Masters of Horror (Showtime, Friday, 10 PM Eastern)

Since cancelling Rube, George, and the gang from Dead Like Me, Showtime has been starving for anything to put on air, whether it be shitty Brittany Murphy movies, shitty Mickey Rourke movies or maybe the late night Misty Mundae laugh-while-taking-off-your-pants softcore flick. But at least they still have something good in original series (barring the maligned and forgettable Barbershop series), which they succeed again with the campy thrills of Masters of Horror. It's great blood and guts television, from the sheer fun of watching a rat with a human head cause a man to imagine horrible things to a disturbing creature screwing Steven Weber. And it's with that image that we carry to the top episode of the show so far: "Jenifer". Director Dario Argento works brilliantly with a cleverly-written teleplay by Weber and definitely brings the creep factor. While the other works have gotten off moreso on the cheap frills of blood and sex, Jenifer manages to adds a creepy factor to it that makes it work as stellar horror. It's fascinating work by Mr. Argento (which, for those who don't know, is Italian mega-hottie Asia Argento's daddy), and the peak of a series that's certainly better than watching Against The Ropes again...you Meg Ryan fan...

P.S. Though, I must mention the zombie-politica episode coming up looks to truly be the top of this series.

Rating: 7/10

(I'm sure I'd review Ghost Whisperer, too, but unless you want a review with negative points, I'm gonna pass.)
