GIMP Tutorials

Does anybody know where I can find some tutorials about text for The GIMP? I've tried Google and I found nothing and I can't figure out how to do the text in it.

Ugh don't get me started on the text facility in the GIMP.

If you give me more info on what you're trying to do specifically that you're having problems with I might be able to help more in depth, but once you put the text down right click it and use the script-FU options to add effects n such to the text.
