  1. Given that it looks like Jordan Rhodes is going to Benfica, can anyone give me a scouting report of the type of player that he is?

He's scored a lot of goals in the 2nd tier of English football. He's an out-and-out goalscorer really. I'm sure Blackburn fans could tell you more.

No one I know has heard that rumour at all, but as a player he just scores goals. Not especially fast, hard working etc, he just scores. >_>

I saw this being reported by some journalists on twitter.

So, he really sounds like Cardozo. Not bad at all actually

  2. Out of all the theories surrounding the show, Jon being Rhaegar and Lyanna's bastard seems to be one that makes the most sense. I wouldn't be surprised if in Winds of Winter it open with them attempting to burn his believed death body, only for him to stand up and walk off, unaffected (as he's really a Targaryen).

I wonder if we'll see Asshai/The Shadow Lands at all. I mean, I know GRRM said a while ago it was unlikely, there's always that quote from Quaithe to Dany that implies she'd need to go there.

Targs are not immune to fire, they never were. Dany's case on th pyre was a one off thing, GRRM said in some interviews.

  3. Just had a 66-20 thrashing of the post-Manning Broncos with the Raiders. Running in this slider set is ridiculous, Pryor had over 150 yards and 3 TD's. He has 6 TD's in 2 games and like 340 rushing yards, leading the league

  4. Did Zenith flat out buy Axel Witsel? Because with Zenith fans not really taking to their big money signings, they might think about selling them on in order to make a clean break. That's the kinda midfielder I'd see Spurs trying to get, but if third party ownership sunk the Moutinho deal then Levy will probably flat out refuse to negotiate with another third party.

    They did

Have Napoli come into some money or something?

They have finished in the top 5 of the Serie A for like 4 or 5 years running now

  5. We were discussing it at half time last night, everyone around me would rather have won last night then win the derby Sunday. Top 4 is important, but a fans point of view should never be 'get in the Champions League for more money', it should be 'get in the Champions League, try to win it'. Mmm... cups.

Anyway, gutted about last night, moreso just down to the way we built a mountain with the silly mistakes in the first leg. Benfica looked quality first half but Pardews gameplan worked perfectly in terms of holding til halftime. Second half for long spells Benfica couldn't string two passes together, and there were a few 'if only' moments between a Ben Arfa strike, some typical Cisse offsides and what seemed a fairly decent penalty shout. Ref completely bottled the most blatant second yellow card you'll ever see for Almeida shortly before the Benfica goal too. Oh well, (year after) next year...

I obviously agree that the second half was all yours, but there weren't that many clear goal chances. And we could have ended it in the first half with the way the game was going.

Maybe, but there weren't that many clear goal chances :P

Nah, you definitely deserved it over the two legs, but it was really nice to see us really compete with a big European side (how many unbeaten now?) and not be completely outclassed. But for a few injuries (Simpson and Williamson were actually okay last night, but a fit Debuchy and Ben Arfa would've caused some problems on the right) who knows how we could've done.

Your flares made our twats look silly too...

36 games unbeaten. Our last defeat was against Spartak. Still haven't lost a single game in all Portuguese competitions as well

  6. Yeah, I read his twitter feed and he came off horribly. "I MADE OUT WITH A DRUNK CHICK" was combined with "Let's help her". This was the guy who got pissed that Spooney's betrayal schtick prevented him from getting taken seriously by people in the games industry.

Not that Screaming Mantis really does anything except be in a couple of Snob's videos, a couple of Benzaie videos and have like three of her own. But this won't be any good.

The same schtick that was the entire basis of Spoony's interview with the X-COM guys

  7. Really liked the episode. And the ending was terrific. I saw some people saying that the ending was not big or epic enough. But I liked that. Sometimes, people just leave, and there's nothing you can do about it

  8. Hulk and Witsel signed for Zenit? What the fuck.

Hulk was signed for 60 million euros and Witsel was signed for 40 million. There are also talks that Moutinho could also be on the move for Zenit. Those russians are crazy.blink.gif

    40 million euros for Witsel.

    ....

He is worth every penny of it. There are maybe 5 CM better than him

    Which lucky five is that?

The Barcelona 3, Yaya and Bastian

Witsel is really an amazing player.

No-one's doubting he's good, but to claim there are only 5 better central midfielders in the world is a bit over the top. Off the top of my head: Xavi, Iniesta, Alonso, Fabregas, Yaya Toure, Pirlo, Modric, Moutinho, Schweinsteiger all have to be at least in with a shout of being better... and that's without really thinking about it.

I rank Witsel on the same level as Moutinho, Modric, Pirlo and Ramires. There are 5 clearly ahead of everyone, the rest is on the same level

  9. Didn't he do the not celebrating thing last year because he wasn't happy with how the fans and media were treating him? I'm pretty surprised they don't absolutely love him, any negative qualities are pretty much outweighed by the fact he'll score 60 goals a season and is 99% of the time a joy to watch.

He is not spanish, there's their biggest problem.

    It's more "he's Portuguese"

And Hulk has been sold to Zenit for 48 million pounds. That makes him one of the most expensive players ever

  10. Not sure van Maarwijk deserved the boot really. The nature of international football I suppose.

Really? He didn't get a single point, they played absolute shit and every single player was whining. Of course he deserved the boot

  11. Gerald Wallace is quite old isn't he?

About to be 30. Not that old. He should have 2-3 years of high productive basketball left in him.

No he's not, because he's mainly a athleticism guy, that can really jump. And as he gets older, he's going to start to lose that.

  12. After 6 seasons managing Boussu (Belgium 2nd tier, last season finished them in 4th) Standard came calling and I accepted. I was spending 60k on wages per month on Boussu, Standard was spending 1M (they were not even nr1 in that regard). This should be fun
