  1. Single match with some variation:

TNA has decided to unveil a new belt - the TNA Traditional Title. They will be holding a 16 man tournament for the belt, with the final being a 30 minute ironman match. Write the final of the tournament.

To give some variation, I will give you four potential final fours - each person picks one, selects two of the wrestlers to be in the finals, and writes the match (so everybody doesn't pick the same wrestlers):

CHOICE A: AJ Styles, Homicide, Sonjay Dutt, Kurt Angle

CHOICE B: Alex Shelley, Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe, Robert Roode

CHOICE C: Chris Sabin, Rhyno, Christopher Daniels, Scott Steiner

CHOICE D: Christian Cage, Petey Williams, Eric Young, Matt Morgan

  2. Welcome to the <Insert Show Name Here>
Your task is to write the debut of a new talk show in a promotion. The host will talk for a bit, introduce his first guest, talk to him, then introduce a second guest. As can be expected, it degenerates into a brawl, which is joined by a fourth party (who can join either side).

    Stipulations:
    1) One of the main people (the host, the two guests, or the late entry) must say less than 10 words total during the segment.
1a) (The Kamala Klause) This person could, however, scream all the unintelligible nonsense your heart desires.
    2) The commentators must make two references that would indicate why a brawl will soon commence - if the two people are feuding, if it seems like a setup for a tag partner to come out, etc.
    3) Something that means a lot to the host in the show's set will get destroyed in the brawl - the host needs to explain why it's so special (the more ridiculous the better, and have an over-the-top reaction when it's destroyed.

    WWE v. Indy
Suppose Vince McMahon grew a heart - one that didn't include his pocketbook. As a thanks to an independent company who has developed the most recent talent acquisition for WWE, he has agreed to send one of his talents to that company for a one-off match.

    You have to have:
    a) A news item, that might appear on 411mania or some other news site, mentioning who got signed, the gimmick/character they would be playing, and a quote from somebody in charge at that company with their opinions on the plans,
    b) Their first appearance and promo, which will be interrupted by the person they will be facing,
    c) A promo from their opponent,
    d) The one-off match between the two.

    Stipulations:
    a) No TNA.
    b) This is hypothetical, not real - so if you want to use RoH, have them sign Tyler Black or Erick Stevens, not using the past situation of CM Punk.
    c) The opponent's promo must take one shot at WWE for the way they are using the poached talent.
    d) Either during or after the one-off match, the Indy guy's next feud must be started or hinted at.

    Hardcore in it's finest hour
Think back to the 24-7 rule for the WWF Hardcore Title. Classic times - Patterson v. Briscoe in an evening gown match, Terri Runnels and Bobcat as champs, Raven winning the belt 27 times.

Your job is to recreate that chaos. For a list of who was champ when, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WWE_Hardcore_Champions .

Write a backstage segment where the champion is attacked in an unlikely place. The belt must change hands at least 5 times, and will be regained by the beginning champ at the end before he escapes. The brawl must spill into at least three rooms, and two questionable weapons (in a hardcore match, at least) will be used. Also, one non-wrestler (manager, interviewer, etc.) will attempt to win the belt, but fail.
  3. Two sets of rules - one really open ended, and one specific.

    Character and Feud Development

Disclaimer - somebody mentioned this in the last one. I don't know who, and if I'm stealing your old idea, I'm sorry - no harm intended.

Your mission is to write out the main event of a fictional company's big show. The fictional participants? Up to you. The reasons for the feud? You need to show those in the pre-match promos.

Basically, this is a test to see how well you can flesh out well-developed characters and logical, compelling feuds. You will write two pre-match promos from the participants, and then write the match. Your success depends not only how good the promos and match are, but how well you are able to convey their characters and motivations for the feud, both in the interview and the match itself.

    You must include:

    1) A brief description of the company, its level, its style, and the significance of the show - is it a national Sports Entertainment company at a transition show right after their only PPV, or is it a regional hybrid company risking their existence on a large arena show?

    2) The promos from each participant in the one-on-one match - you can include managers, interviewers, etc. You must get across their gimmick, their character, and why this match/feud is happening - did somebody spill coffee on somebody else, or is the underdog champ going against the unstoppable heel? Your choice on whether or not the title is involved.

    3) The match - again, looking to see their characters in the match itself. Again, your choice on any stipulations or gimmicks attached to the match.

Open ended, but I think some people could do a lot with this idea.

2008 King of the Ring re-do

With William Regal's suspension thanks to the wellness plan, let's see how you can do with re-doing the 2008 King of the Ring.

    You must include:

    1) A brief overview of the 4 opening round matches, and the two semi-final matches.

    2) A promo from one participant in the finals.

    3) The final match in its entirety.

    4) The next week's coronation ceremony, where the ceremony is interrupted by somebody to kick off the next feud for the king.

    Stipulations:

    1) The following people cannot be involved in any way: William Regal, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Ken Kennedy, Finlay, Hornswoggle

    2) You must include a former or current WWE or World champion in the tournament, but they cannot win.

    3) Somebody who is outweighed by at least 100 pounds must win their first round match by pinfall or submission cleanly.

3a) Said person can't be Hornswoggle.

    4) Each match must end in pinfall or submission, and only one of the prelims can have interference.

    5) In the interview, the finalist must mention three former Kings of the Ring - your choice on how to include that.

    6) At the coronation ceremony, the King will be given something special - and in usual fashion, when the ceremony is crashed, it will be destroyed or used as a weapon.

  4. - It also seems as though WWE is purposely trying to dig their own grave. Flair being snuffed immediately comes to mind, as I really doubt that would ever happen in real life. Also, "The Marine 2" would never have been made with the premise that you described, as it's obvious that it would receive the very reception that you described. It just kinda seems as though everything for TNA is suddenly going right for no reason, and everything for WWE is suddenly going wrong for no reason.
  5. A save implies that you protect the lead. You can get a save if:

    a) You enter the game with a three run lead or less in the 7th inning or later, and

    b) You protect the lead until the end of the game - the game is not tied or losing between your entrance and your exit.

    OR

    c) You pitch more than three innings with any lead, and don't give up the tying or go-ahead runs.

A blown save occurs when you enter in the first type of save situation, and give up either the tying or go-ahead runs.

    So:

Enters in 7th with 4-2 lead, team wins 4-2 = save

Enters in 7th with 6-1 lead, team wins 6-4 = no save

Enters in 8th with 3-2 lead, team wins 15-2 = save

Enters in 8th with 3-2 lead, gives up 2 runs, team wins 6-4 = blown save and win.

Enters in 6th with 10-1 lead, team wins 10-2 = save

  6. OK, now you're just making it really obvious by stealing lines directly from Othello...

IAGO: How am I then a villain

To counsel Cassio to this parallel course,

Directly to his good? Divinity of hell!

When devils will the blackest sins put on,

They do suggest at first with heavenly shows,

As I do now: for whiles this honest fool

Plies Desdemona to repair his fortunes

And she for him pleads strongly to the Moor,

I'll pour this pestilence into his ear,

    That she repeals him for her body's lust;

And by how much she strives to do him good,

She shall undo her credit with the Moor.

So will I turn her virtue into pitch,

And out of her own goodness make the net

    That shall enmesh them all.

I love the storyline, and the other dialog seemed to be more reworked and updated for the Polero-heavy audience. However, this quote just seems...off, for some reason.

  7. It's fairly realistic to begin - the only thing I don't like is how you're jobbing out Team Angle in both of their matches. In real life, they opened up with questionable finishes in singles matches against Benoit and Edge, and were threatening for the tag titles two months later - but here, together, they can't beat Benoit? I know you're trying to build to Angle/Benoit, but it seems like it's happening at the expense of Haas and Benjy.

  8. In terms of the order that they were published by Lewis, it goes:

    Lion - Caspian - Treader - Chair - Horse - Nephew - Battle

In terms of the order that things actually occur in the world of Narnia, it goes:

    Nephew - Lion - Horse - Caspian - Treader - Chair - Battle

The Magician's Nephew creates the world of Narnia - the Pevensies enter the world in the Wardrobe, and the Horse and his Boy follows the adventures of one of the children. A thousand years later, the four re-enter Narnia to help Caspian, and three years later, Edmund and Lucy (joined by a cousin, Eustance) rejoin Caspian at sea with the Dawn Treader. These are followed by the Silver Chair and the Last Battle.

I'm a fan of reading them the way Lewis released them - *SPOILERS*

If you read the Magician's Nephew, you already know about the magic in the wardrobe, the street lamp, the professor's history, etc.

  9. Two Q's:

    1) The reason you had Kendrick get a title shot was because Corino had to defend his belt every thirty days - however, after he beat Kendrick, Sting's message was "35 days" - wouldn't he have to defend the title sometime between now and then as well?

    2) So I guess, by your signature, Codekill will not win the survival match, since you say there will be TWO new NWA World Tag Team Champions. :-)
