  1. Importing Guitar Hero songs

Frets on Fire now has a built-in importer for the songs in the game Guitar Hero by RedOctane. To use it, you'll need to have the game DVD, at least 500 megabytes of free disk space and a lot of patience.

You'll also need to have the OGG Vorbis command line compressor installed. In Linux, you can usually get it in a package called vorbis-tools. In Windows, copy the encoder (oggenc.exe) into the game directory.

The importer can be started by choosing Song Editor in the main menu, followed by "Import Guitar Hero Songs". The importer will ask you the path to where the game files can be found. Usually this is just the driver letter of your DVD drive, e.g. 'D:'.

After you have entered the correct path, the importer will start ripping the songs. Note that this will take a very long time. For example, on a 1.8 GHz Pentium M laptop with 2 gigabytes of RAM the process took about 4 hours. It is recommended that you run the game in windowed mode so that you can leave the importer running in the background and do other things while it's doing its magic.

Once the importer is finished, you'll find the songs in the regular song selector. Note that if you abort the importer midway, it will mostly pick up where it left off when you run it again.

  2. Ashely Cole for William Gallas.

From a Chelsea point of view, that was shit.

However, if we're including actual transfers instead of part-exchange deals, Newcastle are clearly kings. Marcelino? Maric? Guivarc'h? Titus Bramble for £5m? Boumsoung for £8m?! That's not including the tragedies I'm too young to remember ¬_¬

Aston Villa were desperate to topple them when they spent £7m on Stan Collymore, but nobody has made as many and as consistantly bad buys as Newcastle United :P

  3. His name is Armando Miguel Correia de Sá. He, Ricardo Rocha and Tiago(Lyon) were all bought at the same time. He was Benfica's right defender when Miguel used to play as a midfielder. Then Miguel started playing as a right defender and Armando left Benfica because he was unhappy at being a substitute. He's pretty decent altought he attacks better than he defends.

  4. ABC has greenlit production on "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," a small-screen take on the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie feature, reports Variety. The project is eyed as a fall 2007 contender.

Doug Liman and Simon Kinberg are reprising their roles as director and writer, respectively. Liman, Kinberg and Dave Bartis will executive produce.

Liman and Kinberg are working on New Regency pic Jumper, and Kinberg delayed writing the TV script until just a few months ago, when he and Liman had a break in the production of that film. The plan is now to film the pilot in March, once Jumper wraps.

As in the movie, ABC's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" will revolve around two married assassins. The action will pick up about six months after the movie left off. "It's essentially 'Married ... With Children' with guns," Kinberg said. "The show takes all the marital issues a couple has and blows them up to action-genre size."

So rather than fight about who forgot to pack the toothpaste, "They'll bicker over someone forgetting to pack the detonator," he said.

Kinberg said the tone of the pilot is more comedic than the feature and possibly a bit darker as well.

  5. I only watched the last episode today and it was my favourite episode this season so far. Taylor was 5 stars as usual and it was great to see Kevin again. Hopefully he'll stay for more than just a couple of episodes. On other news, I almost got into a fight with some drunk guy during new year's eve cause he claimed that Mischa, Ben and Willa were all GREAT actors.

    *sigh* :ohwell:
