowing guys to go on PTI. Liddell, Rampage and Kimbo all made appearances before losses. I'm not saying it's like the SI/Madden jinx, but if they throw Anderson Silva or Gina Carano on there and they lose their next fight just remember this post.

I'm not sure you know whom he's going up against...

  8. And Brian, no MMA fan should be rooting for Petruzelli - Kimbo's pretty much the only thing keeping MMA viable on network TV, the guy who beats him needs to have better than a 50/50 shot of winning his next fight. Brett Rogers would be nice.

This is true for the time being, but if this show does poorly and CBS cancels Elite, I wouldn't be surprised if they went after UFC.

  9. They just might get done on schedule this time! Two fights to go!

However, with this next fight being a title fight, if it goes the distance we're looking at 25 minutes.

The Arlovski fight was fine. Nothing to write home about. He looked OK. I would be interested in him vs. Antonio Silva, but I'm guessing this fight was just done to build him vs. Barnett (which I have no interest in).

  10. Cyborg vs. Carano will be exciting if nothing else. Cyborg's like MMA's version of a spot monkey.

I have never seen her fight, but now I will have to check something out that you put it like that.

And damn, Big Country is a fat guy, compared to the way most fighters physics are.

From what I've heard, that's why UFC didn't hire him.

This whole EliteXC/Affliction partnership is just weird. We can only hope it will lead to Fedor/Kimbo :shifty:
