  1. March 9th? Thank christ for that. When I heard it was going to be released next Spring, I was afraid that would mean somewhere near the back end of May. Luckily, it's close enough to my birthday to pretty much guarantee a pre-order.

...and on a completely unrelated note, Ozma is still as big a cunt to beat as I remember from the last time I tried. <_<

  2. Well yeah, I'd been lead to believe that Zodiark was stupidly hard to beat but the only problem I had was when he was down to literally his last few hit points and kept switching between his physical and magical shields before I could land the killing blow. <_<

I would definitely agree that Omega is harder than Yiazmat, when I went into the fight I didn't expect his laser to hit me that quickly. Even worse when he got down to critical health and the damage jumped from 5000 to around 8000 every fucking second. But now he's dead and I can finally go kick Vayne's ass one last time before deciding which game to go back to next...probably IX.

  3. The characterization is somewhat bland (seriously, Balthier, Ashe and Basch are the only ones worth really giving a crap about. Vaan, Penelo and Fran are borderline useless), and the story itself is eerily reminscent of Star Wars, but for me, it's a damn good game.

I don't know why people seem to have a problem with Fran and Penelo. Granted they're far less important to the story than Basch, Balthier, and Ashe, but there's very little difference when using them in the party. Vann on the other hand...well he can just go die in a fire with his 'I'm not the main protagonist, but dammit you're gonna control me throughout the game' crap. Once I got access to at least four party members, Vaan never saw action again...which is why everyone is level 85+ and he's only level 17 :shifty:

But there is so much grind in that game!

Having finally finished gathering loot and buying the Tournesol no more than five minutes ago, I can concur to this a thousand times over.

Okay I'm looking to jump into a FF game again, in front of me I have I, II, III, VI, VII, IX and XII.

I, VII and IX are the only ones I have completed (I was recently aswell). III is on my DS which I don't actually know the location of, so that leaves II, VI, VII, IX or XII to choose from really.

What do you guys suggest, and why?

I agree with Sousa and suggest you play VI, especially seeing as you mentioned you've already completed VII. Definitely up there with VII as the best in the series, and despite having completed it five times I've yet to get bored of it. I mean what's better than getting Mog on your team and turning him into a badass dragoon that can destroy pretty much anything? Nothing, that's what. Oh, and Dancing Mad is one of the best songs from any FF game, period.

  4. I'm pretty much in the same boat as Apsham. Not too long ago I would have considered myself a Sony diehard, and never would have dreamed of getting anything other than a PS3 when it came to the next gen systems. But some of the mind boggling stuff I read about the PS3 made me more and more aprehensive about getting one, and I was eventually coerced into getting a 360 instead. My only regret is Square Enix being bitches and making FFXIII a PS3 exclusive...and even then my fanboyism isn't going to get me to shell out my money on it.
