  1. I can only beat the final boss in Arcade mode by using Lei and some disgraceful, underhanded tactics. SERPENT STRIKE. SERPENT STRIKE. SERPENT STRIKE. REPEAT~!

But I love this game. My roommates and I have been destroying each other with every incarnation of this game since we lived in the dorms. It is one of the ultimate shit talking games and we've started settling disputes like who runs to the store for TP, does the dishes, or drops off our rent to the landlord who got all pissed about the car parked on the front lawn the day after our Halloween party with battles.

  2. Dennis Leary was on the Tonight Show a few nights back and he mentioned that there are only going to be two more seasons of Rescue Me. That feels about right as far as ending the series before it out stays its welcome, but more importantly, it brings about some interesting questions. Will we finally find out if Tommy is really seeing ghosts? Will Tommy survive the show? Will he end up with one of his crazy women? Rescue Me is by far my favorite show on television and as bummed as I will be to see it go off the air I am very excited for the shows last two seasons.

  3. Cade, definitely follow TGC's advice on Peter David's X-Factor.

It is a great little corner of the Marvel Universe and while it does overlap with the major storylines (WWH, Civil War, Messiah Complex) from time to time, it never really lets them highjack the series' driving force: gritty character based drama. TGC covered a lot of what make the series so great. Personally, I think two of Peter David's greatest talents are, one, his ability to take B-list characters and getting you to care about them as if they were A-lister's, and two, having a tremendous imagination in terms of ways to use his character's abilities. I mean, Maddrox has one of the least defined powers of any Marvel character and for David really explores them.

I have fallen a little behind in the series but I am told that Darwin and Longshot have recently joined the team and that really excites me in that both of the aforementioned characters could flourish under his penning. Again both have fairly undefined powers and, especially in Darwin's case, aren't particularly established characters.

Edit: Also, I think that this would make a great show if Marvel ever wanted to venture into live action television again. Heck, maybe when Dollhouse is inevitably canceled they can even get Joss Whedon to write the project! :P

    Edit:

Also, I can't believe some people don't like Daniel Way's current run on Deadpool! I love his characterization of Wade's madness and the art is the best Wilson has ever had on a solo book.

  4. This is a little off topic but this thread caused the string of thought that lead me to it, but I'd love to see Gerard Butler make a cameo somewhere down the road as Marvel's version of Hercules. :shifty:

To brings us back, remotely to topic I leave you with this awesome image...

  5. So I am putting together a mix for a buddy of mine who just went through a breakup with his long time girlfriend. He was my roommate for about half of college and I think he was dating this girl most of that time so, naturally, he has been taking it pretty hard. In any event I want him to come back out on the prowl with me the next couple of weekends, and I am putting together this mix to get his mind in the right place.

Now I am not really looking for Glassjaw, Lovebites and Razorlines, level of DIE DIE EVIL WOMAN! I am more looking for Danzig, She Rides, level of EVIL WOMAN BEWARE I AM ONTO YOUR SCHEME type of music to get him ready to join me in my mission to slay skank monsters with my chainsaw dick.

So what do you think EWB? (Also first person to suggest ELO gets a pretend chop to the throat.)

  6. The idea of seeing Cable down the road is pretty cool, though he definitely has one of the most convoluted back story's in all of the Marvel Universe... which is saying a lot. It would be interesting to see how they could transfer the character to film-- what they'd drop and what they'd change etc... Also, Ron Perlman would rock that role pretty hard, but part of me would love Kurt Russell in the role. But then I'd watch Kurt Russell in just about anything, playing just about anything. [/mancrush]

But anyhow, this Deadpool project has me more excited than any comic film has ever gotten me. Deadpool has long been one of my favorite characters, and the number of directions they can take the Merc with a Mouth is near limitless. He is like Bugs Bunny with katanas!

  7. I was really worn out from this past weekend, so I spent my whole day off yesterday in bed watching TV shows on my computer and I finally finished the first season of the show. Needless to say I am very excited for the second season. As one of the board's resident Rollins marks I am super stoked about him joining the cast. I checked out the preview stuff they have up on Hulu and it looks like his run will be a good one even if he is just around for 6 episodes.

  8. So I really dug the musical spectrum thread, but also had a bit of trouble trying to decide what I wanted to post. Ultimately I came up with this rule and figured it might be worth its own thread for shits and giggles.

So what song has the highest play count and by comparison what song has the lowest play count in your library?

Most Played, Ween - Transdermal Celebration

    Least Played,

Also, I had no clue I had that Nu Shooz song on my computer. It is such an amazing 80's track. After this thread I am resolving to boost its play count out of the basement.

  9. What are some songs that you typically need to listen to more than once to feel fulfilled?

For some reason every time I listen to The Flaming Lips' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9saeLg_GQg, I end up listening to it again. Sometimes up to like 4 or 5 times. It is just such a fun, catchy, quirky little song. I don't know if it is just because it is a shorter song but I tend to need to hear it the multiple times to really feel ready to move on in my listening.

  10. I also loved The Irredeemable Antman, but the decision to make him a supporting character in other books was definitely the right choice. Plus it yielded us the great panel where he and Taskmaster sit out of a fight at Camp Hammond to watch videos on his Ipod.

A girl I work with recently loaned me her copy of Box Office Poison and I've really been enjoying it. I usually don't go for this type of comic, but it is exceptionally well written and loaded with some great tips of the hat to other comics, movies, and pop culture et cetera that makes it an awful lot of fun.
