  1. I played the game for hours today but haven't left my RTTS. I made closer for my team and have made 15 out of 15 saves. I made the AA All Star team and was promptly traded to the Reds. I'm hoping I can get out of AA by the end of the season or at the beginning of the next. I'm assuming that since the Reds gave up quite a few players to get me that maybe they are in need of a closer and I'll make it through the system quickly.

  2. Yeah it's very difficult. I've bumped the sliders in my favor until I get the hang of it. I started a RTTS game as a relief pitcher and I got drafted by my favorite team which is pretty cool. Currently bombing around in AA and I'm doing alright. Only given up one earned run, the rest of the runs scored on me were due to errors by my fielders. The pitching is a little odd to get the hang of (I miss MLB 2K7) but I think once I can put more points into my control stats I'll be alright. Very fun game though so far.

  3. I'm really on the fence about Final Fantasy XIII. It looks good and I like the FF games but I just have not played a traditional RPG in 3D that I've liked. It just seems like open generic spaces with weird textures that you run around in trying to find stuff to do. Maybe I'm wrong, actually I hope I am but I'm more temped to just grab Legends of the Seven stars from the Virtual Console.

  4. The Ethan blackouts I believe are because of the accident. Why he has the origami and images of the drowned children is because he already lost a son and another was kidnapped. Since his child already died and another could be killed his mind jumps to the image most associated with the death of children, the Origami Killer. That's why he makes the little Origami because he feels connected to it. It's a stretch but I think that's what they were going for.

Yeah, the blackouts are because of the car accident, but the origami thing is silly. It's a dog, which by sheer coincidence happens to be the killers favourite thing to make? I'm also certain I heard Ethan mention having never done origami before, so it seems a huge stretch to assume he learned it during his blackouts and chose to do exactly what the killer supposedly does. Eh.

As far as the police being there at the end, Blake gets a phone call saying that a patrolman found the '83 Malibu so Blake orders all units and a helicopter to the location.

Yeah, I think a lot of my problems with continuity stem from the fact that my Jayden died at Mad Jacks so I didn't see the scenes where people call cops, or the cops put the evidence together. This is perfectly acceptable.

About Madison calling Jayden yet having never met him, she's a journalist. Any journalist would know the name of an FBI agent brought in to aid in an investigation. Not to mention at that press conference, I'm sure the captain announced he was there. Madison probably was either there or watched it.

Also her reaction to finding out Shelby is probably because of the same reason. She would no doubt know that someone was questioning the families of the victims.

This I don't believe. Maybe I'm just ignorant of the industry, but I can't really believe that a member of the fucking FBI of all things would be publicly known for any small time journalist to pick up on. The captain is questioned on the FBI's involvement, which Jayden can sit in on, but he is never referred to by name, or pointed out to the journalists, so I don't think his identity is something that would be common knowledge.

And no, she didn't know he was questioning the families. Shelby wasn't hired by the victims families, he was visiting them to gather whatever evidence they may have had. No one recognises him, there is no mention of him reporting back to the families with his findings, the families that supposedly hire him are never mentioned etc. He even visits three of the families during the game! I think it's most likely a cover, so I figure there must be a way for Madison to meet Shelby beforehand that I've missed out on. Unless things like private investigations and high profile FBI investigations are indeed less confidential that I assume.

None of it detracts from the game at all, in my view. The good thing about it is that you are writing the story yourself, it's your game and what happens stays happened. It's much more like real life in that way than a game, and in real life things don't get neatly tied up. No one is omniscient in real life, so things like who lays down the glass are easy to make up your own ideas, but some other things are just a bit of a stretch.

If you have Madison call Norman when he doesn't know where the final location is, she tells him that she is a journalist for the newspaper. Apparently the game takes place in Philadelphia so it would be a pretty big paper.

She would easily have connections to the police department and could ask for the identity of the FBI agent. Plus if the Origami Killer has been killing for years, the FBI wouldn't send a nobody. Jayden would be a big deal so the newspapers and media would pick up on him coming.

Yes it's an absolute stretch and not explained at all in the game but that's as close as I can get to making it fit. Far fetched but plausible.

  5. My theories on a couple plot holes...

My theory with the glass is that he forced Shaun to climb through the tunnels and do it. Shaun would be so scared with Shelby telling him that his father will die if he doesn't do it that he easily would. It's never implied that Shelby is making these traps during the course of the game. He obviously did it before Ethan started with the trials. He probably made the kid do it the same day he kidnapped him.

  6. Oh my god.

The scene with Madison and the doctor. Oh god. (in depth spoilers)

You can tell straight away something is "off" about him, but I lied to him and avoided drinking the drink by sheer intuition. I thought maybe it'd be drugged, and I guess it probably was. I searched through the house and could only find a Blue Lagoon or something club card, and accidentally opened the front door, thinking it was another room.

It gave me the option to leave or stay, and I hesitated, thinking maybe it'd be the smart thing to do, just leaving. I took too long thinking about it and the game made the decision for me, so I went along with it.

I snooped around a bit more, and then the fucker hit me with a bat which made me jump. So many times I thought I was done for.

I failed the shaking pad bit at the start when he was talking to me, and when he approached with the drill, I thought "Fuck, I just got Madison killed." The entire time he approaches you genuinely feel like what the fuck, I can't just watch and do nothing but thankfully! The door bell rang.

He goes speaking to the jehovas witness while I scramble madly for the ropes. I JUST manage to get out when he returns, and we start fighting. I missed a few commands, sone of them where heaving the pad upwards once, and I thought it was shaking the pad, so he eventually knocked me out on and I landed face first on the table. Again, I thought fuck, she's dead.

And then he stroked his hands over Madisons ass. Holy fuck. I'm going to get raped.

He turns her round and stands in between her legs and AGAIN I'm begging for something to do, to escape. And then she jumps up, drill in hand, and drills straight into his heart.

Jesus Christ. I actually had to stop playing for like ten minutes after that just to calm down. This fucking game.

Stupid me, I drank it. That fight was easily one of the most thrilling sections of the game. I thought for sure I was done for 5-6 times through it.

  7. Stayed up longer than I should last night to finish it off. Amazing game, can't wait to play through it again.

Unfortunately, I got Jayden killed by kind of not paying attention to the screen during a cutscene that lead to my being squished in a car compactor. I'll get you next time, Mad Jack. I had Ethan shoot Scott and got the new beginning ending. Not terribly sure what the motive for the Origami Killer was, if he's just gonna kill the dude who turns out to be an awesome father anyway, what's the point?

I honestly don't know if Shelby would have let him go or not. Something tells me he would have and then left to find Lauren or something. I figure that if someone finally passed his tests then he can move on with life and probably change his identity.

  8. Is anyone else picking up MLB 10: The Show this week? I'm quite looking forward to baseball season and I haven't had a baseball game since 2006 outside of Baseball Mogul. It's a pretty good timing as well since I'm done with Mass Effect 2 and Heavy Rain. Looks like April and May are going to be busy months though. Glad to get some quality innings in before then.

  9. Heavy Rain End Game Spoilers

Wow I did not see the killer coming at all. Completely blew me away. That said I think I got the exact same endings as Hammy. I should play through again and fuck up on purpose.

Sadly I figured it out during the fight with Jayden. As soon as I saw the shadow I said to myself "That looks like Shelby". I was hoping I was wrong after someone told me the killer was the clown from the beginning of the game.

Didn't stop me from yelling "VROOM VROOM MOTHERFUCKERS" when crashing the car into the house.

  10. Just beat Heavy Rain.

Wow... just an amazing game. Everyone survived and Shelby died at the end thanks to Jayden. I killed the guy with Ethan as I played him as someone who would really do anything to save his kid. I sexed up Madison and forgave her.

The whole last third of the game was so damn intense. From the chases to Madison being imprisoned in that dudes basement.

Quantic Dream outdid themselves with this one.

  11. Ethan spoiler.

First spoiler suggests which chapter. Second is about the chapter. The first spoiler gives the name but not what it's about.

    LIZARD

So first time around I used the kitchen knife to cut off the finger which was kinda gross anyway. Second time around I used the SCISSORS from the bathroom. That was brutally nasty.

    :puke:

I couldn't find anything else besides the knife and booze. I took two drinks of the booze and then used the knife. I'll have to go back and replay that part once I finish the game.

  12. Wow this game is tense.

The first test for Mars, the Bear one, the driving one. That was pretty crazy. I messed up on a couple of the presses because they blended into the background and i couldn't read the button. I ended up flipping the car but I made it out.

Where I just left off, I think I'm about to do his second test. Haven't done much with Madison but all the Shelby stuff and Jayden stuff has been really stellar so far. Absolutely fantastic game and I'm looking forward to more of it.

  13. RHCPs headline set at Leeds festival 2007. How about playing none of your hits, wanking around with your instruments for about half the set, Anthony Keidis being awful and not on stage much, and just generally being awful and looking like you are just there for the giant pay day that you are bound to be recieving, almost ruined the whole festival for me leaving such a bad taste in my mouth. Fucking bunch of arrogant cunts.

Oh man I totally forgot, when I saw RHCP a while ago they had The Mars Volta open for them. Absolutely terrible. They got booed off the stage practically. Then someone set a chair in the arena on fire.

Also, when I saw Tool the opening band also got booed off the stage to the point where the singer refused to leave. And if I'm correct that band (Tomahawk) is fronted by Mike Patton. He came out in a George Bush mask and went on some tirade about car washes or something.
