Has it even been determined what's actually needed for 5th to be good enough?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68553886#:~:text=The Champions League has four,%2C Italy%2C Spain and England.

This has a good explainer. But basically it now depends on performance between English and German teams. If West Ham progress (against Freiburg) it does the world of good but still depends on future results in all three competitions. For instance if Bayern and Dortmund both made the UCL final it would likely go to Germany, same if it was Arsenal/City for England.

Apparently there's an exploit/bug where if you offer £0 upfront, six monthly £200 installments and £2.5m after 50 league appearances, the AI will accept the offer on any player.

    It works.

BBC might like a Blackburn/Newcastle match for the Alan Shearer factor.

If Blackburn do win it'll mean Newcastle will have played Blackburn in 4 of our last 10 5th round matches. Which is wild.

The last two of which we went on to play at Wembley in (final in 99, semi in 00).

Winning really does cure all the pain when you look at it from a big picture perspective.  The last decade as a Giants fan has been miserable for all but two seasons but I still can only get so mad at them.  Those Super Bowls can't be taken away.  So that team has given me by far my highest highs as a sports fan, well ahead of the Mets who gave me a couple of near-misses wrapped around a bunch of joke years, the Islanders who gave me two decent playoff runs in my lifetime, and the Knicks who are the Knicks.

Random question but as a NY sports fan is it generally Knicks, Mets, Islanders, and Giants or Yankees, Rangers, Nets, and Jets?

Or do people mix them up? Is there a geographical element?

Ive always assumed at least the Knicks, Mets and Islanders come as a package deal due to the colours.

  5. The new functionalities for selling players makes a huge difference.

I've got through 8 seasons on my beta save (no, I don't have a social life) and it's definitely a great version of the game.

I spent 5 years at PSV, won the league each year. Went to Lille, finished second and runner up in the league after they'd finished 14th the year before.

I then went to West Ham (who'd by chance also finished 14th the year before) and it turns out they'd just had a tycoon takeover. Won the league two years in a row. As a result my manager profile now has 'Known for winning league titles' which I've never seen before.

I used the Your World start so Declan Rice was still at West Ham when I got there but was demanding a move. Sold him to PSG for £60m, so big Harry Kane vibes that he left and we won the league. However, they only signed him to a one year contract so I brought him back for free in the summer!

Couple of interesting notes - Sweden won the 2028 Euros and then defeated Norway in the 2030 World Cup final, off the back of two outrageous striker regens (both of who I had at PSV).

St Johnstone had a tycoon takeover and won the SPL in 2031 after Celtic had won it every year before then.

The Carabao Cup had 7 individual winners in the first 7 years. Torino won the Conference League and then the Europa League the following season. They shit the bed in the Champion's League after that.

  6. Just seen the Bruno challenge and he should not have been left on the pitch. It wasn't just reckless, it's brazenly obvious he intends to elbow him in the head.

Havertz was also lucky to stay on the pitch. Completely out of control, studs up, contact could have ended up being a lot uglier.

    Sir Bobby Charlton has died.

I met him once when I was maybe 13. We were on a school from Belfast and went to do the tour of Old Trafford. He was in the car park as we were leaving and took the time to shake every single hand (there were 40+ of us). Always came across as a decent man.
