A season ticket drive has now been approved in Las Vegas for a potential owner to gauge expansion interest.

Considering the level of actual talent with the team's imposed budget, I didn't think they were too far out from where they probably should be in the standings. Maybe it's more behind-the-scenes stuff, but there are plenty of coaches who would definitely get less out of that roster than Maclean did.

Surely soon...When do they play Colorado next? *glum*
We both should have known it would be the Sharks

Who could have foreseen this, with all their clever drafting and wise personnel moves?
Winless in the Western conference all season, probably not going to change that any time soon.

Amidst the scary news about Gordie, Jean Beliveau sadly passed away last night. Amazing career from start to finish and you can see from watching old clips that he was really a prototype for the kind of powerful centermen that are still in the game today.
Any excuse to watch Legends of Hockey. RIP.

Surprised Pulev is up and cognizant, that was a devastating punch.

I don't think I've heard of one person who actually likes Jost. I'm indifferent at best, but he's head writer and was long groomed for the job so it will take something major to pry him out of the seat, I think.
Strong is way better at character acting than reading two-liners. I'm glad they got her away from anchoring for that reason.

The "39 Cents" sketch from this week was brilliant stuff. I think adding Michael Che as a writer/performer has been a big boost to the season so far - he's much better suited for Update than Cecily Strong, too. Comedy nerds are very into the Good Neighbour stuff but I don't know how it translates to people who watch the show more casually.
There's good stuff going on but it gets really bogged down in all the lousy staples like talk and game show sketches or limp political cold opens.

Mulaney episode 2 was so bad. It had one funny line from Martin Short and one from Elliot Gould.
Weird. We are way apart. I thought it was a much better, much funnier episode than last week and that Short and Gould are anchors just dragging everything down by needing so much screentime (especially Short).

Ok I kinda always thought the Blacklist looked stupid and cheesy but I decided to give it a try on Netflix and I kinda love it
Same, identically. I'm almost mad at myself for enjoying it because there are still a few moderately hokey bits in all the episodes I've seen.

Predators' chairman not messing around with any fake Cups.
He also shared a message to the fans.
"We are determined — this franchise — to win the Stanley Cup," he said. "Not a Stanley Cup, but the Stanley Cup. And win it more than once."

I saw this a few days ago when the image was live and meant to respond. Open the file in Acrobat again, then go to Tools > Advanced Editing > Touchup Text Tool. Select the text you want, right click the selection and choose Properties. On the menu that appears, it should tell you what font you're looking at.

Oh for fuck sake, another guy who was activly posting helpful stuff for the update gets banned over something stupid that got blown out of all proportions.
I'm sorry you feel that way. He did it to himself and refused to let it go after being asked nicely and then formally warned. I understand how you see things but he is banned because he was continually abrasive and antagonistic and refused to cooperate.

He's gone, carry on.

And this ain't a compelling point either. You're yet to make a compelling point on this topic, which sort of throws some shade on the dozens and dozens of other suggestions you try to bulldoze through these threads.
You need to keep in mind that this is data for everyone to use. It's not going to be tailored to your whims because you aren't the objective evaluator of all wrestling talent. You're just another dick with an opinion (and a dated one at that).
I'm not invested in your silly debate. I am telling you to relax before you're excused.

His push and position do not reflect his skill set. The only reason he is even pushed is because Vince gets boners for every guy with more muscle than the average wrestler, every single one of them. His skill set is extremely minimal and weak.

I'm reading Tales of Suspense from the first Iron Man onwards which is fairly typical mid 60s Lee fare. Best thing though is by far the backing comics which are just standalone sci-fi stories with horrible twist endings. He's obviously aiming for Planet of the Apes/Outer Limits cautionary tales type stuff, but some of them are just terrible. In fairness he is doing two a month alongside a million other publications, and they are quite funny.
"I stayed in the haunted house and didn't see a ghost, give me $100".
"Ah, but look, the house is gone, the house was the ghost!".
I love this shit and have a reasonably large stack of DC's original 'House of Mystery'/'House of Secrets' run and a lot of Marvel's 'Tales to Astonish' in a giant hardcover, as well. Dark Horse puts out a quarterly 'Creepy' now which I think is the only major anthology of it's type still going.

Vegas would be something interesting to see but I don't know if it could actually be successful. The hope I guess would be that a team can sell blocks and blocks of tickets to resorts who comp them to their guests. That doesn't mean tourists will actually go, but ideally every game could be a 'sellout' if there's lots of corporate partnership happening.
Seattle is probably a better fit but they're also not interested in a hockey team as anything more than a sidecar to a potential NBA franchise right now. The possibility for success with a team there or even in Portland seems high, though.

Tampa also keeps 1.6 million of Gagner's salary. Hey, why not?
I think perhaps Steve Yzerman fell down the stairs one day but has continued coming to work...

Riberio bought out.
Coyotes' GM came right out and said it was down to personal issues and that Ribeiro was missing buses, showing up late, getting into arguments, etc. He's sort of a notorious party guy & is apparently getting some help over the offseason. Truly hope it works out for him.
I'm interested to see how Hornqvist does on a team that's actually trying to score goals as a priority. If you can consistently score 20 or more in a full season playing for Barry Trotz, there's hope for what you can do on Malkin's wing, I think. Neal's a better pure scorer but not without his own downsides as a player. Nashville needs a legit center for him, otherwise it's kind of a superfluous trade.

Adding Sbisa means Jason Garrison goes immediately to Tampa for the Lightning's second round pick. Vancouver threw in a 7th and some minor league rights.
I don't think it's the jackpot Vancouver fans will have wanted but the options being exceedingly limited handcuffed them quite a bit. Seems like they're just dumping as much cap as possible to go shopping in the next week.

I don't feel bad for Richards. He just got a gigantic lump sum of cash and is still good enough to cash in on another contract.
No no, his bank account I certainly don't pity but it was a pretty hard fall-off from being considered one of the elite level players. He's better than going out like Scott Gomez, which is probably what's going to happen.
-
Feel bad for Richards in a way. Being severely demoted in two straight playoff runs by different coaches then bought out is pretty humbling. It makes you wonder where he'll land and what the value will be.
Panthers pass on Bylsma, who must increasingly be working on his panelspeak.

I think it would have to be a scenario where Poile doesn't work for Nashville anymore because he's been emphatic about keeping Weber and building everything around him. It's difficult to imagine what kind of trade would have to be put together to change the Predators' minds - four 1st round picks wasn't enough to do it.
