Man, I love Stro. Sad to see him leave the Mets, but hope he does well in Chicago.

Henry Ruggs is a murderer
He is, indeed. And as someone who lost a family member to a drunk driver, I have no sympathy for Ruggs. I know I said it in my last post, but hearing this just struck a vein. He is also significantly lucky that Nevada changed their DUI laws, because until recently, he would have been facing 2nd degree murder charges.

That is just awful to hear. Ended someone's life, ruined his own, and who knows what of the other passengers. I can't exactly sympathize with Ruggs. Its so irresponsible to drink and drive. I hope everyone else turns out okay.

Terrible tragedy. Alec Baldwin discharged a prop gun on the set of his new film resulting in the death of the film's director of photography and injuring the director.

I saw the Ghostbuster Afterlife movie on Friday at Comic Con. I really, really liked it. It was a lot of fun. The way they set it up, too, was a total surprise. The Con's description of the Ghostbusters panel said nothing of seeing the whole movie, other than that there'd be a panel with the Reitmans and some of the cast. And then when the moderator asked if they'd be showing some clips from the film, Jason Reitman said the loyal fans have waited long enough, and we saw the whole thing. Honestly, I can't wait to see it again when it comes out in theaters.

Last time I went to Fenway, there was a Yankees suck chant. Boston was playing the Blue Jays.
We don't care, we go all in. I've heard it at concerts before too.
When Weezer performed at Fenway recently, there was also a Yankees suck chant.

Love this. It's gonna piss some people off, but maybe they need to get pissed off.

There's just so much wrong with this team it's hard to keep track. Starting pitching is broken. deGrom has had 8 MRIs come back clean yet inexplicably can't pitch without elbow pain and multiple doctors can't figure out what's wrong with him. Chances are he won't throw again until 2022 and everyone will just hold their breath that he doesn't need TJS that takes him down until late 2023. Stroman is a free agent. Syndergaard is also a free agent but hasn't pitched so if you give him a QO he's a big question mark next year. Carrasco, as mentioned, looks like damaged goods.
Watching these guys "hit" is pure torture. They don't ever work the count, everyone in this lineup takes first pitch hacks all day. And the stat people keep pointing out they have a .900 OPS when swinging first pitch, but pitchers know they're swinging first pitch too and so they're usually sending an off-speed pitch in to start the AB, often resulting in either a swinging strike or a weak infield pop up.
And lastly, that Lindor contract is looking like an all-timer. I can't kill the Mets for it, I was thrilled with the signing and so were most fans, and the media all agreed it was a great deal for them. But as we sit here on August 16th he's hitting .229 and has been on the IL for a month. Had he not been extended he would've cost himself countless millions.
In fairness over the last month and a half before his injury he showed signs that he was figuring it out and starting to hit like Lindor. It's not an unrealistic expectation to think he'll be back to being a superstar next year with the first year jitters out of the way. But that contract is looking like a blunder at the moment if only because the Mets seem like a team a lot closer to needing to tear it all down and start over than most of the fanbase wants to admit.
So, what do you think happens next? You think they'll try and extend Baez? Is Rojas going to be back next year? As far as Rojas is concerned, Im kinda hoping *not*. I know some of this stuff isn't his fault, but he doesn't manage the bullpen well, and he is way too soft on the players for my liking. I'm just kinda hoping for ANY positive change at this point.

@Your Mom If the Mets get Bryant and/or Baez I'll save you a seat on the bandwagon if you want 😂 They're even bringing back the black jerseys tonight. Everyone looks good in black.
From the sounds of it, the Nats aren't done trading. I'd hate to be a Nationals fan with tickets to a game. Imagine going to a game and none of the people you paid to see are there anymore.

The city of Washington, DC gave the city of Los Angeles Max Scherzer, Trea Turner, and Russell Westbrook within the space of an hour, and for some reason I find that absolutely hilarious.
On a more serious note, Kyle Schwarber is going to Boston and is gonna be the DH I always thought he would be. I'm not even a Sox fan, but I'm genuinely excited to see what kind of numbers he'd put up at Fenway.

Yeah that's not scary or anything. Fucking America, man.

I'm feeling bad for White Sox fans basically having to deal with someone's drunk grandpa as a manager. Yuck.

The Cubs traded Cameron Maybin to the Mets, and in return, they received..... one dollar.
