  1. I'll try with an FAQ. Shouldn't be too hard, I'll try to go over the styles, famous fights, etc.

As for the event itself, it was one of the better events of the year. No fight was really born, the preliminary fights were good, and there was some good stuff. I'm happy that Brock won, but I hope Randy doesn't retire.

  2. *Welterweight Championship Bout: Georges St. Pierre © vs. Jon Fitch: TKO, Round 4

Brock Lesnar vs. Heath Herring: Unanimous Decision

Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta: Submission, Round 2

Rob Emerson vs. Manny Gamburyan: Submission, Round One

Jason MacDonald vs. Demian Maia: Submission, Round One

    PRELIMINARY CARD

Luke Cummo vs. Tamdan McCrory: Decision

Dan Evensen vs. Cheick Kongo: KO, Round Two

Joe Jones vs. Andre Gusmao: TKO, Round One

Steve Bruno vs. Chris Wilson: Decision

Ryan Thomas vs. Ben Saunders: Decision

  3. Damn, you got GSP/Penn, Mir/Nog, and Wanderlei potentially fighting on the card and you got one great card.

Good point, I have yet to get my hands on a copy of Choke, the documentary about Rickson Gracie preparing for the Japan Vale Tudo Championship. The Smashing Machine was just so damn interesting to watch because it catches Kerr right as he is about to fall from grace. It's pretty hard to watch Kerr today because he grappling skills were pretty damn good. Just a question about Japan MMA, but who owns the video library for Rings? Did PRIDE buy them out because there are some great fights from Nog, Dan, Fedor, and others.

  4. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell has been taken off of the card for UFC 85 scheduled to take place in London on June 7, MMARated.com is reporting.

The UFC has yet to issue an official statement.

Liddell had been scheduled to fight Rashad Evans. Evans is also expected to be removed from the card with the bout against Liddell likely to be re-scheduled for later in the summer.

Liddell had originally been scheduled to fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua on the card, but Evans was tapped as a replacement after Rua was forced to bow out after aggravating a knee injury.

There is no word if a replacement main event will be added to the UFC 85 lineup. A heavyweight title between Brandon Vera and Fabricio Werdum is currently the highest profile match that’s still scheduled.

According to the Wrestling Observer, the event, scheduled for the O2 Arena, has sold over 10,000 tickets, making it very unlikely that the event will be re-scheduled entirely.

It will be interesting to see if the show remains scheduled for pay-per-view, as drawing a strong buyrate could be difficult without a legitimate main event. UFC 85 will also be taking place just two weeks after UFC 84, which already an obstacle in regards to drawing a strong buyrate.

  5. Report: Fedor never signed fight contract with M-1

    By: MMAmania

    Props: Sherdog.com

    Quoteworthy:

“Despite the announcement of an agreement last October between Fedor Emelianenko and M-1 Global, the deal was never signed…. The Russian heavyweight’s only agreement with the company … came in the form of a letter of intent…. The return of a $1.5 million signing bonus paid by M-1 Global to Emelianenko is the only hurdle to the former Pride champion’s potential free agency. That should be remedied this week….”

Seriously, is it possible for this situation to get any more bizarre? It’s like a bad episode of the “Twilight Zone.”

  6. Didn't know if HDNet fights was airing the event, so thus the spoilers. As for fighter who probably wouldn't fight in the UFC because of Dana, Josh Barnett is the biggest one. Barnett because he was stripped of the title and released after a positive steriod test. Barnett is interested in coming back but Dana will have none of that.

  7. Ikuhisa Minowa defeats Bum Chan Kang via submission (kneebar)

Hayato “Mach” Sakurai defeats Hidetaka Monma via technical knockout (strikes)

Joachim Hansen defeats Kotetsu Boku via unanimous decision Luiz Firmino defeats Kazuyuki Miyata via submission (rear naked choke)

Mitsuhiro Ishida defeats Bu Kyung Jung via unanimous decision

Mirko Filipovic defeats Tatsuya Mizuno via technical knockout (strikes)

Eddie Alvarez defeats Andre “Dida” Amade via technical knockout (strikes)

Tatsuya Kawajiri defeats Kultar “Black Mamba” Gill via unanimous decision

Gesias Calvancante vs. Shinya Aoki ruled a no contest

JZ/Aoki ruled a NC after JZ accidently hit Aoki in the neck a few times.

In May, the last twelve PRIDE events will be released, starting with Shockwave 2006. For those who don't remember, the event has Fedor/Hunt and Barnett/Nogueria II.

  8. WEC: Paulo Filho out against Chael Sonnen on March 26 because of substance abuse problem

    By: MMAmania

He did. He didn’t. He did.

WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho has indeed officially opted to postpone his 185-pound title fight against Chael Sonnen scheduled for March 26 because of a substance abuse problem, according to WEC.tv.

No date for the rematch was disclosed.

Here’s a snip from his manager, Ed Soares:

“This is horrible news, but we’re proud of him for stepping up and recognizing his problem. At times like this you realize who your true friends are and who really supports you, and the people around him now are supporting him and are gonna be with him when he comes back. Paulo apologizes to his fans but he thanks them for their support and he promised that the next time they see him, he’ll be back at 100 percent and will be the Paulo Filho everyone expects to see.”

    Get well soon, Paulo.

The WEC light heavyweight title bout between Doug Marshall and Brian Stann is now the main event.

  9. Cage Rage 25 Results

1 John Phillips defeats Jake Bostwick: TKO (Strikes)

2 John Hathaway deafeats Marvin Arnold: TKO (Strikes)

3 Giorgio Andrews defeats Ryan Shamrock TKO (Doctor Stoppage - Broken Hand)

4 Aisling Daly defeats Aysen Berik: TKO (Strikes)

5 Henrique Santana defeats Michael Johnson: Decision (Unanimous)

6 Ivan Serati defeats Roman Webber TKO (Strikes)

7 Mustapha al Turk defeats Gary Turner Submission (Strikes)

8 Tom Watson defeats Pierre Guillet TKO (Strikes)

9 Rob Broughton defeats Neil Grove Decision (Majority)

10 Masakazu Imanari defeats Jean Silva Submission (Heel Hook)

11 Robert "Buzz" Berry defeats Ken Shamrock KO

Apparently Shamrock tried to stand and not take Berry to the ground at all, and pretty much got KTFO'd. Since Kimbo/Shamrock is off, who should Kimbo face at the first Elite:XC CBS event? I'd love to see somebody like Mark Hunt or Rizzo step up and fight him. Knowing Elite:XC, they're probably throw Ricco or Cabbage at him.

EDIT: Event will air on Showtime after SHOWTIME Boxing if anybody is interested.

  10. ESPN “The Magazine” of all places is running a report that Fedor Emelianenko — considered among many as the top heavyweight fighter in mixed martial arts — will be a free agent again within the next week and will entertain offers from the UFC.

Here’s a snip from the Russian’s long-time manager, Apy Echteld:

“Officially, yes, Fedor will be a free agent…. We’re open to a discussion [with UFC]. If everybody is willing to put a little wine in the water, then we have something to work with. There is space for this to happen.”

Emelianenko opted to sign with the newly-formed M-1 promotion in late 2007 instead of competing inside the Octagon. That decision prompted UFC Heavyweight Champion, Randy Couture, to fax in his resignation from a South African movie set.

“The Natural” indicated — and still does — that the only fighter left to prove himself against is the Pride FC heavyweight champion. He’s currently in the midst of an intense legal battle with the UFC about his decision and actions ever since.

Here’s a snip from UFC President Dana White:

“People think he’s the best — I don’t, not even close. But if it’s somehow possible, I would make it happen…. I like Randy, I genuinely like to think he’s a good guy. As much as we’ve gone back and forth on this, I would sign Fedor and do everything possible to get Randy in the Octagon with him. I’d do anything, because a., it’s a great fight and b., I think Randy would smash Fedor.”

M-1 has yet to stage a show and there’s talk that infighting between the Russian side of the operation and the American side has hindered its progress. Emelianenko, however, was loaned out to fight Hong Man Choi at the Yarennoka! Japan event this past New Year’s Eve, winning via submission (armbar) in round one.

This is the latest bizarre development in perhaps the most bizarre MMA storyline of all time. The storybook ending, after all that has transpired, would be a showdown between Couture and Emelianenko under the UFC banner.

But can the fight, if it ever happens, even come close to living up to the lofty expectations?

We may never know … or will we? There’s apparently no end in sight for this rollercoaster ride. Or is there?

Anything seems possible at this point.

    - The always controversial Tito Ortiz will be apart of "Anytown Throwdown" for the G4 network. It's apparently a show in which Ortiz trains people who want to settle their differences in the cage. Ortiz will train them to fight, and the show will go all over the US. Source: MMAjunkie

-Kevin Randleman has sign a contract with World Victory Road and will be fighting on May 18th. Randleman is then slated to headline a Global Fighting Championship show against Jeff Monson. Pretty impressive considering that Randleman had a brutal staff infection that could've killed him if he didn't get treatment. Source: MMA Mania

-The June 1st show for WEC just got bigger, as two titles will be defended. Paulo Fihlo will defend his WEC Middlewight Championship against Chael Sonnen, originally scheduled for March. Fihlo claimed that he suffured from depression when the match was made, and would not be up for training for the fight. Fihlo and Sonnen met in a controversial bout that saw Fihlo defeat Sonnen with an armbar after the ref thought that Sonnen had verbally submitted. The event will be most likely headlined by a 145-pound title fight between Urijah Faber and Jens Pulver. Source: MMA Mania

-The first YAMMA Pit Fighting show will take place on April 11th at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J. The event will occur on April 11th and willbe aired on PPV at 10:00 and cost $34.95. The event will have an eight-man Heavyweight tournament and two "Masters Superfights" between Don Frye/Oleg Taktarov and Gary Goodridge/Eric "Butterbean" Esch. The company is owned by Bob Meyrowitz, the man who created the UFC. Source: MMAjunkie

If you can ever find it at a good price, I strongly recommend that any MMA fan pick up the Bas Rutten career DVD. Three discs of his Pancrase fights with highlights of his UFC fights, and the commentary by Bas is excellent. It sucks that most new MMA fans never got to see Bas fight in his prime.

  13. Some more stuff I got from my friends in Chicago. I talked to them and they were clearing some things up for me. They were only willing to tell me a few things, and that was all. Nothing more on The Joker, or a trial scene.

    Dent's Scarring

It will apparently be the same way he was scarred in The Long Halloween by Sal Moroni (Eric Roberts). They will use the antacid (sp?) bottle as they did in The Long Halloween.

    AMH's role

All that we know is two things: Hall stated in an interview that he will be playing a good guy. The second thing is that Hall is rumored to have a good chunk of his scenes with Lucious Fox. If anything, he will be Batman's new tech guy, and Freeman probably won't be in the third. Somebody did spot some clothing with the "Edward Nygma" as a label.

    The Dance scene

It is a homage to the original film, and Dawes struggles to get away. It's a really physical scene, with the Joker pulling her back in. Apparently, it's a really creepy scene in the movie.
  14. Wizard World Report:

Minutes ago, the capacity crowd at Wizard World Chicago was treated to the first look at "The Dark Knight" the much anticipated sequel to fan favorite "Batman Begins." With actors Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Aaron Eckhart on hand along with Nolan and screenwriters Jonah Nolan and David Goyer, DC Publisher Paul Levitz led the crowd through a spirited and secretive Q&A before getting to a sneak peek at the Dark Knight's most recent on-screen battle with his arch nemesis, The Joker.

Fans were only allowed to see it once, and while it might be some time before the footage will be released to theaters across America, Wizard Universe was on hand to witness the action and give a full report.

The footage started with a silhouette of a dark figure in front of one of Batman’s armored vehicles before quickly cutting to Bruce Wayne and Alfred delivering the brief lines heard in the "Dark Knight" teaser trailer.

"Some people just want to watch the world burn," advises Alfred before the camera jumps to Batman in action on the Batpod, the new iteration of his motorcycle.

The action built up as the Joker was seen in full for the first time with a mess of white face, smeared red lipstick and sweaty, straggly green hair. Apparently, the clown prince of crime gets arrested at one point in the film, as the montage presented Jim Gordon (complete in SWAT gear) at the Joker’s booking, saying, "no prints, no ID, custom clothes, no tags." The clown smiles with what appears to be blood over his face from the inside of an interrogation room.

Checking back in with Bruce Wayne, the billionaire playboy has a brief scene with Eckhart's Harvey Dent where he says "Rachel's told me everything about you."

"I truly hope not," responds Wayne.

The footage sped up at that point into an intense montage of action, featuring the following clips:

    - The new batsuit rising up from a trap door in the ground and held in a chain metal case.

    - Rachel Dawes (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal) close to an unidentified man either kissing him or being threatened by him as the camera rotates around them.

    - A struggling Rachel Dawes being forced to dance with The Joker.

    - The Joker and Batman battling in close quarters (possibly a hospital room). Batman throws Joker over a table and crashing into the ground while the clown smiles at him. It should be noted that the Joker was done up in his signature purple suit.

    - Plenty of big, bold Batmobile action including a shot where the tank-like car drives through a wall of flame. In fact, flames were pretty much everywhere in the footage as it appears Joker does actually make the world burn.

    - There is also a shot of a somewhat grim-faced Joker walking across a city street mercilessly firing a machine gun as well as a television close-up of the Joker laughing hysterically.

    - Two major additions to the speculation that Two Face will appear in the film came in the form of a single shot of a spinning 50 cent piece and the final image: after the action montage has slowed down, the camera cuts to a bartender looking at Harvey Dent, whose only onscreen presence is his left shoulder and a bit of a reddish-purple scarred neck. "Dent! I thought you were dead!" the man gasps, to which Harvey replies, "Half."

    Notes from the event.

-Eckhart had the crowd in a ruckus apparently when he covered half his face with one hand as he entered the panel room.

-Goyer got the card put in at the end of Begins as a hook, Nolan was somewhat against it.

-Everybody in the panel had rave reviews for Ledger as The Joker. Oldman was quoted that "He came up with his own distinctive style for the film."

-The Two-Face make-up is being kept under wraps. Nolan and company want people to be shocked at the make-up

-No word on Anthony Michael Hall's role, they are keeping is very confidential.

-Security wasn't as tight as rumored. Numerous people got away with cell phones recording the footage. They did have people with night-vision goggles during the footage to make sure nobody was recording.

-Eckhart stayed for twenty minutes after the panel and signed autographs, DVD's.

-New viral site will be up in September, no word on what it will be.

  15. Halloween

    10/10

One of my favorite horror films of all time and still manages to scare me. The score is great, and Carpenter showed why he still may be the best in the business. I've been catching up on the Master's of Horror stuff with Carpernter, and he can still scare me.

    Halloween 6: Producers Cut

    7/10

I downloaded this off a torrent site, and it's a helluva lot better than the original cut. It doesn't live up to the original one, but it's still a decent horror film. Pleasance does a good job as Loomis, and Paul Rudd is pretty damn good considering the script was re-done twelve times. Some of the gore from the original cut was left out, but some of it wasn't needed. The Halloween series was more about suspense and tension than the gore.

  16. Every time I try a Royal Rumble match, I get the screen with everybody in the match, then the WWE logo flying by. Then, all I get is a black screen for about five minutes, then I try to restart. It does the same thing all over again. Any help or suggestions?

  17. Try this for Jake, I'm going to:

Once you unlock a legend you go to the free agents page, press start I believe, then it will take you to a page where you can turn them "on" for the mode. Then you can get them as free agents. Thank god too, before I got Hogan and Bret Hart the other GM was kicking my ass. It could work, I don't know.

  18. It has acradey elements to it, but it is fucking fun as hell. It's fun and fast, and if you liked Playmakes: you'll fucking love this game. LT is awesome, and the off-the-field stuff is cool. I bet all my money on me to lose and I got blown out 48-10 to Cinni. The IGN review proves that they only like games with the NFL label, and proves they are morons.
