I'd love to know how the Night's Watch being a top drawer punishment for Jon was sold to Grey Worm.
It's been the traditional alternative punishment to people facing the death penalty for hundreds of years in Westeros and Grey Worm doesn't know Jon and has no reason to imagine he'd like it?

It is a bit unfortunate that the Messianic hero that's the only truly worthy heir to the throne is of course a white male, but they're kind of bound to the source material there.

I watched this yesterday. The message I got was “don’t trust women or brown people.” It makes way too much sense that Benioff and Weiss wanted to make that Confederate clusterhorror.

Well that's literally just not true at all.
It is if you actually think about it. It's easy to say "season 8 could be just about the North", but what about the North? You can't just have 7 episodes in a row of the Night King attacking different castles. If Season 9 is just the battle for the Iron Throne, what are they doing for the eight episodes before they invade King's Landing? Standing outside the Red Keep wringing their hands?
-
If they had extended the seasons what would go in them? Just battles that drag out over 3 or 4 episodes? People sitting around expositing their character motivations? Send Jaime back to faff around in Dorne?
The reason for the shorter episode count is that there's not enough story or characters left to sustain 20 episodes without hours of pointless filler.

Spoiler
I'm really surprised to see the opinion that Jaime's character has somehow been undone or ruined. Of course he'd go back to Cersei. That's what people in toxic relationships do. For better or worse, they're bound to each other. The fact that he went not to fight on her side or to kill Dany, but just to give up everything and try and get Cersei out of King's Landing is a testament to his character growth over the series. It would have been less believable if he went back to kill her or just stayed with Brienne. That's not how he works. It's not a happy ending, but it was always going to end like that for them.

As for Dany, Dany is mad. She has always been mad. It's been leading up to this for years. She's alone in a strange land, she's found out her birthright is a lie, everyone she loves is dead, has betrayed her or is secretly her nephew, and she just saw her closest adviser and friend murdered. And, oh, yes, she's mental. It was always going to end up like this, and if people thought she was going to beat Cersei, become a just and noble ruler, and live happily ever after, they really haven't been paying attention.

I don't mind the spoiler tags, but I don't get why someone would be balls-deep in the Marvel movies thread if they haven't seen Endgame yet.

Game of Thrones has fell into the same problem as WWE. When Ned died, people were angry at Joffrey for being a psychopath. When Robb died, people were angry at the Freys and Roose Bolton for betraying him. When Rhaegal died, people were angry at the writers. They're 'booking moments', rather than building a storyline with a logical conclusion.
That comes down to Ned and Robb being killed in the books, and you can't be angry at the writers for that because it wasn't their idea. If it happened today, people would be making the same complaints.

To be clear, I think this is way worse than actually just making a bad ugly Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
Expand on this.

That looked dreadful but for some reason Jim Carrey with the whole Dr Robotnik moustache at the end was the best bit. Is Sonic an alien now? Does that make more or less sense than just....a hedgehog? I don't know what the audience for this is going to be.
Most of the TV shows and comics and stuff aren't set on Earth, they're on a talking animal planet called Mobius, so Sonic has kind of always been an alien.
I don't know why they didn't just make him more cartoony, he looks freaky as hell, and the "humour" is so 70-year-old-executive-trying-to-seem-cool. The whole thing just looks horrific.

The shot of Peter's passport in the trailer has no year on it, so that may be them trying to hide whether it happens before or after Endgame.
4 hours ago, livid said:Good stuff! Are they gonna have someone in the MCU show up in every one of them to remind you that they're connected though?
Probably! Isn't that sort of the whole point? At this point seeing Marvel movies that are totally isolated from the rest of the universe would feel like a let-down to me.

I had written Hannibal (the TV show) off as another hacky cash-in on an existing property. Turned out to be something wholly unique and awesome.

That's standard. She was knocked unconscious.

I thought there was a chance Holm could win, but I thought it would need to happen in the opening seconds, I had zero expectation of her fighting that good a fight. She owned it. Unreal.

She started training with her mom when she was 11.

You know you're losing an argument when your only remaining defense of your position is that in an infinite universe, anything is theoretically possible.

The term Gamergate was created specifically in reference to Zoe Quinn, what are you even talking about.

I had a skim through most of the on topic points of this and I couldn’t find anything relating to the true source for all this which was ethics in gaming journalism, GamerGate started due to reports of games journalists offering good reviews at a cost. After that the report of Zoe Quinn having a positive review of one of her games which had been given mixed to negative reviews elsewhere based on the fact that she was in a relationship with the reviewer. After attacks started being taken against Quinn, a selection of feminists with an agenda hijacked the campaign and forced it into being something for their cause completely ignoring and refusing to acknowledge anything other than what they had turned it into.
I find it really surreal seeing people say things like this in real life. It's such full-tilt crazy.

Jon Snow may be a useless douche, but he's the closest thing to a straight-up fantasy hero in this show. I don't know where you left off, but he gets better, after a point.
As far as upcoming sexual assaults go, there's no details, but one of the actresses recently talked about filming a "super tramautic" scene that was horrible for everyone to film and watch. So, I dunno, tread lightly.

It might be trendy, but Modern Vampires of the City was truly excellent. A real maturation of their themes and their sound, and the best songwriting Koenig's ever done. One of the few albums I know where every single track is, in some way, outstanding (if that even makes sense).
