Slimline PS2?

hey i played God of war on my slimline ps2 every so many days completed it, i brought god of war second hand so it were a bit scratched as they are, then i played on brian lara 2005 brand new no problems, about 2 weeks later i tried to play god of war again and it doesnt work, now i checked the disk it seems my playstation made some extra scratchs on the god of war disk, but not on the brand new brian lara, and obv now god of war doesnt work im wondering is it my slimline ps2 or is it just that god of war is to scratched to work anymore? i would really like someone to get back to me cause i dont really wanna go buying god of war 1 and 2 when its my lazer or my playstation 2.

Lasers can cause scratches on CDs if the console gets knocked or moved around while the CD's spinning in the drive ... or at least, I know this can happen on the 360 so I wouldn't be surprised if it were the same with PS2s.

Another possibility is that the disk just got scratched. Did you leave it in the box? Do you have an annoying sibling/friend that might have scratched it and not told you?

nope neither i turn the console off before opening the top of the slimline altogether so it doesnt scratch it yet its made this god of war disk not work and my ps2 is in a open wood cabinet thing with my tv on a ledge above it so my ps2 never gets moved or bumped either, this is why im wondering if its the game disk or my ps2, another thing is i played on games thats like ps1 and played on alot like pro evo 6 its bit scratched but not as much as God of war and they all work fine its just this one game only other game i have trouble with is PDC darts after i play a really long torny it freezes dead on me and stops working so im outta guesses, another things is its not even a year old yet i got it 27th april 06, just dont understand it i put god of war in it makes alot of noise in the PS2 then i go on the browse and it says reading disk but never loads, like the darts game i said its freezes sometimes theres a little flick when i have a shot on pro evo 6 like jumps a bit but has never stopped altogether on me,

sorry for double posting just now i put my bran new brian lara in and my ps2 isnt reading it sometimes but other times is, and then while brian lara disk were inside the ps2 it tells me to insert a playstation or playstation 2 disk, could someone please let me know whats going on cause i asked this question to get some answers, and i have no idea about this stuff so please help me

My PS2 recently started reading disks on and off. Then not at all. I tried to fix it with help from CSAMH but it came at no reward unfortunately. In the end I just got a new PS2. Not really providing the good news you wanted, but there you go.

i thought as much but it isnt even a year old, is this something that happens alot then? has anyone ever had a slimline ps2 that lasted over a year or do they all break down before it?

ive still got the reciept for it from choices, and contacted both them and sony but the year is up tomorrow

well when i brought it they told me the receipt is 28 days worth on warranty then i would have the warranty for a year with sony thats why i contacted both
