  1. I cannot understand all the love for the Belgium song. It has a pretty decent beat, but the vocals are kinda boring and her live performance was utterly awful.

I wasn't able to watch the second semi-final, but from the first one I really liked the Finnish song, the Moldova song (my personal favorite just for how fun it is and maybe 10% for the return of epic sax guy) and even though it is not exactly my style, I do think the Portuguese song is one of the best this year. Especially in terms of lyrics (which will probably not be understood since you know... they wrote it in Portuguese:lol:). Oh and the Italian song is great, even though I don't understand the point of the lyrics after seeing the translation.:P

    Always rated him. <_<

Never seen him play to be honest. For those that watch the Portuguese league, what's all the fuss about? I love me a tough centre back but that fee is massive. The pressure on him would be huge.

A centreback from Liga NOS? That'll be the 'He looks like a world beater playing for Benfica/Sporting/Porto where he has to make one tackle per season and is then absolutely shit in a league that requires actual defending', also known as the Mangala Principle.

Lindelof did awesomely last season. He got to the first team because we had two center backs out for months, and he completely dominated at the spot (except for the first few games where it was obvious the guy wasn't used to the rest of the teams movements). Not only did he do great in the League he also did really well in the Champions League games, specially against Bayern. He went on to get a permanent spot with the Swedish National Team after a good Euro 2016.

This season I think he has been more inconsistent, probably because the other center-back on our team has been 35 year old Luisão, who clearly is beyond the expiration date. Still, I think he has loads of potential and just needs time to grow. He is already really good for his age, and Mourinho could be a good coach for him to improve on some points of his game. Oh, and he can also play as right-back. :)

  3. A group of teams from Brazil's First Division (so far I've read  Sao Paulo, Corinthians, Santos and Palmeiras as being the subscribers) have agreed to:

    1) loan players to Chapecoense for the next season, for free

    2) request that for the next 3 years the FA protects Chapecoense from being relegated to give them time to rebuild. That would mean that if they finished in the bottom 4, it would be the 5th from the bottom that would be relegated.

  4. Marcelo Boeck, a Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper out on loan on Chapecoense didn't travel with the team because he wouldn't start for the team and had his birthday was yesterday (reports say that he requested to stay for the birthday with his family). So he basically was saved due to having his birthday on that exact day and being a replacement on the team...

  5. Yes, everything I read from Brazilian guys is that people really liked them, because they grew in incredible fashion, and still, they treated their opponents very respectfully every in their town (again, a really small town). Add to that the fact that for such a small team, they had already got to the South American Cup quarter finals last year (lost to River Plate) and the finals this year (beating Independiente and San Lorenzo).

CNN are reporting that the aircraft may have run out of fuel.

What I read was that the pilots reported an electrical issue and requested an emergency landing. They ran out of fuel on purpose, to avoid the aircraft to explode (which is basically the reason why there are survivors).

    SAINT JORGE
Jorge Mendes becomes part of search for next England manager as FA turn to Jose Mourinho's super-agent
Portuguese has been contacted in recent days to help in the search for an ideal candidate to replace Roy Hodgson

THE Football Association has asked super-agent Jorge Mendes to help find the next England manager.

In the clearest sign yet that Wembley bosses would consider a foreigner to replace Roy Hodgson, the Portuguese was contacted in the past few days to see if he could identify a potential Three Lions boss.

FA bosses believe Mendes' contact book is so wide and varied that he might be able to find a top candidate to lead England's resurgence who was thought to be out of reach.

Mendes has long-established links with FA vice-chairman David Gill, who is part of the three-man team – along with chief executive Martin Glenn and technical director Dan Ashworth – who will appoint the next manager.

The trio met in Paris last Friday to establish a clear criteria for England's next head coach.

There will also be a full assessment of the disastrous Euro 2016 campaign and a general performance review of the country at major tournaments.

The FA's taskforce have already met with BBC presenter, Gary Lineker, former England stars Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard and Harry Redknapp about the future of the national side.

Redknapp wants a shot at the job and Ferdinand also re-iterated his interest about being involved as a coach.

Predictably the FA are also making it clear that the team must "have a clear identity" under the next manager.

SunSport reported last month how FA bosses spoke to Brendan Rodgers about a possible vacancy before Euro 2016, although Ashworth hoped that England would be successful to allow Hodgson to stay on to oversee the 2018 World Cup campaign.

But it has now emerged that Jose Mourinho was also approached by the FA towards the end of the season to establish his potential availability if Hodgson had to go, while Sam Allardyce and Harry Redknapp are the leading home-grown candidates.

Mourinho, though, was already privately confident of landing the Manchester United job he officially began this week and told the FA he was not an option if the worst did happen.

Gill had a number of dealings with Mendes in his previous role as chief executive at United and knows the Portuguese is one of the game's arch-fixers.

Mendes' managerial clients include Mourinho, former Brazil boss Luis Felipe Scolari - who turned the FA down in 2006 - Aitor Karanka and Carlos Queiroz.

Allardyce, Redknapp, Glenn Hoddle, Steve Bruce and Eddie Howe are potential home-grown options, with Sir Alex Ferguson lobbying strongly for the Sunderland boss.

West Ham chief Slaven Bilic is another who has backers, although the Hammers will fight hard to keep him in East London, while USA boss Jurgen Klinsmann is another alternative.

I respect Portugal for trying to be as dull as 2004 Greece in order to win a tournament.

Except we haven't played anything like Greece. The only game where we were anywhere close to that was against Croatia. But carry on with the circle jerk.
