Layer Styles Auto Expand (PSCS4)

I know this really doesn't warrant it's own thread, but may as well stick it here.

On Photoshop (CS4), when you go onto your layer properties and add drop shadow, outline etc. or make a change to the layer style, the layer style auto-expands to show you what you've just applied. Is there any way of turning this off, it's just something I find really annoying.
