Mercenary - Lost Reality
That's all I'm nominating since, IMO, nothing can top it.

Anyone else got the new Vital Remains album yet? It's decent, although the vocals are pretty poor. Nowhere near as good as Dechristianize but still worth checking out if you haven't already.
-
Yeah I'm goin to the Glasgow show. Got the tickets of his website so I'm guessing they'll be good seats.

Hey, I've been listening to a lot of different music than I normally would recently and I was just wondering if you guys could recommend some bands or songs. I'm a metal fan but I've been listening to a weird mix of stuff lately like Crash Test Dummies, Counting Crows, Ray Charles, The Lighthouse Family, etc... I'm basically just looking for anything like that. Also, I know there are a lot of metal fans on the board...could you guys suggest some good acoustic stuff for me to check out (I'm talking like Zakk Wylde - Book of Shadows kinda acoustic, heh). Your help would be much appreciated (Y)

A few of my mates went to see him a good while back. They said he was good but I don't really like him much.
On a similar note, I'm goin to see Ross Noble in September Can't wait. Bill Bailey in November as well!

Sorry, I know this topic is over a week old, but you're all wrong...

I just finished my 3rd season with Greenock Morton. Everything's been going well but I seem to be losing money somehow, even though I am £13k under my wage budget. I can't even think about selling any players, cause I'm gonna be fighting for promotion next season and all the other clubs in the league are the only teams interested in any of my players. Anyway, here's how my seasons have went...
1st Season - Scottish 2nd Division - Finished top, 7 points ahead of Raith Rovers (who also got promoted through the playoffs). My record was 28-5-3 (W-D-L) which was good I guess but it coulda been better. Sold Ryan Harding and Dean Keenan, brought in Paul McGowan on a permanent deal (he started on loan), Bobby Linn, Neil Cutler and Scott McCulloch (great at free kicks).
2nd Season - Scottish 1st Division - Finished 5th, 8 points behind Partick Thistle who won the league. Record was 15-8-13 (which is shocking really). Sold Bobby Linn, Kevin Finlayson, David McGarrigle and Stefan Gonet...brought in Lee Robinson, Neil McCann, John Armstrong, Scott Davies, Alex Rae (who became a coach at the end of the season) and Marc Nygaard (best signing to date apart from Jamie Mole, but he was on loan).
3rd Season - Scottish 1st Division - Finished 2nd, 10 points behind Gretna. Nothing I could do as Gretna decided to splash their cash and buy some of the better players in the game. Record was marginally better this season at 20-8-8. Sold Derek Lilley, Neil McCann and Ryan Russell, bought Paul Walker, Mark Millar and Frederic Daquin.
Next season is gonna be tough with Motherwell, Dunfermline and St.Johnstone all chasing promotion. The other teams shouldn't be a problem for me.

117...There are a lot that I'm finding difficult putting names to faces.

The 2nd album is the best. Can't remember its name. It's got "My Last Serenade" on though. Which is a truly badass song.
Alive Or Just Breathing.
I went off them when Howard joined. He's got a good voice but it doesn't fit to the music as well as Jesse's did IMO. Howard's voice sounds almost identical to Efrem from Death By Stereo.

'Scenic World' by Beirut is a rip off of the theme music from Question of Sport, no BS.

Testament - Return To Serenity
Metallica - The Four Horsemen
Iced Earth - When The Eagle Cries
That's all I got just now...
-
So, anyone being watching Series 4 of this? I thought Episode 1 was above average, but not classic Peep Show, while the next two have been back at it's brilliant best.

Updated line-up in the first post...Nevermore added to the Friday!
-
The opening riff to Lamb of God - Laid To Rest is far too similar to the opening riff of Testament's "Into The Pit" for my liking.

At the Gates is bad imo

I think there's about 6/7 bands playing Download that I like so I'm not gonna bother wasting my cash on that. Instead, I'm gonna pay about half as much and go see this line-up at BOA...

Testament will be getting a 2 hour set (or so I've heard) so that's enough reason for me to go...but Epica, Arch Enemy, Benediction, Dream Evil and In Flames is enough reason for me to stay the weekend. Still a lot more announcements to come and it's already looking better than Download.

Who the fuck are Wolfmother and how many cocks did they suck to get higher on the bill than Megadeth?!
-
Buckethead - The Elephant Man's Alarmclock
As far as solo guitarists go, Buckethead has to be my favorite (and I only started properly listening to him last week). This is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time!
Key Tracks - "Final Wars", "Lurker At The Threshold" (all 4 parts), "Gigan"
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
I'm not exactly what you'd call a rap fan, but I've had this album for years and never really gave it a proper listen. I decided to give it a bash and actually quite enjoyed it.
Key Tracks - "Kill You", "Marshall Mathers", "Bitch Please II", "Kim"
Nightrage - A New Disease Is Born
Quite different from their last 2 efforts but still a great album. More melodic parts and clean singing on this album, but the new vocalist makes it work for them.
Key Tracks - "Spiral", "Reconcile", "Scars of the Past", "Scathing", "Drone", "A New Disease Is Born (Instrumental)"

Iced Earth -- 8/10
Hammerfall -- 6/10 (Not heard much of them, only 2 or 3 songs)
Nevermore -- 8/10
Symphony X -- N/A (Haven't heard anything tbh)
Wintersun -- 7/10
Kamelot -- 9/10
Ensiferum -- 7/10
Edguy -- 10/10 (Love 'em. Went to Bloodstock in 05 just to see them and passed out from over-indulging in beer and dope just before they came on. Luckily they played in Glasgow last year though and were fucking awesome. As far as recommendations go, get Hellfire Club...seriously awesome album)
Dream Theater -- 7/10 (Good band, just haven't heard enough of their stuff)
DragonForce -- 2/10 (Overrated as fuck. Almost every song sounds the same and they are quite honestly the most boring band I've had the misfortune of seeing twice)
Down -- 8/10
Blind Guardian -- 7/10
3 Inches of Blood -- 1/10
In Flames -- 9/10 (Mostly due to older material. Not a fan of the last 2 or 3 albums)
Suidakra -- 9/10 (Last album was dire, but everything else is top notch. Used to be one of my favorites but sorta just went off them.)
Necrophagist -- 3/10 (Not my thing)
Other bands/artists I'd recommend...
At The Gates
Kataklysm
Nightrage
Buckethead
Masterplan
Dark Tranquillity
EDIT: Can't believe I forgot...add Mercenary to that list of recomendations.

There's a cool program I used to use...think it was called Acoustibeat. Don't remember where I got it but I'm sure it won't be hard to find.

My personal top 10 with all four CD's included would look something like this, probably:
1. Journey Man
2. Kädet Siipinä
3. Happy Little Boozer
4. Ryyppäjäiset
5. Veriset Äpärät
6. Rise
7. Pixies Dance
8. Karhunkaatolaulu
9. Väkirauta
10. Kirki
If it ever becomes possible, check them out live. I guarantee that the energy and atmosphere will not be easily forgotten.
