Rise of the Independents October 30th, 2004: A Score to Settle

A video package hypes the matches that we will see tonight as we come on the air. Like usual we are starting off with a match as the 1-0-1 Paul London will take on the equally high-flying 0-2 Sonjay Dutt! London went to a draw with Super Dragon and defeated Michael Shane while Dutt has lost to both Chris Sabin and Bryan Danielson.

Paul London (1-0-1) vs. Sonjay Dutt (0-2)

This starts out as expected, fast and furious as Dutt takes London to the floor and hits his suicidal spaceman corkscrew plancha! Back in Dutt gets a couple nearfalls with a Sonjay Star Press and a spinning heel kick but London comes back with a trademark Dropsault. A fallaway slam and slingshot legdrop get a 2 for London. Dutt comes back with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors, going twice around London! He has London in the corner and starts punching down on him but London pulls him out of the corner and hits a sitout powerbomb! He goes up top for maybe a London Star Press but Dutt grabs him and press slams him off ala Ricky Steamboat to Ric Flair. He hits a boot to the gut, off the ropes with a kick to the head, a facecrusher to the knee and he goes to hit the neckbreaker to finish the Calcut Cut combo but London ducks the attempted neckbreaker and hits one of his own and both men are down! The fans rally them back to their feet and London takes control, Irish whip and ducks down, Dutt hops over London, London leapfrogs Dutt on his way back and hits a spinning heel kick followed by another Dropsault! London then hits his legsweep DDT for a close 2 count! He calls for the end and grabs Dutt’s arms, going for the Waffle Face but when he lifts him Dutt turns it into a victory roll for 2 and ¾! He then catches London with a boot and the Indian Summer, his version of the muscle buster! He goes up top for his Hindu Press but London moves out of the way! London now goes up top but Dutt meets him up there and goes for a top rope Indian Summer but London stops him and pushes him off and immediately leaps off with the London Star Press and Dutt barely has time to hit the mat before London squashes him! What a move and it gets the 3 count! London is on a role, and these fans let him know it as they are on their feet after that breath-taking move!

    WINNER---Paul London

    ****

The two high fliers come to the middle of the ring and shake hands in a nice show of sportsmanship.

Up next we will see the first of 2 grudge matches tonight as the war between CM Punk and Colt Cabana, the Second City Saints, and Christopher Daniels & The Messiah rages on. Cabana prevented Messiah from interfering in the Punk vs. Daniels match 2 weeks ago and that ultimately led to Punk defeating Daniels. Right now we’ll see the 1-1 Christopher Daniels, who has beaten Doug Williams and fallen to CM Punk, take on “Classic” Colt Cabana, also at 1-1 after beating Chris Hero but losing to Low Ki.

Christopher Daniels (1-1) vs. Colt Cabana (1-1)

These two waste no time taking it to each other with FISTS OF FIRE, FISTS OF FIRE. Daniels whips Colt off the ropes and goes for a leg lariat but Colt stops and Daniels crashes down. Colt then whips Daniels and hits his own leg lariat. Whip to the corner and a clothesline and then a powerslam by Colt for the first near fall of the match. He might be softening up the back for the Colt 45 here. He hits a backbreaker and stretches Daniels out over his knee. He then whips Daniels and goes for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker but Daniels lands on his feet Ultimo Dragon-style and hits a nice step-up enziguri and a Flatliner and then catches his breath. He plants Colt with an STO and then hits an Arabian Press for 2. He whips Colt to the corner but misses a clothesline and crashes into the turnbuckles. Colt with a few shots, whips Daniels to the opposite corner and hits the double knees to the chest and then gets him in a powerbomb position and stomps down, doing damage to the ears, and follows up with a big clothesline. He comes off the ropes with a kneelift to the side of the head and then scoops Daniels into a bearhug before taking him from there into a DDT! He covers for just a 2 but Daniels is in trouble! Cabana scoops Daniels up, looking for that Kryptonite Krunch on the knee but Daniels turns it into a sunset flip for 2. They get up and Daniels charges but Colt ducks down and picks him up and this time connects with the Kryptonite Krunch on the knee. 2 and a half on the pin attempt. Colt calls for the Colt 45 and butterflies the arms but Daniels twists behind Colt and hits the Blue Thunder Driver for a 2 and a half! Daniels calls for Angel’s Wings and goes for it but Colt twists out as Daniels did, goes for a short arm clothesline but Daniels catches the arm and hits a uranage slam. He yells out “Best Moonsault Ever” and goes for his double jump moonsault but Colt moves out of the way and the double count begins. They get up at 7 and trade shots with Colt getting the advantage. He runs off the ropes but is tripped up by the Messiah! The ref admonishes Messiah and Daniels tries to take advantage but Cabana maneuvers around and rolls up Daniels but the ref isn’t looking! That was at least a 6 count! Colt lets go and punches Messiah off the apron. Daniels again comes at Colt but Colt sees him and clotheslines him down. Colt then goes for the Colt 45 but as he lifts Daniels up Daniels’ feet catch the ref in the face! Colt turns around with Daniels on his shoulder, looking for the approval of the fans but Messiah comes in and throws powder in the eyes of Cabana! He lets Daniels go and Daniels is quick to capitalize and hit Last Rites! Not this way! The ref comes to and counts, One, two, three! Daniels steals a win over Cabana!

    WINNER---Christopher Daniels

    *** ¼

After the match Messiah is helping Daniels up when CM Punk comes running down and into the ring. He takes down both Messiah and Daniels with a series of right hands and then clotheslines both men over the top to the floor! He then grabs a bottle of water from the timekeeper’s table and tends to Cabana, who still can’t see. Daniels & Messiah retreat as the trainer comes out and tends to Cabana. Punk gets up on the ropes and points at Daniels & Messiah, jaw-jacking with them back and forth. He yells that he is going to kill Messiah later tonight. That should be an intense fight!

Backstage Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian are standing together, which is odd because they will be FACING each other later on. Let’s hear what they have to say:

Shane: “Are you people surprised to see Frankie Kazarian, The Coolest Man Alive Today, and myself, the “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels’…COUSIN Michael Shane co-existing before our match? Well get used to it because we are a unit and a singles round-robin tournament isn’t going to break us up that easily. Now tonight we have to face each other because everyone has to face everyone in the tournament. But that’s ok because we are going to shove it in everybody’s faces and have THE BEST MATCH on the card tonight, just because we can! This man Frankie Kazarian is on a hot streak. He has defeated BOTH Super Dragon and that loser wannabe Spanky. I myself have been cheated out of 2 victories, first against “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson and then against that jackass Paul London and he had to use a ladder to beat me. They are just jealous that I was the prize student of the Texas Wrestling Academy and they were just a few steps below me. But tonight, Shane and Kazarian show the world and the rest of the jabronies in this tournament who is running the show.”

Kazarian: “And if you don’t like it, then that’s just not cool.”

Well up next we’ll see a first-time ever match in professional wrestling as Super Dragon battles “The Future” Chris Sabin. This should be an outstanding fast-paced contest. Super Dragon is 0-1-1 thus far after a draw with Paul London and a loss to Frankie Kazarian, while Sabin is 1-1 after beating Sonjay Dutt but losing to Spanky.

Super Dragon (0-1-1) vs. Chris Sabin (1-1)

Super Dragon controls this match from the get go as he is a much harder hitter than Sabin. It’s also hard for Sabin to use his speed to get an advantage as Super Dragon as just as quick as he is as well. Dragon has some nice stiff offense to subdue Sabin until Sabin hits the Sabinalizer, the uranage backbreaker. Dragon comes back with a big spinning heel kick and utilizes a brutal Curb Stomp! He gets Sabin in the corner and starts chopping and forearming him, the Violence Party! He runs off the ropes as Sabin staggers out of the corner and goes for a huge lariat but Sabin ducks and hits a step-up enziguri to knock Dragon to the floor. He then hits a big corkscrew to take Dragon out! Sabin tosses Dragon in and gets on the apron but Dragon meets him with a forearm. Dragon then runs off the ropes but Sabin springboards and hits a dropkick on Dragon ¾ the way across the ring! That draws some nice applause but Dragon is able to kick out at 2 and a half. An Over Easy gets another 2. He goes for the Cradle Shock but Dragon slips out behind and hits a Dragon suplex but Sabin kicks out at 2 and ¾! Dragon goes for the Supernatural Driver but Sabin escapes that and German suplexes Dragon and stands and bridges over Dragon in a Mexican-style pin but it’s not enough as Dragon kicks out! Great back and forth action here. Sabin again goes for the Cradle Shock and Dragon escapes again, Sabin drops down as Dragon runs over him and to the ropes, Sabin with a leapfrog as Dragon comes back and then drops down again but Dragon double stomps him right on the back! Dragon with a scoop slam and goes up top and hits a back senton, this might be it, one, two, thr..no! Sabin kicks out again! Dragon does the “slit throat” motion to the fans and goes for the Psycho Driver, Sabin backflips out and goes off the ropes but Dragon takes his head off with a lariat! He then lifts Sabin up in the Torture Rack position and SPIKES him with a BRUTAL Psycho Driver DANGEROOOUUUSSS! A cover and the 3 count is academic, Super Dragon is victorious!

    WINNER---Super Dragon

    ****

Up next we have another first-time meeting anywhere in professional wrestling as former IWA Mid South World Heavyweight Champion and current TNA X Division champ Petey Williams takes on the first-ever ROH champion, Low Ki! Williams has an 0-2 record while Low Ki comes in at 1-1. Scoot Andrews lost to CM Punk before Petey took over his spot and lost to Chris Hero upon his debut. Low Ki lost to The Messiah and then defeated Colt Cabana.

Petey Williams (0-2) vs. Low Ki (1-1)

During the opening moments of this match, one can plainly see that this is a major clash of styles, then again pretty much ALL of Low Ki’s matches are a clash of styles in one way or another. Petey surprisingly takes control early on with a snapmare and a dropkick to the back of the neck. He is no doubt softening up the neck for that devastating Canadian Destroyer of his. He rolls Ki over and hits a few kneedrops to the back of the neck. A back suplex gets an early 2 count. Low Ki hits a dropkick to the knee to break up Petey’s momentum. Ki then hits the 2 kicks to the chest and goes for a third but Petey ducks it and boots Ki in the gut and hits a version of the Siakolypse for a 2 and a half! Petey used to finish people off with that but it’s too early in this particular match. Petey then locks in a Camel Clutch, wrenching back, stretching out the back and neck of Low Ki. He lets go and then hits a swinging neckbreaker for another 2. He picks Ki up and whips him into the corner and charges in but Ki hits a vicious sidekick to the head of Petey! He then runs at Petey, ducks an attempted clothesline and springs off the middle rope with the Tidal Wave on Petey! He hits a couple Mongolian chops and then a few plain chops to the chest. He hits a Fisherman’s suplex for 2. Low Ki doesn’t seem to have a definitive plan in the match yet, Petey has totally thrown him off his game! Ki grabs the head of Petey and hits a couple Kawada kicks but Petey takes Ki down by the legs and tries to apply the Sharpshooter but Ki hits a few stiff kicks to the side and head of Petey and escapes. A scoop slam and a Muta-style power drive elbow get a 2. He whips Petey, tries a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker but Petey lands on his feet and hits the Russian legsweep. He then lifts Ki and jumps for the Canadian Destroyer but Ki holds onto Petey’s legs and sets him back down on his feet. Petey tries again and Ki again blocks it in the same way. Petey then pounds on Ki’s back and settles for a regular piledriver, spiking Ki down! He covers, this may be it, one, two, no, Ki is able to escape the pinfall but he is in trouble! Petey again tries for the Destroyer but Ki lifts him and pushes Petey off, Petey lands on his feet but gets nailed with a Koppo kick! NOW Ki’s head is in the game! He hits some stiff Kawada kicks and then whips Petey to the corner and hits the Tidal Krush! He does the “slit throat” motion and hits a brutal Ki Krusher! One, two, three! Low Ki wins a hard-fought match!

    WINNER---Low Ki

    ****

Ki helps Petey up and extends his hand, which Petey takes in a nice gesture. Ki obviously respects Petey, he almost pinned Low Ki in this match several times!

Backstage we see Bryan Danielson doing warm-ups when Spanky walks up.

Spanky: “Easy Dragon. I just wanted to come in here and say good luck in our match tonight, you’re gonna need it.”

Danielson: “Oh is that so? Answer this, who beat who to advance in the ECWA Super 8? Who beat who to advance in the APW King of the Indies in 2001? That’s right it was me. Sure you’ve beaten me in the past, but not when it mattered. And tonight is gonna be no different, you’re looking at tonight’s winner, right here.”

Spanky looks around and then goes to punch Dragon but as Dragon flinches, Spanky stops his hand and extends it in a handshake instead.

    Spanky: “Psyche.”

Danielson then stares at Spanky before bringing HIS fist up to punch Spanky but as Spanky flinches, Danielson also stops his swing and shakes Spanky’s hand, that should be a great match later tonight!

But now we get to Shane vs. Kazarian. These two men have been tag team partners in TNA for almost a year now so they are of course very familiar with each other. Let’s see who prevails when being a team means nothing! Shane is 0-2 after losses to Bryan Danielson and Paul London. Kazarian is 2-0 after 2 impressive victories over Spanky and Super Dragon.

Michael Shane (0-2) vs. Frankie Kazarian (2-0)

The two shake hands and hug before the match to homosexual remarks by the crowd. They circle each other and lock up and engage in a nice series of moves, escaping each other’s holds at rapid pace before standing off and the crowd, despite their dislike for both men, applaud their efforts, some even chanting “That was cool” in regards to Kazarian. Shane and Kazarian look at the crowd and encourage them to cheer but then flip them off! There are those attitudes again, I thought we were missing something. Shane gets the first advantage after a nice leg lariat. He hits a nice vertical suplex and then a back suplex. Kazarian takes control now with a bicycle kick to the face and a Northern Lights suplex with no bridge. He then charges at Shane but Shane low bridges the top rope and Kazarian flies to the outside. Shane runs off the ropes but puts on the brakes and again flips off the crowd. Kazarian uses this lapse in focus on Shane’s part to get on the apron and slingshot in with a DDT when Shane turns around. Enough of insulting the crowd, Kazarian wants the win! He scoop slams Shane and hits a legdrop off the middle turnbuckle for 2. He goes for the Back to the Future, the bridging Electric Chair suplex but Shane slides off his shoulders behind him, goes for a superkick, Frankie catches the foot and spins him around and hits a powerslam! He goes for an early Wave of the Future but Shane blocks it and DDT’s Kazarian. He then hits a move similar to Goldust’s old Curtain Call move for a 2 count. Shane goes for a powerbomb but Kazarian escapes behind Shane and locks on the TazMission! That’s one of his trademark moves! Shane looks for a way out and sits down with a jawbreaker in a wise move. He takes a little while to recuperate but sees Frankie run at him and catches him in a sleeper! He has it cinched in and Kazarian starts to fade but is able to elbow out before he does. He runs and springs off the middle rope for that back elbow but Shane gets under him and CATCHES him as he jumps and hits a beautiful sitout powerbomb and both men are down for the count!

The ref gets to about 8 before the two get up, the crowd now fully rallying them on. They throw some hard shots at each other, neither man backing down. Kazarian misses a spin kick, Shane goes for a superkick but HE misses and turns right into a WAVE OF THE FUTURE by Kazarian, it’s over! He covers, 1…2…NO! Shane gets his foot on the bottom rope! Kazarian can’t believe it. He wastes no time and goes for another Wave of the Future but Shane pushes him off and hits his SUPERKICK! Right to Kazarian’s jaw! He covers, 1…2…NO Kazarian kicks out of the superkick! The fans can’t believe it this time. Shane scoop slams Kazarian and goes up top for his Picture Perfect Elbow but Kazarian meets him up there. They jockey for position up top until Kazarian gets the upper hand and hits the One Man Revolution off the top rope! But Frankie is too tired to make a pin attempt! The fans try and rally them to their feet and they eventually stagger up. They look at each other and raise their fists and…HUG!? What the hell? They then flip everybody off! Shane grabs a mic.

Shane: “You fans want to see a clean winner in this match? (applause) Well screw you! We just proved to everyone that we could have the best match on the show, so we don’t need one of us to get a 1-2-3 or a submission. Screw you guys, we’re goin’ home!”

Shane and Kazarian get out of the ring and walk to the back as the ref makes the double count and after 10, counts both men out! They cheated everyone out of a clean finish!

    WINNER---None (Double Countout)

    *** ½

Up next we have what should be an excellent scientific encounter as Chris Hero takes on the debuting Alex Shelley. Hero is at 1-1, losing to Colt Cabana but beating Petey Williams. Shelley takes over for Doug Williams, who was 0-2 after losses to both Christopher Daniels and The Messiah. Chris Hero makes his way to the ring first but is attacked from behind by Shelley in the aisleway! Shelley hammerlocks Hero and sends him left shoulder first into the guardrail! He then pulls him over to the ring and puts Hero around the ringpost and then locks in a triangle choke around the ringpost, stretching Hero’s arm out! A slew of referees come out and get Shelley off Hero, their match is right now!

Chris Hero (1-1) vs. Alex Shelley (0-2)

Shelley tosses Hero into the ring and goes right to work on the shoulder with stomps. He takes the arm and spins around, driving it into the mat ala Molly Holly. He tries to apply some sort of armbar but Hero shoves him off and hits a forearm out of desperation. If Hero’s arm is so badly incapacitated, that takes away a large majority of his offense, the Hero’s Welcome, the Hangman’s Clutch, the Hero Sandwich #2, the whole works! Hero goes behind Shelley and hits a one-arm back suplex and then a running back senton and gets a quick 2. He gets up and hits a double stomp to the chest of Shelley. He Irish whips Shelley with one arm and hits a big boot to the face, he’s doing quite well considering he’s only using one arm! He hits a one arm neckbreaker and gets a 2. Shelley is able to regain control with a kick to the arm and a Divorce Court. He tries to go for the Border City Stretch early but Hero struggles to the ropes. Shelley continues working over the arm of Hero. He goes for Shellshock but Hero escapes and hits a desperation Hero’s Welcome but he can’t make an immediate cover because of his injured arm! He finally drapes his good arm over Shelley but Shelley kicks out before the count of 3! Hero is up before Shelley and hits a somersault neckbreaker and again only gets 2. Hero says that’s it and painfully gets Shelley up for that twisting Michinoku Driver he calls the Dislocator. He has Shelley up and grabs the arm and twists Shelley around but Shelley lands on his feet and takes Hero down with a Fujiwara armbar but it’s the wrong arm so Shelley gracefully floats over to the other side and locks in the Border City Stretch! That’s why Shelley was chosen to replace Doug Williams! Some fans start chanting “Tap, tap, tap” as Hero slowly tries to inch towards the ropes. He finally reaches the ropes but Shelley gets right up and legdrops the outstretched arm and then pulls Hero back and applies an Indian Deathlock and THEN the Border City Stretch again, much like a Regal Stretch! So much strain being put on Hero’s arm! Hero screams out “NOOO!!” and then we hear no more from him. The ref grabs Hero’s free arm and lifts it and it falls once. Again he lifts it and again it falls. One more time and it…falls a third time! Alex Shelley has defeated Chris Hero but in controversial fashion!

    WINNER---Alex Shelley

    ****

Shelley gets up and looks around to a mixture of boos and cheers from the fans. Alex Shelley has made quite a statement in his first match in the tournament!

Up next we have our semi-main event and it is a grudge match as CM Punk faces off against The Messiah. Punk & Cabana, the Second City Saints have had their share of troubles against Messiah and Christopher Daniels and this issue will be resolved in this match. We see a replay of earlier tonight when The Messiah helped Christopher Daniels get the victory over Colt Cabana with the powder in the eyes and Punk making the save. It’s almost a surety that some sort of interference will happen in this match as well. Punk is on a role at 2-0, defeating Scoot Andrews and Christopher Daniels thus far. Messiah is ALSO at 2-0 with victories over Low Ki and Doug Williams, albeit in controversial fashion!

CM Punk (2-0) vs. The Messiah (2-0)

Punk is out first and as Messiah makes his way down the aisle, Punk comes sailing through the top and middle ropes with a tope suicida! He punches down on Messiah’s head and they brawl all over the building. They finally make it back into the ring where Messiah takes control after a thumb to the eye and a falling inverted DDT. Punk is able to momentarily regain control and he goes for a Jinsei Shinzaki-style tightrope walk across the top rope but the Messiah crotches him! Messiah hits a nice sitout Crucifix powerbomb and a springboard legdrop and almost gets 3 but Punk gets the shoulder up. Messiah dumps Punk to the outside and goes onto the apron. He waits for Punk to stand up and then runs and somersaults off the apron onto Punk with the Holy Roller. They take the fight around ringside and Messiah sends Punk back into the ring and follows. Punk backs into the corner and Messiah grabs him by the feet and yanks him up but Punk backflips and lands on his feet (Jackie Chan!) and runs to the opposite corner, leaps off the middle turnbuckle, twisting in mid air and catching Messiah with a Blockbuster, what a move! He hits the double arm backbreaker, Welcome to Chicago Motherfucker! He then pulls Messiah to the corner and hits a split-legged moonsault for 2. He scoop slams Messiah and goes out to the apron and goes for an Eddie Guerrero-style Hilo over the ropes but he sees Messiah move, rolls through and onto his feet and goes off the ropes but Messiah elevates him and plants him down with a Cutter on the way back! Cover, one, two, no, Punk kicks out! Messiah calls for the end and goes for the Fall From Grace but Punk escapes and hits the Devil Lock DDT and both men are down.

They get up at around the ref’s 7 count and trade shots back and forth. Punk hits a quick dropkick to the knee and bounces off the ropes, going for the Shining Wizard but Messiah catches him out of the attempt and hits the Godsmack!! What a move! This is it, one, two, thr..no! Punk kicks out of The Godsmack! Messiah waits for Punk to get up and tries a superkick but Punk ducks and it clobbers the referee! Punk hits his hammerlock STO and covers but the ref is out! Punk calls for the end and pulls Messiah to the corner possibly for the Pepsi Plunge but Messiah low blows Punk! He fiddles around in his pants and takes a substance out and throws powder in the eyes of Punk! That’s what cost Colt Cabana his match earlier! Messiah slides out of the ring as Punk is blindly feeling his way around the ring, trying to find something to make the burning in his eyes go away. Messiah slides back in with a steel chair and absolutely NAILS Punk with a brutal chairshot. He throws the chair out of the ring and makes the cover. The groggy ref comes over and counts One…two…but his arm is held up the third time by Colt Cabana! The still groggy ref passes out again as Cabana and Messiah trade punches back and forth. The Messiah gets the advantage and goes for the Godsmack but Colt slides out and butterflies the arms, COLT 45! He pulls Punk over on top of Messiah and wakes up the referee. The referee crawls over and counts 1…2…3! CM Punk wins a hell of a war and Colt Cabana shows The Messiah that it’s an eye for an eye!

    WINNER---CM Punk

    *** ¼

Cabana comes back in and helps Punk up and raises his arm in victory. Christopher Daniels comes to ringside and helps Messiah to the back as the Second City Saints celebrate in the ring.

Well it’s main event time as we have 2 of the prize students of Shawn Michaels’ Texas Wrestling Academy doing battle one more time. Bryan Danielson is 2-0 after victories over Michael Shane and Sonjay Dutt. Spanky is 1-1 with a loss to Frankie Kazarian and a win over Chris Sabin.

Bryan Danielson (2-0) vs. Spanky (1-1)

The opening few minutes of this match see Spanky avoiding Danielson’s grounded style with hit and run tactics until Danielson catches him with some nasty European uppercuts. Danielson then proceeds to stretch Spanky out, working over the neck. A big back suplex gets a 2. He starts working on the neck with a Cravate. Spanky is able to escape and hit a leg lariat followed by a unique move that starts as a neckbreaker and ends in a facebuster on Spanky’s knee! Spanky whips Danielson to the corner and backflips off his chest Tiger Mask-style and then hits a back elbow in the corner and a sitout gourdbuster for a 2 and a half! Spanky has to keep Danielson on the move here! He goes to the apron and springboards in and PLANTS Danielson with a beautiful swinging DDT! Danielson slides out of the ring but turns right into the Whirling Twirlixer somersault plancha by Spanky! Spanky rolls Danielson back into the ring and gets on the apron. Danielson is on all fours and Spanky slingshots over Danielson and pulls Danielson into an Oklahoma roll for another close 2 count! Spanky gets a little hasty though and goes for Sliced Bread #2 but Danielson pushes him off behind him and hits a climbing enziguri! A snap DDT gets a 2. A nice traditional neckbreaker really wrenches the neck of Spanky. Danielson hits a series of old school body slams, wearing down the back and neck even more. He turns Spanky onto his stomach and goes for a diving headbutt to the back of the neck and connects! He turns Spanky over and covers but Spanky escapes at 2 and ¾! Danielson whips Spanky into the corner but Spanky tips up and headscissors Danielson over face-first into the middle turnbuckle! Spanky then gets up on the top buckle and grabs Danielson’s arms and hits a Tornado Pedigree! Cover, one, two, thr..no! Danielson gets his left shoulder up.

Spanky senses that perhaps the end is near and goes out to the apron. He springboards in for an attempted missile dropkick but Danielson sidesteps him and he crashes down. Danielson stands Spanky up and hits a VICIOUS European uppercut to the BACK of Spanky’s neck! Just brutal! He then grabs him by the neck and yanks him over in a Cravate suplex, Spanky gets dropped right on his head! Danielson then pulls Spanky into the middle of the ring and grabs the arms and flips over into Cattle Mutilation but Spanky somehow maneuvers into a pinning predicament on Danielson and Danielson barely escapes at 2 and ¾! How is Spanky pulling this off after just getting dropped on his head like that?? Danielson goes for a big lariat but Spanky ducks and boots Danielson in the gut and goes for Sliced Bread #2 but Danielson pushes Spanky chest-first into the corner, tries a Dragon suplex but Spanky back kicks Danielson and finally hits Sliced Bread #2, folding Danielson right in half! It’s over, 1…2…thr…NO! Danielson kicks out of Sliced Bread #2 and Spanky can’t believe it! Spanky staggers up and lifts Danielson and sits him backwards on the top turnbuckle. He then goes out to the apron and climbs up, maybe going for a SUPER Sliced Bread #2. He grabs the head and tries to backflip over Danielson but Danielson holds onto Spanky and puts him back down. Danielson then stands on the top rope and pulls Spanky up and crashes down with a back superplex! Danielson then gets up and applies Cattle Mutilation! The fans chant “Tap tap tap” at Spanky but he won’t give it up! He squirms and struggles and finally gets his foot on the rope! Danielson drags Spanky up and hits a Dragon suplex that folds Spanky up and then again locks in Cattle Mutilation! Spanky hesitates and then finally taps out! What a match, Danielson is victorious over one of his greatest rivals!

    WINNER---Bryan Danielson

-Danielson almost murdering Spanky with a European uppercut to the back of the neck and then a dangerous Cravate-plex

-Danielson kicking out of Spanky’s Sliced Bread #2

-Danielson reversing a Super Sliced Bread #2 into a back superplex

-Danielson hitting a Dragon suplex and locking on Cattle Mutilation for a third time, finally making Spanky submit

    ------------------------------------------------------

I thought Shane/Kazarian being the match of the night was odd too but the crowd reaction was way down due to them both being heels therefore the low * count compared to other matches. But the match rating was indeed 94, barely beating out a 93 by Low Ki & Petey Williams and a 92 by Chris Hero & Alex Shelley. Well here are the prediction results:

    RavenBlack 6-3

    Pepsi 6-3

    Standard 6-3

    LygerMark 6-3

    VDP2006 6-3

    erstyle 5-4

    J-Dubb 5-4

    craig 5-4

    Joucho 4-5

    Hellfire065 4-5

    ValiantJoey 3-6

    oldskool 3-6

I realize it was kind of cheap to put a draw in there but realistically there WOULD be draws here and there you know :P Congratulations to VDP2006 who is now 2/3 the way to getting a tape. RavenBlack, Standard, LygerMark and Pepsi are all now 1/3 the way there. See Pepsi I knew you'd start doing better ;) Patience my dear, haha. Anyways I hope you all enjoyed the show, the match-ups for the next show will be up in a few minutes.

  3. Teddy Hart suffers minor injury, will miss a month of action

Reported on October 28, 2004 at 6:57 PM.

Teddy Hart injured his wrist at a recent JAPW show in a match against Azrael.  He will miss his Nov. 6 Rise of the Independents match against Donovan Morgan as well as his Nov. 20 meeting with Amazing Red.  Hart has been impressing his peers lately in the Rise of the Independents with his professional demeanor and he and Samoa Joe were praised for their great match at the last show.  Hart's close friend Jack Evans will take his place in the 2 matches he will miss and Hart should be back in action for his Dec. 4 match against Mark Briscoe.

  4. I was warned this would happen by grindyoursoul and I should have known but I am not getting too much feedback on my writing. Is there anything you guys would like to see different, do you like the match write-ups, are they too long, too short, just right? Thanks for any other feedback.
  5. Rise of the Independents October 23, 2004: Thug Wars

We’re on the air, starting right off with a match as we’ll see Dan Maff take on Mark Briscoe. These two have met many times in tag team wars but never in one on one singles action. Maff is 2-0 after relatively easy victories over Red and Ted Hart. Mark upset Samoa Joe but then fell to BJ Whitmer.

Dan Maff (2-0) vs. Mark Briscoe (1-1)

This match is action-packed and hard-hitting from the beginning. Maff uses his size and strength advantage to control the early-goings. He gets 2 counts after a butterfly suplex and a Cannonball in the corner. Mark comes back with a couple dropkicks and goes to dive at Maff but Maff catches him and fallaway slams him over the ropes to the floor! Maff then gets a run and dives through the ropes with a huge tope suicida on Mark! Then, in trademark Maff fashion, he whips Mark into the guardrail on all 4 sides of the ring! Back in he only gets a 2 though. He hits a stiff elbowdrop off the ropes for another 2. Maff goes for one of those half nelson suplexes but Mark blocks it and hits a back kick to the gut and a jumping heel kick to the back of the head followed by a springboard dropkick for 2. An enziguri takes Maff down and Mark goes up top. He comes off for a shooting star press but Maff gets the knees up! Ouch! He grabs Mark and hits a half nelson suplex but Mark GETS UP! He grabs Maff and hits an overhead Sambo suplex but Maff gets up from that! He ducks a swing and hits another half nelson suplex, dropping Mark right on his head! Maff calls for the end and goes for the Burning Hammer but Mark escapes and hits his Cut-Throat Driver, much like a Burning Hammer! He turns Maff over and covers, one, two, three! What a victory for Mark Briscoe, using basically Dan Maff’s own move on him!

    WINNER---Mark Briscoe

    *** ¼

Up next we have the Amazing Red, trying to break his cursed luck against big men in a match against BJ Whitmer. Red has lost to both Dan Maff and Donovan Morgan. Whitmer lost to Morgan as well but then came back with a win over Mark Briscoe.

Amazing Red (0-2) vs. BJ Whitmer (1-1)

Red is out first and as BJ makes his way out Red comes over the top with a sensational somersault plancha onto BJ! BJ gets up disoriented and retreats into the ring. Red hits a springboard clothesline for a 2 and a half already! We might have a huge upset on our hands here. Red goes for another springboard move but gets his head taken off by a huge lariat from Whitmer. BJ backs him into the corner and beats him down into a sitting position and then does some unique knee scrapes, like boot scrapes but using the corners of his kneepad, ouch! He pulls Red out and hits a suplex, holds on and hits a Northern Lights suplex for a 2. He goes for a Dragon suplex but Red is able to elbow out and hit a spinning front kick. He goes for a sunset flip but BJ stands his ground and then pulls Red up by his armpits and suplexes him all the way across the ring with a HUGE overhead suplex! The fans chant “Holy Shit” at that. BJ calls for the end but he can’t get the Exploder hooked and Red elbows BJ in the face. He then hops up and takes BJ over with the Code Red! One, two, thr..no!! BJ barely kicks out of Code Red! Red goes up top looking for the Infrared but he takes too long and BJ powerbombs him down! BJ picks him up, Exploder 98! One, two, three! BJ with the win, but it wasn’t as easy as he thought it was going to be!

    WINNER---BJ Whitmer

    ***

Our next match should be a great technical match as Jerry Lynn takes on Matt Stryker. Jerry lost to his arch-rival AJ Styles before beating Trent Acid at the last show. Stryker has lost to both Acid and Homicide.

Jerry Lynn (1-1) vs. Matt Stryker (0-2)

These two great wrestlers start out their match both going for their signature moves but Lynn is able to escape the Death Valley Driver and Stryker gets out of the TKO and they both go for a dropkick and we are at a stalemate. Jerry takes control with a nice headscissors and a hurucanrana to take Stryker to the floor. Jerry hits a pescado and throws Stryker back in. He gets consecutive 2 counts with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, a German suplex and an inverted DDT but Stryker is resilient. Stryker takes control with a Dragon screw leg whip and works over the leg with numerous submissions and wear-down holds. Stryker boosts Lynn up top maybe for a superplex but Lynn pushes him off and hits a missile dropkick but hurts his leg in the process. Lynn is still up first and gets a near fall with a sitout powerbomb. Lynn goes up top, maybe for that bulldog but Stryker runs up the buckles ala Kurt Angle but Lynn hits him in the gut and hits a bulldog off the second rope and they are both down. They get up at a 6 count, Lynn tries for the Cradle Piledriver but Stryker backdrops him and hits the Death Valley Driver! One, two, Lynn kicks out! Most of the damage was done to his leg so he was able to withstand the DVD. Stryker is visibly frustrated and goes for the Stryker Lock and locks it in! Lynn screams in pain but he is able to inch towards the ropes and finally reach them to break the hold! Stryker pulls Lynn back and again goes for the Stryker Lock but Lynn kicks him off. Stryker pulls Lynn up and tries to whip him to the corner but Lynn’s leg gives out. Stryker again tries to whip Lynn to the corner and the same thing happens. He tries one more time and is surprised when Lynn is able to run to the corner and follows him in but Lynn tips up and twists in mid air into a sunset flip on Stryker, One, two, three! The veteran pulls out the win!

    WINNER---Jerry Lynn

    *** ¼

Stryker can’t believe it, he thought he had the match well in hand but never count the resourceful Jerry Lynn out! Lynn gets to his feet and offers his hand in respect and Stryker hesitates but finally accepts in a great show of sportsmanship.

Backstage we see Homicide doing warm ups for tonight’s match when his opponent B-Boy comes into the screen. Homicide stops and stands up, staring right into his frequent tag team partner’s eyes.

Homicide: “Let’s do this shit tonight.”

    B-Boy: “Hell yeah.”

They flash their hand signal at each other and B-Boy walks off as Homicide resumes his warm ups.

Back to the ring here as we’ll see a battle of finishers here as both men utilize a double underhook or “butterfly” piledriver as their finishers. It will Donovan Morgan’s “Sayonara” against Jay Briscoe’s “J-Driller.” However experience will certainly be a factor as well as Morgan is a veteran of many ring wars compared to the young Briscoe. Morgan has defeated Red and BJ Whitmer. Jay beat Ted Hart before losing to Samoa Joe.

Donovan Morgan (2-0) vs. Jay Briscoe (1-1)

Morgan uses the experience edge to maintain control over the less experienced Briscoe. He hits a back suplex and then a Doctor Bomb for a 2. He goes for Sayonara early but Jay twists out, ducks a lariat and hits a Yakuza kick! He hits a Falcon Arrow for 2. He goes up top but misses his Cannonball Senton and Morgan takes advantage with a suplex, holds on and hits a Fisherman’s suplex and holds on again to hit the Golden Gate Swing for a 2 and a half. He again goes for Sayonara but Jay backdrops him and goes for the J-Driller but Morgan reverses that into a backdrop of his own. Morgan then goes for another Golden Gate Swing but Jay twists around into a double underhook and finally hits the J-Driller! One, two, three! Jay Briscoe with an upset!

    WINNER---Jay Briscoe

    *** ½

Donovan struggles to his feet and stops Jay from leaving, Jay better be wary of a cheap shot here. But Donovan grabs Jay by the arm and shakes his hand in a rare show of sportsmanship from the veteran.

We then see a music video chronicling the wars that Xavier and John Walters have waged against each other in Ring of Honor, basically focusing on Xavier’s numerous cheap wins and especially on their brutal Fight Without Honor at Final Battle 2003. Tonight will be the end of their war in a 2 out of 3 falls match! Walters lost to Homicide before defeating B-Boy in what many are calling an upset. Xavier has lost to both B-Boy and AJ Styles.

John Walters (1-1) vs. Xavier (0-2)---2 out of 3 Falls Match

    First Fall

The two rivals come face to face in the middle of the ring, staring each other down. Surprisingly nobody takes a cheap shot and they back off and circle each other. The first few minutes contains some nice chain wrestling, perhaps AJ Styles’ words to Xavier had more of an effect than we thought? Xavier hits a nice inverted Samoan drop to get the first major advantage in the match. He hits some jumping knee strikes to Walters in the corner followed by a nice slingshot knee to a seated Walters and then a powerslam for 2. Walters comes back with a Northern Lights suplex for 2. A back suplex and a backbreaker gets 2 again. He goes for an early Hurricane DDT which is a mistake as Xavier escapes and hits a brutal release German suplex. He goes up top, maybe for his 450 but Walters meets him up there and superplexes him! He grabs the legs and locks in the sharpshooter but Xavier is able to make it to the ropes after a few seconds. Walters grabs Xavier in a suplex position but Xavier hits a knee to the gut and the X Breaker out of nowhere and Xavier wins the first fall after about 8 minutes!

There is a 30 second rest period between the falls as both men, mostly Walters, regroup.

    Second Fall

Xavier pounces as soon as the 30 second rest period is over and goes for Kiss Your X Goodbye but Walters escapes and hits a desperation Lung Blower, the double knees to the back, but he is too tired to make a cover. Walters can’t capitalize so Xavier is able to get back up and stay in control of the match. He hits a big gutbuster, maybe softening up Walters for either Kiss Your X Goodbye or else the 450 Splash. He hits a powerbomb, maybe going for that combo of his but as he lifts Walters up for that overhead flapjack, Walters locks in a triangle choke! Xavier is forced to put Walters down and he might tap but Walters almost gets counted out because his shoulders were down! He was able to get them up at 2 though and relinquish the hold. Walters then hits a nice German suplex with a bridge for 2. He hits a few forearms on Xavier and then whips him across the ring to the corner, Xavier tips up and over Walters, kick to the gut and tries another X Breaker but Walters rolls through and hits his Piggyback stunner! That gets a 2 and ¾! Walters senses the end is near and approaches Xavier but Xavier grabs Walters by the tights and propels him through the ropes to the floor. He baseball slide dropkicks Walters who goes flying into the rail. Xavier then hits his suicidal Arabian press to the floor on Walters! He goes for what looks like a piledriver but he gets backdropped on the floor by Walters! Walters rolls in, looking for a countout victory but he sees Xavier get up at 7. Walters then runs through the ropes with a tope! He tosses Xavier in and covers but gets 2 only. He then locks in the sharpshooter! Xavier is struggling, he should tap so he can save energy for the third fall! But he doesn’t tap and instead tries to reach the ropes, it takes about 45 seconds but he makes it, but the damage may already be done. Walters goes for a powerbomb or maybe the Hurricane DDT but Xavier holds onto the legs. Walters lets go and goes off the ropes but is met by a superkick from Xavier! Xavier then tries for Kiss Your X Goodbye but Walters escapes behind Xavier, turns him around and hits a Lung Blower to the chest of Xavier and then turns him around again and hits a regular Lung Blower to the back! He covers Xavier, One, two, three! Walters has evened the score at 1 fall apiece. We are going to a third and deciding fall!

    Third Fall

Both men are slow getting up as the fans come to life and rally them to their feet as the 30 second rest period ends. They get up and circle each other and lock up as if the match is just starting. Xavier with a quick go behind and tries to get the surprise pin with several rollups. A schoolboy, a small package, an inside cradle, a Magistral cradle are all used but Xavier can’t keep Walters down for 3! Xavier runs off the ropes but Walters catches him on the way back and maneuvers him into an Octopus! Xavier is able to reverse into an abdominal stretch and then he lifts Walters from there into Kiss Your X Goodbye! He then pulls Walters close to the corner and goes up top and hits his picture perfect 450 splash! He covers, this is it! One, two, thr..no!! Walters stays alive and Xavier and the fans alike can’t believe it! Xavier pulls Walters up and goes for another X Breaker but Walters floats through, boots Xavier in the gut and hits the Hurricane DDT! He covers, 1…2…NO! Xavier kicks out of Walters’ finisher just as Walters did to Xavier! What is it going to take to put either of these men away? The crowd rallies behind them as they get to their feet and trade chops back and forth, Xavier hits a weak clothesline. He props Walters on the top turnbuckle and climbs up but Walters fights his way out and stands on the top rope and hits a sunset flip powerbomb off the top and then rolls Xavier over onto his feet and hits a second Hurricane DDT! He covers this time, one, two, three! John Walters has done it!

    WINNER---John Walters

    ***

Walters gets up and the fans applaud the efforts of these 2 men. Xavier sits propped up against the turnbuckles and Walters nods his head at Xavier and leaves and the fans give Xavier, a man they usually hate, a standing ovation. He didn’t cheat at all in this match either, maybe a little bit of the old Xavier coming through as a man who can fight his battles without cheating.

Teddy Hart is backstage with what will no doubt be some interesting comments for a man he doesn’t particularly like, Samoa Joe.

Hart: “Samoa Joe, I can’t help that you’re a jealous man. Anyone can plainly see that you have a deep-rooted hatred for Ted Hart. Let’s go back to the beginning. Ring of Honor. The first ever Scramble Cage match. Teddy Hart and Jack Evans STOLE THE SHOW. And we get backstage and you have to have a little pussy fit because you can’t do what Ted Hart and Jack Evans can do. Can you do a double backflip off a cage? I don’t think so. And you go around preaching about respect and honor. Well Joe, all I see when I look at you is DISrespect and DIShonor. If you were such an honorable man, you would come up and shake my hand and pay your respect to me and my inhuman abilities. But instead you think you can tell me what to do, I don’t think so. People are saying that tonight I have no chance, that you are going to plow right over me easily. Fuck that. I’m gonna show you why I am the Canadian Superman and I’m gonna rip you apart “big man.”

Strong words from Teddy Hart but almost everybody is saying that he stands virtually no chance against Samoa Joe. Then again, nobody thought Mark Briscoe stood a chance either right?

Up next we have what I believe is a first-time ever one on one match in professional wrestling as Trent Acid takes on “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles. This one should be fast-paced and action-packed! Trent beat Matt Stryker at the first show before losing to Jerry Lynn. AJ has defeated Lynn and Xavier thus far.

Trent Acid (1-1) vs. AJ Styles (2-0)

This starts out with a big sequence of moves that ends with Acid hopping over a legsweep and dropkicking AJ right in the face! He tries an Irish whip, AJ reverses, leapfrogs Trent and then drops down so Acid can hop over him and then AJ springs up with a dropkick of his own, classic AJ Styles right there. AJ controls the first part with some interesting variations of gutbusters and backbreakers. Acid comes back with a Blue Thunder driver for 2. He goes for an early Yakuza kick but AJ sidesteps it and hits an enziguri to the back of the head! He goes for the Styles Clash but Acid pulls himself up and takes AJ over the top and to the floor with a rana! He whips AJ towards a rail but AJ hops over the rail and superkicks Acid when he approaches! AJ catches his breath and then tries to climb over the rail but Acid comes charging back with a Yakuza kick that sends AJ flying back into a row of seats. AJ is laying across 2 chairs so Acid climbs up onto the rail and dives off with a splash on AJ and the chairs! He grabs AJ and hurls him over the rail and then back into the ring where AJ kicks out at 2. He tries for a suplex or something but AJ goes up and over, hits a German and holds on but Acid elbows out of a second one, goes for a Yakuza kick but AJ ducks that, springs off the middle rope with a backflip and hits the inverted DDT on Acid in another patented move! Acid kicks out at 2 though. AJ hits a brainbuster and goes up top but Acid kicks the referee into the ropes and that causes AJ to slip and crotch himself and he tumbles down to the mat. Acid pulls AJ out of the corner and goes up top and comes off, rotating in mid air and splashing AJ, that’s the Bad Trip! One, two, thr..no! AJ gets his left shoulder up! Acid slams the mat in frustration. He gets AJ up, tries a whip, AJ reverses, misses a spin kick, Acid with a kick to the gut and then one to the face as AJ bends down. Acid then goes for a roaring elbow but AJ ducks that and hits his discus lariat! Cover only gets 2 again though. He decides to try for that crucifix DDT and lifts Acid up for it but Acid squirms out, off the ropes and goes for a Yakuza kick but AJ moves a little bit to the side and catches Acid’s leg and lifts him into perfect position for the...STYLES CLASH! He turns Acid over, one, two, three! AJ wins a great match to advance to 3-0!

    WINNER---AJ Styles

    *** ¼

Right onto our next match as the ROH champ Samoa Joe takes on the loud-mouthed Ted Hart. This should be most interesting! Hart is 0-2 after losses to both Jay Briscoe and Dan Maff. Joe is 1-1 after losing to Mark Briscoe but beating Jay Briscoe.

Ted Hart (0-2) vs. Samoa Joe (1-1)

Hart is out first to half cheers, half boos from the fans. Some fans are chanting “Joe is gonna kill you” but Hart just flips them off. Joe is out next but he can’t even make into the ring before Hart comes diving through the ropes with a tope suicida! He doesn’t even roll off Joe but instead beats down on Joe with a flurry of fists. He brings Joe over and slams his head into the guardrail! Hart then gets on the apron and hits a big top rope Asai Moonsault on Joe! He goes back into the ring and climbs up top and then comes off with a shooting star press on a standing Joe! He’s doing exactly what got him kicked out of the ROH locker room after Scramble Cage! He gets on the apron for maybe ANOTHER high-flying move but Joe trips him and he goes face first into the apron. Joe then hits a flurry of knees to the gut and then the Thousand Hand Slap~! And finally another knee to the gut for good measure. He takes Teddy and sits him on a chair as the fans start singing “Ole Ole.” Joe runs and connects with an Ole Ole kick! The fans on the other side of the ring start yelling “Over Here” so Joe obliges and eventually makes it all the way around the ring after 4 Ole Ole kicks total! Perhaps young Teddy made a mistake by showboating! Back in the ring, Joe snapmares Hart over, a kick and a chop to the back and then a kick to the chest and finally the kneedrop off the ropes! He covers but then immediately pulls Hart up, he ain’t done dishing out the punishment yet! He hits a German suplex, holds on and hits a Dragon suplex but still holds on and completes the Chimairaplex combo with the cross-armed German but he releases the bridge right away! He drags Hart’s almost lifeless body up and hits some stiff Kawada kicks to the face and chest and then destroys Hart with a lariat! Joe covers but again lifts Hart up before the count of three! He lifts Hart onto his shoulder maybe for an Island Driver but Hart escapes and superkicks Joe and takes the big man down! He goes up top and dives off, spiking Joe with that super DDT of his! He covers and gets a 2 and a half! He almost surprised Joe there! He catches Joe with a very Bret Hart-ish looking flying clothesline and goes up top and hits Open Hart Surgery, his version of the Spiral Tap! He covers, One, two, thre..no!! Joe kicks out but BARELY! Hart might win this! He goes back up top and goes for his Hart Attack Shooting Star Press but Joe moves out of the way and both guys are down. The ref gets to 8 and both guys are up and Joe goes for an enziguri but misses and Hart once again goes upstairs. He goes for another flying DDT but Joe catches him and plants him with an STO, almost putting him through the mat! He lifts Hart up and plants him with a running Muscle Buster that ended like a brainbuster, he might have broken Teddy’s neck! Joe then locks in the Choke and Hart was pretty much out anyways and the ref checks Hart’s arm 3 times but it’s academic and it falls on the 3rd time, giving Joe the victory, but it was harder than he ever expected!

    WINNER---Samoa Joe

    ***

Joe takes a bottle of water and pours it on Teddy’s face to wake him up and Hart slowly gets up. Joe extends his hand for a handshake in a rather surprising move, given what has been said about each other by these 2. Hart looks at it and just flips Joe off and rolls out of the ring! He may have almost beaten Joe, ultimately being humbled, but he’s still an arrogant prick!

Now we have our main event and what a match it should be. B-Boy versus Homicide! These 2 won the PWG Tango & Cash tag team title tournament together but are no strangers to each other across the ring either. This one should be hard-hitting and intense! B-Boy is 1-1 after beating Xavier and then losing to John Walters. Homicide has defeated both Walters and Matt Stryker thus far.

    Homicide vs. B-Boy

A nice 5 minutes of technical wrestling starts this one out, a little bit of a feeling out process until B-Boy opens it up with a stiff forearm out of frustration. That triggers an intense exchange of forearms. Homicide takes control after a couple of headbutts and T-Bones B-Boy over but B-Boy gets right up and hits an Exploder, Homicide with a 2nd T-Bone but B-Boy right back with a 2nd Exploder! Homicide goes for a 3rd T-Bone but B-Boy blocks, tries another Exploder but Homicide blocks that and dropkicks B-Boy and B-Boy rolls to the floor! Homicide comes running and hits the Tope Con Hilo on B-Boy! Back in, Homicide hits a quick Koji Cutter and a BRUTAL double stomp off the top for 2. B-Boy comes back with a sick-sounding palm strike and then a Siakolypse-like neckbreaker. He double stomps Homicide TWICE trampoline style and then hits a senton to end the combo and the fans are standing in applause. B-Boy gets a 2 count on that. He whips Homicide to the corner and hits a big running Yakuza-style kick to the face but Homicide no-sells it and hits a few forearms and whips B-Boy into a corner and hits his own Yakuza kick but B-Boy no-sells that too! Homicide with a headbutt and whips B-Boy to a corner again and runs in with a forearm and B-Boy slumps down into a sitting position, allowing Homicide to hit his running knee strike in the corner! He pulls B-Boy out and covers but B-Boy kicks out at 1 and gets right up, palm strikes Homicide, whip to the corner and his own running forearm and Homicide sits down now. B-Boy goes to the other side as the fans hit their heads with 2 fists in a tribute to B-Boy and B-Boy hits the running dropkick to the face, the Facelift, as an audible “SMACK” makes the fans groan and Homicide falls to the floor. B-Boy then runs and flips over the ropes with a somersault plancha of his own!

Back in the ring B-Boy gets a 2 count. He hits a Death Valley Driver for another 2. Homicide lands on his feet on an attempted German suplex and hits a Tenzan-style Tombstone piledriver but B-Boy kicks out at 2. He goes for a regular piledriver now but B-Boy lifts him into position where it looks like Homicide is trying a sunset flip and then B-Boy DRIVES Homicide down head-first! One, two, NO! Homicide kicks out! B-Boy calls for the end and hits the Cross Special Brainbuster! One, two, NO, Homicide drapes his foot over the bottom rope! B-Boy backs up and goes for a Shining Wizard but Homicide ducks it, runs off the ropes and goes a lariat but B-Boy ducks that and they both go for a Shining Wizard, B-Boy with his left knee, Homicide with his right knee and the 2 knees collide with a sickening crack and the fans yell and clap in support as both men clutch their knees. The ref’s count goes to 7 and both men stand up and go right back to trading forearms, B-Boy gets the upper hand and goes for a roaring forearm but Homicide catches the arm and goes behind B-Boy, lifting him and planting him with the Cop Killa DANGEROOOUUUUUSSSS!!! It’s over! One……Two……NO! B-Boy gets his foot on the rope! Homicide can’t believe it as he asks the ref about 4 times if it was 3 only to be told that B-Boy is still alive in this match! He winds up his arm, probably going for that deadly lariat of his and he runs off the ropes but B-Boy dropkicks the knees out and hits the Shining Wizard!! He favors his neck a little but finally makes the cover, ONE, TWO, THR..NO!!! Homicide kicks out of the Shining Wizard!! The fans are going nuts as they surely thought that was it. B-Boy lowers his kneepad but is rubbing his neck, it sure took a beating from that Cop Killa. He goes for the unprotected Shining Wizard but Homicide blocks it, goes for a lariat, B-Boy ducks it but Homicide is able to run off the ropes and take B-Boy’s head off with a second attempt! B-Boy landed on his neck again! Homicide rolls B-Boy onto his stomach and quickly applies an STF, wrenching back hard on B-Boy’s neck. B-Boy starts to crawl to the ropes but the pain is too much and he TAPS OUT! Homicide wins a hellacious battle and he is now 3-0!

    WINNER---Homicide

    **** ½

The fans give the 2 men a standing ovation and some chant “Match of the Year.” Homicide uses the ropes to hold himself up as B-Boy slowly gets to his feet as well, holding his neck. The 2 come to the middle of the ring in a staredown before shaking hands and embracing as the fans clap for them and the show comes to an end.

  6. Walters/Xavier at next Rise of the Independents show to be 2 out of 3 falls!

Reported on October 19, 2004 at 6:54 PM

It has just been reported that John Walters and Xavier have petitioned and been granted for their match to be 2 out of 3 falls.  There will be a 45 minute time limit opposed to the regular 30 minute time limit.

  7. Rise of the Independents loses another participant

Reported on October 18th, 2004 at 4:35 PM

Doug Williams has been forced to pull out of the Rise of the Independents tournament due to complications with his work Visa.  He is unable to wrestle outside of the UK for an indefinite amount of time so he has requested that he be pulled out of the tournament altogether.  Williams is said to have been going through some personal trouble as well which may have also contributed to his pulling out of the tournament.  A replacement has already been confirmed and that will be Alex Shelley.  Shelley will debut in 2 weeks against Williams' scheduled opponent Chris Hero.

  8. October 16th, 2004 - Rise of the Independents: Culmination

We come on the air as CM Punk makes his way to the ring, but not yet dressed in ring gear, apparently he has something on his mind.

Punk: “Everybody’s heard the rumors concerning Scoot Andrews (boos from the crowd) and his signing with WWE. Now I’m not gonna come out here and rip him and his decision to go to WWE, it’s a dream a lot guys have in this business and he has to make a living for him and his family. But when the boys signed on for this tournament, that meant that they were considered one of the best on the independent scene. Do you have any idea what that means? How many THOUSANDS of wrestlers are on the indy scene who didn’t get a chance to be in this prestigious tournament and YOU Scoot Andrews were one of the ones deemed good enough to be in it. So you go to WWE, and don’t come crying back when they book you as a servant to John Bradshaw Layfield or something, you have been replaced my friend! Now without further ado, Chris Hero, please come to the ring.”

“Kryptonite” hits and Chris Hero makes his way through the curtain. He gets in the ring and shakes hands with CM Punk.

Punk: “Chris Hero, you were scheduled to face Scoot Andrews in the opening contest of tonight’s show. One part of that won’t change, you better be ready to wrestle right NOW. And your opponent and the man who will take Scoot Andrews’ place in this tournament and make it his own is a former IWA World heavyweight champion as well the CURRENT NWA TNA X Division champion, ladies and gentlemen, PETEY WILLIAMS!”

“One Step Closer” by Linkin Park plays and Petey Williams makes his way out to a decent ovation. Once people see he doesn’t have his pro-Canada garb on, they cheer him more. He gets into the ring and shakes hands with CM Punk and his opponent Chris Hero, this should be an awesome match up!

Chris Hero (0-1) vs. Petey Williams (adopting Scoot Andrews’ record of 0-1)

They circle each other as the enthusiastic crowd of about 500 rally the two into battle. Hero starts out wrestling circles around Petey before doing a series of unique stretches, wearing down different parts of Petey’s anatomy. Petey hits an inverted atomic drop and a climbing enziguri to turn the tide. Hero rolls out holding his head and Petey comes over the top with a pescado! He tries to whip Hero to the rail but Hero reverses and Petey goes back first into the rail! Hero charges but gets a boot in the head and Petey then hits an interesting neckbreaker, grabbing Hero’s head and falling FORWARD while finishing the neckbreaker and Hero’s head makes a sickening sound on the arena floor! Petey tosses Hero back into the ring and hits a trifecta of kneedrops for a 2 count. A snapmare and a dropkick to the back of the head gets another 2 for Petey. Petey switches up and goes for a sharpshooter to wear Hero down more but as he grapevines the legs, Hero sits up with a vicious headbutt that rocks both men! Hero comes back with some forearms and whips Petey to the ropes and goes for a tilt-a-whirl move of some sort but Petey lands on his feet and Russian legsweeps Hero, the back of his head again smacking the mat. Another 2 count follows. Petey then works on Hero with a Camel clutch with repeated shots to Hero’s head. Hero is able to make it first to his knees and then lifts Petey on his shoulders. He grabs Petey and sits out, driving Petey down with a brutal Rubix Cube but he’s too tired to cover! The ref counts to 6 and both men are up, Petey with the advantage and he jumps at Hero with a crossbody attempt but Hero catches him and hits the Hero Sandwich II and then a DDT! He is working over Petey’s neck, setting up for the Hero’s Welcome or the Hangman’s Clutch for sure! He actually goes for the Hangman’s clutch but Petey quickly reaches the ropes. Hero pulls him back but Petey kicks him off, tries a rana but Hero catches him and powerbombs him into the corner! He puts Petey up top and goes for maybe a super Tiger Driver but Petey shoves him off and hits a flying legdrop to the back of the head, cover, 1-2-kickout. Hero is in trouble though! Petey calls for the end and runs at Hero and tries for the Canadian Destroyer flipping piledriver but Hero catches Petey by the legs and slams him down with a Concrete Crash and then lifts him right up into a Hero’s Welcome! He folds Petey right up into a pin and gets the 3! Great debut match for Petey Williams but Chris Hero gets the duke!

    WINNER---Chris Hero

    ****

The two come face to face after the match, Hero holding the back of his head, Petey holding his neck, and they shake hands! Good show of respect and a fantastic debut match for Petey Williams, he’ll replace Scoot Andrews just fine!

Up next we’ll see an interesting match. Frankie Kazarian, coming off a convincing win over Spanky, takes on Super Dragon who had that incredible 30 minute time limit draw with Paul London. Let’s see who can take their momentum and run with it.

Super Dragon (0-0-1) vs. Frankie Kazarian (1-0)

This match is very fast paced right from the beginning as Dragon stuns Frankie with headscissors and ranas before pummeling him in the corner with forearms and chops. Frankie turns the tide with a springboard back elbow off the second rope. He then slingshots in from the apron with a DDT on Dragon for a 2 count. A German suplex gets another 2. Frankie decides to go up top and gets crotched and Frankensteinered! Dragon then Curb Stomps Frankie, what a brutal move that is! A 2 count follows. Dragon goes to the apron and waits for Frankie to get up and goes for the UFO, the springboard spin heel kick but Frankie moves, goes for his Wave of the Future but Dragon elbows out, tries for the Psycho Driver but Frankie backflips out of that, ducks a high kick by Dragon and hits the Back to the Future bridging Electric Chair suplex and gets a 2 and ¾! He calls for the end and locks in his TazMission but Dragon grabs the ropes. Frankie lets go and tries for another German but Dragon blocks, go behind and hits 2 rolling Germans of his own. He holds on and goes for a Dragon suplex but Frankie with a go behind of his own and locks in the TazMission again! He wraps a leg around Dragon and brings him down! This could be it! The ref checks Dragon’s arm once, it drops. Second time, it drops again! He tries the third time but Dragon’s arm stays up! He uses the energy from the crowd to get to his feet and he runs and ducks down, propelling Frankie face-first into the turnbuckle! He hooks in a pumphandle, going for the Supernatural Driver but Frankie escapes it and hits the Wave of the Future out of nowhere! He turns Dragon over, One, two, three! What a win for Frankie Kazarian!

    WINNER---Frankie Kazarian

Backstage, Christopher Daniels has words for his opponent tonight, CM Punk.

Daniels: ”CM Punk, tonight, you and I write one more chapter in our long rivalry. We’ve been everywhere, IWC, IWA Mid South. But the one place that stands out in my mind the most Punk, is Ring of Honor. You sent me packing from Ring of Honor after the Pepsi Plunge through the table and I will never forget that. Tonight, you pay for the sins you have committed against me CM Punk. And all you can do is say your prayers.”

Speaking of prayers, “Prayer” by Disturbed hits as The Messiah makes his way to the ring after DEFEATING Low Ki at the last show albeit with the help of Christopher Daniels. You gotta wonder if Daniels will stick his nose in this match also as him and the Messiah seem to have some sort of unholy alliance between them. Doug Williams, who Daniels beat at the last show, makes his way out, this should be an interesting contrast in styles.

Doug Williams (0-1) vs. The Messiah (1-0)

Starting out, Messiah tries to keep pace with Williams but Williams is just too much with that European style and he takes control in the early goings. Messiah is able to hit a nice X Factor to turn the tide. He comes off the top with a flying bodypress for a 2. Williams is able to regain momentum with the Revolution DDT. He goes up top and goes for the flying kneedrop but Messiah moves and Doug injures his knee! Messiah, like a shark on blood, is right on that leg, wearing it out. He slaps on a single leg crab but Doug reaches the bottom rope. Messiah scoop slams Doug and then lays the leg out and then hits a Lionsault onto the leg! Doug yells in pain as Messiah locks in an Indian Deathlock. Doug again reaches the ropes. Messiah calls for the end and goes for the Godsmack but Doug escapes and pushes Messiah to the corner and rolls back with the CHAOS THEORY! But he hurt his leg and he can’t make the cover! He finally does but by this time Messiah is able to kick out at 2! Doug gets up and whips Messiah to the corner and hits a charging knee and then a high knee off the ropes. He climbs up top and is gonna go for the kneedrop but he thinks better of it and hits a flying elbowdrop instead! One, two, no! Messiah kicks out! Doug calls for the end and goes for the Chaos Theory again but as he pushes Messiah into the corner, Christopher Daniels comes out nowhere and blasts Doug with a forearm! Doug is stunned and Messiah takes the advantage to lift him and plant him down with the Fall From Grace! He covers, no not this way! One, two, three! Messiah steals one!

    WINNER---The Messiah

    ***

This alliance of Christopher Daniels and The Messiah may steal this entire tournament, they must be stopped!

Right onto our next match which will no doubt be FAIR for a change as Sonjay Dutt does battle with the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson.

Sonjay Dutt (0-1) vs. Bryan Danielson (1-0)

Sonjay frustrates Danielson in the early part of the match but Danielson takes control and lights Sonjay up with several chops. He starts working over Sonjay’s back with a backbreaker. He then stretches Sonjay over his shoulder in a Canadian backbreaker. A back suplex gets 2. Danielson whips Sonjay and goes for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker but Sonjay keeps spinning and hits a swinging DDT out of it! Sonjay Star Press gets a 2. He scoop slams Danielson and then hits his double jump elbowdrop off the top for 2 and a half! Sonjay slams him down and goes up top for the Hindu Press but Danielson crotches him and takes him off the top with a back superplex! Danielson goes to lock on the Cattle Mutilation but Sonjay quickly squirms to the ropes. Danielson drags him up and hits his snap DDT then climbs up top. He comes off for a diving headbutt but Sonjay moves! A spinning heel kick takes Danielson down. Sonjay now with a kick to the gut, off the ropes with a boot to the head, a chinbreaker over his knee and then a leaping neckbreaker, that’s the Calcut Cut! Cover, one, two, thr..no! Danielson kicks out at 2 and a half. Sonjay picks Danielson up and hitsh is running muscle buster, the Indian Summer! He calls for the end and pulls Danielson over to a corner. He goes up top for his Hindu Press and jumps for it, sees Danielson move in mid-air and lands on his feet, somersaulting through, charges at Danielson and goes for a big boot but Danielson dodges him and cradles the leg and then DRIVES Sonjay down head first with a leg-clutch backdrop driver, dangerooouuuusss! He then picks Sonjay up and grabs him in position for a Veg-o-matic or something but bends Sonjay into a CRAB! Oh my God, the body isn’t meant to bend like that and Sonjay agrees it seems as he TAPS immediately! Danielson picks up a big win!

    WINNER---Bryan Danielson

    ***

Sonjay can barely stand as he holds his back but he gets up and Danielson offers his hand, which Sonjay accepts in a great show of sportsmanship! Danielson climbs to 2-0 with that win!

Up next we have “Classic” Colt Cabana taking on Low Ki, this should be a great match with the powerhouse Cabana trying to stave off the martial arts abilities of Ki.

Low Ki (0-1) vs. Colt Cabana (1-0)

They circle each other, Low Ki trying to attack quickly, Cabana being warily defensive. Low Ki makes a mistake early and Colt takes control, working over Low Ki’s neck. He has Ki down and places a foot at either side of Ki’s head and then twists his hips, jarring the neck of Low Ki! A double knees to the side of the head and a swinging neckbreaker further the pain in Ki’s neck. Cotl whips Ki to the corner and goes for the double knees but Ki moves. He hits some stiff chops and then backs up, goes for the Tidal Krush but Cabana moves, Ki lands on the second rope but Cabana gets under Ki and takes him out of the corner with a big sitout powerbomb. Cabana then hits a big moonsault from the top for 2. He goes back to work on the neck with a chinlock. The fans get behind Ki and rally him, he gets up and hits a trifecta of elbows to Colt’s ribs and tries to run to the ropes but Colt pounds on Ki’s neck once again. Colt then runs off the ropes but he is met by a Koppo kick on the return! Colt is on his knees and Ki sets up for his Krush Kombo, he hits the 2 kicks to Colt’s barrel chest but Colt ducks the third and scoops him up like for a Kryptonite Krunch but drops Ki neck-first on his knee! That gets a long 2 count for Colt. Ki with a short comeback, goes for a springboard kick off the second rope, the Tidal Wave, but Colt catches him in a bearhug and then swings him over with a big DDT! More damage to the neck! That gets another 2 count. Colt calls for the end and goes for his Colt 45 but Ki headbutts him to escape and he dropkicks the knee of Colt. He then grabs Colt’s head and hits some brutal Kawada kicks to the face! He whips him to the corner and this time connects with the Tidal Krush and then a Power Drive elbow and he gets 2. He hits some nasty Mongolian chops to the back of Colt’s neck and then a huge chop to the chest. Colt seems to get mad and hits a flurry of punches and goes for a lariat but Ki ducks and hits a big Yakuza kick! He goes for the Ki Krusher, Colt escapes and sets Ki up for the Colt 45 again but as Ki is up for the move, he maneuvers himself into a Dragon Clutch on Cabana! Cabana fights it but is forced down to his knees! He is able to make his way back to a standing position and he snapmares Ki over to break the hold! He then runs off the ropes and goes for a quebrada press but he misses and Ki goes right back to the Dragon Clutch, this time with Colt on his stomach, nowhere to go! Colt holds on for about 10 seconds but then taps! Low Ki gets his first win of the tournament!

    WINNER--- Low Ki

We go backstage to Michael Shane, who has some comments about tonight’s upcoming match against his arch-rival Paul London.

Shane: “Paul London, do you have any idea how long it’s been since our legendary ladder street fight in Ring of Honor? I am very proud of that match as I’m sure you are as well. Except one thing. You won that match Paul. That one fact has eaten me alive since the second it happened because I know, deep down in my heart I know, and I’m sure deep down in your heart you know too, that I should have won that match. I should have gone on to be a star in Ring of Honor. But that’s only one piece of the pie Paul. I went on to be a star for NWA TNA, the X Division champion of the world to be exact. And what did you do? You floundered for an entire year in obscurity, also known as the WWE, and you did nothing. So now you’re back in the Indies looking to re-establish yourself as the Almighty “Death-Defying” Paul London. Well Paul, tonight I’m gonna make sure that you won’t defy death anymore because I’m serving it to you on a silver platter. The fans tell you Paul, “please don’t die.” Tonight, I shatter their prayers, along with your soul.”

Wow, an intense promo by Michael Shane, will he make good on his promise in his match tonight against his nemesis Paul London? We’ll find out but before we do, we have Spanky vs. Chris Sabin!

Spanky (0-1) vs. Chris Sabin (1-0)

This match is just go, go, go from the beginning. Sabin hits a big climbing enziguri to knock Spanky to the floor and then he hits a huge no hands Spaceman plancha to the floor! Back in he hits the Over Easy for a 2. He goes for a springboard dropkick but Spanky swats him aside and hits a leg lariat. He whips Sabin to the corner, runs and backflips off him (Dr. Smooth’s Secret Recipe) and then tries to whip Sabin to the opposite corner, Sabin reverses, Spanky tips up in the corner and spins around into a rana and takes Sabin over and Sabin rolls to the floor now! Spanky runs and hits a big somersault plancha, the Whirling Twirlixer! Back in now and Spanky comes off the top with a back elbow for a 2 and a half. A sitout gourdbuster gets another 2. He brings Sabin to the corner and goes for a Tornado Pedigree but Sabin blocks it so Spanky kicks him and hits the Doctor Teeth, a ¾ chancery turned into a facebuster on the knee! He then goes for Sliced Bread #2 but Sabin pushes him off behind him, boot to the gut, tries for the Future Shock but Spanky escapes that, hits a couple forearms and goes for a crossbody but Sabin catches him and hits the Sabinalizer. That was shades of Hero and Williams earlier! Sabin gets a 2 on that. Sabin now goes up top but he gets crotched by Spanky. Spanky goes for a super rana but Sabin holds on and Spanky crashes to the mat. Sabin stands up and connects with a big crossbody off the top, 1…2…no! Spanky kicks out. Sabin then again goes the Cradle Shock and spins Spanky over for it but Spanky flips and lands on his feet, grabs the ¾ chancery and hits the Sliced Bread #2! Sabin lands right on his head on the move and Spanky covers, one…two…three! Spanky scores the win!

    WINNER---Spanky

    ****

The two get up and shake hands after.

It’s time for the rematch everybody’s been waiting for as 2 of the prize students from the Texas Wrestling Academy wage war once again. Michael Shane. Paul London. Let’s get to it!

Michael Shane (0-1) vs. Paul London (0-0-1)

Rudy Boy Gonzalez leads Paul to the ring in a show of moral support, he was the one who oversaw Paul’s training and the early goings of his career so it must mean a lot to Paul to have him present! They come face to face in the middle of the ring, staring into each other’s eyes. Shane finally breaks the stand-still with a blistering slap to London’s face. London just looks in Shane’s eyes before hitting a series of stiff forearms to Shane’s face! He whips Shane to the ropes and hits a big diving forearm, followed by a spin heel kick and finally a Dropsault and Shane gets frustrated and leaves the ring. London makes it look like he’s going to dive out on Shane but puts on the brakes as Shane literally dives out of the way to avoid him. The fans laugh at Shane and he gets pissed off and charges into the ring but he gets taken down by a drop toehold and London paintbrushes the back of Shane’s head Scott Hall style. Shane gets up uber-pissed now and London armdrags him and locks on an armbar. Shane fights his way up and pulls London down by the hair and stomps away. He lifts London up hits a vicious backbreaker. Shane hits a nice back suplex and then tosses London to the floor. Shane then hits a somersault plancha over the ropes to the floor! He whips London into the rail and then grabs a chair. The ref warns him but Shane hits London over the back anyways. The ref tries to take the chair away from Shane and they get in a tug of war over it. Shane wins out and raises the chair to hit London again but gets the chair superkicked into his face! London with a desperation move and Michael Shane is BUSTED OPEN!! London then suplexes Shane on the floor. He goes inside the ring to break the count and sees Shane get up so he runs and springs off the adjacent middle rope and moonsaults over the ropes onto Shane, oh my God what a move! The fans chant “Holy Shit” at that as London gets up and tosses Shane back in the ring and follows. A slingshot legdrop gets a 2 count. He goes up top possibly for a London Star Press but Shane crotches him! Shane then pulls London out so only his feet are hanging on the turnbuckle and then SPIKES him down with a DDT! Shane then goes outside and reaches under the ring and pulls out a 20 FOOT LADDER! The fans erupt at this and start chanting “Please Don’t Die!” as the ref just throws his arms up in the air, I don’t think he cares anymore!

Shane puts the ladder in the ring and props it up against the corner, like in their legendary ROH match. He goes over to London who is just starting to get up. He tries to whip London into but London reverses and Shane baseball slides to put on the brakes, London charges, Shane ducks and elevates London but London lands on his feet on the ladder and jumps back with a crossbody! Another Dropsault connects! He then hits the Waffle Face! He goes up top and goes for the London Star but Shane gets the knees up into the midsection! He waits for London to stand and then blasts him with Sweet Shane Music! Shane now climbs up top and comes off with the Picture Perfect Elbow, right to the chest, that’s gotta be it! One…two…thr..no!! London kicks out and the fans erupt! They start chanting “London! London!” to get Paul back into the match. Shane pushes Paul into the corner and climbs up. He starts punching Paul’s head, some of the crowd count along but most are booing. London stops him at 7 and cradles Shane’s head and hits him with a neck cradle powerbomb, DANGEROOOUUUSSS!! They are both down and the ref starts counting. They get up and start trading shots with each other, Shane gets the advantage and has London staggered, the ladder right behind him. Shane backs up and charges but London ducks down and back body drops him on the ladder! He then hits his Legsweep DDT, that should be it! London is about to climb to the top rope but he stops and looks at the ladder across the ring. He goes over and grabs it and sets it up! He then climbs up as the ref holds it steady, he’s about 10 feet up! He looks around and hits the London Star Press off the ladder!! The fans go wild as he covers, 1-2-3!

    WINNER--- Paul London

    **** ½

London gets to his feet as the fans are chanting “London, London.” He salutes them and makes his way to the back. Shane then gets up finally and the fans are chanting “Michael Shane.” He looks around and stops for a second…and then flips everybody off! The chants and cheers soon turn to jeers and he leaves the ring. What a great match, definitely up to par with their legendary match in ROH.

And now we have the match everybody’s been waiting for. CM Punk vs. the “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. These two have such an extensive past. From their matches in IWC, their second round match in the 2002 Ted Petty Invitational and of course the Second City Saints vs. Prophecy feud in Ring of Honor that climaxed when Punk and his Saints Pepsi Plunged Daniels through a table, ending his ROH career. This match will be intense, that’s for sure. But CM Punk has to be wary of Daniels’ new partner The Messiah. Daniels makes his way out first, indeed accompanied by the Messiah. He gets in the ring and waits for Punk.

CM Punk (1-0) vs. Christopher Daniels (1-0)

Punk can’t even fully get into the ring before Daniels attacks. Daniels pounds on Punk’s back. He whips him to the ropes and hits a leg lariat. He lifts Punk in a suplex and keeps him vertical as the fans count along all the way to 20 and Daniels drops him down, great strength! A back suplex and a slingshot legdrop in from the apron gets a quick 2. A Flatliner hits and Daniels holds on and uses his leg to apply a Crossface on Punk but Punk gets his foot on the rope. Daniels whips Punk to the corner and charges in but Punk moves and beats him down in the corner. He then hits some nasty boot scrapes and then a running one! He hits a scoop slam and then a split-legged moonsault for a quick 2 of his own. He twists Daniels around for a neckbreaker and then drops him down neck first on his knee and then runs off the ropes, goes for a shining wizard but Daniels ducks and hits a Blue Thunder Driver for 2! He picks Punk up and slams him down with a uranage slam. He then goes to the corner and hits the Best Moonsault Ever, cover, one…two..thr..no! Punk gets the shoulder up. Daniels calls for then end and tries for Angel’s Wings but he gets backdropped by Punk. Punk runs to the ropes and this time connects with the Shining Wizard! He covers, one, two, no! The Messiah pulled the ref out of the ring! The ref is having words with Messiah and Punk is distracted long enough for Daniels to low blow him from behind and he hits the Angel’s Wings! He covers as the Messiah gets the ref to look and the ref dives in to make the count, no not this way! One…two…no! Punk kicks out of Angel’s Wings! Daniels can’t believe it! He lifts Punk up and goes for Last Rites but Punk twists around, grabs the arm and hits his hammerlock STO! He hits Welcome to Chicago Motherfucker and that gets a CLOSE 2. He pulls off his elbow pad and says “That’s it!” He bounces off the ropes and goes for a lariat but Daniels catches the arm and maneuvers Punk around into Last Rites, it’s over! Daniels is so quick! But he’s too tired to cover! The ref lays in the count and gets to 7 as Daniels gets to his feet and Punk is resting in the corner. Daniels goes and grabs Punk’s legs and pulls him out but Punk Jackie Chans and lands on his feet, boot to the gut and a DDT! He goes to the top rope but Daniels meets him up there and they trade punches. Punk gets the advantage and goes for the Pepsi Plunge but the Messiah grabs his foot and allows Daniels to get the advantage and go for a superplex! But the fans erupt as Colt Cabana comes running from the back and takes Messiah out with a lariat on the floor! He makes Messiah retreat to the back with a flurry of punches, leaving Punk and Daniels to go one on one! Punk hits some shots to Daniels’ gut and he stands up and hooks the arms, here it comes, PEPSI PLUNGE! He turns Daniels over and covers, 1…2…3!!

    WINNER---CM Punk

  9. Nice show, I didn't really agree with Rave being kinda jobbed out to Aries, who already had a match earlier but I understand you have to get him over as a legit champion. I love the Majestic/Crew feud and it got really interesting with Styles Ca$h thrown in now. Wasted Talent finally win! It's like Barry Horowitz and Homeless Jimmy all over again! :P Anyways, I'm lovin' this, keep it up as always.

  10. Scoot Andrews out of Rise of the Independents

Reported on October 15th, 2004 at 10:07 PM

We have received word that Scoot Andrews has signed with WWE after having only one match in the Rise of the Independents super-tournament.  A replacement will take his place in his scheduled match against Chris Hero as well as in the remainder of the tournament.

  11. I was gonna say this but I forgot so we won't worry about it until after this upcoming show but after this show I also want you guys to pick what you think will be the best match of the night as well. This is based on the match quality stat. If more than one match tie then the crowd reaction stat will be used as a tiebreaker. Anyways the match-ups for the upcoming show are in my sig, get those predictions up!
