  1. OK everyone, we have a bonus addition to the next prediction contest. We know Danny Daniels is replacing Xavier but now you must guess who will replace Matt Stryker in the tournament! So for the next show you must choose the winners of the 8 matches, the match of the night AND who is facing AJ Styles and replacing Matt Stryker in the tournament.
  2. Xavier and Matt Stryker out of Rise of the Independents, Replacements for Messiah and Xavier already named

Reported on Nov. 30, 2004 at 6:57 AM

We have discovered that Matt Stryker and Xavier, both from Block A, are now also both out of Rise of the Independents.

Xavier re-injured his shoulder and, in a tough decision, has decided to take at least a 2 year hiatus from professional wrestling.  We wish Xavier the best of luck.  Xavier's replacement in Block A action will be former ECW referee, IWA World Heavyweight Champion and 2003 Ted Petty Invitational Tournament winner Danny Daniels.  Daniels adopts Xavier's record of 0-4-1 and his first match will be against Homicide on December 4th.

The reasons for Matt Stryker pulling out are unknown at this time.  His scheduled opponent in his next tournament match was AJ Styles.  Stryker's replacement will not be known until he walks through the curtain to face Styles.

The Messiah's replacement in the tournament will be Roderick Strong.  Strong will adopt Messiah's record of 2-3 and his first match in Block D action will be against Chris Hero.  Some people are joking around backstage saying that all of Hero's future opponents are leaving the tournament as this is now the third time his scheduled opponent for the next show has left for one reason or another.

  3. VDP, to tell you the truth I forgot about your tape due to being extremely busy in the month of December, being the holidays and what not. I'm doing your tape as we speak and it should go out tomorrow or Wednesday.

Rise of the Independents November 27, 2004: Showdown

We start it out with what should be a fantastic match as Chris Sabin takes on Paul London!

Chris Sabin (2-2) vs. Paul London (2-1-1)

This starts out super fast-paced with both men exchanging some lightning-quick armdrags and headscissors. Sabin blocks a Dropsault and hits a big step-up enziguri to gain the first advantage of the match. Sabin keeps control with the Over Easy for a 2 and then a springboard dropkick for another 2. He goes for a springboard swinging DDT but as he springs off the middle rope and turns, he gets met with a dropkick to the gut! London hits the Waffle Face and a slingshot legdrop for 2 and a half! He hits the Finley Roll and then a moonsault off the second turnbuckle for 2. London goes up top but Sabin meets him up there and climbs up with London, goes for a super Future Shock but London fights out and shoves Sabin down, goes for the London Star Press but Sabin moves! Sabin hits his Double Underhook piledriver that he calls Hail Sabin! He covers but London gets his foot on the rope at 2! Sabin can’t believe it and goes for the Cradle Shock but London escapes and hits the Legsweep DDT! Cover, one…two..thr..no! Sabin kicks out. London goes up top and waits for Sabin to stand up, flying crossbody but Sabin rolls through and lifts London up and hits the Sabinalizer swinging uranage backbreaker! Sabin is too tired to capitalize though and he takes a good amount of time recuperating. He gets London up and hits some overhand chops and goes to whip London, London reverses, Sabin off the ropes, London launches Sabin in the air and catches him on the way down with a sitout powerbomb! He pulls Sabin closer to a corner and goes up top, SSP time! But Sabin staggers to his feet and meets London up there. He hooks London and superplexes him down to the mat but as his feet go up, London hooks Sabin’s legs with his foot and holds Sabin down, 1…2…3! Paul London steals one from Sabin in a fantastic match!

    WINNER---Paul London

    **** ½

Sabin gets up shocked but he shakes London’s hand out of respect to a nice applause.

Up next we have the hilarious “Classic” Colt Cabana taking on the “Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams.

Colt Cabana (1-3) vs. Petey Williams (1-3)

Very even match to start out, Cabana gets the upper hand with a Butt Butt! Colt gets near-falls with a sidewalk slam and then with the double knees in the corner followed by a Tornado snap suplex~! Petey gets the upper hand with his tilt-a-whirl into a Russian legsweep. A dropkick to the back of the neck and a series of kneedrops gets 2 for Petey. Flying back elbow from the top gets another 2. Petey’s first attempt at the Canadian Destroyer gets him a back body drop and a powerslam for a 2 and a half. Cabana misses a quebrada so Petey tries the Destroyer again only for Cabana to stop him and hit that Kryptonite Krunch onto the knee for a CLOSE 2. Cabana then hits the SUNSET FLIP OF DOOOOM but Petey kicks out at 2 haha. Colt can’t believe it and tries for the Colt 45 but Petey escapes and hits the Siakolypse-like neckbreaker for 2 and ¾. A swinging DDT gets another 2 for Petey. He gets frustrated and goes for a Sharpshooter but is kicked off by Colt. Colt catches a charging Petey with a couple of clotheslines and then a big scoop slam. Colt goes up top and comes off with a huge frog splash but he misses! Petey gets up and pulls on that invisible rope and as Cabana staggers to his feet, Petey takes a running start and takes the big man over with the Canadian Destroyer! He turns Cabana over, 1…2…3! Big win for Petey Williams!

    WINNER---Petey Williams

The two shake hands after the match.

    We go backstage to Spanky.

Spanky: “I’m sure everybody expects me to goof off in this interview as usual. “Oh that Spanky, he’s such a joker!” Well tonight I’m all business. Because tonight I face Michael Shane. If I ever had an arch-rival, it would be Michael Shane. Shane, you have always tried to upstage me, no matter where we are in our careers. You always tried to suck up to Shawn Michaels and Rudy Boy in the training camps and get them to try and see that you were the better student, or so you thought anyways. And then what did you do anyways? You turned your back on Rudy Boy in Ring of Honor and started using Shawn’s fame to get yourself recognized. Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that. But mister, there’s a BIG difference in using that fame to get noticed initially and totally relying on it like you’ve been doing. We had a match in Ring of Honor to find out who the real “Showstopper” is and I won it for a reason. And tonight I’ll win again.

Spanky puts large yellow sunglasses and a funny-looking hat on and exits the view of the camera.

Super Dragon (2-1-1) vs. Sonjay Dutt (0-4)

This should be a fast-paced, high impact match-up! Sonjay starts out strong, befuddling Dragon with a series of dropkicks, ranas, headscissors, armdrags, etc. A spinning heel kick takes Dragon outside but as Sonjay goes for that Spaceman corkscrew plancha, Dragon jumps onto the apron and takes Sonjay’s feet out and Sonjay gets guillotined on the top rope! Dragon proceeds to beat the piss out of Sonjay for a few minutes after until Sonjay starts mounting a comeback and hits a big Déjà vu DDT. He hits that springboard elbowdrop of his for a 2. Frankensteiner off the top gets another 2. Sonjay up top now, gets crotched. Dragon climbs up but is shoved off by Dutt. Dutt now tries a Dragonrana but Dragon catches him and hits a sitout powerbomb into the turnbuckle! He then locks in an STF but Dutt reaches the ropes. Dragon hits the UFO springboard spin kick to the back of the head and then a back senton off the top for a CLOSE 2. He calls for the end and goes for the Psycho Driver but Dutt reverses it into a DDT! 1…2…no! Dragon kicks out! Dutt then picks Dragon up and hits the running Muscle Buster, the Indian Summer! He pulls Dragon close to the corner and goes up top, leaping off with the Hindu Press but Dragon gets his knees up and both men are down! Dragon gets the upper hand as both men get up and hits a big German suplex for 2. He goes for a Dragon suplex but Dutt elbows his way out, kick to the gut, off the ropes with the knee to the head, then the facebuster onto the knee, he goes to finish the Calcut Cut combo with the neckbreaker but he gets his head taken off with a Lariat! Dragon then hauls Dutt up and hits a brutal PSYCHO DRIVER for the 3!

    WINNER---Super Dragon

Alex Shelley makes his way to the ring to his theme music “Six Barrel Shotgun” by the Black Rebel Motorcycle Gang. He gets in the ring and grabs a mic, but the fans won’t let him speak.

Shelley: “Why don’t you idiots shut the hell up and let Alex Shelley talk. (boos) “Tonight I have a chance to prove without a shadow of a doubt who is the better faction in wrestling today and it isn’t CM Punk’s Second City Saints. No, the best faction in wrestling is Generation Next. This war has gone on for a long time now, TOO long and CM Punk will find out what it’s like to be in the ring and on the losing end against the man with talent…on loan…from God.”

Strong words from Alex Shelley and the lights go out as the fans bang the sides of the guardrail along to CM Punk’s music “Miseria Cantare – The Beginning” by AFI. Punk finally makes his way to the ring and this should be a great match!

Alex Shelley (2-2) vs. CM Punk (3-1)

A very Punk/Hero-esque first few minutes starts the match out, a very deep feeling-out process. Shelley gets the initial upper hand, working over Punk’s arm in typical Alex Shelley fashion. He twists the arm around and drives it into the mat ala Molly Holly and then hits a nice shoulder stunner. He works the arm with various armbars until Punk hits a leg lariat. Punk also works over Shelley’s arm, hammerlocking the arm behind Shelley’s back and scoop slamming him down. He turns Shelley on his stomach and hammerlocks the arm and then goes outside and slingshots in with a Hilo on the arm for a 2. Shelley reverses a whip to the corner but Punk gets his boot up and grabs the arm. Punk then tightropes across the top rope and then lands a big legdrop across the arm! He locks in a Crossface Chickenwing but Alex gets to the ropes. Punk then goes for a Fujiwara armbar, Shelley rolls through, ducks an elbow and hits an enziguri to the arm and then lifts Punk in a fireman’s carry and hits a TKO but focusing on the shoulder! Juji-gatame now applied but Punk gets to the ropes. Shelley hammerlocks the arm and then hits a Michinoku Driver. He then goes up top, waits for Punk to stand and then leaps off with a double stomp on the shoulder! 2 count on that. Whip to the corner and double knees to the chest and shoulder by Shelley. He whips Punk to the other corner but Punk springs off and twists into a blockbuster and both men are down! They both get up, Punk with the advantage and hits Welcome to Chicago and then a Shining Wizard for a close 2! He locks in the Anaconda Vice! Shelley struggles and grabs the ropes after about 20 seconds. Punk with a whip, misses a big boot, Shelley with a drop toehold and then transitions lightning quick into the Border City Stretch! Punk has nowhere to go, he tries rolling Shelley into a pin but Shelley rolls through right back in to the Border City Stretch ala Benoit to HHH at Wrestlemania! Punk is able to get a foot on the rope though. Shelley gets Punk up, tries It Came From Japan, Punk twists out, goes for the Pepsi Twist, Shelley blocks that, goes for Shellshock but Punk blocks THAT and maneuvers Shelley into the Devil Lock DDT! Cover, 1…2…NO! Shelley barely kicks out! Punk immediately stands Shelley up and hits what looks like a Regal Cutter but onto his knee and then locks in the Anaconda Vice right away! Shelley looks around and realizes he has nowhere to go and TAPS! Punk wins!

    WINNER---CM Punk

    **** ¼

Punk makes his way to the back and Shelley gets up to a nice applause by the fans. But Shelley quickly turns that applause to boos as he flips the fans off!

Interesting match-up up next as Bryan Danielson looks to keep his undefeated streak going as he battles Frankie Kazarian!

Bryan Danielson (4-0) vs. Frankie Kazarian (2-1-1)

A slow start but it picks up when Frankie goes for a springboard back elbow but gets dropkicked in mid air right in the back by Danielson! Danielson with a back suplex for 2. He stretches Kazarian out with a few neat holds but as he tries to suplex Kazarian, Kazarian shifts his weight and lands on the apron and slingshots in with a DDT. He hits the Electric Chair suplex he calls Back to the Future for 2. He hits 2 Germans and then holds on and locks in the KazMission but Dragon breaks it up with a jawbreaker. Dragon with a snap DDT and goes for Cattle Mutilation but Kazarian frantically reaches the ropes. Danielson gets him up and hits 2 consecutive scoop slams. He tries a 3rd but Kazarian escapes and hits the Wave of the Future out of nowhere! He covers, 1…2…no! Danielson gets a foot on the bottom rope! That was almost a huge win for Kazarian! Kazarian boosts Dragon up top and goes for the One Man Revolution but Dragon hits him with a brutal series of headbutts and pushes Kazarian off. He follows that up with a diving headbutt and covers, 1-2-3! Danielson beats Kazarian to remain undefeated!

    WINNER---Bryan Danielson

    *** ¼

Danielson is getting his hand raised by the ref when Michael Shane slides into the ring! He waits for Danielson to turn around and when he does, Shane strikes with a superkick! Kazarian recovers and the 2 stomp Danielson down until Spanky comes running down the aisle! He’s Shane’s scheduled opponent tonight! He dropkicks Kazarian out of the ring and then goes toe to toe with Shane! I guess this match is starting right now!

Michael Shane (1-2-1) vs. Spanky (1-3)

Shane gets consecutive 2 counts with a powerslam, a back suplex and a Sky High powerbomb, it seems he wants to get this match out of the way as soon as possible! Spanky comes back with that neckbreaker turned into a chinbreaker on the knee and a leg lariat. Tornado Pedigree gets 2. Springboard swinging DDT gets another 2. Shane reverses a whip to the corner and Spanky tries a kipup into a rana but Shane turns it into a sitout powerbomb for a close 2. Delayed vertical suplex by Shane. He goes for a Curtain Call, Spanky escapes, hits a few punches, whip to the corner and he runs up Shane’s chest and backflips off, hits a back body drop and then clotheslines Shane to the floor. Spanky runs off the ropes for the Whirling Twirlixer but Shane quickly slides into the ring and hits the Sweet Shane Music, knocking Spanky to the floor! Shane then hits his own somersault plancha! He throws Spanky back in and gets a 2. He goes for a suplex but Spanky escapes and hits Sliced Bread #2 out of nowhere but he is too tired to cover and we have a double count by the ref! Spanky is the first one up and he goes up top and comes off for maybe a crossbody or something but he gets caught with another Sweet Shane Music and both men are down again! They get up at 7, trading shots back and forth. Spanky with a wild swing that’s ducked by Shane and Shane applies a sleeper! Spanky starts to fade but then drops down in a last ditch effort with a jawbreaker to break it up! He boosts Shane up top and goes for a Frankensteiner but Shane holds on and Spanky tumbles to the mat. He rolls into the middle of the ring but that’s a wrong move as Shane hits his Picture Perfect Elbow! It’s over! One, two, no! Spanky kicks out! Shane can’t believe it and he grabs the ref, questioning him over and over if it was 3. Shane then climbs up the turnbuckles but backwards and he gets caught by Spanky. Spankygoes out onto the apron and climbs up with him and they struggle up top once Shane realizes what Spanky intends to do. But Spanky gets control and takes Shane off the top with a Super Sliced Bread #2!!! Spanky covers, 1…2…3! Spanky beats his arch-rival!

    WINNER---Spanky

    *** ¼

Spanky celebrates by tagging the fans’ hands on the way back to the dressing room as Frankie Kazarian comes back out to help Shane to the back.

We go backstage to The Messiah, who surely has some interesting comments regarding tonight’s Loser Leaves the Tournament match against his former friend and partner, Christopher Daniels.

Messiah: “The lesser of two evils…that’s cute Daniels, I like that. No unlike you I don’t preach to be this evil guy and spout shit off like I’m a friggin’ poet or something. Quite simply, I’m an asshole and I use that to my advantage. I first developed a reputation in this business as a “deathmatch” wrestler. But it doesn’t take an idiot to realize…you ask any Indy fan in North America, they’ll tell you the same thing, that The Messiah is one of the most underrated WRESTLERS in the country. Well…that’s very flattering but I don’t need the opinions of some idiot fans to tell me how good I am. I can do anything you put in front of me. Chris, you are a fantastic wrestler, but if it goes hardcore can you still hang? I don’t think you can. That’s something you need to think about. And I would suggest NOT trying to. Do not envy a violent man Chris, it’s on my shirt, and it means you can’t be The Messiah so don’t even try. But I guess that’s all you can do tonight is try right Chris? But try as you might, your only option…is failure.”

Time for our semi main event, a first time ever meeting in professional wrestling as Chris Hero takes on Low Ki! This one should be excellent!

Chris Hero (2-2) vs. Low Ki (3-1)

These two proceed to just beat the holy hell out of each other in the opening minutes of this match. Hero knocks Ki back with forearm strikes but Ki comes back with a big European uppercut and some Mongolian chops. This just makes Hero mad though and they trade shot for shot, for every Hero forearm, there’s a Ki chop right back at him! Hero now with a series of forearms, he goes for a roaring forearm but Ki ducks and goes for an enziguri but HERO ducks! They then forearm each other at the same time and then both for a Yakuza kick and they take each other off their feet! They both slowly get up, Hero with the advantage, he hits a somersault neckbreaker and a running senton back splash for a quick 2. He whips Ki but Ki springs up onto the middle rope and levels Hero with the Tidal Wave! A snapmare and a Muta power drive elbow gets 2. He wears Hero down for a few minutes and goes up top but Hero catches him and goes up, looks for a superplex, Ki shoves him off and goes for a double stomp off the top, Hero rolls out of the way though and gets up in the corner. Ki charges at Hero but eats a boot to the mush and Hero hits the Kravate Kutter for the klose 2 kount. He then hits a nice series wear he hits 2 running double stomps and then one from the 2nd turnbuckle for another 2. He locks in the Cravate and goes to suplex him over from there but Ki escapes and hits the Koppo kick followed by a nasty release Tiger suplex! He goes up top and hits that BRUTAL double stomp! That’s it, one…two…NO! Hero gets the right shoulder up! Hero is majorly favoring his midsection now and tries to leave the ring but Ki locks in a Dragon clutch around the ropes! He is forced to break the hold though, this isn’t the Pure Wrestling Division!

Hero again retreats to the corner and comes at Ki with some forearm shots and a quick Concrete Crash. He holds onto the legs and tries to apply the Hangman’s Clutch and he does! He has it locked in and Ki desperately tries to reach the ropes and he finally does! Hero hits the Dislocator for a 2. He then waits for Ki to get up and blasts him with a Yakuza kick. He gets Ki in the rear chancery for the Hero’s Welcome and calls for it but that alerts Ki and he is able to lift his feet and kick Hero in the face from there! Wow! He whips a groggy and surprised Hero to the corner and hits the Tidal Krush! Hero collapses to the mat, I think he’s out! Ki keeps trying to drag him to his feet for the Ki Krusher but every time he gets him in position for it, Hero keeps collapsing down! Ki tries one more time but Hero suddenly springs up with a hard forearm shot! A whip to the corner and he charges in but Ki takes his head off with a sidekick! Now Ki looks pissed off! He again tries for the Ki Krusher but Hero escapes, goes for the Hero’s Welcome but as he twists for the move, Ki holds on and turns it into the Dragon Clutch! Right in the middle of the ring! Hero struggles and struggles and looks like he’s about to tap but he thinks better of it and finally grabs the bottom rope! Ki drags him back and goes to apply the Dragon again but Hero keeps covering up. So Ki proceeds to pound on Hero’s back to get him to stop covering up but Hero is persistent! Ki then stomps Hero in the back of the head (OUCH!) and then grabs him by the hair and unleashes some SICK Kawada kicks to the face! Hero is wobbling on his knees, almost falling back and Ki hits 2 HARD kicks to the chest and then signals for the 3rd one to the face. He goes for it but Hero ducks it and rolls up Ki with a schoolboy, 1, 2, NO! Ki immediately rolls back onto his feet and KILLS Hero with the knockout kick to the head! Here’s the cover, One, two and three! Low Ki literally had to KNOCK Chris Hero out to pin him, what a war!

    WINNER---Low Ki

    **** ¼

Ki helps Hero to his feet and shakes his hand after the match, and what a match it was!

But we won’t be seeing any handshakes in this next match, it is our main event of the evening and the loser must leave the tournament! It’s Christopher Daniels vs. The Messiah, next!

Christopher Daniels (2-2) vs. The Messiah (2-2)---Loser Leaves The Tournament Match

A clean even exchange starts this one out ending in both men going for a leg lariat at the same time. You gotta know these two men know each other SO well after tagging on and off during the last few years not to mention being two of the most clever, conniving, scheming men in all of professional wrestling. Messiah takes the low road with a thumb to the eye to gain initial control but Daniels comes back with a series of clotheslines followed by a Flatliner for a CLOSE 2 count! We almost saw the Messiah out of here right there! Daniels with a nice suplex followed by 2 kneedrops and an elbowdrop for 1 and a half. Messiah hits a nice pumphandle overhead suplex to break this one open. Gourdbuster and springboard legdrop get 2 for the Messiah. He whips Daniels and elevates him, looking for Carlito’s Way but Daniels turns it into a dropkick! Step-up enziguri followed by a Blue Thunder Driver for a 2 for Daniels! Back suplex and a slingshot legdrop from the apron for 2 again. He goes for a uranage slam, Messiah elbows out, goes for a roaring elbow but Daniels ducks, tries another enziguri but Messiah ducks that, whips Daniels to the corner, misses a big running boot and then tries a lariat but Daniels ducks the arm and plants Messiah with an STO. He points to the corner and the fans say it with him: “Best…Moonsault…EVER!” He goes for it, the double jump moonsault and connects! One...two…thr..NO! Messiah stays alive. Daniels calls for Angel’s Wings and goes for it but Messiah grabs an arm, twists out and hits a quick DDT followed by a Lionsault, one..two..no, Daniels kicks out. Messiah goes for the Fall From Grace but Daniels escapes and backdrops Messiah to the floor!

Daniels goes on the apron and goes for his Arabian press to the floor but he sees Messiah move out of the way and lands on his FEET on the floor! He turns right into a superkick though and then Messiah elevates Daniels and hits Carlito’s Way on the floor! He gets on the apron and runs off with the Holy Roller as Daniels gets up, bowling him over again. Messiah drags Daniels up and throws him into the ring and covers for a 2. Messiah boosts Daniels up and hits a nice Frankensteiner for 2 again. He gets Daniels up and tries to whip him to the corner, Daniels reverses though, Messiah sits up on the turnbuckle and tries to get his boot up into a running Daniels’ face but Daniels blocks it and hits a LOUD palm strike and then hits HIS version of the Fall From Grace, the Cobra Clutch Iconoclasm I guess you could put it. He covers, 1…2…NO! Messiah stays alive again. Daniels gets him up and goes for the Angel’s Wings, Messiah keeps blocking so Daniels goes for MESSIAH’S version of the Fall From Grace, Messiah escapes but that throws him off his game and Daniels hits a kick to the gut and the Angel’s Wings! It’s over, one…two…thre..NO! Messiah kicks out of Angel’s Wings! Daniels can’t believe it! Daniels goes for a back suplex or something, Messiah backflips out and lands on his feet and quickly scoops Daniels up and plants him with the Fall From Grace! He turns Daniels over, 1……2……NO! Daniels kicks out! What an intense match! Messiah nearly has a conniption but he calms down. He then pulls Daniels up and, with evil smile on face, plants Daniels with his own move, Last Rites!! He turns Daniels over and makes a cover, 1……2……thr..NO!! Daniels still kicks out!! And NOW Messiah has that conniption as he goes NUTS, backing the referee into the corner and screaming at him that it was a 3 count. He is absolutely beside himself as he goes over to Daniels, lazily kicking Daniels down again and again as the fans try to rally Daniels to his feet. Messiah turns to the fans and says “Now it’s over motherfuckers! No more Christopher Daniels!” He hoists Daniels up on his shoulders, he’s going for the Godsmack! He spins around and around and releases Daniels legs to do the move but Daniels lands on his feet and it’s only a split second before he gains his bearings and drills Messiah with Last Rites! He turns Messiah over, ONE…TWO…THREE!!! Daniels has done it and the Messiah is outta here!

    WINNER---Christopher Daniels

    *** ¼

Daniels celebrates at ringside with the fans. Messiah gets to his knees in the middle of the ring and the fans start singing “Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, Goodbye!” at him. Daniels gets on the mic and joins in the singing as Messiah turns in every which way, yelling and cursing at people to stop singing. He finally gives up and flips everybody off and leaves down the aisleway. Daniels gets a standing ovation in the middle of the ring and bows to each side of fans and leaves the ring and we’re out.

    END OF SHOW.

  4. Depends on if he's one of my favorites or not :shifty:

I find it amusing and flattering at the same time that the odd predictions are being thrown in 5 days at a time when I haven't updated in 3 weeks

Next show up possibly tonight if I get off...er...sit on, my lazy ass and type out the last 2 matches :P

  5. *Brain explodes*

Wow, I've never seen that great of hyping in a diary, you literally had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know who it was and when Joe smashed Acid in the head with the chair my head was like *KABOOM* Great F'n show, I absolutely loved everything from the tease at the start of the show to all the people's music playing in the middle of the match, right down to the conclusion when Joe turned. Awesome job, you've got me hooked...but I think you probably already knew that. :D

  6. This idea is fucking awesome, I have never even thought of it before! The only MAJOR thing that eally irked me was that you hyped their returns. ECW usually never hyped returns, they were always just spontaneous and I think that would have been better. Like if Saturn & Malenko came out and destroyed the Impact Players and Raven & Dreamer. Then later on Eddie Guerrero destroys RVD & Sabu. And then finally having Benoit attack Awesome only for Douglas to attack HIM or something like that. Also I really dont think the fans would boo the hype videos because I think realistically they would have gone apeshit for the return of ANY of these guys. Other than that though I'm REALLY looking forward to this, let's see what you can do

  7. Sorry everyone for taking a while to get the show up, I just started back to work the other day after recovering from my car accident and with Christmas approaching and friends finishing college semesters and what not but I'm sure the majority of you are also experiencing the same things so I'm sure it's cool. But yeah I just wanted to say thanks for the support so far, 11 pages is pretty cool in my opinion, even if a large part of it is prediction posts but still...I also appreciate you guys throwing in comments about what you liked about the shows, what you're looking forward to etc. it really helps get me more motivated to get shows up so again thanks. Anyways the show will hopefully be up in the next 3-4 days, thanks for the predictions and being patient and all that good stuff :P

    Truly,

    darrdor.

  8. Well I had probably TOO MUCH fun writing both the Briscoe vs. Briscoe Iron Man match and the Acid vs. Homicide Anything Goes match but meh...I hope you enjoy the show!

    ----------------------------------------------------

Rise of the Independents November 20th, 2004: Warzone

We start off the show with what many wrestling fans consider a dream match-up as the Amazing Red takes to the air against fellow high-flier Jack Evans, who is substituting for Teddy Hart.

Amazing Red (1-3) vs. Jack Evans (0-4)

A fantastic back and forth battle here that quickly turned into a game of one-upsmanship. Red was able to hit an F-5 early and go up top for his Infrared! He then hit the Red Star Press but it was a little too early in the match and Evans was able to kick out at 2. Evans came back with a spinning front kick, a trademark move of BOTH men. He then hit a standing 360 shooting star press (!) followed by a standing Infrared! There’s that one-upping! Evans hits a Michinoku Driver and heads up top but gets a spinning front kick from the master of it, Red. Red hits a top rope rana for 2. Evans again comes back, climbing up on Red’s knee and hitting a Fameasser and hitting a top rope Lionsault for a 2. He waits for Red to get up and goes for a dropkick but Red catches him in position for a Wheelbarrow suplex, puts Evans’ head between his legs and sits down, DRIVING Evans into the mat with the Red Spike! That has to be it! He turns him over and covers, one…two…thr..no! Evans somehow gets a shoulder up! Red can’t believe it and waits for Evans to stagger up and goes for the Code Red but Evans holds on and turns it into a Money in the Bank piledriver! One…two….thr..no!! Red kicks out now! What is it going to take for either man to win this match? Evans with a whip to the corner and charges in, he’s caught with a boot from Red, Red gets on the middle buckle and comes off with a swinging Flatliner, Evans takes it right on his head! Red then pulls Evans to the corner and comes off with his old Red Alert phoenix splash but Evans moves. Evans now with a spinning dropkick and then sets Red up for like Jose Maximo’s Skillet Driver. He yanks on Red’s arms, flipping him up and while Red is in mid air, Jack dropkicks him in mid-air!! The fans break out into a “Holy Shit!” chant as Evans basks in the cheers. He then positions Red near the corner and goes up top and hits his breath-taking 630 Splash! 1…2…3! What a high-flying spectacle of a match!

    WINNER---Jack Evans

    *** ½

Evans gets up and helps Red to his feet and shakes his hand in a show of respect as they have lots in common and pulled off a fine match.

Up next we have the so far very impressive Austin Aries taking on the “Hired Assassin” Dan Maff.

Austin Aries (3-1) vs. Dan Maff (2-2)

Maff uses his size to stay in control early, hitting some power moves including a Samoan drop, a butterfly suplex and the Stiffest Elbow in the Biz. Aries comes back with a stiff running dropkick in the corner. He then goes on the apron and slingshots in with an elbow in the corner. His great gutbuster-STO-pendulum elbowdrop combo gets a close 2. He goes for that Crucifix Whip but Maff powers Aries back over so he is holding Aries horizontally in front of him and then tries for a fallaway slam but Aries lands on his feet and hits a Mr. Perfect style neck snap followed by a big dropkick to the face. He goes to lock in the Rings of Aries but can only get one arm hooked and Maff makes his way to the ropes to break the hold. Maff retreats outside only for Aries to connect with a big corkscrew pescado, almost killing himself in the process. Back in, Aries impressively takes the big man up and plants him down with a brainbuster! He goes up top, maybe for his 450 but Maff crotches him! Aries leans over, his head hanging down and Maff goes to the other side to build up steam and then launches himself with the Cannonball to an upside down Aries! He does the sign for the Burning Hammer and goes for it but Aries grabs onto the top rope and won’t let go! Maff lets him down and tries to grab at Aries but Aries grabs the ref and all 3 men can’t get out of each other’s way. Aries finally shoves the ref away and punts Maff right in the lower nutsack region! He gets behind Maff and takes him over with that Crucifix Whip and as the ref gets down and counts Aries grabs Maff’s tights for extra leverage and gets a cheap 3 count! By hook or crook, Aries defeats Dan Maff!

    WINNER---Austin Aries

    ***

Maff is superr-pissed as Aries quickly rolls out of the ring. Maff wants a piece of him but the ref holds him back and ushers him back to the locker room. Aries apparently isn’t done here tonight, as he has the mic:

Aries: “Everybody knows I don’t talk too much, I let my actions inside this ring do my talking for me. (slight applause) “But I have a special shout-out to make to someone. So SAMOA JOE, if you’re listening, and I’m sure you are, no matter where you go on the Indy circuit, I’m only one step behind you. And next week is when I catch up. Next week it’s me vs. you and there’s no stopping the “Wrestling Machine.” I watched your match with Maff last week and I just had a WAY easier time beating him than you did and I KNOW I can beat YOU as well! So Joe you have 7 days to contemplate how you are going to take your first major singles loss in about a year, but one thing’s for sure, one name will keep popping into your head and that’s Austin Aries.”

Aries drops the mic and the followers of Aries applaud him respectfully as he exits the arena.

Right now we have a possible technical masterpiece on our hands now as the wily veteran Jerry Lynn battles “Hurricane” John Walters!

Jerry Lynn (2-2) vs. John Walters (2-2)

Very good technical exchange to open the contest but Jerry uses his speed to get an advantage with quick ranas and armdrags. He gets close near-falls with an inverted DDT, a swinging DDT and a top rope rana until Walters is able to counter the Cradle Piledriver with a Concrete Crash. Walters hits his Piggyback Stunner for 2. He then focuses on the back area of Lynn with numerous suplexes and backbreakers. Lynn gets a brief comeback when he gets his foot up in the mush of Walters and hits a leaping bulldog. He goes for a TKO but Walters escapes and hits the Lung Blower! Cover, 1…2…no! Lynn kicks out of it. Walters then locks in a Sharpshooter and Lynn might tap! He crawls towards the ropes and is almost there but it looks like he will tap! But instead he fights it out and makes the rope! Walters goes right back to it with knees to the back. A German suplex with a bridge gets a CLOSE 2 count. He goes right back to the Sharpshooter and again Lynn is punished in the hold for another 20-30 seconds before again reaching the ropes! Walters looks a bit frustrated and goes for the knocSuckt blow, looking to hit the Hurricane DDT but as he turns Lynn over for the DDT, Lynn armdrags Walters over! He kicks him in the gut and goes for the Cradle Piledriver, Walters backdrops but Lynn holds on into a sunset flip, 1-2-no Walters reverses into a pin of his own, 1-2-no Lynn takes him back down into a pin, 1-2-no, Walters rolls out and again grabs the legs to try and lock in the Sharpshooter a third time. But Lynn reaches up and pulls Walters over into an inside cradle out of nowhere and gets the surprise 3 count! The veteran does it again!

    WINNER---Jerry Lynn

    ****

Walters can’t believe it, asking the ref if it was indeed a 3. He then gets up and him and Lynn come face to face before shaking hands, great show of sportsmanship by Walters, even on the losing end!

Backstage the Briscoes are talking to each other while warming up. They are so accustomed to warming up and preparing together and strategizing as a team but tonight they face each other, in a 30 Minute Iron Man Match no less!

Back to the ring we go as we have 2 guys going one on one that are on quite a losing streak as of late, both at 0-4!

Matt Stryker (0-4) vs. Xavier (0-4)

A good opening sequence gets us into this match, Stryker takes control and works over the leg of Xavier in typical Stryker fashion. Xavier comes back with a leg lariat and a few clotheslines and goes for Kiss Your X Goodbye early but Stryker reverses and hits a German suplex for a 1 and a half count. He goes right back to work on the leg with a Dragon screw and a leg vice with an anklelock. Xavier squirms to the ropes. Stryker lets go and then drags Xavier back with an anklelock but Xavier is able to stand on his free leg and hit an enziguri. He hits that inverted Samoan drop of his and then backs Stryker into the corner and goes for some of those high knee strikes but he hurts his leg coming down on it. So he beats Stryker down with fists and hits that slingshot knee to the face. He spends the next few minutes in control getting a few near-falls. He powerslams Stryker down and goes up top for his 450 splash but he spends too much time up there, contemplating if his leg will hold up and Stryker comes dashing up the turnbuckles ala Kurt Angle and takes Xavier over with a belly to belly superplex. Back suplex and Lionsault gets 2 for Stryker. He goes for his Death Valley Driver but Xavier slips behind him and hits Kiss Your X Goodbye! He covers but Stryker kicks out and 2 and a half! Xavier now goes for the X Breaker but Stryker rolls through the momentum and hits the DVD! He’s tired but is able to make the cover but he took too much time, Xavier kicks out. Stryker then does the thumb across thro..er..unibrow taunt signifying this may be the end for Xavier. He locks in the Stryker Lock! Xavier yells in pain but he claws his way slowly across the mat and finally reaches the bottom rope! Stryker is frustrated now and deviates from his game plan, going up top. He comes off for a flying legdrop but Xavier moves! They both stagger up and Xavier with a boot to the gut, hits a powerbomb and holds on, into an overhead fallaway powerbomb, landing Stryker flapjack-style, he’s going for that 3 move combo of his! He then floats over and tries for the piledriver but Stryker grabs the arm and twists behind Xavier and hits a German suplex, holds on and hits another and still holds on! He then hits a 3rd German suplex and attempts a bridge but he’s too fatigued and the referee slaps BOTH his hands 3 times on the mat! What happened? The ref talks it over with the ring announcer who then announces that we have a draw! What a disappointment for both men!

    WINNER---None (Double pin---draw)

    **** ½

Both men get up and to everybody’s surprise, XAVIER offers his hand to Stryker! This HAS to be a trap! Stryker looks around, unsure and accepts Xavier’s hand and Xavier then leaves the ring. A show of sportsmanship from Xavier? What’s going on here?

Onto the next match here as Samoa Joe takes on a man who can probably hit just as hard as he can, BJ Whitmer!

Samoa Joe (3-1) vs. BJ Whitmer (3-1)

This one is expected to be stiff as fuck, and it does not disappoint! Right from the beginning these guys trade thunderous forearms and slaps back and forth, BJ surprisingly backs Joe up and whips him to the corner and hits a charging high knee and then snapmares Joe over and kicks him in the back! Joe of course no sells that and gets right up, peppering Whitmer with more slaps. He goes to whip BJ to the corner, BJ reverses and comes in for another high knee but Joe plants him down with an STO! He then snapmares BJ over with a kick to the back, a chop to the back, a kick to the chest and then finally the kneedrop off the ropes to finish up the combo. He stands BJ up and hits some knees to the gut, Kawada-style and then finishes with a big enziguri kick. He gets BJ up for an Island Driver but BJ escapes and hits a superkick to stagger Joe and then a release German suplex! He goes for a Dragon suplex but Joe keeps blocking, so BJ winds up and hits a HARD roaring elbow to the back of the head and then DRAGON SUPLEXES JOE! He holds something of a bridge but Joe is out at 2. BJ now with a snap suplex and holds on into a Northern Lights suplex for 2 again. He goes up top but misses a diving headbutt. They both get up at a 6 count from the ref and Joe is pissed now, grabbing BJ by the hair and hitting numerous headbutts and then whips him off the ropes and hits a powerslam! 2 count there. Joe now goes for the Muscle Buster but BJ somehow breaks free and hits some stiff forearms and then plants Joe with an Exploder! He covers, one…two…NO! Joe kicks out! Perhaps if BJ had used his Wrist Clutch version, he might have had him! As if BJ hears this, he goes for that deadly Dragon Exploder he used on Jay Briscoe last time but Joe elbows BJ in, where else, the NOSE and hits a big roundhouse enziguri that would make Jinsei Shinzaki proud! BJ staggers back but stays on his feet and charges Joe but Joe hits a spinning leg sweep, taking BJ over and onto his face. Joe then waits for BJ to get up before charging across the ring and BLASTING him with a huge LARIATOOOOOOOOOO!! He makes the cover, 1…2…3! Samoa Joe wins a hell of a fight!

    WINNER---Samoa Joe

    ***

Joe leaves the ring and the camera is in his face as he goes towards the back. He looks into the camera and says:

Joe: “Austin Aries….you want Samoa Joe? Take a good look at BJ Whitmer and ask yourself the same question. I’ll see you next week chump.”

Joe then disappears through the curtain as the fans respectfully applaud the efforts of Whitmer as he leaves.

Homicide has some words for Trent Acid in the backstage area.

Homicide: “Trent Acid, I used to think you were nothin’ but a punk-ass lil’ bitch. But then we faced each other in some of the most brutal matches people has ever seen. So I gained a lil bit of respect for you. A little. So tonight, why don’ we go out there and prove we 2 of the best in the business, Anything Goes, we’ll find out who the better man is. “The Superstar from South Philly, Japan” versus “Notorious 187” Homicide, gangsta style, you best bring it cuz you know I will, byah!”

Now we have the much-anticipated 30 Minute Iron Man match, brother vs. brother, Briscoe vs. Briscoe, Jay vs. Mark!

Jay Briscoe (2-2) vs. Mark Briscoe (2-2)---30 Minute Iron Man Match

We see a nice 6-7 minutes of chain wrestling, a feeling out process. You may ask why these 2 even NEED a feeling out process but you gotta think these two might employ different strategies then their brothers might expect out of them? Anyways, Mark breaks it wide open with a jumping back heel kick to the back of Jay’s head as he was bent over. He goes for several quick pinfalls but Jay escapes them all and Mark takes him down with a clothesline. Mark hits 2 Sambo suplexes for a 2. A spinning heel kick and a leg lariat gets 2 again. Jay comes back with a beautiful dropkick and then a running boot to the face of a seated Mark. Clothesline in the corner and a sitout Gordbuster by Jay gets 2. Jay goes for a spinebuster but Mark counters and spikes Jay with a DDT! He boosts Jay up top and goes for a superplex perhaps but he gets shoved by Jay. Jay then stands up but gets crotched by a recovering Mark. Mark then positions both of Jay’s legs on the same side of the turnbuckle and then goes out onto the apron, going for his Springboard Ace Crusher but Jay holds on and Mark crashes to the mat. Jay gets down and makes Mark backflip from the impact of a big Yakuza kick! He calls for the J-Driller and goes for it but Mark blocks and trips Jay, somersaulting over and hooking the legs, 1-2-3! Mark draws first blood with a quick rollup, but more importantly, he COUNTERED the J-Driller!

Mark Briscoe leads 1-0 at 10:47.

There’s a 15 second rest period in which Jay just looks in shock across the ring at his brother but nods in understanding. The rest period concludes and they circle each other and go for a lockup but Jay switches up at the last second with a rake to the eyes! Hey, whatever does the trick! He quickly scoops Mark up and plants him with a Death Valley Driver! He goes up top and hits a big flying legdrop and covers, 1…2…no! Mark kicks out. Jay gets him up again and hits a neckbreaker for 2 again. A powerbomb gets yet another 2. He goes upstairs but misses his Cannonball Senton. Mark hits his old Five Star Moonsault for a 2. He goes for his Cut-Throat Driver but Jay escapes, kick to the gut and another powerbomb for another 2. He goes for the J-Driller again but Mark counters it again by grabbing Jay’s arm and twisting out, he whips Jay to the ropes and goes for a rana but Jay counters THAT with a THIRD powerbomb, 1…2…NO! Jay Mark kicks out but those powerbombs are really starting to do some damage! Jay though immediately picks Mark up and hits a brutal sitout powerbomb, folding Mark up and that’s enough to get him his first fall! Jay used this same strategy to defeat Jimmy Rave at CZW Best of the Best 3 and it worked here against Mark too!

Jay Briscoe ties at 1-1 at 14:49.

The 15 seconds runs out and Jay pounces on Mark immediately, going for ANOTHER powerbomb but Mark backdrops him. Mark then runs off the ropes with a HUGE lariat! He covers but Jay kicks out at 2! Mark has an angry glint in his eyes. He goes out onto the apron and hits a springboard dropkick on Jay as he gets up. Jay is down and Mark again goes onto the apron and this time hits a springboard kneedrop and then stands Jay up and hits the Cut-Throat Driver DANGEROUS! He turns Jay over, 1-2-3! Mark again takes the lead!

Mark Briscoe leads at 2-1 at 18:28.

Jay barely gets his wits about him as the 15 second rest period comes to an end. Mark is all over his brother and hits a quick DDT but Jay kicks out at 2. Mark then stands Jay up and goes for a second Cut-Throat Driver but Jay escapes that, ducks a clothesline and hits a sort of Yakuza dropkick and that took the last of his strength, both men are down! The ref applies the double count now and gets to 9 before the crowd rallies both men up to their feet. They trade shots back and forth, Jay ducks a swing from his brother and tries to back suplex Mark out of the ring, Mark lands on the apron and tries to suplex JAY out of the ring to the floor but Jay also lands on the apron and they grapple, each trying to toss the other to the floor. In the struggle though they both try to take each other off at the same time and they both end up eating the steel guardrail! They are both down and the ref starts applying the count. They start getting up and at 9 they are standing and ready to fight again but they look at the ref and then at each other and both dive back in before the 10! Jay is first up and boots Mark in the head and hits a folding powerbomb, his 5th of the match! Mark kicks out at 2 though! Jay can’t believe it and goes for Mark’s own Cut-Throat Driver but Mark escapes, boots Jay in the gut and hits the J-Driller on JAY! The fans go nuts but Mark is unable to cover! He finally does, 1…2…thre…NO!! Jay’s foot is on the bottom rope! He’s still alive in this thing! Mark can’t believe it, arguing with the ref that it was 3 and at the same time wasting valuable time! Jay is able to drag himself up with help from the ropes. Mark runs and goes for his Climbing Shining Wizard but Jay avoids the knee strike and chops Mark as Mark is now sitting on the top rope. Jay then surveys the situation before going out on the apron and springboarding and hitting Mark’s own Springboard Ace Crusher on him! He uses this adrenaline to pull Mark up and hit a Falcon Arrow but it was more like a Steiner Screwdriver DANGEROUS! He hooks a leg and gets a 3 to tie it up with 2 minutes left!

Jay Briscoe ties at 2-2 at 27:56.

Both men use the 15 second rest period well and both stagger to their feet. They come together as the rest period ends, duking it out like two hated enemies! Jay backs up and goes for a Yakuza kick but Mark ducks and hits a leg lariat! He then pulls Jay out of the ropes and positions him for a big move. He confirms this and yells out “Shooting Star” and climbs up top. He is about to go for it but Jay shakes the middle rope trying to climb to his feet and then the top one and Mark gets crotched! Jay then climbs up as the ring announcer lets us know there’s only 1 minute to go! They jockey for position up top as Jay looks like he is going for a superplex but Mark hits shots to the gut and tries for maybe a superbomb but Jay fights out of that. He then butterflies the arms, Oh My God, you don’t think….no he can’t….J-DRILLER OFF THE TOP DANGEROOUUUUUUSSSS!!!!! The crowd goes ape shit at this as Jay barely drapes an arm over Mark, 1-2-3! Jay takes the lead and there’s only 20 seconds left!

Jay Briscoe leads at 3-2 at 29:41

Both men don’t even attempt to get up as the time runs out and Jay Briscoe has won the damndest Iron Man match ever!

    WINNER---Jay Briscoe

    **** ½

The fans chant “Briscoes! Briscoes!” as the two finally are able to make it to their feet. They shake hands and embrace as the fans continue chanting their name. They exit the ring and allow fans to congratulate them on a damn fine match.

Up next we have would should be an interesting contest between “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and the “New Age Punisher” B-Boy. But I’ll tell you, they have a tough act to follow!

    AJ Styles (4-0) vs. B-Boy (2-2)

AJ wants to start off with a feeling out process but B-Boy not-so-politely tells him that’s not in the cards with a stiff kick to the leg. AJ returns in kind and the 2 trade leg kicks until they can barely stand. They then lock up collar and elbow and B-Boy forces AJ back to the corner and lays in with a stiff chop, AJ responds with a forearm so B-Boy hits a series of hard forearms. He backs up and hits a running big boot to AJ and AJ slumps down in the corner. B-Boy runs for the Facelift early but AJ sees him coming and quickly gets the fuck out of that corner! They circle again and AJ hits a boot to the gut and some forearms and then a quick scoop slam and a high impact kneedrop off the ropes. He then hits his suplex turned into a neckbreaker for an early 2. AJ is in control working over the midsection mostly. He goes for a crucifix bomb but B-Boy wriggles free, ducks a discus lariat and floors AJ with a palm strike and then hits a brainbuster for a 2 count. He sits AJ up and hits a stiff kick to the spine for another 2. He then goes for the Cross Special Brainbuster but AJ escapes behind B-Boy, hits a German suplex and holds on and goes for that sitout facebuster of his but B-Boy backs AJ into the corner, hits a running forearm and as AJ slumps down, B-Boy backs up and this time takes AJ’s face off with the Facelift running STIFF-ASS dropkick. He pulls AJ out and covers but AJ kicks out at 2. He has AJ up for a version of the Hurricane DDT but AJ escapes, knees B-Boy in the gut and hits a brainbuster! He slowly gets up, followed closely by B-Boy. He then moonsaults off the middle rope and goes for that inverted DDT but B-Boy twists around into a sitout inverted DDT of his own for 2 and ¾! He backs up and waits for AJ to start getting up. AJ does and sticks one knee out as bait. B-Boy charges for his Shining Wizard but AJ catches him in it and goes for the Styles Clash, what a counter, but no B-Boy lifts himself back up and escapes behind AJ but as he turns around AJ hits that beautiful backflip Pele Kick! Both men take time coming around and they get up, trading forearms, B-Boy backs up and goes for a palm strike but AJ catches the arm and maneuvers around into a hammerlock and then folds B-Boy up on his head with that Hammerlock Backdrop Driver of his! AJ senses the end is near and goes out to the apron and leaps maybe for his springboard 450 Splash but B-Boy is able to cut him off and push AJ’s feet out from under him and AJ falls stomach-first on the top rope, knocking the wind out of himself! He falls into the ring and B-Boy hits a big Death Valley Driver and then goes across the ring, waits for AJ to get to a knee and then BAM! Shining Wizard! B-Boy covers, one…two…three! B-Boy ends AJ’s undefeated streak!

    WINNER---B-Boy

    *** ¼

B-Boy waits for AJ to get to his feet and the 2 shake hands, great competitive match!

It’s main event time boys and girls and judging from the past encounters between Trent Acid and Homicide, this is a must-see! Homicide comes out, all business. Acid then makes his way to the ring, but way more serious than he usually is, no letting girls shove money down his pants tonight. Also interesting to note no mocking Homicide like in their previous matches. This should be off the page!

Trent Acid (2-2) vs. Homicide (4-0)---Anything Goes Match

The two come face to face in the middle of the ring and jaw-jack at each other. Acid then points to the ropes and then slaps his leg, what is he saying? We get our answer as Homicide runs off the ropes and Acid LETS Homicide Yakuza kick him! Acid staggers back and then runs off the ropes and hits his own Yakuza kick on Homicide! Homicide staggers but doesn’t fall and hits another Yakuza kick! Acid then hits another one on Homicide! They both run off the ropes now and double Yakuza kick each other! The fans applaud them as they both get to their feet. Homicide runs and misses a Yakuza kick, Acid then tries one but misses also, Homicide blocks a punch, tries a Koji Cutter, Acid pushes him off, goes for a roaring elbow but Homicide ducks THAT and dropkicks Acid to the outside! He then runs off the ropes and hits the Tope Con Hilo to the floor on Acid! Homicide then takes a fork out of his pocket! Some front row fans start a “You sick fuck” chant and Homicide encourages them! He takes the fork and tries to stab Acid but Acid blocks it and kicks Homicide below the belt and then grabs the fork and stabs Homicide numerous times, busting him open! They brawl over the guardrail and into the fans, hitting each other with chairs galore. They brawl towards the back where the merchandise table is, Acid gets control and slams Homicide’s head on the table and then superkicks him down. Acid then climbs the bleachers next to the merchandise table and moonsaults off onto Homicide! A small “Holy Shit” chant breaks out as Acid drags Homicide back towards the ring. Back over the guardrail now and Acid builds a chair fort with about 10 chairs. He then places Homicide on it and goes in the ring. He climbs to the top rope and comes off, switches directions in mid-air and splashes down on Homicide with the Bad Trip on all the chairs! “Holy Shit” chant # 2 breaks out. Acid reaches under the ring and gets a table and sets it up and then tosses 2 of the chairs into the ring. He isn’t done yet though and now takes out a ladder from under the ring and shoves that in too!

He grabs Homicide and pushes him into the ring and follows. He goes for a suplex, Homicide goes up and over, waistlock, Acid reverses, tries to German Homicide over, Homicide lands on his feet though, kicks Acid in the gut and hits a piledriver! Homicide then grabs the ladder and leans it in the corner. He then grabs a chair and slams it over Acid’s back! He pulls Acid up by the hair and scoops him up, maybe going for a running powerslam onto the ladder but Acid escapes, lifts Homicide up and runs with a Blue Thunder Driver on the ladder!! Homicide writhes in pain on the mat as Acid gets up. He goes outside and moves the timekeeper’s table a little, obviously with something in mind. He then gets in and sees Homicide getting up so he gets a chair and hits Homicide over the back with it. He turns Homicide over onto his back and places the chair over Homicide’s face. He then springs off the second rope and hits a Tumbleweed legdrop, driving the chair into Homicide’s face! Acid then grabs that chair and the other one and sets them both up in sitting position and then places the ladder to make a bridge over the 2 chairs. He grabs Homicide and looks like he’s going for a Cop Killa but Homicide escapes and hits an overhead belly to belly suplex. He sits Acid on the turnbuckles and climbs up and then grabs Acid’s head and leaps backwards with a 2nd rope Koji Cutter onto the ladder! Acid now squirms in pain, holding his ribs as Homicide then rolls Acid outside and onto one of the tables. He then gets in and goes to the top rope and hits a DOUBLE STOMP off the top THROUGH THE TABLE on the outside! The crowd breaks into “Holy Shit” chant # 3 and we’re calling the funeral home to prepare a gravesite for a Trent Acid.

Homicide drags Acid’s almost lifeless body into the ring and covers, 1…2…thr..NO!! Acid kicked out of that! Hooolllyyyy fuuuuuuuuuuccckk! (Copyright Dave Prazak, 2002) Homicide can’t believe it either but the ref verifies that he does in fact know the difference between 2 and 3. Homicide shakes his head in disbelief and tries to drag Acid to his feet but Acid is dead weight. Homicide drops him and turns around, playing to the crowd. But all of a sudden Acid gets up and hits a Yakuza kick to Homicide as he turns back around! Quick cover, one, two, no! Acid almost surprised him there! Acid sets up a chair in sitting position and then whips Homicide to the corner, running double knees to the chest and then props Homicide up and takes him off with an Acid Bomb onto the open chair! Acid now sets Homicide up on a turnbuckle again, right above the other table! He goes out onto the apron, but Homicide is facing the opposite way? Acid sits on Homicide’s shoulders and then falls backwards and takes Homicide THROUGH THE TABLE WITH A REVERSE RANA!!! “Holy Shit” chant # 4 starts up, followed by a “Please Don’t Die” chant as well. Hey Paul London isn’t in the building! Acid struggles to his feet and pushes Homicide into the ring, cover, 1…2…NO! Homicide gets his foot on the rope! Acid holds his head, wondering how in the hell he is going to beat Homicide! He bridges the ladder over the 2 chairs again and then grabs a 3rd one from ringside. He waits for Homicide to get up and tosses it at him, Homicide catches and Acid tries to Yakuza Kick the chair into Homicide but Cide holds the chair up and steps aside, Acid sends the chair flying and then turns into a BRUTAL LARIAT from Homicide! Homicide then sits Acid in the corner and places the chair in front of his face and runs across the ring and back in with his running knee, sending the chair into Acid’s face with a sickening “SMACK!” He then pulls Acid up by the hair, goes behind him and grabs the arms and KILLS Acid with a COP KILLA ON THE LADDER BRIDGE!! Acid is dead! Homicide covers and finally the ref counts, 1-2-3! Homicide wins the best match in ROTI history so far!

    WINNER---Homicide

    **** ½

A bloody Homicide staggers to his feet and stands triumphant over Acid as the ref raises his hand. Homicide stares down at Acid and then bends down and gently smacks Acid on the cheek to revive him. Acid opens his eyes and sees Homicide and Homicide beats his chest in a show of respect to Acid and then leaves the ring and we go off the air as the chants of “Match of the Year” ring throughout the arena….

    END OF SHOW.

Also I'd like for Azrael to come forward and tell me how to remove the cameras from my house because SOMEHOW he predicted a draw between Xavier and Stryker  Haha. Anyways, again I hope you enjoyed the show!

  9. I hate when people can't see the positive things that come out of EVERY situation in our every day life. If this fan wasn't so obsessed and close-minded, he would realize that we got like 3 great bands out of the demise of Pantera, those being Down, Superjoint Ritual and ofcourse DamagePlan. Like The said, I really feel sick :(

  10. Two matches at next Rise of the Independents show given special stipulations

Reported on Nov 18th, 2004 at 5:43 PM.

Two matches have been given special stipulations in the upcoming ROTI show:

First, Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe has been made into a 30 Minute Iron Man Match!  Whoever scores the most pinfalls and submissions will win the match!  The question of who the best Briscoe is will be answered!

And secondly, in a not-so-surprising move, the Homicide vs. Trent Acid match has been dubbed as Anything Goes!  ROTI officials felt that a disqualification was imminent had they not made this match Anything Goes, thus the reason for the decision.

  11. This installment is horrible, they've TAKEN OUT many great parts in the gprevious games such as selecting who goes in season mode, what show they are on, heel/face, etc.

Storyline mode is HORRENDOUSLY repetitive, ummm......too much focus on Divas....need I go on?

  12. Rise of the Independents November 13th, 2004: Epics

As usual we start the show out with a match as Petey Williams makes his way to the ring. He has yet to win a match yet, perhaps he can win this match as we see his opponent the Messiah make his way to the ring.

Petey Williams (0-3) vs. The Messiah (2-1)

This was a back and forth contest until half way through the match when Petey went for the Canadian Destroyer but Messiah didn’t allow Petey to flip over him and pushed him off, Petey landed on his feet but Messiah elevated him into the air and hit a Cutter on the way down, Carlito’s Way! Messiah hit a springboard legdrop as well as a Lionsault but neither move put Petey away. Messiah goes for the Godsmack but Petey escapes and hits a Russian legsweep and holds on, pulls Messiah up and hits a move similar to The Stroke for a close 2. Petey gets near falls after a Siakolypse-like snap neckbreaker and an enziguri. But Messiah is able to regain control after hitting the Godsmack! He covers but Petey gets his foot on the bottom rope. Messiah goes up top and waits for Petey to get up and leaps off for a crossbody but Petey ducks and Messiah flattens the ref! Petey then hits a swinging DDT and covers but no ref! He tries to revive the ref and gets low blowed by Messiah! The fans stir as Christopher Daniels makes his way down the aisle and into the ring. Messiah gets Petey up and holds him for Daniels to hit him but, in a scenario wrestling fans have seen MILLIONS of times, Petey ducks and Daniels’ leg lariat hits the Messiah! Petey clotheslines Daniels out of the ring and then runs at Messiah and hits the devastating Canadian Destroyer!! The ref recovers as Petey makes the cover, One, two, three! Petey Williams has his first win!

    WINNER---Petey Williams

    *** ¼

Petey quickly gets out of dodge as Daniels comes in the ring looking not very happy. Daniels helps Messiah to his feet and they have a little argument but they seem to settle it and Daniels starts to make his way out of the ring but Messiah LOW BLOWS him from behind!! Messiah then hits the Fall From Grace on his own partner! There goes THAT evil duo! Messiah then lifts Daniels up and hits his own move, Last Rites on him! Messiah then spits on Daniels and heads to the back, leaving Daniels to pick himself up. What a raucous start to the show!

Up next we have what should be an exciting match as Spanky battles Super Dragon.

Spanky (1-2) vs. Super Dragon (1-1-1)

The opening minutes of this match consist of Dragon slapping Spanky around with vicious strikes while Spanky tries to out-quick Dragon with dropkicks and such. Spanky is able to take Dragon outside with a headscissors over the ropes and then skins the cat Steamboat-style back into the ring and leaps onto Dragon with a somersault plancha. Back in and Spanky gets a 2. He turns a neckbreaker into a chinbreaker onto the knee and then a leg lariat takes Dragon down. Spanky goes up top and hits his Left Turn at Albuquerque frog splash for a CLOSE 2 count. Dragon comes back with a deadly lariat though and then the springboard spin wheel kick he calls the UFO to the back of Spanky’s head for 2. Curb Stomp gets 2 also. Dragon then tries for a Dragon suplex but Spanky blocks it, drops down and takes Dragon over into a pinning combination for a 2. Spanky tries to whip Dragon into the corner, Dragon reverses but Spanky tips up and takes Dragon face-first into the corner with a rana. Spanky then hits a Tornado Pedigree out of the corner! One, two, thr..no! Dragon gets a shoulder up! Spanky out on the apron now, springboards in but Dragon ducks under, Spanky lands on his feet and swings at Dragon but Dragon ducks and hits a brutal release Dragon suplex, Spanky lands right on his head! Dragon calls for the end and goes for the Psycho Driver, Spanky escapes and grabs Dragon’s head and goes for Sliced Bread #2, Dragon pushes him off behind himself, grabs Spanky and tries for a Supernatural Driver now but Spanky elbows out, again tries for Sliced Bread #2 but as he pushes off the corner and is about to flip over Dragon, Dragon holds him in that position and throws him back first, UPSIDE DOWN into the corner! Spanky flops over on his stomach as the crowd is in disbelief. Dragon then picks Spanky up and finally DRILLS him with the Supernatural Driver and gets the 3 count!

    WINNER---Super Dragon

    ****

We go backstage to the team of Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian.

Shane: “Hello again wrestling fans, yes it is us, the two men who continually have the best matches on the cards, even when wrestling each other no less! First, the “Coolest Man on Earth” and the real “Future” Frankie Kazarian! And then myself, the “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels……….COUSIN! Michael Shane! Tonight Frankie, we have individual matches, yourself against the wannabe “Future” Chris Sabin, a man both you and I have defeated COUNTLESS times. And I will be taking on, and defeating, the “Master Snake Charmer” or whatever he likes to call himself, Sonjay Dutt.”

Kazarian: “Snake charmer, are you saying what I think you’re saying?”

Shane: “It’s quite possible Frankie. But Sonjay Dutt’s sexual preferences aside, tonight, Shane and Kazarian will once again have the 2 best matches on the card because that’s just what we do. Now a lot of people are going around here all excited about our “Triple Main Event”, which I might add, does NOT include a match with either Michael Shane or Frankie Kazarian as competitors. So a little notice to Paul London, Bryan Danielson, Christopher Daniels, Chris Hero, CM Punk and Low Ki, and that is to keep dreaming and maybe one day, you can be on the same level as Shane and Kazarian. Sabin, Sonjay, prepare for defeat.”

The camera follows Shane, accompanied by Frankie Kazarian, through the curtains and to the ring. Sonjay Dutt makes his way out alone and judging by the look on his face, he knows he might be in for a long night as long as the odds are 2-1.

Michael Shane (0-2-1) vs. Sonjay Dutt (0-3)

Sonjay wrestles this entire match having to deal with constant interference behind the ref’s back by Frankie Kazarian. Shane gets a few near falls but eventually Kazarian’s interference backfires when he was holding Dutt from the apron for Shane to superkick him, Dutt ducks and Kazarian gets nailed and knocked to the floor. Dutt then follows with a spinning heel kick and a double springboard Arabian press for a CLOSE 2. A Déjà vu DDT and a Sonjay Star Press gets another 2 and then a double springboard elbowdrop gets ANOTHER 2. Dutt goes for the Indian Summer muscle buster but Shane blocks and hits a brainbuster onto his knee! What a move! That gets a 2. Shane then hits a rib-breaker and goes up top for his Picture Perfect Elbow but he gets cut off by Dutt and Dutt hits a Frankensteiner! He pulls Shane to the corner and goes up top and hits a beautiful Hindu Press! The ref counts, 1…2…NO? Shane’s foot is on the rope and it was Kazarian who put it there! He just stole the win from Sonjay! Sonjay hits a spaceman corkscrew plancha on Kazarian on the floor and then throws him into the ring. He kicks him in the gut, off the ropes with the boot to the head, the HHH-style facebuster but as he goes to finish the Calcut Cut combo with the neckbreaker, Kazarian ducks and Sonjay eats a superkick from Shane! Shane with the cover and the ref counts the three! What a cheap win for Michael Shane!

    WINNER---Michael Shane

    ****

Kazarian puts the boots to Dutt and Shane joins him. Kazarian gets Dutt up and is looking to hit his Wave of the Future but the fans erupt and here comes Chris Sabin with a steel chair! He slides in and swings wildly with the chair as Shane and Kazarian literally dive out of the ring. The heels back up the ramp way as Sabin tends to Dutt. Sabin then looks up and points at Kazarian, they will collide later tonight!

Up next we have Second City Saints vs. Generation Next as Colt Cabana does battle with Alex Shelley.

Colt Cabana (1-2) vs. Alex Shelley (1-2)

Cabana controls the early goings of this match, using his power advantage to out-weigh the technical efforts of Shelley. Cabana strings together a series of near falls after a Tornado snap suplex, a quebrada press and a Kryptonite Krunch onto the knee. He goes up top for a frog splash but there’s no water in the pool when he lands. Shelley goes right to work on Cabana’s bad shoulder. Several wear-down holds are applied but the real damage occurs when Shelley hits a double stomp on Cabana’s arm OFF THE TOP ROPE! He immediately locks in the Border City Stretch but Colt quickly grabs the ropes. Shelley keeps working over the arm. He whips Colt to the corner and charges in for a double knees but misses and Cabana runs in and hits his own double knees to the chest and then whips Shelley to the ropes and hits a Butt Butt~! He goes for the Colt 45 but his arm is too injured and Shelley hits a quick Divorce Court and again locks on the Border City Stretch. Cabana yells in agony and tries desperately to reach the ropes and finally gets there but the damage is done! Shelley then gets Cabana up and hits a version of the Shellshock but focused on the arm, that really wrenches his arm out! He then grapevines the left leg and locks in the Border City Stretch yet again but in the style of an STF! Cabana screams but he won’t tap out! He starts squirming towards the ropes but Shelley pulls back as hard as he can and Cabana is finally forced to tap out!

    WINNER---Alex Shelley

    *** ¼

Shelley leaves the ring with an arrogant smirk on his face, he is on a roll!

We go backstage where a livid Christopher Daniels is standing by:

Daniels: “Messiah! Who in the hell do you think you are turning your back on me? If it wasn’t for me, you would be nothing and you sure as hell wouldn’t have beaten Doug Williams or ESPECIALLY Low Ki! But you know what? I just checked the schedule for the next show and you know who your opponent is for that show? It’s ME! And right now I’m laying down a challenge to you Messiah. When we step into that ring in two weeks for our tournament match, for one of us it will be the LAST tournament match. That’s right, you and me Messiah, loser is out of the tournament and will be replaced! That is, if you have the intestinal fortitude, which I highly doubt. Are you confident of your abilities Messiah, or when it comes to you and I, are you just the lesser of two evils? In two weeks Messiah, all you can do…is say your prayers.”

Daniels leaves. Daniels vs. Messiah in two weeks, loser is out of the tournament!

Well right now we have a TNA feud renewed here as it’s the battle of the “Future’s” as Frankie Kazarian takes on Chris Sabin. Kazarian helped his partner Michael Shane get by Sonjay Dutt earlier, will Sabin have to beware of Shane helping Kazarian in the same way?

Frankie Kazarian (2-0-1) vs. Chris Sabin (1-2)

This one was fast-paced from the word go as Kazarian and Sabin trade moves back and forth non-stop. Sabin hits a beautiful step-up enziguri and then clotheslines Kazarian over the top to the floor. Shane comes over and helps Kazarian to his feet but both men are take out by a crazy Spaceman plancha by Sabin! The ref comes out and Sabin tosses Kazarian back in and gets a near-fall with a nice Tiger suplex. Sabin goes for a springboard dropkick but Kazarian swats him aside and hits his springboard back elbow. A quick belly to belly suplex and a slingshot into an elbowdrop from the apron gets a 2. A German suplex and a bridge gets another 2. Frankie then locks in his TazMission but Sabin runs and propels Kazarian face-first into the turnbuckles. He goes for his Cradle Shock but Kazarian escapes behind and hits old school version of the Future Shock, which is like the Eye of the Hurricane, that gets 2. Kazarian goes for his Wave of the Future but Sabin shoves him off, ducks a clothesline and springs off the middle rope into a swinging DDT! He picks Frankie up and hits his version of the Future Shock, the double leg cradle brainbuster! One, two, thr..no! Kazarian kicks out of the Future Shock! Sabin picks him up and goes for his not-very-often utilized double underhook piledriver but Frankie grabs an arm, twists out and hits the Wave of the Future out of nowhere! He covers, 1…2…NO! Sabin kicks out! What a back and forth battle here. Michael Shane gets on the apron to hold Sabin in place and Kazarian comes charging with a bicycle kick but Sabin moves and Shane gets knocked off the apron. The ref comes out and sends Shane to the back! Sabin rolls up Kazarian but the ref is late getting in and Kazarian kicks out at 2 and mows Sabin over with a clothesline. He boosts Sabin up and goes for the One Man Revolution but Sabin blocks, both men are wobbling precariously on top and both men fall and crotch themselves on opposite ropes! The ref double counts as both men get up at 8 and trade blows back and forth. Kazarian ducks a big high kick and goes for the Back to the Future electric chair suplex but Sabin slips out behind Kazarian, kick to the gut and picks him for a powerbomb but maneuvers Kazarian into a fireman’s carry and hits the Cradle Shock! The ref is in position, 1, 2, 3! Chris Sabin wins a great match!

    WINNER---Chris Sabin

    **** ¼

Sabin celebrates but he doesn’t see Michael Shane slip back into the ring! Shane waits, silently tuning up the band and as Sabin turns Shane leaps for a superkick but Sabin ducks at the last second and as Shane turns, Sabin scoops him up and hits the Cradle Shock on Shane as well! Sabin gets out of there quickly, he has outsmarted both Shane and Kazarian here tonight!

CM Punk is backstage with some comments about his match tonight against Low Ki.

Punk: “Tonight is a very important night for me. Tonight is perhaps the most loaded Rise of the Independents show yet. What many fans consider a dream match, CM Punk vs. Low Ki. Low Ki, we’ve met but ONE time before and you beat me. Tonight it’s my turn. You were the pioneer of Ring of Honor, and I have continued in that vein, and arguably, I have surpassed your success. That’s not by accident Low Ki. People have been asking me “How are you going to defend against Low Ki, he’ll just keep kicking you and chopping you until he just knocks you out.” And while that may be true, I have lasted over 3 hours in the ring with Samoa Joe in the past and I took everything he had. So if you think you can just kick the living shit out of me Low Ki, think again. You’ll tire yourself out before you knock me out. Remember that. I am CM Punk. I am Straight Edge. And tonight and every night, that still means I’m better than you.”

Strong words from CM Punk but first we have the “Epic Encounter” revisited. It’s Paul London versus the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson and it’s right now!

Paul London (2-0-1) vs. Bryan Danielson (3-0)

The opening minutes of this contest are very hotly contested but Danielson takes control, working over the neck of London. He works over London’s neck and upper back, first with a cravate and then a back suplex. London is able to connect with a spinning heel kick and then take control with a backbreaker. London then focuses on Danielson’s midsection, no doubt softening it up for his London Star Press. A fallaway slam connects and then London with a Lionsault for 2. Danielson cuts London off as he goes up top and hits a superplex. A snap DDT gets a 2 and a half. Danielson then scoops up London in a fireman’s carry and spins round and round with an airplane spin! About 15 rotations in he stops…and then spins the other way! He finally stops spinning and hits a Finley roll and then, dizzily, makes his way to the corner and up top, no doubt going for the diving headbutt but he is cut off by London. London is standing on the middle rope and hits Danielson with a few shots to the gut. He then scoops Danielson up and backflips holding onto Danielson with a moonsault fallaway slam! The fans applaud that move, London taking a page out of his fellow TWA student Fast Eddie’s book there! London is a little hurt too so he can’t cover right away. London gets up and hits the Waffle Face, Danielson again down on his stomach and face. London covers but only gets 2. London then goes up top and leaps off with a London Star Press but Danielson moves out of the way!

Danielson hits a series of old school scoop slams, 4 to be exact, and climbs up top and comes off with a diving headbutt! But he hurt his own midsection as well! He makes the cover but there was too much of a delay and London kicks out. Danielson now works the cravate and takes London over with a brutal cravate suplex! He covers but London’s foot is under the bottom rope. Danielson now picks London up in a Canadian backbreaker and then drops to his knees, driving his shoulder into London’s back! Cover but London kicks out at 2. Danielson now stands London up but facing away from him and hits 2 sick European uppercuts to the BACK of London’s neck! We saw him do that against Spanky! Danielson then goes for Cattle Mutilation but London fights it, grabbing the ropes. Danielson backs off and that’s exactly the opening London needs as he back kicks Danielson in the gut and hits his Legsweep DDT! They are both down and the ref starts the double count. At 8 they are both up and trade forearms back and forth, London surprisingly gets the upper hand with several shots. He goes for a kick, Danielson catches the leg and covers his head, expecting an enziguri but London hits the enziguri to Danielson’s ribs instead! London then tries an enziguri to the head but Danielson ducks it and hits a Dragon suplex! One, two, NO! London barely slides out but Danielson floats right over and locks in Cattle Mutilation! It’s hooked on tight and they are right in the center of the ring! Some fans are chanting “Tap! Tap! Tap!” while some are chanting “Please Don’t Tap!” But after about 20 seconds, London indeed taps out and Danielson gets the win in about 25 minutes to remain undefeated as of yet!

    WINNER---Bryan Danielson

    *** ¼

Danielson waits for London to recover and get up and the 2 shake hands, after all they did come up in the business together and are friends so that’s great to see.

Moving right on here we will have a first-time ever one on one meeting in professional wrestling as Chris Hero takes on the “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. These two almost did wrestle at the 2002 IWA Mid South Ted Petty Invitational Tournament as the winner of Daniels vs. CM Punk was to take on Hero in the semi-finals but it was Punk defeating Daniels on that night to advance, but now we will see the match that many people have been waiting to see for so long!

Chris Hero (1-2) vs. Christopher Daniels (2-1)

The set-up of this match is very similar to the last match as Daniels targets Hero’s midsection while Hero constantly works over Daniels’ neck. We all know about Daniels’ history with neck injuries. Remember his match with Mike Modest on Nitro? Daniels wrestled with a dead arm after botching a moonsault so he will always have that lingering injury to work past. Hero of course works over Daniels with many cravats but Daniels hits a leg lariat to break up that momentum. A nice delayed vertical suplex by Daniels, holding the much bigger Hero up and then driving him down. Hero regains control temporarily and goes for the Dislocator, where he has the victim on his shoulder and then spins them around by the arm into a Michinoku Driver of sorts, but as he spins Daniels, Daniels lands on his feet and hits the STO followed by the Best Moonsault Ever for a CLOSE 2 on Hero. Daniels locks in a Boston Crab, doing further damage to the rib area and then he drops an elbow to the back, followed by an Arabian Press on the back of Hero for a 2. Hero mounts a brief comeback when he reverses an attempted Angel’s Wings into a backdrop but as he goes for a lariat, Daniels ducks under the arm and hits a Blue Thunder Driver for a 2 and ¾. Daniels then hits a Flatliner for 2 again. He locks in a Crossface now, deviating from his game plan though so Hero easily makes it to the ropes. Perhaps frustration is starting to set in for Daniels?

Daniels pulls Hero up and goes for a uranage but Hero elbows out, kick to the gut and hits a somersault neckbreaker. Hero with a Concrete Crash and goes for a Hangman’s Clutch but Daniels squirms to the ropes. Hero pulls Daniels to the corner, sits on the top buckle and locks in a cravate and then somersaults, turning Daniels in a 360 and then driving him face first with the Cravate Cutter! He covers, one, two, no, Daniels has his foot on the ropes. Hero hits a German suplex and holds on, going for the Hero’s Welcome and he turns for it but Daniels holds on, calls for Last Rites but Hero hits him in the head to break it, goes for a Cravate suplex but Daniels escapes that, hits a step-up enziguri and then hits LAST RITES out of nowhere. The cover, 1…2…thr…NO! Hero kicks out of Last Rites! If Daniels would have worked on the head and neck area more he would have definitely had him there! Daniels calls for Angel’s Wings but Hero twists out, charges, Daniels tries to elevate him with a backdrop but Hero goes up and over and hits his Hero’s Welcome! He hooks both of Daniels’ legs, ONE…TWO…NO! Daniels kicks out of the Hero’s Welcome! Both men kick out of the other’s Roll the Dice variation! What is it going to take to beat either man? The fans rally both men up and they trade shots back and forth, Hero goes for a roaring elbow, Daniels catches the arm and goes for another Last Rites but Hero escapes and locks in a standing version of the Hangman’s Clutch! Daniels fights and fights to reach the ropes and eventually headbutts his way out of the hold but Hero runs off the ropes and Yakuza kicks Daniels down! He then locks in the Hangman’s Clutch again! Fans start chanting “Tap! Tap!” but Daniels battles hard and reaches the ropes again! Hero gets frustrated and pulls Daniels back into the middle of the ring and locks in the Hangman’s Clutch 2, which is in the form of a Crossface instead of the usual STF variation! Daniels tries to fight it but realizes he has nowhere to go and TAPS OUT! Hero wins!

    WINNER---Chris Hero

    *** ½

Hero struggles to his feet, holding his ribs as Daniels pulls himself up. The two come face to face in a staredown, they might go again! But Daniels proves that theory wrong and extends his hand, which Hero accepts! Rare show of sportsmanship there by Daniels! The camera pans to the aisle way and The Messiah is shown watching with a smirk on his face, you gotta know he enjoyed watching Daniels tap out! And in 2 weeks one of those two men will no longer be a part of this tournament!

It’s time for our final match of the evening, we’ve already seen two incredible matches that could have main evented this show but we still have the big one, Low Ki vs. CM Punk!

Low Ki (2-1) vs. CM Punk (3-0)

These two surprisingly seemingly skip right over the feeling out process and go right for the heavy artillery as Low Ki chops the shit out Punk in the corner and then whips him to the other corner and hits a big running Yakuza-style kick to the face! He goes right for a Ki Krusher but Punk knees Ki in the head as he lifts Punk! He dropkicks the knee of Ki and then runs off the ropes and connects with a Shining Wizard! He covers, 1, 2, no! Punk shoves Ki into the corner and beats him down and hits some boot scrapes and then runs off the ropes for the big one but Ki stands up and takes Punk’s head off with a sidekick! Punk rolls out to the floor as Ki goes up top. Ki then hits a Phoenix splash to the floor on a STANDING Punk! The fans chant “Holy Shit” at that. They brawl around the ringside area, Punk gets the advantage and hits Welcome to Chicago on the floor, the double arm backbreaker! He gets in the ring and runs, hitting a tope suicida through the ropes on Ki! Punk rolls Ki in and gets on the apron. He slingshots in with a somersault senton Eddie Guerrero-style for a 2. A neckbreaker onto the knee and a split-legged moonsault get another 2 count for Punk. Punk goes for his hammerlock STO but Low Ki ducks, dropkicks the knee out and hits 2 stiff kicks to the chest and then the knockout blow to the head and he pauses to look around as the fans cheer him on! He snapmares Punk over and hits the Muta-ish Power Drive elbowdrop for a 2. He whips Punk to the corner and hits a brutal running Koppo Kick and then he boosts Punk up on the top buckle backwards. He then climbs up there also and locks in a Dragon sleeper and then falls backwards so both men are hanging upside down in the corner, that’s the Hanging Dragon! Unfortunately he can’t get a submission this way and he only has a 5 count from the ref until he is forced to break. He pulls Punk into the middle of the ring but Punk kicks out at 2.

Ki keeps trying to lift Punk up but Punk isn’t cooperating, continually just ducking down and covering up. So Ki hits a few Mongolian chops to the back and as Punk lowers his guard, Ki yanks Punk up by the hair and unleashes some sickening Kawada kicks to the face! He then springs off the middle rope with the Tidal Wave! He whips Punk to the corner and goes for the cartwheel kick, the Tidal Krush but Punk moves and Ki lands on his feet on the middle rope, Punk pounds Ki on the back a few times and quickly goes onto the apron and climbs up top with Ki, he’s going for the Pepsi Plunge! He hooks the arms but Ki breaks out and they trade chops on the top rope, Ki gets the upper hand and hooks him for the Ki Krusher, they’re gonna die!! But Punk is able to block the Ki Krusher and shove Ki down to the mat! Punk then hits a flying legdrop! Cover, 1…2...no! Ki kicks out! Punk slams the mat in anger and frustration. He goes for his Devil Lock DDT, Ki twists out and hits a leaping enziguri kick to the head, Punk is wobbly. Ki whips Punk to the corner and this time connects with the Tidal Krush! Punk staggers out of the corner and Ki scoops Punk onto his shoulders in Ki Krusher position but then runs towards a corner, smashing Punk into the turnbuckles with a Krush Rush and then to the opposite corner with another Krush Rush! He then runs and plants Punk with a Ki Krusher but he doesn’t go for the cover and instead grabs Punk and turns him over into a Dragon Clutch! Punk reaches out and discovers he won’t be able to reach the ropes and as Ki wrenches back even harder, Punk taps out! What a match!

    WINNER---Low Ki

    **** ½

Low Ki uses the ropes to hold himself up as Punk is helped to his feet by the referee. Punk gently pushes the ref away and Ki approaches him and they shake hands to end the show.

I guess that means I have good booking if it's so unpredictable right? ;) I really enjoyed writing Punk vs. Low Ki, I was thinking about what I could do for the basic storyline of the match and I just watched the IWA Mid South 2004 Revolution Strong Style Tournament, the finals with Samoa Joe vs. B-Boy and their match was like 5 minutes long but they just went full blast the whole time and I wanted my Punk/Low Ki match to be like that, only longer and I think it turned out nice :P But enough of my yammering, hope you all enjoyed the show!

  13. Rise of the Independents, November 6th, 2004: Battlefield

We open the show right off with ROH Pure Champion John Walters coming to the ring. He is followed by his opponent in this upcoming match, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles. This should be an intense, hard-hitting match-up!

John Walters (2-1) vs. AJ Styles (3-0)

Walters tries to keep AJ grounded but AJ is able to match Walters’ in the ground work department and they are at a stand-still. AJ takes control after leapfrogging Walters and hitting that patented dropkick. He hits the Tiger Wall flip off Walters in the corner and goes for a monkey flip but Walters blocks it and hits a belly to belly suplex. He works over AJ’s back with a backbreaker and back suplex, perhaps softening up for a Sharpshooter. Walters tries the Hurricane DDT but AJ escapes it, catches Walters’ arm and hits a backbreaker, into a gutbuster and finally into an STO/backbreaker combination. Tremendous string of moves by AJ! That gets a 2 and a half count. He goes for that moonsault into an inverted DDT but Walters blocks and hits his piggyback stunner! He locks in the Sharpshooter! AJ struggles and finally gets to the ropes after about 20 seconds but his back is damaged! Walters continues to work over the back by pushing AJ into the ropes and then hitting forearms to the back as he rebounds. He goes for this a third time but AJ elbows Walters in the face and follows with that beautiful Pele kick of his! Both men are slow to get up and trade shots, AJ gets the advantage and goes for a brainbuster, Walters escapes and tries the same thing but AJ goes up and over, tries a spin kick but Walters sidesteps and hits the Lung Blower, the double knees right in the back of AJ! He covers, one…two…thr..no! AJ barely kicks out! Walters again goes for the Sharpshooter but AJ holds onto the ropes. Walters then tries a Concrete Crash but AJ pounds down on Walters’ back and attempts a Styles Clash but his injured back won’t allow him to pick Walters up! He favors his back and turns into a big Walters lariat. Walters gets him up and goes for the Hurricane DDT but AJ escapes and takes Walters’ head off with a big discus lariat! He covers, 1, 2, 3 and that’s enough to get the win!

    WINNER---AJ Styles

    *** ¼

The two shake hands after the match as perhaps Walters gave AJ more of a fight than he expected! Nonetheless AJ climbs to 4-0!

On to the next match here as Xavier battles Trent Acid. Normally this would be a contest of “Who can out-cheat the other?” However, recently Xavier has been using his actual skills as opposed to taking shortcuts to win matches. We’ll see what kind of strategy he chooses to employ against the man from South Philly, Japan here tonight.

Xavier (0-3) vs. Trent Acid (1-2)

Xavier starts out wrestling circles around Acid and Acid goes to the outside, frustrated. He threatens to leave but the fans start chanting “Pussy” at him so he reconsiders. He comes in and goes for several cheap shots but again Xavier is one step ahead of him. Acid gets mad and kicks the ropes and charges at Xavier for a Yakuza kick but Xavier catches the leg and tosses Acid over with a suplex out of that position! He gets Acid in the corner and hits his high knee strikes and then sits Acid in the corner to hit the big slingshot knee. He hits his inverted Samoan drop for a 2 and then a nice military press into a fallaway slam for another 2. He goes up top but gets crotched by Acid. Acid goes for the Acid Bomb out of the corner but Xavier turns it into an inverted DDT and Acid rolls outside. Xavier goes up top and hits a 450 to the floor on a STANDING Acid! They go back inside and Xavier goes for Kiss Your X Goodbye but Acid escapes and hits a superkick. He whips Xavier to the corner and hits the running double knees. Xavier staggers out and Acid with a kick to the gut, one to the chest and then a Roaring elbow! He then finishes it off with a Tumbleweed off the second turnbuckle and gets 2 and ¾! Acid goes up top but misses the Bad Trip twisting splash. Xavier goes for the X Breaker but Acid rolls through and hits a Blue Thunder Driver for a 2 and ¾ again. Xavier is able to come back with Kiss Your X Goodbye out of nowhere though and both men are down. The fans rally them up at around the 7 count and they trade shots, Acid gets control, goes for a Yakuza kick but Xavier ducks and hits his own Yakuza kick! Cover, one…two…NO! Acid barely gets a shoulder up! Xavier goes for the X Breaker, Acid knows it’s coming and blocks, tries a Roaring elbow but Xavier blocks that and hits the X Breaker! It’s over! One, two, NO! Acid’s foot is draped over the bottom rope, what a heartbreaker! Xavier pulls Acid out of the corner and goes up top, you know what’s next. He jumps for the 450 and Acid moves but Xavier lands on his feet and rolls onto his feet, they charge each other, Xavier with a sunset flip, 1-2, Acid rolls out and then somersaults over Xavier, 1-2, Xavier bridges up and into a backslide, 1-2, Acid escapes and does an Oklahoma roll, 1-2, Xavier out now with a Magistral cradle, 1-2 but again Acid gets out! The fans applaud as they both get up and Xavier goes for a knee to the midsection but Acid floats over into a schoolboy and PUTS HIS FEET ON THE ROPES, 1-2-3! No, Xavier has the match stolen from him! The cheers of the crowd from the earlier exchange quickly turn to boos as Acid had to resort to cheating to beat Xavier!

    WINNER---Trent Acid

We see Red warming up backstage as his opponent Mark Briscoe approaches him. They slap hands.

Mark: “Hey man I just wanted to make sure there’s no hard feelings going into this match. I know you kinda blame me and Jay for bustin up your knee but I hope you understand we had to do what it took to win those tag titles, haha, and you and AJ STILL beat us.”

Red: “Nah don’t worry bout it man, it’s all good now.”

Red proves his point by stretching out his knee in different directions.

Mark: “Ok, well I’ll see ya out there then.”

Red: “Aight, let’s have a good match tonight.”

Mark leaves and Red watches him go but the camera stays on Red and he sits down and looks at his knee, gingerly prodding it, is that a look of worry on his face?

Meanwhile Mark’s brother Jay Briscoe makes his way to the ring, followed by his opponent BJ Whitmer, accompanied to the ring by Allison Danger. This should be a very hard-hitting match!

Jay Briscoe (2-1) vs. BJ Whitmer (2-1)

This one is STIFF with a capital S.T.I.F.F. Whitmer has his nose busted open early on. (How many times has this guy’s nose BEEN busted?) Whitmer whips Jay to the corner and charges in with a knee and hits a suplex, holds on and hits a Northern Lights suplex for 2 in that trademark combo of his. Jay comes back with a Mafia kick but Whitmer is able to elevate Jay to the floor with a back body drop. BJ now charges and hits a tope on Jay on the floor. Back in, Jay elbows out of a Dragon suplex attempt and hits a high angle Falcon Arrow. He goes up top and goes for a Cannonball Senton but BJ gets the knees up! Ouch! Whitmer goes to work on the back with brutal forearms. He locks his legs in and lifts Jay in the air with a Mexican Surfboard and then locks in a Dragon sleeper from that position! So much torque on Jay’s back, he might give it up! But he doesn’t and BJ lets go. He snapmares Jay over and hits some brutal kicks to the spine and then goes for a running kick but Jay ducks under it and rolls onto his feet and catches BJ with a dropkick on the way back. He snapmares BJ over now and hits a couple kicks to the back of his own and then a brutal running Mafia kick to a seated Whitmer! Jay gets him up and tries the J-Driller but BJ blocks and goes behind Jay, tries a Dragon suplex, Jay keeps blocking so BJ hits some hard forearms to the back of the neck but Jay still holds on for dear life. So BJ winds up and hits a SICK sounding roaring forearm to the back of Jay’s neck and then finally hits a Dragon suplex but HOLDS ON and brings him up. He then puts one of Jay’s arms between his legs and keeps a half nelson on and KILLS Jay with a DRAGON EXPLODER DANGERROOOUUUUUSSSS!! A new move by Whitmer and it is absolutely devastating! He turns Jay over and the ref counts the 3, big win for BJ Whitmer!

    WINNER---BJ Whitmer

    *** ¼

Whitmer may have just upped his stock in this tournament because if he can hit that move on all of his opponents, he will be unstoppable!

Up next we have the hard striker B-Boy against the technical wizard Matt Stryker.

    B-Boy (1-2) vs. Matt Stryker (0-3)

Stryker has definitely done his homework as he keeps the striker B-Boy very much grounded in this match, working on the arm of B-Boy. He utilizes many versions of the cross armbreaker but B-Boy gets loose and hits a big step-up enziguri. He hits that Siakolypse-style snap neckbreaker for a 2. A big palm strike knocks Styrker into the corner but he bails out of the ring as B-Boy comes charging in for the Facelift dropkick. The fans boo and start chanting “Fuck You Stryker.” He ignores them and eases back into the ring, luring B-Boy in and then pulling him by the trunks into the corner, shoulder-first. He hits a Divorce Court and hits a sort of Dragon screw whip, but on the arm, driving it into the canvas. He then locks on what looks like a Stryker Lock but on the arm! What innovation by Stryker! B-Boy writhes in pain but gets a foot on the rope to break it up, but the damage is done. His left arm has to be hurting. Stryker stays on B-Boy and stomps on the shoulder. He then tries to lock in a Fujiwara armbar but B-Boy rolls out, ducks a clothesline and hits some hard forearms with his good right arm. He dropkicks Stryker’s knee to take his legs out and goes for a Shining Wizard but Stryker evades it and hits a Yakuza kick to the arm! B-Boy is down again in pain. Stryker deviates from his game a bit and goes for his Death Valley Driver but B-Boy escapes and hits a sitout inverted DDT to bide him some time. The ref counts to 6 and both men get up and B-Boy ducks a swing and hits a one-armed Death Valley Driver, Stryker’s own move used against him! The cover gets 2 and a half! B-Boy calls for the end now and goes for the Cross Special Brainbuster but his arm won’t let him execute the move and Stryker hits a leg lariat. A whip to the ropes and a powerslam by Stryker but now he gets cocky and plays to the fans. He should be going to that arm! But instead Stryker goes for a Lionsault and misses! B-Boy stands up and backs up as Stryker gets to his knees, BAM! Shining Wizard! B-Boy covers, one, two, three! B-Boy may have a weakness against strong mat grapplers but if you deviate from that game he makes you pay and Stryker just found that out, B-Boy evens his record at 2-2!

    WINNER---B-Boy

    *** ¼

Backstage are Allison Danger and Dan Maff.

Danger: “Tonight, Dan Maff shows Samoa Joe who the best “big man” in this tournament really is. Samoa Joe, last time you faced Dan Maff in the ring, his mind was elsewhere and he was NOT mentally 100%! The day before he challenged you for the Ring of Honor title, his father passed away Joe, his FATHER! And he still almost took that title from you. Tonight it’s gonna be different, I can feel it, I-”

Maff: “YOU CAN FEEL IT? I CAN FEEL IT DANGER! SAMOA JOE, TONIGHT I GUARANTEE I WILL BEAT YOU WITHIN AN INCH OF YOUR LIFE OR I’LL DAMN SURE DIE TRYING! I pinned you in a 6 man tag match…but that ain’t good enough. Samoa Joe, I swear to you, I swear to God, I SWEAR ON MY FATHER’S GRAVE, I will do everything in my power, even if I have to hoist you up on my shoulders and break your neck with the Burning Hammer, I WILL PIN YOUR SHOULDERS TO THE MAT AND PROVE THAT I AM THE FUCKING MAN! SAMOA JOE, YOU ARE THE NEXT TARGET OF THE BURNING HAMMER, and you are the next target of the Hired Assassin, Dan Maff.”

Danger and Maff stare into the camera as we go back to the ring.

Next we have 2 friends battling it out here as Mark Briscoe takes on the Amazing Red. These two made their names in CZW initially and are also noted for their amazing series of tag matches in Ring of Honor, Mark teaming with his brother Jay and Red’s partner being AJ Styles. This one will be fast-paced!

Mark Briscoe (2-1) vs. Amazing Red (0-3)

Briscoe controls this from the outset, using power moves to subdue Red’s high-flying abilities. Red realizes he has to change his strategy up and kicks away at Mark’s legs and then as Mark lets his guard against high-flying moves down, Red strikes with a flurry of quick ranas, armdrags, etc. and Mark bails to the outside. Red comes charging but sees Mark get out of the way so he swings his legs out 6-1-9 style and back into the ring. Mark is around the side of the ring and points to his head, saying “look at me I’m so smart” but he gets bowled over by a somersault plancha from Red! Back in and Red hits a nice DDT that spikes Mark and then a springboard elbowdrop, big air time on that one. 2 count. Red goes up top again but Mark meets him up there. They fight up top and Red tries to dump Mark to the outside, Mark lands on the apron though and springboards and brings Red into the ring with an Ace Crusher, big move by Mark! He waits to make the cover and Red is able to get his shoulder up. He whips Red to the ropes and hits a leg lariat. He tries for his Cut-Throat Driver but Red escapes and hits a spinning front kick. He goes up top and goes for the Infrared but Mark moves out of the way! Mark goes out and springboards in for a dropkick but misses. He retreats to the corner to get up and Red comes charging in and steps up Mark with a couple dropkicks Liu Kang-style! He then scoops Mark up on his shoulders and hits an F-5!! Red just F-5’ed Mark Briscoe! Red now stands and hits the Red Star Press! One…two…thr…no!! Mark Briscoe barely kicks out. Red senses the end is near and tries for Code Red but Mark blocks it so Red gets off Mark’s back, Mark runs off the ropes, Red ducks down as Mark leaps over him, Red now with a leapfrog but he twists his knee on the way down! Red is down and in a ton of pain as the ref checks on him. He holds Mark Briscoe back but eventually Mark makes his way to Red’s side, it looks like we have a serious injury here. After a minute or two, Mark and the ref help Red up and are going to carry him out of the ring but Red elbows Mark in the gut and then leaps on his back and brings him over with the Code Red! The ref counts, 1…2…3! Red just pulled the wool over everybody’s eyes and stole a huge win in the process!

    WINNER---Amazing Red

    *** ¼

Red gets up with a smile on his face while Mark just looks stunned. Mark gets up and looks quite angry with Red but Red offers a handshake and Mark finally accepts.

Moving right on, here comes Teddy Hart’s best friend and temporary substitution in the tournament, “The Man Who Defies Gravity” Jack Evans. He hops into the ring and does his breakdancing schtick for the fans. We will find out momentarily who his opponent and Donovan Morgan’s replacement is but first Evans has the mic:

Evans: “Haha Rise of the Independents, whassup? (mixed reaction) “The man who defies gravity is in the house and whoever is replacing Donovan Morgan as my opponent best watch out ‘fore they encounter death from above. That’s right, I ain’t scared, whoever this guy is better bring his stuff cuz I’ma annihilate him, so bring him out here!”

Evans and everyone else wait about 10 seconds until “Born of a Broken Man” by Rage Against the Machine hits and Evans’ eyes go as wide as saucers as he realizes his opponent is his fellow Generation Next member, the “Wrestling Machine” Austin Aries!! The fans give Aries a VERY warm welcome as Aries gets in the ring. The fans chant “Aries! Aries!” Evans timidly comes face to face with Aries and the 2 shake hands and hug each other to begin what should be a very interesting and exciting match!

Jack Evans (0-3) vs. Austin Aries (2-1)

Evans actually starts out by befuddling Aries with his unorthodox style, hitting a spinning dropkick and a spinning front kick ala Amazing Red to knock Aries to the floor and it doesn’t take Evans long to start flying as he hits an amazing springboard 720 moonsault to the floor on Aries!! The fans chant “Holy Shit” as Evans throws Aries back in and follows. He scoops Aries up and slams him down and hits a standing 360 Shooting Star Press and then a standing Infrared for a 2 count on Aries. He whips Aries to the corner and runs it but gets a boot to the face for his trouble. Aries then grabs Evans in a Uranage position and brings Evans gut-first down onto his knee and then hits an STO and then quickly stands and hits that swinging power drive elbowdrop of his and gets 2. Aries then lifts him and goes for a brainbuster but Evans goes up and over and hits a Michinoku Driver on Aries. He then hits a top rope Lionsault for a 2 and ¾. He calls for the end and goes for a Corkscrew 630 Splash (!) but misses! Aries then hits a vicious sidewalk slam that ends in more of a head drop, completely folding Evans in half! Aries then hits an equally vicious brainbuster and then heads up top and hits his 450 Splash and gets the 3 count on Evans for an impressive debut win!

    WINNER---Austin Aries

    ***

Aries looks over his fallen teammate and then just leaves the ring! It’s obvious that Aries isn’t messing around, he’s in this tournament to win it all!

Our semi-main event is next as the veteran Jerry Lynn takes on the “Notorious 187” Homicide!

Jerry Lynn (2-1) vs. Homicide (3-0)

These two start off with a nice chain wrestling sequence that ends with Homicide dropkicking Lynn out to the floor. He runs for his Tope Con Hilo but Jerry meets him with a forearm as Homicide sticks his head between the ropes! Jerry gets up and jumps up, legdropping the back of Homicide’s head and Homicide falls to the arena floor. Lynn gets back in and then hits a pescado on Homicide. Back in, Jerry is in control and goes for a Tornado DDT but it’s too early as Homicide pushes him off, blocks a lariat and hits a Koji Cutter. He snapmares Lynn over and hits some stiff kicks to the back and then a brainbuster on Lynn for a 2. He locks in an early STF but Lynn gets to the ropes. Homicide with a whip to the corner and a running forearm and as Lynn slumps down, Homicide runs off the ropes and hits that big knee strike! He boosts Lynn up top and brings him off with a Frankensteiner for a 2 and a half. He goes for a Cop Killa but Lynn escapes, German suplex with a bridge for a 2. He whips Homicide to the corner and comes in with a clothesline and then a bulldog. Inverted DDT gets a 2. Lynn goes for a TKO, ‘Cide escapes, kick to the gut, tries a piledriver, Lynn lifts him up and plants him with a Kryptonite Krunch for a 2 and ¾! Almost had him there. Lynn goes for the Cradle Piledriver, Homicide backdrops him but Lynn tries a sunset flip, Homicide rolls backwards and onto his feet and goes for a Shining Wizard but Lynn catches him out of the attempt and hits a sitout powerbomb! One, two, thr..no! Lynn almost ended Homicide’s unbeaten streak there! Lynn goes for the kill with a Tombstone but Homicide escapes, tries for a Tenzan Tombstone Driver but Lynn also escapes and goes for a clothesline, Homicide catches Lynn’s arm and twists into position for a Cop Killa but Lynn backflips out, scoops Homicide up for a TKO again, Homicide again escapes, goes for one of those devastating Lariats but Lynn ducks, goes for his own clothesline but Homicide ducks that and gets some speed going and takes Lynn’s head off with a Lariat! He turns Lynn over, 1-2-3 and that’s it!

    WINNER---Homicide

    *** ½

Homicide helps his fellow veteran up and shakes his hand and raises his arm but Lynn pulls his arm down and raises Homicide’s as he was the victor in the match. Great show of respect from two of the sport’s finest.

It’s main event time as the ROH World champ and the recently crowned IWA Mid South 2004 Revolution Strong Style Tournament winner Samoa Joe takes on the “Hired Assassin” Dan Maff.

Samoa Joe (2-1) vs. Dan Maff (2-1) (w/Allison Danger)

This match starts out with a ridiculously stiff exchange of chops from these two monsters, Maff surprisingly gets the early advantage and bends Joe over and double chops him on the back and then a knife-edge chop to the back of the neck! That angers Joe and he responds by snapmaring Maff over himself and hitting the chop to the back, the kick to the chest and the kneedrop but Maff gets right up, ducks a Joe chop and hits a huge lariat, knocking Joe right off his feet! Maff then hits that Stiffest Elbow in the Business but Joe gets right back up too! He grabs Maff and hits several knees to the gut and chest and then the Thousand Hand Slap and finally an enziguri to take Maff down! What an exchange of strikes! Joe whips Maff and goes for a big boot but Maff ducks Joe and hits a few MORE brutal chops and whips Joe into the corner. Maff charges in with an avalanche in the corner and then in with a back splash. Joe slumps down to a sitting position and you know what’s coming, the Cannonball! Joe rolls outside and Maff comes sailing through the top and middle ropes with a tope suicida on Joe! The fans rally the two back up and they brawl around the ring area. Maff whips Joe HARD into the guardrail but Joe reverses when Maff tries it again. Joe sits Maff in a chair and chops him a few times for good measure. The fans start to sing and Joe hits the Ole Ole Kick! Back in the ring now and Joe hits a powerbomb and holds for a pin, Maff kicks out at 2 and Joe transitions right into that STF! Maff is too close to the ropes though and the hold is broken. Joe goes to whip Maff to the corner but it’s reversed and Maff tries another avalanche, WRONG MOVE, Joe plants him with an STO and Maff rolls outside now. Joe waits for him to get to his feet and then comes diving through the ropes with an elbow suicida, right out of Misawa’s playbook! He then sits Maff in another chair and hits his 2nd Ole Ole Kick of the match, just for shits and giggles. Back in he gets a 2, Maff isn’t ready to roll over and die just yet.

Joe snapmares Maff over and chops him in the back and hits a kick to the chest, going for this combo again. But as he runs to the ropes, Maff quickly gets up, Joe sees Maff up and goes for a lariat but Maff ducks and drops the big man right on his head with a backdrop driver, DANGEROOUUSSS!! He covers, this could be it, One, two, thr..no! Joe kicks out! Maff gets Joe up and goes for that deadly half nelson suplex of his but Joe blocks, goes behind Maff and hits a German suplex and HOLDS ON, going for that Chimera-plex combo, but Maff blocks the Dragon and hits a Dragon suplex of his own, Joe right on his head! Maff keeps something of a bridge and the ref counts, 1…2…but Joe’s body weight and the angle of his body causes him to fold over and his shoulders come off the mat. Tough break for Maff there! Maff gets up and does his taunt for the Burning Hammer, he’s calling for it, can he get the huge Samoan up for it? He lifts Joe up and hoists him on his shoulders, he might hit it, but no Joe slides off and locks in the Choke Sleeper! He wraps his legs around Maff and brings him down, I don’t think Maff has anywhere to go! He struggles but his movements get more feeble and then cease. The ref checks Maff’s arm and it drops once…it drops twice, last time and it…….STAYS UP! Maff is still in it as the fans rally him back to his feet, he gets to a vertical base now and backs Joe into the corner but Joe holds onto the hold! Maff rams him back again and this time Joe lets go. Maff staggers into the middle of the ring and Joe runs at him for a lariat but Maff hits a Samoan drop! A cover now, 1…2…NO! Joe is still alive, what a match this has been! They both get up and Maff tries for a half nelson suplex again but Joe armdrags him over, Maff rolls through onto his feet and charges at Joe but Joe lifts him up and drives him down with the Island Driver! He covers, 1…2…3! Samoa Joe gets the win in a hellaciously competitive match!

    *** ½

Samoa Joe can barely stand and we see Maff get to his feet as the show cuts out.
