Superbowl Ring Turns Up On Ebay

BOSTON (AP) -- Looking for an authentic New England Patriots Super Bowl ring? There's one available -- but it won't come cheap.

The ring given to former Patriots cornerback Leonard Myers for Super Bowl XXXVI -- the Patriots' first Super Bowl win -- is up for sale on the online auction site, eBay. The starting bid? $25,000.

The ring was put up for auction on February 6th. As of Saturday afternoon, there were no bidders.

The site included close-up photographs of the ring with Myers' name inscribed on the side, but there was no immediate way to confirm that the ring was authentic or was definitely his.

A phone number for Myers could not be located.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James says that it's the first time he's heard of a Patriot's Super Bowl ring being put up for auction.

The Patriots released Myers in August of 2003.

There have been plenty of athletes who've sold their championship rings over the years. For a lot of people they just don't need the ring there to tell them that they won the Super Bowl....they're more then satisfied with the money.

I could see some of the Patriots who have won multiple Superbowls putting up a ring for charity. That would be cool.
