  1. I have a wage budget of 68,000. I'm using 56,000. I want a guy on loan, wages 3,200, but Man Utd won't let him go unless I pay 100% of his wages. The board will only allow 90%. Can I do anything?

Have you tried adjusting the budget? Maybe also try giving them a fee if you have the transfer budget.

I can only adjust the budget to raise transfer funds unfortunately. They wanted a fee of 12k which I was happy to give, do you think they'll accept the lower wage if I offer a lot more, or do you know from experience? Thanks for the help.

  2. Also, if you reply, please make yourself known the ones who negatively rate the above post. Not that it matters but I'd prefer to make a distinction between the ones that negatively rate the post based on who posted it, and the ones that have tried the game and don't like it. Because I like the game.

Obviously, I don't expect King Ellis or TheRockBox to inform me before negatively rating my post. Fair.

  3. It's not like that ChrisSteeleAteMyHamster. It did used to be, but friendly competitions don't get you money anymore. And your players don't (or ever did) improve based on how many games you play.

Basically, to be successful you need a good understanding of football. You can not know anything about the game (FM Live, not real football), give out instructions to a bunch of semi-pros, and be successful in your league. That is why I love this game. I love football, I have a deep understanding of the tactical game. Although I don't have an amazing team, stadium or youth academy, I am confident I can achieve a good place in my league because I know a lot about football.

This is why I enjoy playing this game more than FM10. My football knowledge is sick, and so I am above playing AI teams whereby the same tactic will win you whatever. Or (as most people I read on this forum do) buying all the wonderkids at the start of my 8th save game. I enjoy football and everything therein. I do not enjoy buying the best players at rock bottom prices and claiming to be brilliant. Fair.

Don't get me wrong, Football Manager is a very good game. But for those with the money, and foresight (mostly lacking from the posts we read in the FM thread) to play real football, I highly recommend this game.

  4. Why would O'Neill sign Bale when he already has 3 left backs? o_0

On that note, Nicky Shorey's loan move to Forest is set to become permanent in January.

Gareth Bale also rumoured to be a Forest target, but they won't be signing both obviously.

Another Spurs defender Michael Dawson will be leaving, Sunderland, Wigan and Forest (again) linked.

Liverpool linked with Emile Heskey again, most likely a loan move.

Craig Bellamy apparently not fancied by Mancini at City despite cracking form this season.

Arsenal linked with loads fo strikers including Carlton Cole (again), Maroune Chamakh (yet again) and Andre Gignac (We need new arsenal rumours!). Also with defenders Gary Cahill and Brede Hangeland, both of which would involve Jack Wilshire going on loan to Bolton/Fulham in exchange as part of the deal.

Jermaine Pennant after move back to England, no destination as of yet.

Did you make all of this up? Or are we talking about nonsense gossip columns?

Because if any of these go through like you say they will I'll be very surprised.

  5. reading the wiki page, concerning the US team...

3.^ - José María López will race for US F1 Team on the condition that he is able to put together an eight million-dollar sponsorship package within one week.[52] Sources close to López claim he has eighty percent of the funds he needs to secure the race seat.[53]
