  1. Shouldn't Sid be a Main Eventer? He just headlined WrestleMania. And yes, in real life he would leave the WWE soon afterwards and he kinda only had the spot because the Vader push didn't work out but I'd consider him a Main Eventer.

And Billy Gunn should be heel. The Smoking Gunns split-up in late 1996 after Billy turned on Bart.

Maybe turn D'Lo into a manager? I don't think they even mentioned his name yet by that point and he didn't wrestle. He was just another member of the NoD entourage.

I'm on the fritz about Sid. I just don't think he was on the same level as Hart/Michaels/Taker in terms of overness and the scope if main eventers in WCW as well. I think 88 suits him perfectly.

Billy Gunn should probably be a heel, so I will change that.

D-Lo is fine where he is I think. I could put him in developmental but I don't think it makes much of a difference.

Also I'm adding a small note for myself: adjust managers for clients in WWF.

  2. So I've finished up the entire roster and work needed for the WWF. I must say, this is freakin' easy when all you have to do is make a handful of workers, research who's where at what time, and adjust the overness of workers in accordance with their position post-Wrestlemania 13.

Quick disclaimer though: I will not be arguing the salaries of any workers, so don't even bother.

I'd love to be able to help, but my knowledge of this time isn't great. I am, however, looking forward to playing this scenario. Your August 1996 scenario is fantastic. I have one question though, are you going to put people who are younger than 18 so that they show up to be hired years into the game. I'm thinking guys from the end of WCW, Palumbo, O'Haire, Jindrak that crew.

I will most likely try to do something along the those lines. The only problem is, I have to run through a lot of workers that haven't been made yet, and figure out how to factor them in to the game considering they haven't even debuted yet. I have no problem putting in workers that are younger than 18 years old, the only problem is finding them (which I will eventually have to down the road) and figuring out what their stats should be at 18-years of age.

And trust me, I was five years old in 1997 so my knowledge of this time period isn't great either.

From WWF Raw Is War, March 31st, 1997

So I'm in the preliminary process of creating the next data set in the MASTERS series, April 1997.

This is set right after Wrestlemania XIII and right before Spring Stampede '97, meaning you clock should be set for "March 1997" to get the time right.

This is gonna be a bit more difficult than it should be, but only because I lost all of my data and resources from when I first created this scenario. But thankfully, it won't be as tough as creating a data set from scratch! I figure this is the next logical time to start from, and will hopefully be attempting to expand the series further in with consistent points in April (due to it being right after Wrestlemania), although other big moments (such as the Montreal Screwjob), will also feature updates.

As of now, I am currently compiling the rosters for WWF, WCW, and ECW, using Wikipedia and Cagematch.net as resources (seriously, Cagematch.net is a fucking blessing). I also wish I had WWE Network, but probably won't get it for awhile, although it would also be an incredible resource. Nevertheless, YouTube has a bunch of stuff up, so I'm doing what I can to draw conclusions as to how to disposition, gimmick-up, and adjust the overness for wrestlers. Thankfully, I have the August 1996 updated set to work from, and I can use it as an incredible base to just update everyone seven-eight months down the road.

My first step so far as been mocking up rough drafts of the WCW, WWF, and ECW roster (haven't started on ECW yet), and I'm looking for people to sort of "fill in the blanks". Don't worry about salary and complete (those are for me), I just need some advice from people concerning the Face/Heel disposition and gimmick of each wrestler, as well as a suggestion for overness (). I also need people to let me know who I'm missing. I'm trying to compose a very accurate roster for each of the big three (and holy moley does WCW have a huge roster!) I'm sure I'll miss someone.

  4. So basically, this game still holds up as F'ing amazing, and if you didn't know from your XBOX Dashboard, the game is available for FREE for a limited time right now, for all XBOX Gold Members. If you love GTA style games, this was MADE for you. I am a huge advocate of how awesome this game is, how well it is put together, and the variety of missions and mission types.

But yeah, main point: game is free for XBOX Gold Members via download if you are interested. I downloaded it since I don't really care for paying new-release prices for games I know I'll get later for a much cheaper price. When I saw this, I jumped on it ASAP and have been addicted since I've started playing.

  5. No disrespect to the Ravens but I can't figure out if they're good or what. I mean they're certainly not bad by any means, but they're barely squeaking out some of these wins in some incredibly fluky circumstances. Could see them being fucking dangerous in the playoffs though, assuming they make it. They just have that vibe.

Killer instinct. Same demeanor which won them the Super Bowl last year.

  6. I need the Lions not to choke so that they can go to the playoffs! Lions with the touchdown but CJ couldn't get the 2-point conversion. Love just having the option to throw it up man-to-man to Johnson, but poor execution this time 'round. Let's hope this defense can get a stop and Jacoby Jones doesn't sneak through this kick off.

EDIT: WHAT THE FUCK. I CANT BELIEVE HE MADE THAT.

  7. Can we just do organic pictures placed in a black frame of a specific pixel-width? Cutting individual wrestlers just to put on some stupid background is a complete waste of time working on one wrestler when you could have made seven or eight others during the time spent finding a good picture and cutting it.

  8. I think there is a big difference between collisions where the runner violently targets the catch, and collisions where the base runner goes shoulder to shoulder with the catcher. Buster's position was why he shattered his leg. The whole point of knocking the catcher is to prop the ball out, not to injure the catcher. There should be fines for head to head intentions or results, but I'm sick of victimizing there guys that literally play a sport for a living and make millions of dollars. Oh you took a hard hit and injured yourself? Boo hoo.

  9. So the MLB is planning on banning home-plate collisions, one of the classic images of the sport itself.

Don't really like this, just because there are a few freak incidents doesn't mean the entire idea has to be eliminated. Apparently catchers won't be allowed to block the plate and runners aren't allowed to target the catcher. Always thought it was an exciting play when it happens. If Buster Posey was a nobody this would be a non-issue. I bet San Francisco's front office was a leader in this movement.

  10. So this is a subject concerning foreign workers in the game that I've had some trouble coming to a conclusion about. Obviously, EWR is meant to act as a simulator for North American pro wrestling, and can suffice realistic gameplay related to American, Canadian, and Mexican promotions. This leaves one area of the real world, however, left to a different system of interaction with the user: Japanese touring promotions. There is no reason for me to go into detail on how the game uses Japanese promotions and its touring systems, since we're all well versed with EWR by now. My concern is a bit specific, and relates to my development of future Wrestling at WAR scenarios, and perhaps more straight timeline databases like my August 1996 MASTERS scenario.

The reason I have been debating this with myself for awhile goes back to my introduction of Japanese workers in my Wrestling at WAR scenario. The second version I released included realistic rosters for Japanese promotions around in 1996, adding plenty of Japanese workers into the database, especially big names whom the user may be appropriately interested in using. In fact, in my alternate universe, World Star Wrestling has a prominent working relationship with All Japan Pro Wrestling, so the inclusion of workers like Misawa, Akiyama, and Kawada available for hire if the user had chosen WSW to play with, was an important aspect I wanted to include in the database.

However, having played multiple games, I've reached an awkward point in the scenario's development that has me at a cross-roads. No matter what promotion you choose, Japanese workers will always be picked up by five out of the six promotions in the database. This makes for, quite frankly, unrealistic signings. In my scenario is the company Hollywood Championship Wrestling, "owned" by Richard Branson and headlined by guys like Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, and Kevin Nash. Obviously, a promotion built around the sports entertainment style of wrestling, and not one to hire guys from Japan just because they have higher stats. So when companies like HCW and WWF hire Japanese workers with high stats, it kind of hurts the product of the scenario, because it's an unrealistic signing for these sports entertainment based companies hiring Japanese workers who don't speak English and don't have an gimmick transferable to American wrestling such as guys like The Great Muta may have been able to do.

Confronting the situation, here is the dilemma I've been trying to figure out and would like opinions on...

Is EWR's Japanese system intended for putting workers based in North America on tour, or for including every worker on the Japanese promotion's roster?

What I mean by this is, does EWR play better with no Japanese workers in the game, and was rather designed to have a list of five or six North American workers who are touring with, let's say, a promotion like NJPW? Does the inclusion of every NJPW worker at the time defeat the games mechanics and screw everything up because they are available to North American promotions too? Is the game not meant to include midcard Japanese workers? Does it even need to include the "big names"?

There's no doubt that in the mid-90's, Mitsuharu Misawa was a top 10 worker in the world with great "EWR stats". His inclusion in my Wrestling at WAR database is essential, because I believe the user should be allowed to hire him, especially if the user is playing as WSW? But is his inclusion in the database inherently flawed because of the way EWR treats Japan? Should North American promotions not be allowed to hire guys like him? Should Japanese promotions only be showing and signing for tours North American workers?

I created a separate thread for this because I would like there to be a conclusion reached eventually, without the discussion getting lost and forgotten about in the main SSTP thread. What are your opinions? Should databases include Japanese workers? Or should the Japanese promotions just show North American workers who are touring with the promotion?

My opinion has been shifting towards the belief that Japanese workers shouldn't be included in the database due to their game-breaking risk concerning workers like Misawa and Kawada with great statistics, but no realistic shot at signing long-term written contracts with American sports entertainment promotions. This is a shame because they inclusion is a great addition for someone running a more pure-wrestling based promotion, but perhaps it's just something we can't (or I can't) avoid because that's the nature of EWR.
