Help?

Recommended Posts

I am a newbie to Photoshop CS4. I've searched google but have come up with zilch explaining how to use a brush ONLY on text. When I try to use a brush on an image, it asks that the layer be rasterized first. I then try the brush and the entire canvas gets covered, not just the text. Can someone explain a nice step by step in how to add brush designs to text ONLY?

The easiest way to do it would be to do this:

1) Write out your text how you want it.

2) Create a new blank layer above your text.

3) Now mask/select your text.

Just hold CTRL, then click the icon of the layer you want to select/mask.

4) Now just make sure you're on the blank layer you created earlier, and brush away.

Hope it helps. (Y)
