  1. Other united fans I know talk like he's some sort of liability. He's still in the top 3 left backs in the league. We definitely don't need to be spunking stupid money up the wall to sign Baines. Could live without an injury to Rafa though
  2. Seems like we're trying to embarrass ourselves by bidding for every disinterested Barcelona midfielder we can, excellent stuff. That seems like a lot of money for Jovetic, city aren't f'ing about this summer.
  3. It would be funny if he joined Arsenal after saying he wanted to leave England. But yeah, I can't see it.
  4. BBC are reporting that Arsenal have had a 30m bid rejected for Suarez. Interesting.
  5. Love this line from F365 I can see Liverpool getting 35 - 40 for Suarez, if they decide to accept it. Personally I hope he stays, 1 because he makes the Premier League more exciting and 2 because I want to see what happens. He doesn't strike me as the sort to just get on with his job professionally when he wants to leave.
  6. pessimistic much? I am, massively. The winger and midfield situation keep me awake at night. I'd rather see any money we have spent there. On a different note. Any one know why Paul Ince offered his resignation? Was it because he hasn't done a good job or something else?
  7. I think we need more work than you'd expect a title winning team to need. Vidic and Ferdinand are great but creaking. I personally wouldn't trust Phil Jones, or Smalling yet. Evans has been decent but paired with one of the latter two he starts to look suspect again. Left back as identified is a problem, but I'd rather we bought a young player to develop into replacing Evra than going balls out for a player that will need replacing again in a few years. Right back and goalkeeper is fine. Midfield - Carrick is 32. Everyone else is average, Cleverley included. Wingers - all of them were terrible last season. In a way that's good because they can't be that bad again but I cringe when I see Valencia, Nani or Young is starting a game. Strikers - well stocked, but if Rooney goes, and Van Persie gets injured, or when he starts to decline we'll be relying on Hernandez and Welbeck which is a little frightening. I'd like to see us sign some midfielders deep lying and some attacking ones that are better on the ball and don't give it away as much. Against the better teams we struggle to retain possession, which is something I'd rather see us focus on improving.
  8. Eh? That means he's in his prime (and he is). You make it sound like he's 35, or that top teams should never sign players who aren't under 23? I will be seriously gutted if Baines goes, even for £15million+. He's such a big part of the team and the club. Fellaini can go, but not Bainesy My point was that spending big on a left back who's value will only decrease seems mental to me especially when I imagine the 20m being quoted as the asking price is likely a significant chunk of Moyes' budget. I'm not saying he isn't worth good money, hes been fantastic and consistent with it for a few years now but I personally just hope that we don't pay it. I'm surprise the United fans on here are so in favour, most of the other sites I go on the split is more even. Smacks of predictability as well, I hoped Moyes would try and distance himself from the expectation that he'd bring his old players with him.
  9. Evra showed that's he's not finished last season, so if he's got one or two seasons left of decent form it doesn't seem worth replacing him with a left back who isn't much younger than him.
  10. Can't see the point of that one if it's true. Baines is 28 I think.
  11. I like how Southampton are managing to throw money around without drawing too much attention to themselves, clever.
  12. Ashley's charm offensive has been continued after changing the name of a bar in St. James' that war named after Shearer
  13. Well, your team wouldn't be allowed in the Premier League cos it wouldn't meet the quota, so jokes on you!!! I still think Carroll is a very good player who could very well have a decent England career ahead of him (that probably says more about our depth in strikers) but I do find the wage rise quite surprising really. I'd load the squad with academy players to make up the numbers the same way I fluff it on FM!
  14. The amount of money Andy Carroll has commanded in transfer fees and wages over his career so far is staggering when you think he's effectively had half of a decent season in the premier league with Newcastle, a hand full of decent games each for Liverpool and West Ham. I don't think he's a bad player or anything but wow. If I was a chairman I would never bother buying English players.
