  1. In many... many ways. Well, I'm convinced. Glad to have helped!
  2. "Hey self, is it your experience that WrestleZone has a thorough team of fact-checkers and strong regard for journalistic integrity and ultimate truth?" "Nope." :/ Well, it's not for me to tell you who you can trust but I've never heard anyone doubt the credibility of Power Slam magazine and they are covering us too. Doubters gonna doubt, haters gonna hate!
  3. Nah, it's a parody which is all legal. Just like how Rob Van Dam isn't breeching Jean Claud Van Dam, Gillberg wasn't breeching Goldberg, Sting wasn't breeching The Crow or more recently The Joker, etc. We are very upfront that we aren't putting out a licensed game and that we are parodying the industry on a whole. These are new characters and we don't want anyone to confuse them with the real thing. Those that still don't think it's going to be a game, ask yourself if we'd be getting coverage on sites like Wrestlezone and WrestlingNewsSource or magazines like Power Slam and gaming websites like nxus and 411mania if we weren't the real deal. We'll be out fairly soon and I hope you all enjoy it.
  4. You can stand your iPhone on an arcade cabinet if that helps. Hell it wouldn't surprise me if the next iPhone lets you send your phones image, straight to Apple TV. So if you put Apple TV in your arcade cabinet you will totally be able to play it. Now I just gotta figure out how to get the money from the coin-op.... Don't even need to do that, Sousa can eat his words with this. http://www.thinkgeek...ro-gaming/e762/ Aww yeah. I'm soooooo about to order that! AMAZING!!!
  5. Yes, we are trying to doing something cool with that too. Every wrestling fan knows about the Monday Night Wars where WCW beat WWE in the TV Ratings on weekly basis. Well instead of publishing out "top scores" to Game Center we are AIMING to just publish your average TV show over the last month of events that you have run. That way we can see who has the best ratings and who really does have the best show in wrestling. We have some basic Game Center parts already implemented so we just need to double check that we can actually do that but I don't see there being any problems with it. Then on top of that we are looking at what achievements we can add that are fun.

  7. The auction part is one of my favourite aspects of the game. It was also one of the most challenging parts to make because we have a lot of info to show the player but not much room to show it.
  8. I just noticed that the thread has been moved to a Coin Op arcade section. To avoid confusion, I should say that it's not a Coin-op and there's nothing arcady about it.
  9. In 2008 I designed an extensive feature set for the Smackdown series that among other things allowed players to create stories using a system similar to the early GM Modes. The player would then upload his story (along with the rest of his creations) to a server so that others could download and play with his creations. In 2009, I expanded upon those basic features with a huge design document detailing features such as multiple path creation for the stories, Create A Match features and I talked in detail about how we could make it so that the goings on in story mode would actually impact the players whole game. Essentially bringing story mode, to exhibition. In Smackdown vs Raw 2010 - Design a Story, Community Creations and several other features from my original designs were implemented into the series, then in Smackdown vs Raw 2011 players could create multiple paths in their stories and WWE Universe mode was launched. Essentially giving exhibition mode a story. How close to the original designs were the implementation you ask? Here's 1 of dozens of examples I could show you. http://www.box.net/s...tue4fjqoxumv62d Granted the final implementation was a tiny bit watered down compared to my design but that's understandable because even THQ have a budget. (well that and they like to sell sequels) Thanks. I've moved countries to make this happen. Hopefully that gives you an idea of the commitment I have to this project. EDITED FOR SPELLING: -
  10. I'm not sure our development team would agree with you. The game is almost complete, I'm playing it as I type this. I've just put one of my wrestlers up on the auction and I'm about to make my Wrestlezania card. Thank you for your kind words. I can't confirm when or if a playable game demo will be out but I can say that there will be video's showing how easy it is to use the interface. That name might just make the game lol. Thanks you. We have spent quite a bit of time streamlining the game but we have been careful not to dumb it down at the same time. Essentially you can pop in, run an event and pop out inside a minute if you want to. Or you can take your time and tweak a lot of things. For example, there's an automate event button so if you really wanted you could launch an event in 3 clicks. Or there's an auto select feature inside the match, so you could pick the match type and the number of players in the match but if you don't want to go to the hassle of pairing everyone up, you can press auto and it will pick the wrestlers for you. Obviously these matches aren't going to be as good as you could make them if you take your time but odds are you would only need to tweak them slightly. Or you can pick every minor detail and if Kayfabe mode is turned off you can even pick the winner of the matches and how they won (DQ/Pinfall/etc). Oh and you can close the app and resume any time you want but beware, the auction is a live game auction and it will tick even if your phone is turned off. So if you have your eye on someone, you better make a bid you think you will win with. We aren't Adam's opposition. His product is for the PC and we hope you continue to play that. Our product is for your phone and there's no reason you can't enjoy both. They have a very different style of gameplay. In fact, I'd love to hear from Adam and get his thoughts on our product so... if you are reading this please get in touch. Thank's, I hope you end up loving it as much as we do. As for the haters, well - if they have been let down so many times before, I can understand their reluctancy to believe me but hopefully when the game comes out - they will give it a try. I have to say, I don't think this will sell huge amounts of copies, I just think it's a cool game that proves we know how to make a good wrestling game. Take care people.
  11. The game was heavily inspired by Ultimate Team and has a somewhat similar play style but with a Game Dev Story type twist. So in Game Dev Story, you create and launch games in order to earn more money so you create bigger and better games and then you move into a bigger and better office and create consoles. All the while you are improving your roster of game developers. In Wrestling Manager, you create and launch wrestling events in order to earn more money so you can create bigger and better wrestling events which will appear on TV or PPV. You move into bigger arena's and sell different kinds of merchandise all the while improving your talent roster. We added a plenty of depth to that formula. For example there are two ways to upgrade your roster in Game Dev Story, you can either spend experience points or you can advertise for staff and buy them. Well, in Wrestling Manager your roster can improve in different ways. For example, you can give your wrestler a push by having him win lots of matches against guys with a higher wrestling ability than him and his wrestling ability will grow, or you can use your character in a storyline and if you meet all the challenges of the story line his popularity will grow likewise if you make him a champion his popularity will grow, if you give him lots of promo's his Mic Skills will rise but those are just a few of the ways you can boost your roster. Another way is to enter the real time auction system and bid on Talent in the same way that you can in Ultimate Team. If spending time in the auction isn't your thing, you can hire talent scouts to evaluate the auction and depending on how good they are, depends on how big the diamond in the rough is. The will present you with a list of people they think you should bid on. A different option is to pick up Development Territories (DT) or to merge with other wrestling Organisations. When you buy a DT you gain access to any arena's they might have used, any talent scouts, wrestlers, medics, referee's, etc. These are similar to buying packs in FIFA's Ultimate Team so there's an element of randomness but we always try to give you something beneficial. Merging with a pre-existing Organisation is similar to picking up a DT but it tends to be on a much larger scale. As you can imagine if you wanted to merge with the WWE in life you would need considerable finances to do that but in return for that cash, you would be getting access to a company with a huge roster of superstars, a weekly Live TV broadcast, several Taped for TV shows and a world wide marketing and distribution team for your merchandise, a PPV network deal and a very profitable company. Well, you can expect the same kind of things when you merge with a major Organisation in our game. So as you can see, there's depth to the simplicity. You will be able to edit the name and picture on all of the talent, arena and company cards. Not the stats though. As for skinning the colour scheme, we might patch that in down the line but it's unlikely to make the initial release. (not ruling it out) Yes the game will have a price tag, we haven't fully decided what that will be yet but I can assure you that it will be worth it. As a company we have invested a ton of cash into this game and as many have expressed in this thread, the number of wrestling fans, willing to play a managers game who have an iOS device isn't huge so we are relying on those folks to support us in order for us to keep supporting the game with added features and content.
  12. Like I said before, if we see a semi polished finished product I'll give him credit. But when the website is claiming that the "game is close to finish" while also apologizing that the game is not already out like he presumably had said earlier would happen. For the heck of it I Googled this "Red Radiant Media" company that is supposedly working with him and their twitter, Facebook and website have next to nothing on them. They are a spin out from Real Time Worlds and they have been involved with some BAFTA projects.
  13. I've already said, if someone wants to come along to Dundee, we are more than happy to let them test it out.
  14. Put it this way, I was in Atlanta when they made The Rock vs Cena and I wasn't there to meet with the WWE.
  15. Cross platform is very expensive to do and each platform has it's own strengths and weaknesses. If we were a big company like THQ, we could have covered all of those costs but for now, we have to walk before we can run. The iOS market has over 200m users and over 50m are logged into Game Center (which is Apples version of xbox live). I'm not saying we will hit huge numbers because I don't think we will but in a market of 50m gamers there has to be some wrestling fans right? Sure some play Bubble Bobble but quite a few bought Game Dev Story too and that's a very similar game to Wrestling Manager. Likewise Football Manager is one of the highest grossing apps on the iPhone so the markets not all doom and gloom but either way, we couldn't change platform now the games nearly done. So all we can hope for is peoples support.
  16. 1) We had an article up with WWEDVDNEWS.com a while back, Shaun Blackford, the review guy there has seen it and we did a Q/A with WrestlingAttitude.com the other day. Granted, that's not a lot but we are still several weeks away from submitting to Apple (which can take several weeks) 2) Quite true. But then again, if I had released a video with the game working, because it's a management game you could have said I faked it. 3) Yes, we were daft enough to announce that the game would be out in summer. Some things took a little longer than we originally expected, somethings needed tweaking because even though they looked fine on paper, when they were implemented they weren't as fun as they could have been, so we tweaked them and tweaking takes time. We are not giving out a release date right now because we don't want to make that mistake again. The game will be out when it's fully cooked and all I can say is that will be soon. 4) All I'm saying about the console game right now is that it's a wrestling game and it's not a version of Wrestling Manager.
  17. BTW, it was a serious off. If someone from here would like to visit us and check out the game email dan@serious-parody.com
  18. It would. And to be fair i'm glad you've said the feature is available. Problem is only a certain amount of people own an iPod touch (i dont but my GF does), and only a small handful of those people use it as a proper gaming device, and out of that small handful of iPod gamers will you find few, very few, who will be interested in the game anyway. With regards to phones some of us use them only for calls and texts. Real world iPod/phone gamers play games like Bubble Bobble or something while traveling, or during work breaks. Some may be dedicated to the game (and I feel a game like this deserves the dedication of its player) but overall i'm not sure the platform could ever really be the right choice for this sort of the game. I know you have plans to expand but unless you bring in (in your own words) 50% of your financial investment you won't even try to put it on other platforms. Well, that right there is cutting your nose off to spite your face. Cross platform should be your #1 priority in my opinion. Regardless. It's not that we won't try, it's that we won't be able to try for quite a while because we won't be able to afford it. Our company finances are currently tied up in 2 games right now. Wrestling Manager and a console game. The console game won't be out for another year so we won't see any income from that for quite a while. If we don't make enough money back from Wrestling Manager, then we won't be able to port it to other devices until we make some money back on the console game. As for the amount of wrestling fans who own an iPhone/iPod/iPad and will play a wrestling management game. - I agree that there probably aren't too many of us out there but I think there will be enough for us to make half the investment back. We are willing to take a loss on this game because we want to build a reputation among the hardcore wrestling game fans as a company who make good wrestling games, so that when we release the console title, we will have your support.
  19. Wrestling Manager is in production in Dundee Scotland. If you would like to come and take it for a test drive, we'd be more than happy to book you in and we'd take your feedback on board. There's not a lot I can do about the people who have let you all down in the past. So if you are too jaded to believe there is a new game coming, even when I'm showing screen shots and we've had interviews with some of the wrestling media - well that's fine. When the game is released, hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised. For the time being though, we are trying to raise awareness of the game and we are offering people a chance to give us their thoughts on what stats each wrestler should have for the final build. The reason I'm posting in here, is because somebody made a thread about our game and I'm extremely grateful to that person so I thought it would be a good idea to come chat with you guys because believe it or not, we are making this game for hardcore wrestling game fans like you.
  20. Hi, We have a system that lets you plan all of your future wrestling events in advance and likewise you can look back at the events you did in the past. As for the fairly large text document you referred to. That made me chuckle a little because I'm exactly the same as you. I tend to have pieces of paper for planning and spreadsheets/notepad open. We did look at the idea of building a note taking feature right into the game but to be honest we decided to prioritise other features first because every iPhone comes with a 'Notes' application and all you have to do to switch to 'Notes' from within the game is double tap the main button on the front of the iPhone, then tap Notes. To get back to the game you just double click the button again and tap Wrestling Manager and you are right back to where you were. Does that seem like an adequate solution to your problem?
  21. I don't want to get into a debate over which game is "better". People that haven't played both games can't really make an informed decision just yet. If you play both games and still think EWR is better, that's absolutely fine with me, let us know what we can do to improve and we'll do our best. Adam started making the franchise 16 years ago so he's had a long time to tweak and improve things. All I ask is that you wait until you try it before you decide which game you enjoy the most. After all, Wrestling Manager isn't trying to compete with EWR. It's on a completely different platform, it's designed differently and it's just a good game that EWR fans will hopefully really enjoy.
  22. I'm sorry you feel that way. I really am. Like I said, we can't please everyone and there's a lot of people that would like a Wrestling Management game on their mobile phone (I'm one of them) and we've designed it to be a good mobile phone game because you can either play it for hours on end or you can drop in and out for a few minutes. Let's say you're at work but you have a minute spare, you can pull out your phone, check on the auction, maybe make a bid on a dvd library that you are trying to acquire. Then pop the phone back in your pocket and check back later to see if you're still the leading bid. Or lets say you are in the dentist waiting area, you've got 5 minutes so you whip out your phone and play a couple of events. Or maybe you are on a long train/plane journey you don't have your PC with you but you've always got your phone. As for releasing on consoles. We have a console game in production but we aren't talking much about it yet.
  23. If someone showed you screenshots of EWR before you played it would you honestly not think it looked boring at first? I dont know anything bout this Wrestling Manager game but i'll give it try when it first comes out Awesome! Thanks for your support.
  24. You will get to eventually, just not at the initial launch of the game. Maybe you could borrow someone's iPod touch? We can't afford to make the game for every platform right away. If we could afford that, we would.
