Rules of the Graphics Forum - PLEASE READ

Recommended Posts

1. Flaming is prohibited, and may get you a warning. If you don't like a person's work, explain why. Common courtesy is handled here as it is anywhere else on EWB. It's asked that all members be kind and respectful to each other, and do their best not to let tempers flare. Criticism should be given constructively, as should any praise as well.

2. "Postwhoring" is prohibited, and may get you a warning if done continuously. Postwhoring means to post without substance, such as saying "Good work" and not saying why. Similar to feedback rules in The Dome.

3. ALL GRAPHIC REQUESTS GO INTO THE GRAPHIC REQUEST SUBFORUM. As of recent, this has been a returning problem, so it needs to be addressed. For now, doing so will not warrant a warning; however, any posters who do this and are told not to again, and do so again despite being told not to, will receive a warning. The request subforum is not difficult to spot.

4. Premade backgrounds are prohibited. If any designer is caught using premade backgrounds by other designers in their work, without citing that they've done so-- thus claiming the work is, in fact, their own-- they will be immediately warned for their action and given a 24-hour suspension for the first-time offense. Second-time offenders will receive a 7 day suspension, and in the event of a third offense, the member will be banned from EWB. We're a little more forgiving on premade backgrounds, as they are in fact a common thing for new designers to practice with; however, we stress the importance of giving credit for work where it is due.

5. Stolen designs are prohibited. If a member is caught posting entire designs made by other designers and claiming them as their own, then they will be immediately warned and suspended for 30 days. This is a serious offense, and will be treated as such. There is no three-strike ruling for this, if a member is caught doing this a second time, they will be banned from EWB. Furthermore, if a member's work is revealed to have been stolen, and the member has made multiple threads of different stolen works, every thread will count as its own individual offense; therefore, if more than one thread is made with stolen work, the member will be immediately banned, no negotiations.

6. Give credit for premade 'cuts'. If the website has stated that the cut is free-use, it is still asked that you post where you downloaded the cut, not only so that other designers might share the resource, but so that you aren't inadvertently claiming the work as your own. If the website requests for credit when their cuts are used, and it's found out that a designer has not given proper credit to the website, the designer may be warned.

7. Any complaints about a warning, suspension, or banning due to breaking or repeated breaking of these rules will not be heard by any member of the staff as a legitimate complaint. If you feel you were unfairly warned over something posted in the Graphics forum, or the Graphic Requests subforum, then please contact the moderator who gave you the warning in the first place; however, do realize that if it's decided that the warning fell within these guidelines, it will not be removed, and any punishment you were given will be carried out despite your complaints.

8. Always push to get better. We're all here to help each other, so don't feel discouraged if there aren't that many people commenting on your work, or if the comments on your work are generally negative-- use those comments and critiques to grow as a designer and get better! We all started off somewhere small, and it takes time and dedication to grow from there. Some of us are professionals now, others still just designing for the fun of it, but whether you're showcasing your portfolio's works or you're just looking for some feedback on a signature, you shouldn't feel that your work isn't worthy of posting here.
