We'd kind of assumed the opposite, it's felt all season like we were trying to avoid some kind of minute threshold to trigger the permanent. Makes the bizarre sporadic substitutions even more strange, unless Howe just thinks he's not quite ready yet.

It's definitely incredibly confusing to spend £30m, especially with all the FFP/PSR worries, for a 19 year old that the manager has trusted enough to play *checks notes* under 300 minutes in all competitions. Just seems like Newcastle could definitely spend their money a whole lot better.

  2. Kelleher has made multiple top class saves in the opening 20 minutes. He's been so amazing the past month. One of the most in form keepers in the world this past month. Just an amazing keeper. Really hope when we're over in England next month they'll be selling his kit so I can get one for the lady. She adores Kelleher.

Also, Darwin Nunez golazo! I love this man, well, probably in the same way she loves Kelleher 🤣

Fed Ex ended their stadium naming rights deal with Washington 2 years early.

If they can't land a naming rights deal with someone else, might I suggest naming their stadium `The Command Center'?

They can at least get a sponsorship with Saban if they name the stadium that!

The complaint is that the drop ball should have gone to Forest in the first place, which is absolutely correct. I'm not convinced it's a foul on Konate either but the ref certainly didn't give that, so it's definitely an error. And I haven't seen the first half thing, though I've heard Klopp mention it...

Regardless though, I go back to what I say fairly regularly, mistakes happen in football, VAR doesn't apply to wrongly given corners, throw ins, drop balls etc etc, and even aside from the near 2 minutes between restart and goal Forest had multiple opportunities to clear their lines. No sympathy whatsoever, and this Clattenburg fiasco is pathetic. What's he going to do, lean on the refs so none ever make a mistake again?

So this is not actually correct, from what my referee friend has pointed out. It's actually a drop ball to Liverpool because he was blowing the whistle/in the process of blowing the whistle when the ball was still in the box. The whistle may have been blown delayed because he was checking to see if Konate was getting back up, but the way the referee saw it was when he blew/was about to blow the whistle, the ball was still in the box, or had last been touched in the box. When that happens, it's a drop ball for the keeper.

The only thing Tierney did wrong was not blow the whistle immediately when Konate went down with a head injury, as he should have.

But you are right about the referee making an error seeing as Konate got kicked in the face, and also from a high boot!

"Nottingham Forest referee analyst Mark Clattenburg" has objected to the Liverpool winner.

Since when did clubs have their own "referee analyst"?

It's hilarious to because all the complaints I heard were that Konate faked a head injury and that Liverpool didn't give the ball back to Forest like they should have. However, 1) the exact same thing happened in the first half where the ref just had Forest take possession instead, 2) Liverpool should have had the ball anyways for a foul by Forest during the set piece, 3) Konate "faking a head injury" was after he very clearly got kicked in the face during the Forest corner.

  6. Reasons to love MLS. While most people are watching Miami vs Orlando, over in Salt Lake City for RSL v LAFc, the match was delayed in the 3rd minute because of thunder and lightning in the pouring rain. An hour later, they're back playing in heavy snow and orange ball. Pitch is covered in snow. It's phenomenal.

If we're gonna talk about decisions last night, how about VARs "Is Casemiro the offender? No? OK, move on" bollocks.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't a red card because the center ref and VAR equally were both just so happy to see someone doing this to Bruno because they can't do it themselves like they wish they could do.

    Absolutely buzzing for you @Szumi

If you want any advice in terms of getting the ground etc or ideas of places to go or things to do whilst in the city lemme know :) The place has changed massively over the last 10/15 years and I know I'm biased but I absolutely love Liverpool. So much to do

Absolutely man, thank you. I will definitely reach out when the trip gets closer. Since we have such a limited time in England, we're trying to do as much as we can Wednesday night and Thursday before the match. Very much appreciated.

  9. Very happy to report back that after hours of effort, was able to get everything scheduled how we need to still make the trip! My girlfriend got incredibly lucky that the schedule coordinator hadn't released the schedule yet, or else she would have been pretty much screwed out of getting off and either would have not gone, or would have had to wake up probably 4am UK time for us to take the first flight out of Manchester, land at JFK 1330 EST, get through customs, and have pretty much just enough time to get to the hospital for a 13 hour night shift (essentially be up for 34 hours straight outside of hopefully getting sleep on the plane/car).

Yesterday was way too freaking stressful but very, very happy to say we somehow got everything changed, and the plane company didn't even charge us to rebook our flights. We're losing a day in England which sucks, but at least we're getting to make the trip and see the match!

  10. Liverpool game got changed from Wednesday to Thursday. We had to fly back Thursday because my best friend couldn't get the whole week off and neither could my girlfriend. Now have to have a miracle of them both getting their schedules changed and getting flights changed (while being fucked there money wise because airplane companies are criminals). If we don't all go to the game, we can't get tickets through our supporters club for 3-5 years.

I want to cry and break everything. This was our nightmare scenario.

Been a lovely day thank you...bar missing my train back to Liverpool by 2 mins because we were bottlenecked outside a tube station (that was fun) but least got an off-peak return.

Thought Kelleher and the defenders in general were outstanding. Not sure why Virg's first didnt stand but least he got the winner and it wasn't another penalty shootout.

Think I enjoyed that more than the last League Cup final. Felt quite nervous upon hearing Nunez and Salah weren't fit but they all stepped up especially the kids

The explanation given was that Endo influenced the play coming back from an offsides position. He was offsides when the ball was delivered, and then essentially stood in place which blocked off Colwill from marking Virg. It's one I could see going either way most times, but totally understand why it was ruled out.

  12. Gravenbach and Endo both left Wembley on crutches and in a protective boot. Luis Diaz also looked to have injured his groin late on in extra time as well.

Wednesday FA Cup match going to have to be Academy Lads only at this rate!

  13. I don't care if people here don't like Klopp, don't like Liverpool, or any of the other condescending jabs I always hear. This was the stuff of legends. Played 7 current or former Academy players, finished with 3 teenagers on the pitch, our backup Keeper putting in a man of the match performance, and our captain scoring the game winning goal, in our manager's last season here. I absolutely love this club and am so happy we got this trophy ❤️❤️

Yellow more than enough for me, just unlucky.

Oh I for sure don't think it's a red card or anything, but one of those it's a flagrant yellow card (despite no intention by Caicedo, I know it was accidental). Somehow, though, it wasn't even a foul!

A touching reunion between Chelsea and millimetre measurements at a cup final. 🙄

Yeah I know they didn't give us an angle where you can see straight on, but that absolutely looked onsides. Think you guys were hard done by there.

Calling it justice for Caicedo injuring Gravenbach with orange card type challenge.
