  1. Ok, bit of backstory...I've always been a tiny bit on the overweight side, as before the summer, I was hovering around 190-200 (I'm 5'7). Over the summer, I was diagnosed with Osteomyelitis, a bone infection in the skull. 100% curable, but curing it involved IV antibiotics, so I had a tube installed in my arm. The tube prevented me from getting any really good exercise (like my bike) at all. In addition, because I had to be home from 9:00 to 10:30 every night to give myself the antibiotics, and because I had a freakin' tube in my arm, I got kinda depressed. As a result, I lost the motivation to work out, and now, I'm up to 220.

Now that I have the tube out of my arm and am cured, I want to lose weight, but it's become freezing outside, so my bike is going back into storage. I'm wondering if anybody thinks that Wii Fit would be a good investment? I have trouble motivating myself to get to a gym or whatever, but if I had Wii Fit, I think I would have more motivation to use it.

Anybody have any opinions on this?

  2. Kurtis? He's not evil. Just misunderstood. >_>

No boss battle that's THIS difficult can be against a guy who's just MISUNDERSTOOD.

Fuck Disgaea. I went to the ends of the earth for that game on the PS2. Finally got it and it blew my mind.

"What do you mean, go inside the weapon and fight to improve it's statistics? Throwing penguins? Blowing up little pyramids to change the map? The Dark Council? Level 10,000 monsters? Argh!"

    *Head explodes*

Yes, Disgaea IS rather in-depth. When I first turned it on, I got so overwhelmed and turned it off. The next time I played it, I did while talking to a friend of mine over AIM so he could basically explain everything to me.

But eventually, you figure out everything, from bribing senators in order to approve opening a gate to Prinny Land, to knowing when to throw those Geo Triangles on the right squares to cause a chain reaction that blows up the entire level.

  3. and pretty much endless team customization.

Have you got to the stage where you're reincarnating the same character dozens of times over to get their base stats boosted by the tiniest extra amount each time yet? :shifty:

I've done it a few times, but not a lot, because I now realize that it's pretty much pointless until the post-game.

I'm right now fighting the evil Defender of Earth for the 2nd time, where the entire level is covered in "Enemy Stats +150", and you have 9 other enemies to deal with.

  4. Disgaea DS.

In fact, I've played it every single day for about 2 weeks. I can really see what all the hype over Disgaea is about; it's one of the most in-depth, and fun RPG's I've ever played in my life.

It has a compelling story, fun and unique gameplay, and pretty much endless team customization. If you enjoy RPGs, and own a DS, this is an absolute must-buy for only $30.

  5. So the other day, I picked up Disgaea DS. I'd never played any Disgaea game before, and I was told by my friend (Who has basically played every RPG ever, as far as I can tell) that it's a must have. I figured it'd be a nice buy.

My DS was basically on all weekend. I would be doing something, but Disgaea would be right there next to me, waiting for my next command.

I've never played an RPG that is more in-depth, more complicated (in a good way, though), and has so much to do. This game is the absolute definition of infinite replayability. If you enjoy RPGs, and have a DS, this game is an absolute must have.

Anybody else find themselves trapped by Disgaea's claws?

  6. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: Yeah, you heard me. I've never been into the Zelda games at all. Just didn't like them. But with all the hype behind Twilight Princess, I was thinking it would reverse my stance on the series. Nope, I still didn't like it. Returned it within the week.

WCW Thunder for PS1: I got more entertainment watching the wrestlers' little "why you should pick me" videos than the actual game. You can win any match within 30 seconds. It's like they were trying to combine wrestling with Mortal Kombat, and something went horribly awry.

Mortal Kombat (for Game Boy): Just. Plain. Broken. It was actually Mortal Kombat I and II on one cartridge. MKII was great, MKI...not so much. It moved at about 1 frame every five weeks, the controls are very different (Sub Zero's freeze is back forward KICK? WHAT?), and it was just horrific to play.

  7. I got it on XBL instead of Wii simply for achievements and then was sad to realize that the game is so ridiculously hard that I probably won't get any of them. Mega Man 3 was one of the first video games I ever beat by myself as a kid, and I remember the series being hard, but holy fuck this game is just evil.

Wii version has achievements, too, actually.

Some of them are doable (Defeat this boss in less than 2 minutes, bat the game after jumping more than 100 times, etc). But a few of them (beat the game WITHOUT TAKING DAMAGE ONCE) I think were just put in there as a cruel joke to mock us.

And yeah, the game is very hard. I'm up to Wily's Castle, 2nd stage, but I keep getting Bweeew-Bweeew-Bweeew'd by it.

  8. Anybody else played Mega Man 9? I downloaded it a few days ago, and it's basically the perfect Mega Man game. It truly feels and plays like one of Mega Man's old games.

Plus, it has the trademark of most Mega Man games: it's HARD AS HELL! In a positive way, though. It feels good to want to bite my controller in frustration again. Each level has it's own little "Gimmick" that makes it hard.

Anybody else downloaded it? If not, I give it a high recommendation; it's a real must-buy from WiiWare.

  9. Man, I don't like the hype machine behind Kimbo as much as the next guy but he still had a fun aura around him and his fights. You could also tell that he legitimately wants to become a good fighter, and his heart is in it for the right reasons. But man, oh man I feel nothing but sorrow for him after that. I think he even may have had a few tears in his eyes. Where the hell can he go from here? Petruzelli is a far, far cry from a household name and after that embarrassing loss his entire hype, and image is gone. Fucking GONE. If EliteXC folds, I don't see him being signed anywhere else. Fuck, I don't see him doing much after this anyway. Tough break :(

I think that what Kimbo can do is maybe take a long period of time to just work on his overall game. At this point, he's still just a street fighter in an MMA match. I think that if he really wants to become a great fighter (which I'm SURE he wants to be), he just has to work on improving his overall game.

I don't like Kimbo, but it's mainly because of all the hype around him. I think that with proper training for a long time, he could legit live up to his hype.

As far as Elite XC being dead goes, the more I think about it, I highly doubt this will kill Elite XC. However, it's certainly a critical hit.

  10. GLYGYBYDZ, that was quick.

I was expecting that if Seth would win, he would win by something Kimbo wasn't good at, like ground game and submission. But no, he just straight punched Kimbo in the face and then punched him on the ground so many times that Kimbo went back in time just a little bit.

Seth was a cast member of Ultimate Fighter Season 2. You KNOW Dana White has gotta be smiling about this.

  11. Two questions:

2- Is Fedor really THAT good or he is just a fighter with a decent reputation and hype machine?

He has 29 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. The loss was due to ref stoppage because he had a cut over his eye.

He's beaten Cro Cop, Coleman, Goodridge and Nogueria (3 times, I think). The majority of his fights haven't gone past the first round.

There's hype behind him, but it's justified hype...he really IS that good.

  12. Shields wins by submission. Nice.

And Brian, no MMA fan should be rooting for Petruzelli - Kimbo's pretty much the only thing keeping MMA viable on network TV, the guy who beats him needs to have better than a 50/50 shot of winning his next fight. Brett Rogers would be nice.

I assume by Network TV, you mean CBS and what not, since UFC is doing so well on Spike.

But yeah, I guess you do have a great point there, I hadn't even thought of that. Elite XC at this point really does only have Kimbo to back it, although I think that if they began showcasing more Women's MMA, they might be able to differentiate themselves a lot from UFC and get a lot of backing based on their Women's Division. But nevertheless, I guess that Kimbo winning is the best thing for MMA on Network TV, I just don't like the guy myself.

  13. So far, a good night of fighting, with the Womens match stealing the show.

And the cancellation of Shamrock is lame. But honestly, I'm not into Kimbo Slice anymore anyway. He had all kinds of hype behind him, and then when they put him against somebody just decent in the ring (James Thompson), he barely squeaks buy with a victory. The guy is just somebody with strong punches and lots of hype.

I'm rooting for Seth Petruzelli in the main. I'd love to see the hype machine get stopped right in its tracks.
