  1. Agh...Sheffield United are rubbish. At the beginning of February, I'm 19th and embroiled in something like a 10-team relegation battle - there's something like 4 points between 19th and 9th. It's weird, we've taken points off the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea away but we get Reading, Watford or Charlton and we're buggered. Got John Obi Mikel on loan now though, hopefully he can put in some good performances and help save us (after he completes the two-match ban he got himself on his debut!)

  2. I have the tiniest, vaguest memory of a programme which aired on CBBC, probably sometime in the early-mid 1990s - it had some kind of cyborg in it and the one thing I remember happening was this cyborg stomping through a shopping centre, with everybody scared of him, before turning up in the CBBC studios and attacking the presenter. It's really frustrating me - can anyone help?

  3. What sheer idiocy.

Owen's not fit, Rooney's probably out for the whole thing, Peter Crouch is no more than a super-sub and Theo Walcott hasn't even proven himself at Premiership level yet. Owen Hargreaves is absolutely fucking useless, and Bent isn't even in the reserves. It's just moronic.

I would have taken five or six strikers, as if Walcott turns out to be crap then we're fucked. Crouch on his own up front? No thanks.

Johnson and Bent should've been in there instead of Hargreaves and Green (risky, but I doubt Robinson or James will ever get injured and suspended at the same time - if they do, just kneecap Crouch and bring Green in as his replacement) and Kevin Nolan should at least be on standby.

Looks like Sven's not really bothered now that he's out of a job come August.

  5. I would love to see the Silurians and the Sea Devils back, they bring a different angle to the "aliens invading Earth" thing as they're not technically invading, and have a legit justification for wanting the planet back.

How do we know the Master's dead? Being sucked into the Eye of Harmony might have turned him into an all-powerful Time God or something. Now that'd make a great two-parter...

  6. That was fantastic. It felt, certainly more than any other episode in this revival, like old-school Who, not just with Sarah and K9 but with the continual references to the Time Lords, etc. Just a matter of time before they say 'Gallifrey' on-screen!

Liz Sladen was brilliant, and Tennant, Piper and Clark were all admirable, with Tennant in particular giving his best performance yet - still very similar to Tom Baker, particularly in the scene where he was discussing how he has to move on with Rose.

Next week looks a bit sketchy - but then again, I said the same last week, and look what we got...

  7. Has anyone got this month's DWM? Apparently there's a massive spoiler regarding the Cybermen episodes and I'm wondering whether or not it's just all being blown out of proportion.

I do have a theory about what it is though...I think it rather clever myself...

  8. Just watched Tooth and Claw after missing it last night - what an utterly fantastic episode, RTD's best Dalekless script easily.

Aside from the last five minutes which were a bit dodgy (the heavy-handed Torchwood reference at the end was just painful), everything was near-perfect - everybody played their role fantastically and unlike last week, the episode was brilliantly paced to fit neatly into the 45 minutes. The CGI werewolf looked terrible, but perhaps that was the best they could do given the timeslot.

On another note, who the hell made the trailer for School Reunion? It was awful.

Saved By the Bell - Back In Production!

    04/19/2006

Adult Swim has done it again! Following hot on the heels of Fox's Family Guy, Saved By The Bell has been pulled from cancellation with an order for 30 all new episodes taking place at Bayside High.

"We were ecstatic when we saw the early numbers on Saved By the Bell on Adult Swim," said Matt Laster, the VP of Turner Entertainment's newly created 80's Reclamation Department. "We knew this had the potential to be big, but we never thought it would be this big. The fans have really shown their support and come out in droves on the adultswim.com website."

According to Laster, the new series is still in development but he did say that almost all of the original cast would be returning, minus "Showgirls" star Elizabeth Berkley. The series will follow the events after Saved By the Bell: The New Class and find Screech as the new principal of Bayside and a retired Mr. Belding as the proprietor of the Max, the hangout that the Saved By the Bell gang frequented. Screech is overwhelmed by the new group of students and puts out a call for help, and soon, all of the old regulars are back at Bayside. Laster would not elaborate on the status of Zack and Kelly's relationship, though the couple were last seen walking down the aisle.

"I've spoken to the crew and they really can't wait to get back together," said Laster. "We think this will be a fun and exciting new direction for Adult Swim and we can't wait to find even more great 80's comedies for Adult Swim."

  10. I doubt it - I seem to remember Davies saying something about the Time Lords and Gallifrey being one of the aspects which made it unappealing to the mainstream audience. Or something.

Of course, I would love to see the Time Lords return, but I just can't see it happening. And apparently episodes 12 and 13 are absolutely massive, so the return of the Time Lords would just make the majority of the audience, who haven't analyzed every episode in any depth, go "what the fuck?"

  11. The Cybermen episodes are based on the Big Finish play "Spare Parts" so you've got nothing to worry about there.

I'm stunned at your Doctor rankings though - Baker and McCoy above Davison? And you discount David Tennant because he's only had two episodes, yet you put Paul McGann bottom despite him only ever having one. Mine would look something more like this...

    1. Tom Baker

    2. Patrick Troughton

    3. William Hartnell

    4. Christopher Eccleston

    5. Peter Davison

    6. Jon Pertwee

    7. Colin Baker

    8. Sylvester McCoy

I won't include McGann because one movie isn't enough to judge but I thought he had the potential to be a great Doctor, and Tennant has the potential to sneak into the top three, being a lot more watchable than Hartnell at times.

  12. That was great. Tennant's Doctor seems at the same time very different and very much the same to Eccleston's, and Billie was fantastic as Cassandra, and has very nice breasts...the solution at the end seemed a bit too easy though, and the Cat Women, though well-realized, were confusing at times. You could never tell whether they were good or evil (but perhaps that's a good thing).

The story seemed to go too quickly though - perhaps one-hour episodes would be better if we're sticking with individual stories.

  13. With BBC3 airing a "Doctor Who Night" this Sunday and the new series just over a week away, I think it's about time this thread got started.

The episode titles are as follows...

    1. New Earth

    2. Tooth and Claw

    3. School Reunion

    4. The Girl in the Fireplace

    5. Rise of the Cybermen (Episode 1 of 2)

    6. The Age of Steel (Episode 2 of 2)

    7. The Idiot's Lantern

    8. The Impossible Planet (Part 1 of 2)

    9. The Satan Pit (Part 2 of 2)

    10. Love and Monsters

    11. Fear Her

    12. Army of Ghosts (Part 1 of 2)

    13. Doomsday (Part 2 of 2)

I'm sceptical about episodes 10 and 11 which sound a bit dodgy, but I can't fricking wait for this new series...

  14. Awesome stuff - highly superior to the other "new big-money promotion" diaries floating around here. Glad to see that you haven't included the massive WWE and TNA roster cuts you get at the start of the game, opting for a more realistic approach.

Now here's hoping for a Lesnar/Goldberg feud to settle the score from WMXX.

  15. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection. I had a bit of money spare that I wanted to get rid of (to stop myself from spending it on shit in the school cafeteria), only just began to play it this week, and took it out after the opening video and about three minutes of play, in favour of Metal Gear Solid 3.

    Dreadful game.

  16. Realistic, decent booking, but I have I think you need to work on your promos - I can imagine just about anybody saying what you've written. It's all well and good putting a catchphrase in for Booker T and Flair, but they don't actually talk like that in proper, enunciated English. Vince wouldn't just come out and talk about the road to Wrestlemania, he'd talk about it being the time of year that everybody's eyes are on WWE, because of what he created because he's Vince McMahon, a billionaire evil genius - or something like that.

  17. I was managing England, and Rooney, Defoe and Owen were all injured before my final World Cup Qualifiers, so I had to scrape the bottom the barrel - and Chris Sutton scored a hat trick as we came from 1-0 down to beat Poland 4-1! I think he might be the only player ever who'll retire having scored more goals than he's had caps...
