  1. As of the 2009–10 season qualification for the UEFA Champions League changes' date=' the top four teams in the Premier League qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with the top three teams directly entering the group stage. Previously only the top two teams qualified automatically. The fourth-placed team enters the Champions League at the play-off round for non-champions and must win a two-legged knockout tie in order to enter the group stage.[sup'][23] The team placed fifth in the Premier League automatically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, and the sixth and seventh-placed teams can also qualify, depending on the winners of the two domestic cup competitions. If one of the cup winners qualifies for Europe through their league position, the sixth-placed team in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League. If both of the cup winners qualify for the Champions League through their league position, the sixth and seventh-placed teams in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League. If either domestic cup competition is contested between teams outside the top four league positions, the winner will automatically qualify for the UEFA Europa League regardless of their final league position. A further place in the UEFA Europa League is also available via the Fair Play initiative. If the Premier League has one of the three highest Fair Play rankings in Europe, the highest ranked team in the Premier League Fair Play standings which has not already qualified for Europe will automatically qualify for the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round

    So there.

  2. I generally want to see English sides do well. But tonight, I am glad Arsenal are out because I am fed up of them always making excuses as to why they haven't won anything for six years.

You must have raped someone in a previous life Arsene to harbour all of this bad luck and circumstance in your life, because six years of excuses is just not plausible. Admit it - you're choke artists.

  3. Fuck the Bellamy Brothers. It sounds nothing like their shit song in it's entirety and it's a cheesy pick-up line used openly by everyone who is shite at pulling (i.e. me).

Not that I am biased or anything.

Anyway, I would comment on Lady Gaga but she infuriates me and just thinking about her songs in the slightest gets me angry, so it's best I don't mad.gif

  4. So, I finally took my beloved Bristol Rovers up to the Championship. From taking over in February when they were 21st, we went on the maddest run of 19 games unbeaten to win at Wembley 5-0 against Sheffield Wednesday (who did absolutely nothing to stop us, it seemed). Next season should be interesting. I just lined up friendlies against Liverpool, Blackpool, Aberdeen and a tour of Spain to gear ourselves up against higher level opposition and I am now looking forwards to meeting Bristol City in the local derby next season!

Another great thing - I signed Tom Walsh, previously of Liverpool, who hasn't got much going for him but I think he'll turn into something decent. I bring him on at 75mins in the Play-Off Final and he proceeds to create a goal and score a goal. A fantastic way to arrive on the scene.

So, all in all, next season should prove fun smile.gif

  5. I start with every nation available at their lowest levels (being so sad, I bought my laptop specifically to be able to run FM at it's full capacity :shifty: ). However, if my computer was average, I would probably start with:

    England

    Scotland

    Spain

    Germany

    France

And I usually always go for Bristol Rovers (League One), but I will pick any team going really. The lowest I've gone is like Blue Square South (Worcester City).

  6. Oh, you knew I had to say something about it pervert.gif

So, yeah. I like the song and I am actually impressed with the video. It was kind of weird though. It kind of felt like you are getting a little too "close" to her at times with the camera angles. That kind of freaked me out.

Still, if the direction is to go with a harder bassline and more dub then I'm for it. It will set her apart from the rest of the pop music scene.

  7. As always Stoke, those types of "fans" aren't really fans. Indeed, they are inbred turd burglers - to coin a phrase.

And to add to that, Di Matteo getting sacked by West Brom? They're fucking stupid. What did they SERIOUSLY expect from this season? I'd fully expect Di Matteo to have a good go at keeping them in the Premiership. I don't honestly see why he wouldn't have been able to do the job, considering the football they have played this season.

    Utterly fucking bonkers.

  8. Bristol Rovers.

Don't ask me why. I'm not sure either :shifty:

No, they are my local team and my dad's side of the family have all been Rovers fans for ages. They are my main team.

I hold soft spots for Liverpool and Tranmere (I use to live near there on the Wirral and my dad supported Liverpool as a kid), as well as Chester (partly because of location, partly because I feel sorry for the shit they've had to go through), Werder Bremen, Hamburg, St. Pauli (older brother lives in Hamburg and I use to live in Bremen), Toulouse (I use to live in Toulouse too) and I like to keep updated on Canterbury City because I use to live in Canterbury, Kent and they never had a proper football team until a few years ago.

And I might look out for Gillingham scores sometimes. But my first love and my team above anyone else is Bristol Rovers.

  9. Will be interesting to see if anyone who isn't a United fan thinks he's anything other than an utter cunt who football is better off seeing the back of.

Well, not that interesting. It's pretty much a given.

Admittedly, I did think this. But if the rumours of him taking over Andy Gray's job on Sky turn true, I will have rather he carry on playing.

  10. It's apart of the Premiership now, so I thought I'd post in here. Apparently, the story coming from Andy Carroll is he didn't want to leave and felt pushed because Newcastle wanted the money, whilst Pardew said Carroll wanted a new contract or let him talk to Liverpool.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew to spend Andy Carroll cash

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has vowed to spend the £35m the club received from Liverpool for Andy Carroll on strengthening his squad in the summer.

Pardew had been determined not to sell the striker, 22, but admitted he could not turn down Liverpool's huge offer.

However, he said: "I told [Newcastle owner] Mike Ashley that the money has to be reinvested in the team and he agreed that all the money will be used.

"For the Newcastle fan, that is the most important message I can give."

In December, Pardew had said that Carroll, who signed a new deal in October, was not for sale.

And Newcastle rejected an initial approach for the England striker on transfer deadline day but, after receiving a second, accepted it when, according to Pardew, Carroll asked to leave if he was not given a new contract.

Pardew conceded he asked Carroll to put in a transfer request but stressed that he was not forced out.

"He mentioned he wanted a new deal, otherwise he wanted out and to talk to Liverpool. I told him he had to put that in writing and he did," stated Pardew.

Meanwhile Carroll has insisted he did not want to leave the Magpies, telling the Evening Chronicle: "I didn't want to leave. Make sure the fans know I didn't want to leave.

"[Managing director] Derek [Llambias] asked me to hand in a transfer request, so I was pushed into a corner and had no choice.

"I wasn't wanted by them and they made it clear they wanted the money.

"Then I flew down in [owner Mike Ashley's] helicopter. I didn't want to leave.

"I'm gutted that I wasn't wanted at my home team after everything I have done and the progress I have made."

Carroll's comments support what was reported in Tuesday's Daily Star, that he sent texts to Steve Wraith, editor of the Toon Talk fanzine, claiming he felt he had been forced out of the club.

However, Pardew maintained that Newcastle did everything in their power to keep the striker.

"When I first heard of a substantial bid, my advice was to turn it down as the reaction time for us to buy anyone else was too small, regardless of the size of the offer and Derek and Mike agreed with it," stated Pardew.

"I wanted Andy to stay but events took over and the size of the fee was obviously a big part of that.

"We have got an extraordinary figure for a 21-year-old [sic] who has done six months in the Premier League."

However, Pardew admitted he was not overly happy to be one striker short for the remainder of the season.

He continued: "Could it have been used [on transfer deadline day]? Late last night [Monday], we made a couple of bids, but we were getting extortionate figures thrown at us.

"It was ridiculous. Were we going to pay an over-inflated price for a lesser product than Andy Carroll? No, so unfortunately as I sit here now, I am weaker than I was yesterday [Monday] because I had Andy Carroll maybe four or five weeks away [from full fitness].

"No, I am not comfortable with it, but it is what it is.

"That doesn't feel good and that's part of why it's a difficult day because I've got to prepare a team to play Fulham [on Wednesday].

"But we have to stay strong as a group and my message to the players and fans is that we have to be strong in the second half of the season.

"We have done well without him and we have to continue doing that."

Pardew went on to stress that he did not want to fall out with Carroll over the move, adding: "Andy is probably slightly misguided. We didn't twist his arm to get on the helicopter. If he wanted to stay he could, but he's not here.

"He had a five-year contract and we said we would renew it in the summer but he wanted it renewed straight away and that is when the power shifted.

"Andy's a local boy and he doesn't want to have bad feelings with everyone and I don't want that either. He's gone to a good club and good luck to him.

"And it wasn't just about Andy Carroll [on Monday]. If we did a deal with him where does that leave everyone else at the club? If he scores another five goals does he get another contract?

"This is about Newcastle United being bigger than anyone and the decision was right for the club."
