  1. The Uefa executive committee have reiterated that clubs heavily in debt to banks will not be allowed to play in European competition in 2007/2008.

Although it is perhaps unlikely the ruling will have any impact on Manchester United in the wake of Malcolm Glazer's attemped takeover, their licence could be reviewed under the new guidelines.

It could mean United being told they could not compete in the UEFA Champions League, the continent's most lucrative competition.

"The idea is to make the regulations more progressive, but it will not be possible to impose a limit of say, €60 million debt across the board, because there are so many differences in the finances of all clubs in Europe," said a Uefa spokesman.

"However, if one club was permanently in debt to the banks, and the debt showed no sign of clearing or, in fact, got bigger year by year, then we would look very closely at that situation and then the licence of that club would have to be reviewed."

Glazer, who launched a £790 million bid for United on Thursday, is close to the 75 percent stake that gives him full control at Old Trafford and the ability to take the club into private ownership.

The American businessman confirmed to the Stock Exchange that he now owns almost 70 percent of the club, with more shares being bought on Friday.

Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson refused to give any lengthy response to the situation when questioned by The Scotsman.

"I always look forward, and I do so again, but we'll just have to wait and see what is going to happen," said Ferguson.

  2. In my opinion, The Fragile is what set Trent up as an artist rather then a musician for me. It was such a break from his earlier music, which, granted I like, but to be honest could easily be picked up by the angsty teenage audience who would flock to Linkin Park and Papa Roach (Dont bother launching a tirade on how much better NIN is then either of those two, Im already sold on it)

With The Fragile, he really did branch out into artistic new areas. Its like NIN's very own White Album.

  3. Napoli would be a good bet for what youre asking. Not in debt, not much of a transfer budget, and no hope of winning the league. Its also fun playing as them when you consider they were giants in Italy between 87 and 90, with Maradona their star player. A chance to bring them back to the glory days is always fun.

  4. John Bonham was a God on the drums. Then again, Led Zeppelin also had Page and Plant, two more absolute class acts.

Bonhams drum playing is the kind would make you want to play drums instead of guitar or base. Brought a certain "glamour" to a largely overlooked instrument.

  5. Bloodlines is a good game alright. Its a bit buggy in places, and doesnt make the best use of the Source engine, but the storyline is class. And there were some parts of it that genuinely had me spooked, which is never a bad thing is it?

  6. Harvey Birdman was a class show. I remember one line had me in stitches for ages. It zooms in real close while he is in the middle of a court case, he makes a heroic gesture and says "Ill have to use the POWER...OF...ATTORNEY"

Still, nothing measures up to Home Movies. That was Adult Swims greatest show.

  7. Icarus Line - Penance Soiree, Mono

    Killswitch Engage

McLusky - The Difference Between Me and You Is Im Not On Fire

Three good bands there. If you like Mars Volta/At the Drive In you should like McLusky, seeing as they are the other band spawned from At the Drive In, Mars Volta being the first.

  8. Did anyone else see that match? It was possibly one of the best rugby matches I have ever seen, and definitely one of Irelands best performances. Geordan Murphy, Shane Byrne, Ronan O'Gara and Brian O'Driscoll all played fantastic, and if they keep that up, maybe Ireland can finally contend seriously for the 6 nations, rather then a hoping against hope type thing.

If there are any rugby fans here, they should definitely watch highlights of it later on, cus it was a phenomenal match.

  9. Wasnt it just two seasons ago when Arsenal looked certain to win the title, and then had an atrocious end to their season and gifted Man Utd the title?

Nothing is for certain, especially not in the Premiership. I mean who honestly saw us losing 2 0 to Prtsmouth?

  10. I found a cool deal like that in HMV here. I ended up getting Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Platoon, Caddyshack, Dogma and Donnie Darko for 45 euros. That was pretty sweet.

If only I had known about the HMV offers before I blew nearly 200 in Virgin on DVD's. Damn me and my reckless abandon.
